Vanille de Tahiti

Vanille de Tahiti is a grown-up vanilla scent, more creamy than dry, made with good-quality spicy vanilla that is complemented by floral and woody accents. There is a soft underlying booziness too. Yes, I get the indolic edge to the opening, but it settles, mellowing into a smooth vanilla scent, resembling vanilla pods, with just the right amount of sweetness. VdT opens with the aforementioned indolic floral note, perhaps champaca (I can't be sure, as I'm not familiar with champaca). It initially feels curiously plastic-y to my nose for a few seconds before the indolic effect comes into play. I usually associate indoles with jasmine, and there is definitely no jasmine here. The florals are more yellow than white. I thought this was going to be a strong dislike based on the opening, but within minutes it settles into a beautiful, pitch-perfect vanilla scent. The vanilla is spicy, smooth, natural-smelling and creamy - delicious yet grown-up, not syrupy or even too gourmand. The initially discordant yellow floral accord segues into a creamy, slightly tropical ylang ylang note that complements the vanilla beautifully without overpowering it. Woody, musky notes creep in as it dries down, a logical progression for a vanilla scent. The smooth, subtle sandalwood marries beautifully with the creamy vanilla, giving it a luxurious lift. It fades eventually to a sweet amber-vanilla skin scent with touches of salt. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is a unisex vanilla scent, despite vanilla being considered feminine. A beautiful example of its genre, VdT is sweet and comforting, but very wearable. It is an everyday cold weather scent, cosy and elegant like a simple cashmere jumper. One of the best vanillas I've encountered in a while, this beats Matière Première Vanilla Powder. FBW if not for my Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille. 4/5.

I first read about Vanille de Tahiti on Fragrantica, and when it showed up on an editor’s “Best of 2020” list, I knew I had to track down a decant. Within the first two hours of my initial test drive, I ordered a 100ml bottle. Vanille de Tahiti is now one of my favorite florals, and specifically champaca. Yes, champaca. Vanilla is present in the form of the flower only, and has no connection to vanilla pod gourmands the majority of people are accustom (and which I also love). I believe the fecal or urinal scent some people are picking up is due to this flower. So if you are unfamiliar with it, do not blind buy. I personally love the slightly animalic champaca, and if you are the same then get your hands on a decant. I’m wearing Vanille de Tahiti on a cold early winter day, and it’s lovely. I believe this is a versatile floral that can work through all seasons. It leans exotic, creamy and beachy...not in a suntan lotion way, but in the way that I want to wear it on a tropical beach. I find Vanille de Tahiti the definition of sexy. And on my skin, is the polar opposite of the most upvoted Fragrantica fragrance: Chopard’s Casmir. For some reason Casmir is a chemical bomb on my skin. Even though I know that there are synthetics in 99.5% of all perfumes, I do not pick up anything unnatural in Vanille de Tahiti. I will end my review with a word about performance. Typically my skin eats perfume. And I get about 3 hours from Vanille de Tahiti before turning to a skin scent, so not too bad. Throughout the day I keep picking it up, lightly, and those around me can smell it too—I’ve gotten compliments from those close to me. I’m impressed, I’m thrilled I bought the 100 ml, and I look forward to wearing this again in warmer weather. One of my Top 20 perfumes. Thanks to the editors that put Vanille de Tahiti on my radar.

The reviews are 100% accurate, the opening is V-I-L-E. It smells like poop. You'll feel an unprecedented level of embarassment and regret after spraying this on your skin in-store (I did). BUT! Give it a chance and be patient! It should last for 10-15 minutes in the worst case scenario. After this, it turns into a very natural, delicate and unique smelling vanilla. It smells really discreet and uncomplicated but longevity is really good (once you've reached the good smelling phase, thank goodness) and it is very different from the other vanilla-focused / minimalistic vanilla fragrances I've smelled so far. I feel like no description of mine could do it justice, but it just feels like your skin naturally smells like vanilla, really. It doesn't blatantly smell like perfume, nor does it smell like you're a walking cake fresh out of the oven. It smells like for some reason, you've been handling raw vanilla beans all day and nonchalantly touched your skin afterwards. It's so beautiful. I would definitely advise you to try this perfume on skin and not trust what you smell on paper! All perfumes play with your skin's PH and temperature but I find that Vanille de Tahiti is one of those perfumes that is even more sensitive and dependant on these aspects. Paper nor clothes won't reflect what you'll get on your own body. You might be better off ordering a sample and trying it in the comfort of your home. Start with ONE spray and WAIT. The fecal notes shouldn't linger for too long, but they will definitely scar you if you rush into this unprepared lol. Also, other people smelling you and commenting while in this wild stage will certainly deter you from trying it again or even waiting for the dry down. Wait before you can only smell the vanilla yourself before asking people's opinion about it.

I blind bought this when it came out, and I have no regrets. Blind buys can be tricky, however being a vanilla lover and being generally impressed with the PMC line (Ylang Ylang Nosy Be and Santal du Pacifique are favorites), I was intrigued and also confident it would be at the very least a quality product. Thankfully, it is! In shortest terms, I would call this a photorealistic floral vanilla. Comparing it with similar vanillas on the market, here is what it is NOT: It is not boozy like SDV; it is not spicy or medicinal like Lune Feline; it has no citrus top-notes like Orchidee Vanille; it is not salty like Couleur Vanille, nor is it sugar-sweet like Indult. However, like Indult, it IS somewhat linear and quite realistic. The vanilla is pure and natural, and blends beautifully with champaca and ylang ylang. It is a touch powdery, but not nearly as powdery as Black Vanilla by Mancera. The tropical flower notes are similar to those in Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, but the vanilla still shines proudly. The fragrance is very well balanced: not too light or too heavy. This is an appropriate release in July for summer (in the Northern Hemisphere), as this could easily be considered a summer vanilla fragrance due to the tropical flower notes, but without any coconut. Meanwhile the base of sandalwood, amber, and musk provides just enough balsamic richness to make this fragrance versatile for all seasons. I think Vanille de Tahiti stands alone in the vanilla fragrance genre as a well-balanced and blended, photorealistic floral vanilla with above average longevity and sillage. A solid release.

I’m baffled by the fact that in 2024, the year of vanilla craze, plus lots of vanilla new releases, nobody talks about Vanille de Tahiti. This fragrance is the most delicious tropical vanilla scent I’ve ever sniffed so far. It’s the perfect all year round (but not hot weather) vanilla perfume for those of us who also love tropical flowers. Smells sweet, rich, expensive, warm, exotic and absolutely delightful. The entire black collection from Perris Monte Carlo is just phenomenal. I have ordered a few weeks ago some samples after owning Ylang Ylang Nosy Be for two summers now, and I love all of the scents I’ve bought samples for. Whether we speak about the ylang ylang, patchouli, cacao, osmanthus or vanilla one, they are all absolutely amazing. Scent wise and performance, top notch quality perfumes and fairly priced for what you’re getting! Without second thoughts, Vanille de Tahiti goes straight to my to buy list, alongside the cacao and the patchouli one! With the risk of being challenged by other people in the review section, who might not love it as much as I do, I would call this a yellow floral, tropical vanilla masterpiece! Edit 10.02.25 I bought a full size bottle of this beauty after testing my sample again! It’s too good to wait to try to find it on a sale.

Vanille de Tahiti by Perris Monte Carlo might shock you (for better or worse). This is not your usual gourmet fragrance; it is a botanical, carnal and almost "dirty" interpretation of the raw material. Unlike synthetic vanilla (vanillin) which resembles sweets, Gian Luca Perris used a fine Tahitian Vanilla. The result is a scent that smells like a real pod: creamy, slightly peppery and very exotic. The meeting between Champaca and Ylang Ylang creates a hypnotic beginning. Don't expect citrus freshness; here the entrance is dense, floral and almost narcotic. Ylang Ylang gives that sunny and "buttery" nuance typical of tropical flowers. Vanilla emerges not as sugar, but as a thick, natural cream. It is enveloping and warm, with an intrinsic sweetness that is never cloying. The mix of Sandalwood and Amber supports the structure making it woody and deep, while the Musk slightly cleans the finish, preventing the perfume from becoming too heavy. Vanille de Tahiti is a perfume for those who love "raw" and elegant fragrances. It's an adult vanilla, sophisticated and a little mysterious. If you love fragrances like Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille or opulent floral creations, this is a must-try.

I'm a little disappointed because I didn't get that poop accord in the opening of Vanille de Tahiti. :) Instead I'm getting a nice vanilla custard throughout the wear of the fragrance. As expected, the ingredients are high quality, which makes the simple composition deep and interesting. I'm getting the Perris Monte Carlo amber accord underneath the custard. The amber is has a clean musk in the base. On my skin, there is nothing dirty nor animalic about this fragrance at all. I've only smelled real champaca once in my life, so I'm tentatively assigning the creamy floral note to the tropical floral. Sometimes there is a tiny trace of banana and maybe a little root beer float. VdT could be an all season signature scent: the vanilla is rich enough to hold up in the winter, while the tropical florals give it a summer time vibe. This, layered with Amber Gris by PMC, makes me think of the new Good Girl Blush by Carolina Herrera, albeit higher quality. 4/5 Edit: VdT is going on my all time favorite vanillas list: Memoirs of a Trespasser, Cockatiel, and Fire at Will

This is sooo good! Initially, for the very first seconds, I can smell something that could be probably defined as a little fecal or animalic, but I have to say it is the very same note I can also briefly smell in the very fancy vanilla sugar I use sometimes for baking, so I suppose this is how real natural vanilla smells (at least the Tahitian variety), although I don't smell it so much in whole vanilla beans. Anyway, this note (which is very light) lasts only few seconds and then the fragrance develops into a lovely, warm, not too sweet, floral vanilla, very delicate and natural smelling and very long-lasting. Because of its floral nuances, I believe it is a fragrance very appropriate all year round, independently from the weather / temperature, but if you are very sensitive to sweet fragrances, maybe you would avoid it in warmer days. Overall, the quality of this fragrance (as all Perris' fragrances) is very very high and the price is absolutely reasonable, in my opinion. Definitely a fragrance and brand which should get more attention.

I don't get any poop fecal waste notes! I just get a deep, dark, animalic vanilla scent that is really captivating. I have the sampler box of Perris Monte Carlo and it was the first vial I tried. I love it, and I think I might need a full bottle of this little furry beast. Update (04/12/2024) I got my full bottle and sprayed it on my skin like 5-6 times...for the first 5 minutes I was in Vanilla heaven, like the finest ice cream vanilla scent ever! then I smelled directly from the skin and got the fecal note other people have been complaining of! how annoying! it is really poopy! but fortunately it went away completely in less than 15-20 minutes. Buyers beware! I didn't get the poop note from my sample! if you are willing to endure 15-20 minutes of a fecal note you will survive...but do you really want that? The vanilla note is incredible. The best vanilla note I have smelled in a very long time. Sublime! I am going to keep my bottle, I will stay home for the first 20-30 minutes...

Not an easy one. After reading the reviews I was prepared for some unpleasant rotten flower or fecal matter kind of smells. And indead, there it was. Right away. Something too sweet, too sharp, something left too long in the tropical sun to rot, a smell of sweet decay somehow. But then you realize almost right away that there is something absolutly exquisite and wonderful behind all that, waiting to get through once all the unpleasent stuff has finally decayed away. It takes about an hour or two to fully complete its metamorphosis into the most gorgeous and long lasting vanilla scent imaginable. Hard work? Oh yes. Worth it? Right now I definitely think so, because it's new and exciting and I'm working from home this week where I can let the transition take its time without offending anybody. It's like a mountain that is very hard to climb but rewards you with the most beautiful view. The question is how often you are prepared to climb it once the novelty has worn off.

Magnifique celui ci , je suis un amateur des parfums de vanille et celui ci est l'un des plus réaliste que j'ai eu à sentir jusque là. Ceux qui s'attendent à une vanille gourmande sucré et qui plaira à la masse comme la tendance de ces dernière années vous pouvez partir , ce n'est pas du tout pour vous . Il plaira aux nez aguéri et aux veritable fan de vanille naturelle et sauvage . C'est une vanille photo réaliste, l'odeur de la gousse que vous coupez comme en patisserie pour faire un gateau c'est EXACTEMENT ca c'est surprenant ! Une vanille naturelle, sombre , forte , puissante mais atténué par la champaca et l'ylang ylang qui sont eux aussi superbe. J'utilise souvent de l'huile essentielle d'ylang ylang et celle du parfum est vraiment magnifique. Ce parfum respire les matieres premières de qualité , bravo Perris Il projette bien la 1 ere heure mais devient vite un parfum de peau discret mais merveilleux.

Ladies and Gentlemen, here is new face of Vanilla . If you imagine this Vanilla as Vanilla you have experienced before , you may disappoint. This Vanilla is unusual but extremely elegant. It's appear with Ylang Ylang ( This one is "Ylang Ylang Nosy Be" )and Champaca . after presented by Ylang Ylang and Champaca then he is with biggest star Sandalwood( "Santal du Pacifique"). they are just like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, must be together . This Vanilla give me a little feeling of liquor . Amber colour liquor like Cognac, yes little tipsy. I'm in a beautiful dance hall , sitting and having good drink, watching nice dance . Or I'm in a Beautiful island. After dinner at the beachside, thinking about todays things , dreaming about .... Usually I don't mind of sex, age, time for using perfumes, but this perfume I have to think about. Not strong sillage but stays very long time.

Man I cannot forget about this vanilla! I had it two days on my clothes and over a day on my skin. Guys, I HATE vanilla in perfumes, like this chemical vanilla kind. I cannot stand it and I get nauseous from it. But this one? WOW. This one smells like real vanilla, the one they use in cakes. It is not overly sweet, it is perfect for cold and hot weather. It is sexy and not overwhelming. I am going to buy this one. Would not define it as unisex at all. edit: So I finally got myself the bottle. It last on me 2 even 3 days. The opening reminds me of sharp carnation flower. After 2-3 hours it smoothens out and becomes a soft vanilla. Wow. Just wow. Love this smell. So exclusive, strong, yet not overwhelming. edit: So my fiancé just called this vanilla smell and he does not like it, cause it reminds him of baked goods ( I don ́t get why that would be bad though)

the reviewer L8eenL8 basically took words out of my mouth, I would just put it slightly differently: this perfume is what TF Vanilla Sex TRIED to be, but in my view failed miserably. I think the slightly dirty lactonic note that you get almost immediately is not champaca like some reviewers below guess, it seems that's the pure unadulterated vanilla absolu. The exact same dirty note that TF vanilla sex has, but in TF it's unbearable, repulsive, way way too strong for good 15mins, and in this perfume it's a bit provocative and raw and slightly challenging but that's clearly the intention, and it works. and I feel like Ylang-ylang and champaca actually help mellow it out. I love this perfume, it is simply great. I tried it after TF Vanilla Sex, but this is the original you guys.

Okay, so the fecal note? It’s there. I didn’t smell it when I sampled this at the store.. I completely fell in love with the perfume and impulse bought the 100ml (they didn’t have the 50ml in stock), took it home, sprayed it, and voila, there it was, like an over-filled diaper genie. But the note goes away after a bit on my skin at least and then it’s just this delightful, not-sweet, gorgeous vanilla. Can layer this with anything. While sillage is not much, I can smell it on me a good 7-8 hours later as a strong skin scent. It’s really delightful if you can get over the feeling that you just sprayed yourself with some quality dirty diaper for a bit. 🙊 PS. As you can see from my rating, I still love this regardless of the poop note. It’s that good.

This is 100% my favorite vanilla. It's not cloying or candy, sweet or play doh. It's just perfect. I do like animalistic notes in my perfume, but honestly, I don't think it's a big element in this one. But I'm assuming that's what some people smell as 'poopy' . To me, it smells very much like a real vanilla pod - they also have floral notes because the vanilla bean is the stamen to a specific orchid - and fruity - in a vanilla way. Not a sweet way. If you love vanilla, you have to try it. The only drawback is the price - I really don't want to spend $200 or more. And it's not discounted or duped or anything. It's a great vanilla, though, so I might just bite the bullet and buy it. Very underrated fragrance, IMO

The opening is floral and tropical, the indoles of the champaca are present, and overall it's a very realistic vegetal smell like crushed flowers and stems (let's not forget that the indoles attract pollinators...nature does stink). It's an interesting and unusual mix between the vegetable/indolic scent of the flowers and the vanilla. Within 15 minutes the floral notes retreat to the background, and the vanilla appears in the shape of a crushed vanilla pod (that doesn't smell like the artificial stuff, and also has indoles). On me, lasts about 5 hours before becoming a faint vanilla skin scent. I think it's a great vanilla for those who find the run-of-the-mill vanilla scents too sweet, or too "innocent".

This perfume smells exactly like real vanilla bean pods filled with vanilla caviar. Vanilla caviar is exquisite, and utilized in baking numerous desserts. As someone who loves to bake goodies, Vanille de Tahiti is like having the delicious smell of vanilla caviar leftover on your fingers after scraping the pod. It's earthy, sweet vanilla enhanced with sandalwood and musk to give it an airy quality. The intensity of the earthiness decreases throughout the wear, but it's still in the background to give the fragrance structure and prevent it from becoming a stereotypical vanilla. Anyone stating that this has a "fecal" note is out of bounds and is not familiar with what true vanilla beans smell like.

Gorgeous grown up vanilla. On the first try I found the indolic note repulsive. I came back to it a few days later and something clicked. Yes it's fecal but in the best possible way. It's an incredible sweet heady floral and soft creamy vanilla. From hating it at first, it's now my favourite vanilla, and actually in the top five of all my perfumes. I'd been wearing it a while when I was given a bunch of lilies, and suddenly realised that's what it smells like. Not everyone likes the scent of lilies, so if you don't, this is definitely not for you. It's not a crowdpleaser, but so far nobody has told me I stink! Projection and longevity are excellent, lasts all day, and forever on clothes.

WOW - this exceeded my expectations. A beautiful , creamy vanilla - Haagen Daaz vanilla ice cream with vanilla buttercream but somehow still has a chilled, refreshing effect and doesn't go cloying cause the finish is powdery and clean. The dry down turns floral, earthy and more mature and sophisticated- it kind of resembles a tropical botanical garden in the peak of summer in a good way . This is lovely and so distinguished. Completely unisex vanilla. How would I characterise this person from their scent trail : beautiful and natural, well-travelled, studious, they have depth, they read excessively, they are super fun and playful but they are paradoxically serious and grounded.

For all vanilla lovers out there, try this one! I love it from the sour champaca opening, to the vanilla bean pod/ musky-ylang-ylang dry down! To my nose this one is extremly sexy, tropical and just heavenly! I know there are many mixed reviews but I feel there is a crowd where this one would fit perfectly. Maybe not those who want to smell straight up like vanilla cake, but those who love tropical leaning fragrances with a mature vibe. It does have a heavy dose sweetness, but not the typical ”cake” type of sweetness that many vanillas do have. This one has Instead a floral sweetness, like sweet nectar. It does it’s magic on skin! 😍

This is another masterpiece from this house. I am new to Perris but I tried a bunch and this one stood out as a diamond to me. This is the only vanilla perfume I have ever smelled, that smells exactly and literally like a vanilla bean. The whole bean, dark and sticky, when you cut it open to get all the tiny seeds. Leathery, animalic, sweet and floral, vanillic. But still, quite lightweight. Not a gourmand, not sticky, not too sweet, not dark or ambery or smoky or nutty. Just a literal vanilla bean. This is it. You want a perfume that smells like vanilla bean, this is what you are looking for.

I don’t usually enjoy vanilla notes. They are all too overwhelming and sickly sweet, but this is gorgeous. The vanilla smells natural- not fake- and the underlying yellow florals add a complementary sweetness that isn’t too much either. Not sure where people are getting cow poop or diaper pail, but then the cows I’ve known ate hay and grass - not flowers - so their poop is more green and grassy. I smell the banana pudding that others have mentioned and find this just lovely. I’m glad there’s no coconut, as that is another typically “tropical” scent that I don’t care for in my fragrances.

Okay the first time I tried this I also found it a bit poopy and had a hard time moving past it. I decided to try it again since I've been trying to open my heart and nose to indoles. I love it now! Wow! When I was a child, I smelled with a child's nose etc...now I've matured and I love a hint of the barnyard. And really, trying this in the heat of summer, I only get the slightest barnyard whiff, if any, in the opening. Usually it's just a beautiful, light floral vanilla with good longevity. It's such a lovely tropical vanilla without any tropical cliches. I can't stop wearing it.

She is sexy and a compliment getter. Every time I wear her to work I get complements from coworkers and customers. Most recently I was told I smell “amazing” (scent game going strong!). To my nose this is a lightly sweet vanilla floral. Not heavy on the sweetness but a vanilla made creamy from the sandalwood. She smells like opening a fresh carton of luxurious vanilla ice cream. This is a cool vanilla but bright enough to wear all seasons though I prefer to wear her spring through summer. Longevity and performance are fantastic. The scent lingers on clothes or skin for 8-12 hours.

This is an amazing and beautiful vanilla fragrance. Depending on my base lotion I get the rum note to come out. Beautiful for layering or on its own. Deep vanilla scent. It has true sandalwood notes with the vanilla that make it great for date night. It isn't to gourmand foody Vanilla, just a beautiful signature scent for adult. Definitely unisex because I layered with I.A. Walfflecone and my husband layered with Imperial and it boosted the vanilla scents of both.

The best vanilla I've ever tried! Not too sweet at all but not boozy, woody either. Just perfectly balanced. The florals don't register as florals per se, I think they add creaminess and just a liiiiittle spiciness as well. Think cinnamon, not anything stronger. It just feels completely natural, nothing loud or synthetic or cloying about it. Excellent performance too, you can smell it throughout the day without ever being too much. Impressive creation!

This smells like a buttery, fatty, whipped cream type of vanilla to me BUT it's pretty faint/weak, I'm getting the slightest bit of the florals mostly Champaca not too much Ylang which is nice it's a more original less overdone tropical flower. If this were cheaper I would totally buy it and spray with reckless abandon due to the faint light quality this one has, because it really does smell amazing, when you can smell it, if that makes sense.

Vanille de Tahiti was a love at first sniff for me. It's not a gourmand vanilla, it's not sweet, it's actually dry, very unique, warm, and slightly woody thanks to the sandalwood, while the champaca makes it creamy. Vanille de Tahiti lasts a long time on my skin (8h at least), although it doesn't project much, it stays "attached" to my skin making a linear scent bubble. A great different vanilla. A big "love" for me.

On my skin, it is Lilies and Vanilla. Great in the winter. I'm curious to try it in different weather conditions to see if I get the "problem" everyone else is having. Edit (One year and 2 months later): Tried it in all different seasons and I have no idea what anyone is talking about re: any problem. This changed from a Like to a Love and I am suddenly finding myself looking to buy a bottle. It's Gorgeous.

I have tried their musk and was not impressed, then i sold my bottle of their patchouli. But I am keeping their vanilla. It's the dirtiest vanilla I have ever tried! I absolutely adore the champaca note! I can hear the sandalwood and the sweet ylang-ylang very well as well. It's such a unique combo! I have never tried anything like that! I am so in love and will keep it permanently.

The most feminine floral vanilla I own in my collection. At the beginning you smell yellow flower petals with stamens mixed with vanilla pod.On the dried down is very sweet and creamy . It doesn't have biggest projection and it becomes skin scent after few hours,but it doesn't matter to me.I will still re-purchase when I will run out. Just gorgeous.

It’s poopy, I guess, when you catch a whiff, but as you study the scent a bit more you’ll notice it’s really a beautiful indolic floral vanilla. Very tropical, and the vanilla! Oh my, so rich and wonderfully complimented by the florals. The dry down is better but I still do enjoy the “poopy” indolic opening lol, so interesting!

I’m one of the ‘unlucky’ ones who can’t smell poop. Hahaha...I only smell some very deep, realistic even a bit sour creamy vanilla. I like it a lot and have a bottle. Nevertheless I like to ready the reviews below, especially the ones related the smell to cow menure or poop. That makes me laugh.

First time i smelled it I hated the opening. Same with YangYang nosy by. Yet i was drawn to it. Now in summer my nose really got used to it and appreciate it. I love it and i cannot stop smelling it. This is sooo sexy and addictive. Do not give it ip after 1st smell.

Sweet, creamy, sexy and a little boozy,delicious scent to wear!! I have gotten so many compliments with this one! For me it is a unique scent and I spray it on my clothes before I go out and it lasts forever. I recommend this perfume!

This starts out a bit tropical with the champaca/ylang ylang, but you can smell the vanilla throughout. I really enjoy this one and it lasts forever.

I need to come back and try this one again at some stage. I was disappointed not to get the "poop" which many talk about. This was much more realistic vanilla pod with soured flowers dipped in vinegar to my nose. Seemed interesting, I seemed to enjoy it....but I need to try it when there's less other smells going on stuck to my body and clothing, along with less olfactory fatigue. Edit - So I tried it again... very impressed! The sour champaca really adds to the realistic quality vanilla, progressing in the wearing into a cloud of creamy vanilla, which never veers too sweet. If you like the smell of actual vanilla pods, with their slightly woody, plasticy and urine tones included - this is heaven in a bottle. I know this is as realistic vanilla pod as it gets, as my significant other HATES the smell of them intensely. Whilst he likes synthetic vanilla in fragrances I own he absolutely cannot stand real vanilla and this made him recoil and describe it as disgusting. So, I won't be wearing this around him even though I've purchased myself a bottle, since I adore realistic vanilla scents. This comes second place here to L'artisan's lovely Vanilla.

Yes. There is a sourness in the opening that either reads as urinal or like pollen. Sometimes on my clothes it comes off more sour and urinal and other times reminds me of floral pollen on skin. However the dry down is great. The sour floral pollen helps to balance the vanilla. I have tried so many vanillas that give me a headache because they are so sweet and so strong and cloying. This is like a vanilla skinscent. I had it last all day although I would not expect anyone to notice it. This is probably the first vanilla I could find myself wearing often. Okay if anyone knows of a fragrance with this drydown without the sour opening let me know!

The opening here is YLANG YLANG shouting from the rooftops and vanilla, with a side of champaca. Ylang ylang, like jasmine, has a musky undertone, and people complaining about manure and animalic notes perhaps need to examine their relationship with ylang ylang because it is a potent beast when it's allowed to be the center of attention. The musk is strong as well as a base, with amber and sandalwood invisible until the drydown and even then they are not in charge. This is honestly the most ylang ylangy ylang ylang (that was fun to type!) in my whole collection, and I have a big collection. It's tropical and delicious.

This is the second Perris Monte Carlo perfume I've tried. I really like this! There is a very exotic but there was a touch of ammonia in the beginning. I will try it again though. However, it wore into the ylang ylang very strongly and the vanilla made it smell a bit like coconut. It's not a strong vanilla and I wish it were. It almost moves towards a tropical fruit but doesn't quite get there. You kind of want a pineapple or passion fruit aside. If I can make it past the ammonia and it doesn't stay at all, I'd recommend it. I need another try on freshly showered skin.

This is the sluttiest (I use that affectionately) vanilla I've ever smelled. On paper, the resemblance to zoo enclosures is uncanny. It's animal poop plus vanilla. On skin, yes, poop still for about ten minutes, and then this very natural, high-quality, smooth and not-sticky vanilla. Fascinating... I'll have to try this again but I may just end up buying this. Longevity: average Projection: soft to moderate (but I'm in tropical weather) Polarity: unisex Occasion: not work appropriate imo and not among polite company. Maybe music festival or date night.

Ok so, this is an amazing and such and underrated vanilla scent. Yes, it is indolic and it is not a safe blind buy!! BUUT, once the manure type of note ( must be the champaca) goes away, on my skin it dissipates in less than 15 min, you can enjoy the most amazing sugary, yet not cloying vanilla. And no, this is not a gourmand or bakery vanilla, this is a sexy, classy, vanilla perfume. Not a love at first sniff kinda perfume, rather a drydown love. It is worth waiting for the drydown on this beauty! Try it first, be patient and you will be wowed!

I really like this one. Another blind buy based on reviews. Initially it reminded me of a vanilla cream soda. And I do still get that. However the floral notes do come through, as do some warm woodsy notes. I initially burned through a third of the bottle I was so obsessed and it seems to POOF disappear from me in a short time. I do wish it were a little more potent. I can see buying another bottle in the future, but for now I wear this a little more rarely.

I own and have sampled many vanillas over my lifetime. This one has the pleasure of delighting, but not capturing. It is fresh, light, and airy - almost fizzy in nature. The yellow florals combine with the amber and sandalwood to make this smell like a breeze in a sweet, warm meadow. As it warms, the musk and amber settle over like a soft blanket on vanilla flowers. This is faint and whispy on my skin with little to no silage.

Vanille de Tahiti Perris Monte Carlo WHOA! The Champaca initially is overpowering and lasts dominantly for way too long to my nose. This note gives me a headache. The Ylang-Ylang is there too at the start, nicely. I really had to wait for the Champaca to settle and dissipate. Finally, after much time, the fragrance brings all notes together nicely. It’s long lasting. Overall, it’s nice and worth having.

Dark vanilla. Very close to the natural scent of vanilla pods: balsamic, slightly powdery and a bit animalic. For me, personally, it almost has a bit of fecal undertone, but a veeeeeeery small percentage of it. The base is woody and rich. I agree with the commenter below me that this is a tropical vanilla suitable for summer. I can detect an indolic note in the florals, but not notably so, it didn't jump out to me until pointed out. No idea where some people are getting "gloomy" from. If you like ylang ylang and natural vanilla, this is worth a try - very likeable and reasonably priced.

I laughed so hard at the « fecal note detected by some » 💀💀💀 some of y’all’s poop smells good then damn It’s actually a beautiful well balanced floral vanilla. Not too loud, perfect for office hours, comforting scent, seeet but not overly sweet. Pretty unisex too. Very natural too, no synthetic smell detected. Would def recommend to try it!
