Rose De Mai

An impressively photorealistic rose in all its natural nuances, including some green and earthy facets. Geranium isn't overpowering and it adds vivacity to the opening. But, of course, the ross is the real protagonist here! A very dense and concentrate rose, with an 'oily' texture. Even if I am not an expert by any means, I bet there is some natural component here. Both longevity and projection are excellent on my skin. I absolutely love this scent, but I warn against blind buy, because there may be some skins enhancing the geranium. In addition, it suits only the visceral rose fans, otherwise, it may seem too flat and static... However if you like rose like me and if you are searching a 'real rose experience' (without other stuff, such as oud,, fruit, vanilla etc...) this is worth a Try

Like drowning in a sea of freshly picked roses, a fragrant menace ready to engulf you. The smell is incredibly realistic, down to the vague hints of artichoke that mark a high-quality, natural rose. A lonely geranium is hidden somewhere in this sea of rose petals. It's not a lot, but it helps boosting the fruity facets of rose, keeping the artichoke at bay. The drydown is really pleasant, light and naturally sweet. This is undoubtedly a quality perfume, but you need to appreciate the real rose smell, not the "cosmetic" idea of a rose.

I really don’t think you can do better than this currently for a ‘pure’ rose perfume. Even better offerings in this genre from the likes of Guerlain and Diptyque I find to be somewhat lacking in personality. This is simple and straightforward without being boring. A lifelike and life-full rose, with a particularly prominent tea facet in the opening (hardly surprising given the perfumer behind this!)

Interesting rose with herbal and minty undertones. It definitely has a jammy side, but it also mixed with something metallic that makes it a bit sour for my nose. It’s quite realistic, even though I think that actually Rosa Centifolia has slightly sweet and powdery aspects which I can feel in here. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Fresh-cut roses and geranium set next to a pitcher of zesty lemony iced tea in a garden. Shockingly similar to Pleasures by Estee Lauder (but a bit more earthy and herby).

This is a realistic soliflore of the delicate & watery Rosa × centifolia, a bit different from the popular Rosa × damascena that we typically associate "rosy" with!

Spicy Rose, just like pure Rose oil. Perhaps Perris Monte Carlo is not the home for me. Their way of making perfume is as if they only make the essential oil of that flower/fragrance, then add alcohol to create a new bottle of perfume. I've never tried a scent as boring as this, even though I'm a fan of Rose. I used to use Jasmin De Pays, although I didn't like its longevity and sillage but it was still acceptable, but when it came to Rose De Mai, I was completely disappointed. The longevity on my skin is only about < 2 hours, the sillage is so close to the skin that after half an hour I can no longer smell the scent. So bad. It was a mistake when I bought more Rose De Mai when I was not satisfied with Jasmin De Pays, and now I feel like I was wasting my money. Rating: 5/10, sorry to anyone who is a fan of this perfume

I’m a fan of Jen-Claude Elena and Perris Monte Carlo—I own three from this house—though I don’t love Rose De Mai. In this overdone genre, Rose De Mai would need to be exceptional and for me it’s very much a mediocre rose scent. Obviously this juice has some quality ingredients, mixed well. But there’s nothing here to make me want to come back to it. Low silage with average performance, an okay vote from me.

A vivid honeyed rose de mai opening. A really beautiful and convincing May rose soliflore. For twenty minutes. It quickly falls back to the usual JCE amorphous and anaemic style. It ends up in an extremely light geranium smell, somewhat reminiscent of the far drydown of Frédéric Malle Rose & Cuir without the isobutyl quinoline herbal leatheriness.

Rose de Mai Perris Monte Carlo (Full review on Apr 19, 2024) Rose de Mai by Perris Monte Carlo is beautiful pale pink soliflore rose scent. I find frageance from this house an attempt to recreate the most natural scent as possible. I receive this over a half year now. When I was first receive everything a bit lack luster, very soft. Delicately soft. Time passed, scent is a bit stronger. I do enjoy it now as current stage. Rose de Mai contains a pale pink rose element support by green tint from Immortelle, kinda smell like soft green stem that support the pink rose that bloom. It is very gentle. Quite natural to my nose still even 6 months passed and scent is stronger. Don’t expect the enormous or even moderate silage. It seems fragrance from Perris Monte Carlo aims to archive natural and delicacy side of thing. Longevity of this fragrance last around 3 hours before leave a mild musk on skin, I used to don’t like this kind of fragrance but I appreciate it more now after a few influences from my community. Sometimes, fragrance can be a sheer lace work to cover you. Consider this is a work from JCE, it is a bit substantial than his hermes work but still.. light as usual. Still, 7/10. I love both Rose de Mai & Rose de taif, sometimes I like otherside more, both have it places in my collection. I would highly suggest this to person who love soft natural fragrance that beautifully done. ===== Rose de Mai (USD 100), I decided to blind-buy Rose de Taif along with Rose de Mai as I love Rose Soliflore. I normally use - "La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens" represent this genre. But I want something to fancy up my collection a bit. As "La Fille de Berlin" has mild metallic that I notice lately, my mini quest for realistic Rose Soliflore begins. Maybe I got lucky, Maybe I might gone wrong. Who's know? But it is a fun part of everything.

Rose de Mai is one of the Perris perfumes from the Grasse collection. Grasse is known as the hub of perfumery. The task of creating a fragrance centered around the note of rose was given to Jean Claude Elena. Rose is one of the most iconic floral notes in perfume history. In this fragrance, however, geranium is as dominant as rose. JCE previously worked on a Rose-Geranium composition in Rose & Cuir by Fredric Malle, which to me is a masterpiece. But in this fragrance, he attempted to maintain the identity of the rose. The geranium adds a minty, herbal freshness, a slightly metallic aspect, and spiciness to the rose. Due to the duality of rose-geranium, this is considered a perfect unisex fragrance. Over time, the minty, aromatic facets of geranium fade and the floral rose scent becomes more prominent. It is not a bad fragrance, but I personally expected much more from it, considering the concept, the talented perfumer, and the Perris house. 6.5/10

Fist I sprayed this on I hated it . It had a weird smell for a first few minutes . Than it opens up and it is very rosy not a true rose . I can definitely smells the musk and spices . It last a very long time . I almost like it and was debating to get a full bottle when two of my coworkers told me they smelled me all day long and they told me this is a bit too granny smell for me. They also said they smelled flowers and rosy all day on me . Definitely worth getting a sample tho very interesting smell but not for me . I like true rose .

Almost immediately, a duet of roses and geraniums is felt on my skin. Moreover, the geranium tries to out-shout the main flower, after which the perfume is named. I don't like geraniums in perfumes. Therefore, it was because of her that the purchase was not destined to take place.

A beautiful rose, quite natural. Rose is the dominant note. I prefer my roses more complex. 6,5/10
