Vetiver Royale Absolute

I absolutely adore vetiver, so I'm always on the hunt for scents that properly capture its chthonic dark magic. Outside of niche perfumery and masculine scents, vetiver most often shows up as a supporting actor rather than the main event, which makes me sad. The gold standard vetiver-centric frags by Guerlain, Creed, Frederic Malle, Dior and Tom Ford are all marketed to men. I find gender roles in perfumery to be quite silly and I buy whatever appeals to me, but it was still refreshing to see Vetiver Royale Absolute being marketed as unisex. Progress! That being said, this frag probably pushes the boundaries of what's considered comfortable unisex territory for most people. I will disagree until I'm blue in the face, but the fact remains that most people will probably find this one to be quite masculine. So it goes. I am so happy with this scent, which was a blind buy. The fragrance is high quality and also extremely affordable. The vetiver is front and center, loud and proud. The opening is an explosive, dry, spicy green -- vetiver is the star straightaway. In the drydown, the other green and woody notes peek out to say hello -- juniper, cedar, and patchouli. So lovely. There is no floral here to soften things up -- this is a straight up forest scent. The oud is restrained and lurks at the base, providing yet another earthy dimension without usurping the whole composition (which oud tends to do). Longevity is moderate on me -- 4 to 5 hours. Sillage is on the softer side; it's not a beast (but it's no mouse, either). The bottle is hefty and elegant. If you're into dark, earthy scents and love vetiver as much as I do, I highly recommend giving this one a go. I am beyond pleased.

Bought it a year ago or so for my wife because she likes more woody scents. Its still almost a full bottle so I wondered if she didn't like it. She keeps it in her bathroom and while I was in there I noticed it and gave it a sniff. Liked it enough to put some on. Its not bad. Freshness about it with some juniper and prehaps citrus. I might have to steal it from her as I love vetiver and it has a really nice vetiver. Unisex I suppose but to my nose leans masculine.

Oh no....The least unisex of PE oud line.This is for older males.My favorite from this line.I love the scent, it has good projection and longevity....Love the blend of vetiver and patchouli here....Oud here is little...

Decent vetiver Fragrance. But as others have mentioned this is a deep, dark, earthy and rooty vetiver. I'm sure the patch and woods help with it, but it is definitely an earthy one. Performance is on the shorter side. Sillage is average. As a vetiver fan it wasn't my favorite, and I sold it to my brother in law.

I'm a huge vetiver fan and was really looking forward to receiving my bottle of Vetiver Royale Absolute since Black Vanilla Absolute was a such a stellar find last month. Although I have only worn it once after it arrived the other day, sadly I wasn't blow-away by this fragrance. My initial impression is that it is a tepid like, but I will be wearing it a few more times before posting my thoughts about this one. Not blind-buy worthy...even for vetiver enthusiasts. Update: after wearing this one a couple more times I am basically getting a rooty-green vetiver, earthy-patchouli and perhaps a touch of juniper, pepper and cedar...no oud. I love vetiver (and oud) fragrances, but I'll reach for Dior Vetiver, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or a two-dozen other vetiver fragrances ahead of this one. So far, Black Vanilla Absolute is the gem in the Perry Ellis Oud collection IMO. Moreover, performance was less-than-stellar; lasted 3-1/2 hours on my skin and sillage was soft-to-moderate.

A bright opening with the dominance of juniper which quickly subsides. The heart is too delicate, with a very soft oud and dark rum notes, due to the contrast with the start is too faded. The base is quite dull, similar to the classic vintage chypres for me. Unremarkable fragrance. Just another curtsy to Terre d'Hermes (more or less). The composition is weakly assembled, unbalanced and unfocused. Sounds outdated and secondary, but it is not bad: this scent quite suitable for everyday, adressed to men over thirty who likes vetiver. Not uni, 100% for male. 6/10

اول 10 دقائق.. يقدم لك العطر الڨيتيڨر أبهى حالاته.. طازج وندي.. اندفعت لأعرف سعره واعدت شم معصمي بعدها أكثر من مره وكأنه حلم جميل واستفقت منه مبتسما.. أصبح حلما ورضيت بالواقع وامتنعت عنه.... تراجع الڨيتيڨر وظهرت نوتات جعلته كرائحة قديمه نوعا ما 😓.. اكره المقدمات السعيده التي لاتعكس مايليها ثبات وفوحان العطر مخيب 1/10 جمال الرائحة 7/10 للمقدمه

First spray took me right to the petrol pump. Heavy heavy gasoline for the first 30 minutes then a casual dry down to something more manageable and wood-like. Lasted about 4 hours before completely disappearing. it is definitely not for women IMO.

Sadly, this cologne is not anywhere near my country's shores! One of the most "elusive" oud colognes around. Would definitely give this a trial going by its notes!

It reminds me a little of Off bug spray. This is definitely a fragrance that fades into a skin scent pretty quickly. Not in my top picks. 4/10
