Vetiver Java

If you love your vetiver scents, this is a hidden gem. Massively underrated, IMO. Sharp citrusy opening followed by a beautiful earthy, green drydown with the finest hint of rose (?). The amber rounds this off wonderfully. Not sure my nose is picking up a peanut vibe but there’s an extra note in here I can’t fathom. For the price I picked this up for, I’m not gonna guess any more notes, I’m just gonna enjoy the vibe. Fantastic.

Wow! This is incredible! Agree with @belledesairs, I am also getting a peanut note. It has this delicious savoury thing happening. I would find this soooo sexy on a man but I am also buying a bottle today for myself, I think it's going to be gorgeous for summer nights. As far as Vetiver's go, this is very well rounded and wearable....BUT probably not a good blind buy as it's quite unique and may not be for everyone.

This is a scent that grows on you. I wasn't sure if I loved it the first time I sprayed it on my skin, but the dry down sold me. It really is beautiful and unique. I wouldn't buy it blind since it might not suit all; but for me, it's a *chef's kiss*. Slightly more masculine, but I pull it off as a small (but tomboy-ish) woman.

Vetiver Java is an ever evolving scent. It starts with a nice mix of vetiver and geranium. After 20-30 minutes, the geranium fades, leaving a nice blend of vetiver with grapefruit and bergamot, and then finally transforms into an ambery-musky scent with an earthy undertone. This is a smoky vetiver scent, and it is definitely more masculine than unisex, moderate longevity and sillage. I really like it. Do not blind buy, even if you like vetiver. Sample first.

I get a peanut vibe with this fragrance. Very good quality of the Vetiver. I love this one and my husband too. Completely unisex but I layer it with two sprays of Ylang Nose be (Perris) and I am in heaven. A summer/fall for most people. For me a Spring/summer/fall one.

Nutty (even slightly sweet) vetiver with somewhat zesty and citrusy opening. Reminds of (homage to) Hemingway by Masque Milano, but this one is less sour and earthy. If you like fresher vetiver scents, this one could be a very nice option. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

It smells a little like lubricating oil. It's male. Perres makes great scents, but this Java Vetiver disappoints me a little. Oud Imperial and Vanille de Tahiti are my favorites.

Joe cruises in to the meeting room, purposefully giving off just the right amount of something that is sweet, but with an underlying nuttiness. It reflects his orderliness and good manners. He is never over-excited or inappropriate. Ironed shirts are always worn; no tie required. Everything is sufficient as-is. Neato fragrance. Exquisitely blended bottom to top, with quality natural-smelling ingredients. An “interesting” experience. Two major notes to my nose: A lemony top, and a vetivery bottom. Where they meet is indeterminable, which contributes to making it a great concoction. Problem is the vetiver (though clean as a whistle) — it is sooooo hazelnutty. Slightly pungent in the way hazelnuts can be. Otherwise great. Can belong in the office: professional and inoffensive, yet causes curiosity.

The openin is the best part for me personally; it is loud and rich. The earthy vetiver is detectable from the beginning, alongside the grapefruit. It settles quickly to something linear. The vetiver looses its deep earthiness, and becomes diluted. There's a certain freshness to it, which I suppose is the geranium. After not that long, it becomes an amber-musk, with a slight hint of earthiness. Lasts OK, but projection is weak. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.

Life of the vetiver is not very long, half an hour to full hour max, very warm and peppery. Longevity is very poor.

Wow, I concur with @MarkoPeeko, this is hugely underrated. You can definitely smell the quality of the natural materials used in this. On the vetiver scale to give you an idea of where this sits: this is heavier than Grey Vetiver, but lighter than Sultan Vetiver. Sits in the middle within the Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire type of world, does not smell like Vetiver Extraordinaire, though. Having said that, I'm surprised by how clean and fresh this pulls, considering it's using javan vetiver, which is more known for its smoky, almost "burnt" aspects. I can smell the "nut" aspect people have talked about below, but that's definitely just an aspect of the specific javan vetiver itself, rather than an included extra nutmeg or hazelnut note. I love the geranium in this, and if I had one criticism, it's that I wish that note didn't disappear as fast as it does. Off the bat, I can guarantee this won't smell like what you think or envision it will, if that makes sense. Even reading the reviews below doesn't paint an accurate picture of this fragrance. I have an extensive collection and have put my nose to quite a lot of vetiver fragrances; however, I have never smelled anything like this one. Quite an "interesting" experience. Opens almost "sour" with the natural bergamot and grapefruit oils, as well as a BIG wallop of the smoky javan vetiver, and the geranium helping out to pull it in a green direction. The timur pepper is a really interesting addition and lends an extremely distinct, "piquant" spiciness to the blend, which I can definitely see being divisive to some noses. Eventually, the fragrance dries down to a "fresh linen" accord with the amber and musk, which actually smells super close to an argan oil/shea butter type of scent. Can definitely smell the linalool in that stage of the fragrance's development, lending an airy accord and a much-needed softening of that oily, burnt, piquant javan vetiver/timur pepper combo. Very smart perfumery on show. There's also an underlying sweetness in this that helps keep it from tipping into something overly butch while staying masculine. The opening and mid is 100% masculine-leaning; it would smell very "odd" on a woman, in my opinion (obviously wear what you want). The shea butter/fresh linen drydown is surprisingly quite unisex-leaning, and I can see anyone wearing it at this stage. It's a fragrance that goes from quite a pungent, nutty, burnt, smoky green to a soft linen/shea butter accord. Ends up the polar opposite of what it started as. Extremely interesting perfumery on show here. The blend is creative for a vetiver fragrance, with the interplay between the sour, smoke, green, pepper, and fresh linen accords resulting in something fairly unique; this isn't "just another vetiver fragrance" at all. I've never smelled this DNA before in a vetiver frag, 100% unique. Something I will say is that this is not a safe blind buy at all. While the fragrance overall does pull fresh and clean, javan vetiver is definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone. That note is very pronounced in this fragrance and is extremely "nutty", dank, earthy, and smoky, like others have mentioned. The timur pepper is also quite pronounced in this and smells "funkier" than regular black or pink pepper. I happen to love both of those notes in this, but don't say I didn't warn you if you blind buy this and find the javan vetiver/timur pepper combo revolting (I can genuinely see some people smelling this and retching at it haha). Overall, I really like this. I work in Jakarta as an expat, and smelling this makes me want to head into Java itself and climb Mt Gede, taking in the smoky, earthy soil and vetiver grass as I hike. This is a very "visceral" fragrance. I would also describe this as a very "decadent" vetiver fragrance. You can definitely smell the high-quality ingredients that have been used in this. Extremely fitting of the "Perris Monte Carlo" name. You can imagine billionaires stepping off their super yachts smelling exactly like this fragrance. Office safe. This smells crisp and professional. I work in corporate and easily see myself wearing this alongside Grey Vetiver and Lunar Vetiver. Not really a "daily driver" type of vetiver fragrance, though. Wearing this every day, five days a week, would get a bit "much" and cloying on the nose after a while. But for a couple of days a week, this would work a real treat. If you love vetiver, this is an easy blind buy. If you like vetiver, I suggest sampling it first. If you dislike vetiver, stay far away from this. 8/10 Edit: If you press your nose to your sprayed skin, there is something very slightly animalic/funky humming away beneath the other layers I've already mentioned. It's very light, but it's in there, reminds me of the smell of mate, which I've encountered in other fragrances like Kenzo Jungle Homme (the mate note works really well in that fragrance). I have to reiterate that this is a very obscure kind of vetiver fragrance —extremely unique. Do not blind-buy this without sampling. Edit 2: This works extremely well as a linen spray, too. I've been having my housekeeper here in JKT spray it on my freshly laundered bed sheets. The way it dries down to that shea butter/laundry musk smell combined with the smoky java vetiver makes my bed smell really sexy and sultry haha. Seriously, give it a try.

وتیور جاوا تحفه ای از اندونزی . خیس و مرطوب . سبز و با طراوت حس قدم زدن تو جنگلهای مرطوب جنوب شرق آسیا . طبق داده های سایت جیان لوکاس بعد از بررسی های نمونه های مختلف وتیور دست گذاشت رو وتیوره جاوه . نمونه ای گرونتر و اعلا که از هر ۱۵۰ کیلوگرم ریشه خشک وتیور جاوه . تقریبا ۱ کیلوگرم اسانس روغن وتیور بدست میاد از طریق تقطیر با بخار آب . وتیور جاوا تمام وجود آدمی رو بعد از تست پر از شعف و شور و زندگی می‌کنه . محصولی نوبل و پرمایه و سنگین که بوی تمیزی و زیبایی میده . وقتی وتیور جاوا رو اسپری میکنید انگار از تو دل جنگلهای بارونی . ی گیاه جنگلی رو از ریشه درمیارید ‌ . بوی ریشه های مرطوب و تازه و خاک بارون خورده با کیفیت 4k . این حس درک از رایحه انقد جدید و جالبه که جز تحسین هیچی تو ذهن آدم نمیاد . تو شروع عطر جدا از بوی خاک و ریشه گیاه وتیور بوی آجیلی طور هم احساس میشه مثل بوی فندق تازه برشته شده . من تو شروع وتیور جاوا یاد ادکلن جدید کارون کام ژو سوئی افتادم . ولی این حس گذراست و آکورد سیتروسی با بوی وحشتناک زیبای گریپ فروت جدال پایان ناپذیر خودشو با وتیور شروع می‌کنه . دوز آکورد سیتروسی و حس فیزی و معطر گریپ فروت زیاده و شونه به شونه وتیور سبز و تازه تا ساعتها پایداره . وتیور جاوا کاملا مدرن سازی شده رایحه بروزی داره و برخلاف اکثر وتیور محورهای قدیمی یا موجود تو مارکت بوی صابونی و باربرشاپی نداره یا خیلی کمتر این حس القا میشه . ساعتهای طولانی ی صبح تا شب بوی گریپ فروت و وتیور روی پوست تن دلبری می‌کنه تو قلب عطر حس مدرنیته و شهری و امروزی کاملا مشهوده . تو ترکیبات این عطر موسک سفید و امبرکسان نقش بوستر و مدرن سازی وتیور رو دارند ولی در کنار اصلا حس سنتتیک رو نمی‌ده این عطر و پشت وتیور و آکورد سیتروسی پنهان هستند . مثل تابش نور از پشت پرده . درای دوان عطر بعد از ساعتها نقش اروتیک خودش رو داره نت وتیور حس سوزان و سبز و تند و چرب به خودش میگیره و آکورد سیتروسی کمی از طروات شروعش رو میبازه و بوی بن بن لیمویی طور میگیره . وتیور جاوا ی پیشنهاد ویژه برای اقایونیه که دوست دارند ساعتها بوی فرش و باطراوت و امروزی داشته باشند ‌... از نظر شبهات مورد خاصی به ذهنم نمیاد ولی بطور کلی خیلی به فضای خانواده انک نواغ لالیک شبیهه . در مورد پرفورمنس باید بگم جدا از پخش بوی خیلی خوبش . تو موندگاری مثل اسید می‌ره زیر پوست و اگر دوش نگیرید می‌تونه چند روز راحت روی پوست احساسش کنید .

Bright peppery vetiver smoke I did not expect much from Vetiver Java, and not because Perris doesn't have my confidence (indeed i enjoy much of their stuff). It's rather that I have smelled so many vetiver dominant fragrances and have come to the conclusion that most offerings fail to commit to a certain direction and end up smelling like weaker renditions of classic vetivers, to the point where i wonder what the point of owning anything but the classics is. Vetiver Java surprisingly does none of the cliches. Despite its classic presentation, it goes for a surprisingly unrefined wild card approach and pumps an unadulterated smoky camphoraceous patchouli-adjacent javan vetiver full of fizzy grapefruit and piercing peppery facets. It gives you the full vetiver experience, smoke, camphor, damp roots and dense greenness, while feeling charged with fizzling energy. The result is the halfway point between dry peaty tobacco and the bright bitter zingy sensation of biting into ginger. Its surprisingly intense and unique, possibly a bit overpowering and the typical ashy cigarette onion-y peanut facets some people dislike are definitely there. Simultaneously the execution and quality is there, and what it lacks in refinement it compensates for with intensity and vibrancy.

Perris Monte Carlo's Vetiver Java is the first vetiver (titled) fragrance that I've sampled in a while. ...If one works there way through the offerings of a house, sooner or later, one will be encountered. Before sampling, I did wonder if this would really be a vetiver scent in the full sense of the note, ...about half of them are, half of them aren't. Actually, Vetiver Java falls close to the line in that regard. There is indeed some smoky, grassy, scorched earth for the Javanese vetiver, but the note has become integrally shifted toward something that resembles another modern, synthetic 'oud' wood accord. Some of this might be due to an interaction with the gingery, dry citrus of timur peppers, ... but of course, its also quite obvious that this formula contains one or more, unlisted, synthetic, wood-toned bases. That may be acceptably commonplace and beneficent in perfumery today, but of course it does increase resemblance between fragrances in an overly efficient way too. Honestly, Vetiver Java could have been conceived as another flanker of Lalique's popular, vetiver-centered Encre Noir. The EV drydown is a bit more coolly aromatic (residual cypress), while the one for VJ is a touch more sweet (rose-geranium, amber), but they are certainly kissing cousins.

This is a bold and romantic vetiver, very woody with leathery and almost boozy facets. No soil for me, but a resinous dry smoke. Very dark and, let me repeat myself, romantic! No fireworks, no plot twists here, just a very good and solid vetiver release with focus on the material. When I sprayed it on and could smell how full bodied this composition was I braced myself for the stinky drydown that more often than not ruins the party with vetiver fragrances (Guerlain's Vetiver and Encre Noir are no go zone for me, and SOMETIMES I get it even with the ultra refined Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frederic Malle). Man was I surprised when this scent carried on dark and proud but with no stinky incidents. I'm glad the house included this in my order: had it been for me I would have never chosen a vetiver at this point after so many misadventures. This was a pleasent surprise!

Almost peanut butter side note that's making this so spectacular. Sheer stand out on the Vetivers shelve due to that, on a constant chase for Vetivers, not even pathom an assumption like this haha. Starts off straight up edible with the nutty and the warmth, keeps that for a while and sure enough continues to activate the Java Vetiver. Tried once few years ago got nothing like this, got way more raw bitter straight to the point plain Vetiver.

Don't worry, Vetiver Java doesn't smell like Encre Noir at all, and most of all, it doesn't have EN's stinky drydown - god, do I hate that stench! It's the perfect vetiver for people who don't like vetiter: inviting, woody, smokey but not acidic, smooth, someone in the reviews below said "nutty", and it definitely is. Classy, reassuring, comforting and romantic.

Nutty, spicy, a little oaky smokey. Leans masculine, great quality, if the notes were oak, smoke, peanuts and citrus I'd believe it. Not my genre but respect for quality. Lovely woodchip drydown which I am really enjoyijng. Vetyver tipically does not dry down in a way I like - it's usually tart and herbal in a way but this is very woody (dry but fresh woodchip)

Somehow this reminds me of my 2015 HBoss Bottled Oud - a less sweet version of HB BO in my opinion but both of them have this dark medicinal vibe (in a good way). I actually like this - something about it that keeps making me come back to my arm and sniffing away like an addict on lock! I won't say it's a love, but it's a big like....what's not to like?
