Perry Ellis Bold Red

I absolutely love this, but I also know this will only appeal to certain picky people like myself. The reasoning is because I've been looking for a fall scent that wasn't some kind of overpowering vanilla, cardamom, tobacco, or tonka bean dominant fragrance. Although tonka is listed, the drydown is simply a smooth woody sweetness without one note trying to stand out from the rest. It reminds me how how Acqua di Parma fragrances are sometimes. I love that brand because instead of the notes competing for attention, they all work in harmony to create a smooth blend. This is what I get from Perry Ellis Bold Red. It's great for people who want to smell great, but don't like to stand out or indulge in any narcissistic or egotistical tendencies. Great for those who just want to blend into a crowd, but feel at peace and confident within it. Strong red apple-esque top and opening with a very pleasant woody and slightly sweet (not overpowering) drydown. Lasts about 3 hours for me. I recommend spraying on clothes instead of skin to extend it even longer. Selfishly speaking, I hope a top Youtuber checks this out because I think it deserves more attention so that it won't be discontinued due to lack of awareness. Personally speaking, just me, I think it really invokes a sense of walking in some idyllic suburban neighborhood during the autumn with Halloween soon approaching and people eating fall-appropriate fruits and treats. It's a great vibe.

The more I wear this the more I like it. Yes it's not very complex and yes it does smell synthetic . But good is good. This is a sweet medium dark woody fragrance. It's starts with red apple sweetness with a green lime sweetness and a touch of green. The lightest ginger comes on. The apples turns into more of a red apple skin while the green notes start to fade. Once the base notes take over you get red apple skin , light sweet lime, mahogany light musk and Tonka. While the green notes and lime add a zing to this fragrance it's all about the apple mahogany and Tonka. It's almost candy like. What surprised me the most is the performance. I did spray a little extra to really get it going but it lasts. It projects for maybe an hour and a half. But really sticks on the skin for a solid 5 hours. 2 neck sprays 1 on each wrist and 2 on my shirt. It's not a crazy projector so you don't smell offensive but at a closer distance you can smell it for hours. I'm a big fan of this right now. It's very versatile. The dark woods and red apple make this wearable into the fall. The green ,like and candy like sweetness make it usable in the summer. I give this an 8/10

A fresh, fruity, muskier take on the typical designer “red” DNA (citrus, spices, vanilla, wood). Surprised at how much I like it - super versatile, needs the heat to perform better however performance is about average, 1-2 hours of slightly above average projection, after that sits closer to skin but you will get whiffs once you start moving again, 5-7 hours longevity. Smells great and a great mood booster, perfect if you’re looking for something to wear for anything, from the gym, to out the shower, gas station run, etc. There are better options for the office but for those spaces in between something like this has great purpose. I don’t get much spice at all, overall its a super fresh, cold red apple, musk, woods, tonka, and some zing from ginger. Cold, fresh fruity kind of feel, balanced with some warmth. 8/10 imo

As a worker in one of the most physically demanding trades, concrete finishing, this is a scent that matches the intensity of performance and masculinity in my line of work. When the sun is baking my skin at 105° and we are only halfway done, the scent hits and reminds me I’m not a quitter. When it comes to the trades, guys like to wear scents that just don’t belong in the field, they show off their “wealth”, but aventus just doesn’t belong in where we go to sweat and beat up our bodies just to do it again the next day. Perry Ellis Bold Red, it doesn’t smell cheap considering its cost, and it inspires me to move, despite its bland bottle.

Big time sleeper. Fresh lime and apple accord and a zingy opening which gives way to a peppery, spicy middle and a woody masculine dry down. The “bold” is apropos because of the opening and the pepper. Excellent for anytime casual wear. You’ll smell good. It’s in a similar vein, but far superior to Burberry “Hero” because it projects and lasts much longer. Blind buy worthy...get it online from discounters, it’s a no-brainer. Amazing smelling fragrance, with that being said, performance SUCKS. I only get around 1-2 hours longevity before it’s gone. Great if going out for a quick trip on a summer day, maybe to the store or something. Don’t recommend for daily wear. Recommended sprays are about 6-8 (i did 3 sprays and i didn’t get very good sillage). This fragrance smells like a red apple, and very fresh. Just absolute horrible longevity and sillage.

Smelled this at JCPenney and I loved it, fruity and sweet but also a bit spicy. Do not buy this at retail price ($70-80), you can find it for much cheaper online/on the rack, if you can get for $30 or less definitively an underrated cheap score! Bottle is nice and quality as well, looking to try Perry Ellis Midnight next

The opening on this is fantastic - a really fresh apple and lime - not super spicy like most red colognes. The opening fades pretty quickly unfortunately but it’s nice while it’s there. Dried down to an appealing sandalwood/musky scent. Probably works best in hotter weather; worth it for the price.

Super nice reddish green freshie at this price point. I have always liked a green fragrance that hits fresh! The apple note is really nice right off the bat, smells sweet but clean, and unlike many green freshies this one lacks that clinical, astringent, "medical" vibe, and I work in a hospital, so I can appreciate not smelling like the O. R. As it dries down, there is a nice, woody, musky sweetness that still retains a "fresh out of the shower" vibe until it slips into oblivion around the 7 hour mark. One thing I will address is the sillage/longevity of this juice, something I noticed it gets dinged on. In order to make this project and last I spray 8 sprays right across my chest before putting on a shirt. With most fragrances, this would make me extremely unpopular at work, but this stuff just pulls constant compliments. Male, female, young and old, people legit love smelling this stuff on me, bonus that it's so cheap!

It smells Red but I wouldn't say it's very bold. This reminds me of Davidoff Hot Water which is a good fragrance also but not a beast in projection. Bold Red is more of a fragrance to spray on clothes for better longevity. I got about 6 hours which isn't bad. I would say it's a good solid fragrance for the gym or day time in warmer weather. I get all of those notes listed above subtly. This would also be a good fragrance for a work place because it's non offensive. It's a good casual day time scent. Also try Perry Ellis 18 Fuego. It's not in the database here but it's another fantastic Red fragrance from Perry Ellis that gets no attention. It has a strawberry note in it which you don't see that often surprisingly.

Smells surprisingly fresh. I thought this was gonna be super cinnamony/spicy & woody. The dry down is really sweet, kind of like a candy. Got this from TJ Maxx for 16 dollars. 6.7/10.

If only the opening lasted longer, this would be a homerun. But it's entire evolution takes about 5 minutes, and the dry down isn't nearly as appealing as the start. It's really vibrant and juicy on top thanks to the wonderful apple and lime combination. But those notes are a flash in the pan, gone within minutes. So are the warm mahogany wood and pepper notes which also die a quick death. The top is so enticing that I can't help but feel disappointed by the quick landing on a generic shower gel accord that's anemic vanilla with a vague cinnamon and a touch of light wood - but no zip, no spice, no depth. This ends up being a barely pleasant enough cheapie with very average performance, worth perhaps the $20 I paid for a big bottle of it, but one that leaves a strong feeling of "what might have been" if those top notes lasted.

Very nice for the discounter price ($25). Synthetic, yes but definitely pleasant smelling. Fruity & Green sweet opening. I also get some non-distinct floral note, but more of a supporting note than a starring note. I also get a little ginger, but not really getting much black pepper. Musky, slightly woody base. I don't get much Tonka here. As it dries down, I'm starting to get a slightly aquatic undertone/vibe, but could just be how the notes blend together. I like this fragrance and enjoy it, but realize that it's not a unique profile, but for a cheapie, it's actually surprisingly good. Don't pay retail for this. Presentation is pretty standard for the line aside from the Red coloration. Starts out a pretty good performer projection-wise, but the longevity falls off a cliff at around the 4 hour mark. It smells strong close up for an hour or so. Can be worn anytime aside from winter as the cold air will eat this alive.

As a blind buy I was worried it would smell too much like Davidoff Hot Water or Dunhill Desire (blue, red or silver). It smells “red” but a bit fresher than your typical red warm spicy. It gives off a Nautica Voyage Heritage vibe to my nose and is definitely along the “shower gel” lines as opposed to groundbreaking. It opens somewhat sweet red apple and fresh from the lime, and transitions into a warmer mild red apple/tonka/woody scent. Definitely generic, so it’s crowd pleasing and I’m guessing most people will think it smells good. Picture you’re red juices (Eros Flame/Hot Water/Desire Red) just lighter and more “sporty”. Not a bad pick up for $22. Possibly redundant so if you already have a few red fragrances don’t let it keep you up at night by not purchasing. Overall decent juice.

Got this for 25$ at Marshall, the bottle is a super heavy frosted red glass, with a fairly solid cap feels quality in the hand. Definitely smells like you would imagine from the bottle. A bit fruty, spicy, citrusy, kind of like a holiday fruit punch cocktail. Sadly it's not strong enough though. To compare to another similar fragrance, it reminds me of a light version of Davidoff Hot Water. The scent is nice but performance is severely lacking. Too bad, this would be a bomb if it were stronger. Update: the more I use it, the more I like it. Became more peppery and woody, smells great, but performance still lacks...

Gorgeous, sweet juicy apple opening. Unique finger lime note -- not that it stands out in olfactory terms to regular lime, but fun nonetheless. The apple note persists into a slightly drier, powdery and musky drydown which is pleasant but not as good as the opening. Unfortunately, this scent lacks in performance and doesn't project even though it's an EDT. You either need to carry a decant, overspray or wear it to somewhere where you don't want to turn heads. Nonetheless, it's worth buying just for the opening.

Almost got a sniff test of this today, but SA was busy with another customer. The notes make me think of Dunhill Desire, can anyone confirm? I am wearing 360 Red right now, and it isn't quite red enough for me.

This stuff is a steal for the 19.99 I paid for it. It’s very fresh and easy to wear...don’t spray it and put your nose to it right away, just enjoy the fresh apple sillage that this stuff leaves
