Albizia

First of all I want to point out that ordering from Phaedon from the US was AMAZING. It was shipped same day and got here in ~3 business days via FedEx. I blind bought this because the hunt for a Texas Mimosa scent many years ago is what began my fragrance curation/collection/hoarding~ It’s not a very common note in perfumery...and when it is it’s almost always just a fleeting top note. B&BW butterfly flower is the most authentic “soliflore” (ironically as it’s not a note) and this does not dethrone it~ (Edited to add Celestial Jasmine ALMOST dethrones butterfly flower; butterfly flower is a little more mimosa; but CJ is overall just a better fragrance.) However, this is the most interesting Mimosa (Silk Tree) fragrance I’ve tried~. The silk tree manages to stay the main point of the fragrance for the entire wear! (Yay!). But, it’s only the “sweeTART” element of the blooms, they’ve removed the lily/almost banana-y floral aspect and replaced it with a salty mossy ambroxan. I love it and think it will be wonderful in the fiery humid furnace of hell weather that follows the tree’s blooms here One small weird association, something about how the notes mix reminds me VIVIDLY of the inside of every Anthropologie??

Smells like my niece eating fruit snacks—strawberries and that lovely baby smell. One of my favorites right now.

Very similar to BR540 but with a Cherry top note twist.

Enjoying this one! It's very femme--I got the fruitiness a lot on the open--it feels juicy. I see the red lollipop vibes after a few minutes, but it isn't an unadulterated or overly strong sweetness to me--there's almost a dustyness to it. Drydown after a few hours is more powdery/floral, but not baby powder energy. I think I feel the amber coming through. It's a nice scent, and also very much not my vibe 5/13/24: tried this again & I think the vibe this gives me is "red lollipop melted on the seat of a hot car coming back from a day at the beach." Like the lollipop has gotten dirty/dusty. It's nice & weird & not something I'd want to smell like, but I like it in the abstract

This smells like what a fruity $1 cherry/strawberry lollipop tastes like... I remember having a silk tree at my old house and really enjoying how it smelled when I was young! A beautiful delicate floral, slightly sweet, a little powdery... And so I really wanted to smell it again as there's none where I currently live. Now that I have my sample -- This isn't it! There's this synthetic fruit scent reminiscent of really cheap kid lollipops... needlessly sharp and sticky. There is a funk here too but it works against this perfume's as it just smells like dirty malls and unaerated public spaces. Either my memories skewed over time or this really is just a crappy cheap "girl" perfume. I suspect it's the latter.

A one-dimensional sweet fruity floral perfume, but if I like the opening, that’s never a deal breaker. What is a dealbreaker? I find Albizia is not realistic or natural. Possibly the blame lies with the synthetic ambergris note, though I am sure there are other notes to blame in this composition which are not listed. I can see this working on a preteen girl as Albizia reminds me of Lip Smackers—the popular lip protection every girl loved. Final thought is that this scent is from my 1970s childhood memory.

So, this is another attempt to capture silk tree blossom in a perfume. It's one of my favorite flowers. It's very fragrant, with a scent reminiscent of raspberry, violet, mimosa, honey, wood, pollen. The exotic-looking flowers are pink and look like pom-poms. The name of the tree is Albizia; and it's also called Persian silk tree, or sometimes mimosa. This fragrance is very reminiscent of BR540, indeed... and it is way too sweet to be called Albizia. It's more like Albizia candy. I get some unpleasant salty and medicinal aromas, too. The mimosa scent is overshadowed by the BR540 accord. I'm partially anosmic to BR540. I always feel like it plays mind games with me... Ugh... Same thing here. It's one of those fragrances... I can't seem to understand this fragrance at all. I feel like it's playing mind games with me. And I don't like that... Just because I didn't enjoy this, doesn't mean that it's a bad fragrance; it's nice. If you like BR540, you might like this one as well... I'd add that it's missing the violet and raspberry accords, that silk tree blossom flowers have. Why can't they make like a straight-up silk tree blossom fragrance? There's no such thing on the fragrance market... Longevity: It's long-lasting, for sure; it even survived the washer / dryer treatment, but what's the point, when you're partially anosmic to it, and can't get the whole picture. Projection: sometimes I really can't tell ... well, it's not a skin scent, so there's that.
