Santal du Pacifique

So coming from country like India we were quite used to smell of sandalwood or Chandan as it’s called in Hindi , I must say I absolutely love smell of sandalwood and even after smelling ton of sandalwood fragrance and oil you can wake we up in middle of night to smell a sandalwood fragrance so when I got to know that Perris monte Carlo house has a sandalwood fragrance I was stoked to get my hands and nose on to it , Santal du Pacifique Perris Monte Carlo (EDP) is not your standard Mysore sandalwood however as the name suggest it is Australian sandalwood which in recent years due to limitation of Mysore sandalwood has gained lot of momentum in perfume industry , Australian sandalwood is little less sweet and creamy then Mysore and more powdery, I must say it smells like poor man sandalwood when compared to Mysore sandalwood however still good alternative and its far better than synthetic sandalwood (Isononyl cyclohexanol) which is used is most perfume now a days . As the perfume develops along with sandalwood I smell bit of carrot and orchid note , this is mostly a linear fragrance with longevity close to 8 hours on skin and more than 10 hours on clothes , I gives good silage and overall good option for sandalwood fragrance specially if you can get it for discounted price which I got , I would love to try extrait version of this perfume however it is very hard to get hold of sadly , I will recommend you to give this perfume try specially if you love sandalwood ! Alot of Sandalwood. Like it very much, it gives me an almond vibe also, + with the slightly stingy carrots and I guess Gurjan Balsam? not familiar with that one. Don ́t get much of the flowers tho. As a fan of pure soft sandalwood i might order a full bottle of this. <3 .This is for me a nice comforting skinscent one, with a hint of a gourmand one, makes u wanna sniff it over and over . Love it. Sandalwood is one of my favourite scents, and I love most of the different sandalwoods I have smelled. In particular, I find Mysore sandalwood essential oil to be one most stunning natural fragrances one can ever experience. Santal du Pacifique is quite breakthrough in the context of nowadays’ perfumery: no citrus, no vanilla, no coumarin, no patchouli, no obvious spice, no fruit, no mainstream florals, no oud, no leather, no cloying sweetener, and no amber. And although it smells more like New Caledonian or Australian sandalwood with added chemicals rather than Mysore, I really love these fresher, softer facets too. The first couple of minutes are very unique: floral, cool, a bit chalky, and bitter. Soon after, all these initial vibes fade away and the naturally beautiful, smooth, woody, creamy, and magically musky (a bit resinous and pee-like in a great way) sandalwood reveals itself to become the unmistakable main player for the rest of the olfactory experience. It's soothing, mystical, earthly, warm, and heavenly. Simply amazing.

I recently discovered Santal du Pacifique Eau de Parfum by Perris Monte Carlo and it has quickly become my favorite scent. This fragrance has a unique blend of notes which creates a woody, spicy, and slightly floral scent that is perfect for any occasion. The opening is dominated by juicy pineapple and warm spices, which quickly gives way to a creamy woody heart of cedarwood, sandalwood, and vetiver. The base notes are a hint of amber and musk, which bring out the subtle floral aspects of the scent. Santal du Pacifique is an easy to wear scent that lasts all day without becoming cloying or overwhelming. I love the way it lingers on the skin and smells just as good a few hours after application. The bottle is also beautiful and looks great on a shelf. If you are looking for a sophisticated woody-spicy scent, then Santal du Pacifique by Perris Monte Carlo is definitely worth a try. I highly recommend it for those who are looking for a versatile signature scent.

I really appreciate Perris launches as they are well-thought. Good quality (not synthetic) ingredients and unusual take of usual perfume themes (like Oud - if you don't know it by now and you are a fan of Oud I do recommend Oud Imperial). But to the point. Santal Pacifique is unusual santal perfume. I am a sandalwood fan so I do follow what a niche market got to offer and this is unusally beautiful. Linear, creamy with a hint of pepper and spices. Simply lovely. Not tacky and not an obvious complimenter so I believe it suits someone who either is a perfumista or has strong self assurance and does not need an appreciation via perfume. This is a scent of intimacy. Of a weekend in deshabille (search the word). In the moments where we want and feel like in a homy, sexy mood. Really worth at least a try. Do not believe the pickle note. It's a lie. Unless someone is a material for pickles:-)

Santal du Pacifique: The Meditative Masterpiece I absolutely love this fragrance. The main player here is a very high-quality, real sandalwood. It is simply heavenly—woody, soft, warm, and has distinctively creamy, milky texture. It’s not a basic, entry-level scent; it’s a deep and silent fragrance for someone looking for something sophisticated and unique. Sandalwood is often used in spiritual ceremonies, and this fragrance captures that perfectly—it feels truly meditative. One of the most interesting things is how it sits exactly on the middle line of being unisex. Even with the powdery, musky, and floral touches, it feels masculine; yet despite the heavy wood, it’s a beautiful feminine fragrance too. It is truly signature-worthy. Rating: 9/10 (8.5 + 0.5 bonus for being a perfect, meditative unisex.)

According to a reputable online retailer, notes missing from the pyramid above: carrot, orchid, violet, gurjum balsam, Pacific sandalwood, dry woods, cashmere woods, musk. I find this a beautifully authentic Pacific sandalwood scent. Very close to precious Mysore sandalwood, more so than Australian. This sandalwood is buttery, a little nutty. There are also hints of dry spice and I do pick up the subtlety of dark green violet leaf. This is probably where the parallel to Le Labo Santal 33 is made with its spicy green nuance. However, the sandalwood note is far superior in Santal du Pacifique and the greens less obvious but offering a hint of something intriguing. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is fairly average; I love spraying this moreish wood to my heart's content.

Aside from a little bit sharp first minute, I don't see any resemblance to Santal 33. On my skin, this sandalwood is divine. It is silky, a little bit sweet, and most importantly, creamy. I am in love with it. I adore violet and orchid side of this perfume. I think it makes it powdery and soft. I don't know how gurjan balsam should smell, but obviously like something that I like. This is kind of sandalwood that I was searching for. I don't know how realistic it is or if it's too linear for the price, but it's how I've imagined creamy santal to be. Very happy that I've finally tried it and thankful to fragrantica member, who encouraged me to try it asap.

This is beautiful though one dimensional. I can't detect the orchid, violet or carrot notes, instead what remains is a creamy, delicious, tropical sandalwood. I also get vanilla and coconut which is not listed. This was a blind buy inspired by the reviewers here, and I'm so happy I did. SdP is smooth and fairly linear after the dramatic opening. Perfect unisex scent, leaning slightly feminine. Longevity is stellar too, more than 10 hours on me. I wish the sillage was better as this stays pretty close, but nevertheless I can't stop smelling myself, so I'm buying a backup bottle in case this ever goes out of distribution.

I am a sandalwood lover big time and this does not disappoint. I have been wearing this almost daily for a month. It is beautiful. I bought my bottle in NM in San Francisco on holiday. The extrait is even better but boy is it expensive, Anyway, this is very reminiscent of Santal 33 which I also own and wear a lot,. But this is more lush, more tropical, less austere. It smells more luxurious and multidimensional, Sandalwood dominates, but there is a tropical vibe happening that I can't resist. Performance is great. Totally unisex.. Recommend without hesitation.

I have tried sooooo many sandalwood fragrances as sandalwood is my favorite note. This, in my opinion, is pure perfection. A very linear sandalwood that is creamy, comforting, stunning. I detect none of that sometimes overpowering pencil scent or medicinal scent I sometimes find in sandalwood fragrances. I've been on a long journey looking for my perfect sandalwood scent, this is it. Love it.

This smells so good! It's not a santal I'm used to. It's very clean and has some peppery, slightly citrusy notes to it then has a powdery and the slightest minty scent. It's very different for me but I really like it. It makes me think of Greek beaches for some reason! It's not beachy but it makes me think of sun warmed woods and desert like plants. It's something I'd buy a full bottle of.

Really liked this scent, found a bottle on sale, but it disappears on my skin within an hour. Not sure if I am going noseblind but I just spray 2-3 spitz. Similar thing happens to me with Santal 33, so not sure if my body chemistry eats sandalwood scents, or if my nose is the problem, but would rec to test this out first! Lasted a bit longer on clothes for me.

LOVE this but either does not last longer than 30mins-1h on me or I go nose-blind within that time. Mourning that bc the scent is beautiful. Lasts a little longer on clothes.

Beautiful fragrance with a lovely dry down; however, very weak sillage / performance. I get the comparison to Santal 33, but much weaker longevity.

My mind springs to a glass of fine oaky red wine. Delightful.

Only does one thing - straight down the middle-of-the-road, sweet, mild, powdery-dry sandalwood, tending more to the vanilla/coconut/floral end than the astringent/green/more masculine end of the sandalwood spectrum - but does it SUPREMELY well. Utterly linear, never changes even a tinge, but it's so wonderfully balanced and comforting and honest that it doesn't matter; and when you consider that it hangs on for up to 9-11h - even on my skin, where so many good scents come to die - it's a positive bonus. Standing ovation! I don't know enough to distinguish the various varietals of sandalwood by geography, but *adore* the note and have smelled scores of scents looking for sandalwood perfection, and this is easily in my personal top 10 if not the top 5. It's not as superlative as Santal Nabatea or Lutens' Santal du Mysore, because this doesn't have their intriguing spicing; it's not quiiiiiite as ethereally wonderful as Affinessence Santal Basmati; and it's more discreet, because less sweet and more pure-woody, than Xerjoff Shunkoin. It's sweeter and less outdoorsy than my beloved Diptyque Tam Dao, so perhaps a tiny hair less exciting. But it's not far off their levels of loveliness - and I found even the perfume (not tried the extrait) from Perris is really impressive on performance, in comparison, and much more accessibly priced. Still not cheap though; I wonder whether there's something as good as this for a little less money yet, because this is so linear and one-note - but it is seriously tempting me. RRP is perhaps a little overcooked, but if you find it at discount, and love your pure-sweet-powdery sandalwoods, do not delay - capture this beautiful thing! For once, this is a scent that truly does what it says it is, with honesty and integrity.

Luxurious Sandal with sparkling Violets, a slight Carrot/Gurjan citrusy fresh background, a Musky bottom, and an amazing creaminess from the Lip Gloss. To my nose, this is a unisex parfum that strangely enough leans a bit towards men. Unfortunately, I do find two distinct drawbacks that stop me from loving the perfume as a whole... the first, performance... from the start projection was almost intimate, and from there, one can only assume that longevity is not going to be great... I’ll update later regarding... The second, its fresh citrusy background... don’t get me wrong, it is very likable... however, it somewhat limits the options to use this perfume as a layering scent. And because of those situations we end up with an amazing scent, that if worn on its own it would have to be constantly reapplied in order to last... and if chosen as a layering perfume, it would be quite difficult to find an appropriate pairing because of its very unique scent profile. Santal du Pacifique can be worn at any time of the year, but preferably indoors... I don’t want to label it as a fresh out of shower perfume... but that’s probably what it is. A very enjoyable slightly fresh lemony creamy sandal scent... with lousy performance. ***Update*** After just 3 hours (and over-spraying) this perfume was almost undetectable on my skin. Whoever says Niche Perfumery has better projection and longevity is just kidding himself.

I have 3 wristbands with pure sandalwood beads. I use them for relaxation, and to calm down. This smells pretty much exactly the same. There is a slight floral aspect to this, on top of a very light musk. It's never going to fill a room, but it's constantly with me. Surrounding me with a cam bubble of woody relaxation. I love this fragrance. And i purchased a bottle as soon as i got to test it fully. It takes 2-3 minutes for the scent to be detectable on me. But once it starts, it's constantly there for 7-10 hours. Not a huge projector. Rather, a small scent bubble. But still so easy to detect. Where: Anywhere, really. I'd say casual, work, formal, even weddings. It's not overpowering, and it's obviously not a clubbing fragrance. But for relaxed or low noise ocations, it's brilliant. When: All year. Winter, spring, summer, and fall. Day or night. Who: Anyone. It's a very unisex fragrance, although some may consider a wood fragrance to be masculine. Personal score: 9/10. I had to purchase a bottle for myself. It's extremely versatile, and it's perfect for stressful situations where you need a way to calm down, as the scent of sandalwood is well known for it's relaxing and calming properties.

This is beautiful and soft, creamy with a gentle hint of spice. The opening has a slightly vegetal note, which is also slightly powdery - this is the carrot I guess, although I had to look at the note pyramid to recognize it as such. It is really quite lovely but on my skin it is SUPER weak and short-lived. My experience is coming from a small sample without an atomizer so I don't know if that's why, but I had to apply nearly the entire 1 mL to get much of the fragrance, and even then have to put my nose almost directly on my skin to detect it. That is what is keeping this in "like" rather than "love" territory.

This is a marine type of sandalwood. As if its scent was carried over a Pacific breeze. True to the name it is a surprising creation. Light enough for summertime, but woody and sensual as the main star is. Genderless. I think it would be perfect on a male, but a female can enjoy it too because it is just a great scent, your mind taken by the Pacific wind. To a certain extend I think it has a sibling in the more mainstream Le Beau Le Parfum, which is also spaciously marine but sweeter and with fig fruits at heart. This creation is precious, spicy and sensual wood centered but also spacious, marine and effortless.

The "reminds me of" section is very interesting, guessing because most of them are sandalwood based fragrances however they are all so different. In my opinion this is closest to Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple but with an interesting nuance to it that I can only describe as "sweaty". Nevertheless it is s beauty for sandalwood lovers.

I have a sandalwood essential oil at home. The real stuff, not a synthetic one. This perfume smells exactly like it. Both are light, this is not a resinous sandalwood perfume. If you know what sandalwood eo smells like, this is it.

A super smooth abstraction of a vegetal sandalwood, there's something almost raw about it, with a distinct green aroma akin to that of freshly cut grass hovering at the top. Becomes a skin scent almost immediately after spraying...

There are some weird reviews below, so I had no idea what to expect here, the note breakdown here is also quite strange and so is the one on the official website. Spraying it on I immediately get a carrot seed vibe, which has a similar chemical makeup as iris and violet, so think powdery and waxy, but a touch vegetal. At the same time you immediately get the sandalwood from the very first second, so on one hand it is a very linear scent to my nose, but at the same time it is quite unusual and complex. So there definitely is a certain powderiness, but i don't get outright floral facets. The sandalwood is a smooth grainless experience of the coconut/creamy variety and feels encased in a waxy sheen, but at the same time it is quite bold with a bit of an exotic funk like you're smelling a coconut paste mixed with milky tree sap giving off a certain creaminess, but also an astringent, slightly smoky quality, slightly moldy almost, but not in an outright repulsive way, more so 'off' and strange. Overall it feels too feminine for me because of that glossy waxiness, but I do appreciate the attempt at an exotic unusual velvety sandalwood. Not my favorite Perris, but an interesting experience nonetheless.

A dry, resinous, slightly smoky style of sandalwood; unfortunately the type I don’t enjoy. I’ve realized I’m firmly in the Mysore team (creamy, milky, warm, smooth-woody). This one is so dry it feels like the moment I inhale it, it evaporates every drop of moisture in my body and turns me into an old, wrinkled witch. The gurjum balsam inside is probably part of the reason it feels this way; it really does match the texture I’m describing. On the bright side, at least it isn’t dressed up with sugary, gimmicky notes. The carrot brings an extra chill, too. There’s even a faint camphoraceous, medicinal edge. I can imagine it appealing to those who chase that “wood workshop” or "sawmill" vibe. One thing I genuinely appreciated is what the brand writes on their site: “Our sustainability commitment: Our sandalwood is sourced with giving back to the environment. How hopeful I was for this one, but my pursuit of the creamiest sandalwood continues on. The carrot seed is very pleasant but fleeting while all other notes but sandalwood are undetectable to my nose. It's a sour but warm sandalwood (not quite pickle-ish but certainly briny) that isn't unsatisfying--just not the composition I was expecting. If you are looking for a sharp, dry, and more cedar-like sandalwood profile, this may be it. Shares some character with Stash by SJP.

Why did they had to ruin this with the lipglossy/plasticky/carroty opening? I don't hate this fragrance but these accords make it a meh for me. Longevity and projection are moderate. Of course sandlwood is prominent, not the pickle juice one (and I don't have a problem with the latter).

Refreshing sea breeze + coastal vegetation, but has a woody/powdered milky texture. A really pleasant salty air smell and a really pleasant milky creamy smell... but together they do make dry sour milk. I like it overall but it weirds me out. 7.7/10

Yes it's right. In the heart and in the base note it is actually a beautiful, authentic sandalwood scent. But the top note is terrible. A mixture of soft-boiled carrots and some smooth wood. I do not like it.

The carrot note is super off putting for me

After reading these rave reviews I am shocked and so disappointed in this frag on me! It reeks with my chemistry - like stale pee!! I have never scrubbed more vigorously to wash away a perfume. All I can say is unfortunately for me, my chemistry is extremely finicky - out of the bottle it smells heavenly!

I smelled this at the store and I fell in love with it right away. I’m a sucker for lipstick-y scents and this was just my cup of tea. I didn’t spray it on my skin because I already had perfume on. I decided I would think about it but as soon as I got home I ordered it. I just couldn’t get the thought of it out of my head. In the meantime, while I was waiting for it to arrive a couple days later, I walked by another store selling this perfume. I went inside just to smell it because why not😆 I was excited and wanted to fresh up my memory of it.. but to my horror, it smelled awful!! Really harsh, in your face and almost straight up tobacco😳 I walked out the store in disbelief and was sad until it finally arrived. I open it up, sprayed... and what a joy! It smelled exactly like I remembered it, the first time. So so beautiful😍 I guess that other bottle went bad🥴 At least I know what it will smell like, if it turns😂 Anyways, I finally had the chance to smell it on my skin and I absolutely love it, but it’s much softer on skin than it is on paper. That lipstick-y vibe is almost nonexistent, which makes it much more unisex in my opinion. I ain’t sad about it though, because now my husband can wear it too. It’s still very creamy and the sandalwood is beautiful. What’s strange though is, when I smell it up close to my wrist, I can barely smell anything.. but when I move my arm I get strong wafts. So it’s totally projecting and it has a good silage, I just can’t smell anything up close😳 Very strange. I will update on longevity later on.

This perfume features a natural australian sandalwood note that I love. It is a scent that makes me think of dry wood in a desert environment, or how would it be like to smell sandalwood powder, which is how sandalwood sawdust is marketed. To my nose, along with that sandalwood, nuances of fig, coconut, even lactonic are present but, paradoxically, at the same time that I perceive this creaminess and a certain sweetness, I feel it like a dry woody perfume. The sap no longer flows through this sandalwood but has already been exhausted by the scorching sun of the australian deserts. Several people around me perceive it as somewhat more masculine, but to my nose it is totally unisex. It lasts about 10 hours on my skin, with notable projection. Like other woody perfumes, it conveys sobriety and calm to me and I enjoy it very much. Scent 8.5/10 Duration 10/10 Sillage 8/10 Quality/price 6.5/10 Versatility 7/10 Packaging 9/10 Would I buy again? I would consider a full bottle when I finish my travel size

Santal du Pacifique is a quite unusual sandalwood perfume, ...at least in part, because it employs an unusually sourced sandalwood. New Caledonian sandalwood (Santalum austrocaledonicum), also from Vanuatu, is a sandalwood similar to that of the classic Mysore, but with additional heavier, balsamic nuances. Depending on taste, one might readily even find it preferable. Perris Monte Carlo seems to have further enhanced the resinous facet of the material by adding gurjun balsam (Dipterocarpus turbinatus), as well as musk, ...but the floral notes, and that cryptic mention of carrot, are only faint or fleeting in comparison. Instead, this fragrance should be thought of as one mostly composed of woods and resins. Santal du Pacifique is not only an exceptionally fine sandalwood perfume, but also one with a scent profile distinctive enough to stand apart from other more conventional interpretations of that ingredient, note, and genre.

I remember I bought this for myself as a birthday gift when I turned 29. it was the priciest fragrance I had until then. I personally loved it, although on one hand still wasn't sure if I truly did. a couple months into using it, I made my mom smell it and she said it smells like damp laundry that waited too long in the washing machine. and turned bad of course. that association kind of ruined the feeling this fragrance evoked in me. the following year I left it at the place I was living. I had moved abroad. left this perfume among a bunch of other things I wouldn't take back to my hometown. never looked back. never missed and wondered what it actually smelled like. never even regretted leaving a pricy bottle of a perfume in a house I moved out of, either. was an interesting journey. now that I see it has carrot as its top note, makes sense though.

about 3 or 4 years ago, i got on a MASSIVE sandalwood kick and bought around 30+ different samples/decants of perfumes that featured sandalwood as a main accord, and after a while, i managed to group sandalwood scents into 3 or 4 different groups; paired with white floral (somewhat femme), paired with rose, paired and quite heavy/resiney and paired with spices (unisex); this one tends to follow the first of the categories, and it reminds of a time at WSC where i wore 2 or 4 scents on my body at a time in an impatient manner to get through as many of my decants and to find my holy grail. whilst this one is pleasant enough and quite good, it is mostly sandalrome and the other aromachemical sandalwood and doesn't feature enough mixing and/or blending. a no from me, but it's pretty damn good...

Definitely nice Carrot Sandalwood tandem, notes announce it to be a more experimental, it's not, not an artsy or a multidirectional, initially stays pretty much in the humble fun zone. The way the Sandalwood starts to warm up is my personal attraction in this, still don't get the florals, it's a nice nice focus on the warming woods amongst the Carrot canvas, not the other way around. Will be asleep by then but the dry down in this will for sure be a movie.

I had high hopes. But it's not the santal for me. The opening is really great. Carrot cake, sandalwood, and "lip gloss" - there is a slick plasticky note. The rest of the fragrance is pleasant as well, though I was hoping it would lean more lactonic and slightly less sweet. The dry down is very good, but it almost recalls a tobacco accord to me. A little masculine. A nice "straight sandalwood" option. Do sample. 3.5/5

Ok yes this is very santal 33, with less plastic note, more carroty, and more of a make up feel. That must be the lip gloss, comes off as a powdery orris. Quite chalky, unique, not really sweet or floral at all. Unique one to try for sure and sandalwood / make up bag lovers will enjoy this. when oversprayed I get too much carrot that makes me nauseous but in the dry down its such a beautiful and luxurious creamy sandalwood, I wouldn't mind my house smelling like this too I layered this with lataffa nasheet since I adore the creamy woody cardamom vanilla in it and unexpectedly made the most REALISTIC mint tea???? I don't mind at all I adore it

I normally love PMC perfumes but this is another sandalwood that smells like the kind used in Santal 33. So what do I get? Pickles! I am old enough to remember the wonderful sandalwood perfumes of the 80’s and NONE smelled like pickles. So what exactly is going on that I cannot find a good sandalwood today without that smell? This was a scrubber on me.

This has a sharp woody aspect . I got the same type of thing with G&B White Sandalwood. Maybe this is the pacific/ Australian sandalwood versus creamier Indian sandalwood. The sharpness fades after 15 minutes or so and leaves a simple, wood scent. Leans masculine.
