Falling in Love

I absolutely love this and first bought it when it first came out over in the UK (about 10 years ago)and it was my favourite Philosophy perfume (I have used them all). Then about 5 years ago it disappeared and I was told it had been discontinued and was gutted and so bought the Unconditional love instead BUT it didn't have the same impact or vavavoom (I was forever being told with Falling in Love how great I smelled by men Lol) I also bought both versions of Trish McAvoy no9 (the original & sexy) as it smelt so similar to Philosophy Falling in love but was over twice the price (BUT you can't put a price on smelling good and receiving compliments Lol) and so whenever it was available to purchase on ebay I would buy some (as long as it wasn't a ridiculous price) BUT now it is once again available to buy on QVCUK and they have the EDP and in the 120ml size so I made sure I bought 2 of them (which also came with the full size body butter and shower gel) at a fantastic price of £35 for all 3 items. So once again I am really happy and can spray away and smell like tooty fruity sweets and getting nice compliments again because it smells so unique (blackberry fragrances are hard to find in the UK)So once again I am really happy that Philosophy listened to the customers and brought this back (I don't know if it was discontinued in the USA?) AND they have also now brought out the EDP (which lasts twice as long as the old EDT) Luckily fragrances seem to last on me anyway so even with the EDT I could still smell it hours afterwards especially if I layered it BUT I must admit Philosophy Fragrances do not last as long as other brands but they still have quite a good staying power. If you love fruity fragrances that are not sickly and/or smell cheap and love blackberry then this is definitely one for you and if you like compliments from wearing perfume this is also the one for you (you will probably find it is the men that compliment you more when you wear this fragrance Lol men seem to love fragrances that have a sweet almost food/sweet fragrance smell??? This fragrance isn't offensive, overpowering or headache inducing either. It is just a fragrance the smells great, sexy but cute, sweet, subtle, different and just has that certain something that you can't put your finger on and works day or night and in the office or on a date. Do you think I might just like this a little???? Lol x

As one who has always enjoyed the heavier fragrances, turning to Philosophy's line was surprising for me. Recently I was in the market for lighter perfumes that still packed a punch for my olfactory senses(as a teen I wore Tabu & Shalimar), so finding light yet strong was going to be difficult. I'd been ill for quite some time and needed different venues than I'd customarily worn. I'd always heard about nurses wearing the Philosophy line so I thought now was the time to try it. I'd actually become quite enamored of Falling In Love after trying it. This is a feminine comfort perfume,all snuggly and perfect for rainy, gray days. It's a beautiful musky-vanilla, with dollops of bitter berries that are just slightly sour. That might sound off-putting, but the sourness keeps Falling In Love from becoming too sweet or cloying and gives it an unusual edge instead. Sometimes you just don't want or need any candy, because you just can't handle it. This is a bit of a fun and playful perfume with a slight effervescence to it to lift your spirits. All the components are there for exhilaration. It's seasonless, too. Four sprays lasts for a few hours within a close range so it's not a sillage monster nor is it a skin scent, either. If you're looking for a quieter scent in the musky-vanilla, sour berry range, you've found it. I did sample Falling In Love first, but honestly, I returned and bought a bottle soon after. That's how much I enjoyed this fragrance. For some reason it stayed on my mind, and that says a lot to me.

This is so nice! I've probably gotten a reformulated bottle but it would be great to wear to bed or as a pick me up. A fragrance I immediately thought to compare this to was sweet like candy by ariana grande. They don't smell exactly alike but the blackberry and jasmine in both are very similar. This seems like a lighter version of sweet like candy. I have to say though,.. I can understand why people are mad about the reformulated bottle. Apparently this was warmer and more vanilla scented before and I would have loved to smell that because I already like it so much. I got the edp. Not sure how different it is from the edt but I like the scent rn as is. I feel like I could wear this anytime especially for summer/fall nights . I probably missed out on something so wonderful before they changed it but oh well, its still very beautiful :,) Also.. this is a really great cuddle fragrance! This is a repurchase! The thing about it is that its light enough to wear all the time without giving me a headache. I own a lot of fragrances and as much as I love them a lot of them give me a headache. If it was stronger I probably would like it more BUT it probably would give me a slight headache, because its so light I can enjoy it all the time without the fear of a migraine! No matter how much I love a perfume, if its too strong I cant wear it all the time. This is a good in between. Someone below described this as ethereal... spot on!

Tried this out today because I'm a sucker for anything to do with Falling In Love! Plus Valentine's Day is in two days. It smelled very "clean" and "feminine" and "fun" at first, but the candylike onset went slightly tart/musky. Now I think I'm feeling much like a berry blast cool-aid drink, maybe with a tad of white jasmine and "white musk" aka non offensive synthesized musk. What started off fun and pritti has now morphed into something so unoffensive and sugary like a drugstore candy-scented candle from the 1970's (think Village pear and rose soaps and lotions with a solid blast of musk lotion or vanilla soap from the person next to you using those testers). No lasting power except to annoy/itch your throat/induce a headache, I would actually not bother unless you HAVE to have a very precise scent and this is it. I love reading reviews saying this or that fragrance is a masterpiece when I DON'T agree, and I see a justification that makes me believe maybe I misjudged it. I don't really think anyone will say that Philosophy Falling In Love is a masterpiece by any means.

I blind bought this scent after seeing the box at TJ Maxx. I usually love Philosophy scents, so I bought without ever looking at the notes, and I'm so glad I did. If you like a sweet berry scent, this one is for you. Falling In Love captures the sweetness and flavor of the scent of blackberries, while leaving out a lot of the tartness. They do this by pairing it with a creamy, almost lactonic vanilla, that is incredibly sweet. The florals come along and help to cut the sweetness, and in combination with the musk, make this scent a sort of second-skin scent. It is divine when worn by itself, but the lasting power and silage are not great. It sits close to the skin and is intimate, I tend to prefer scents that stick out a bit more. It lasts 2-3 hours on me if I overspray, so I usually pair this one with a blackberry sage essential oil to help make it last longer. It helps a bit, but is still not great.

I think this is a really nice and light berry scent with musk. It reminds me of a body spray I had when I was a teenager (Bodycology Blackberry Vanilla.) It’s a very youthful scent, so keep that in mind, but if you’re a fan of blackberry, this might be for you. It’s sweet and sparkling, with an undertone of clean florals and a soft musk which adds a touch of coziness, but the blackberry is front and center. Definitely don’t buy this expecting a lot of projection and lasting power. But if you’re someone that is sensitive to perfume, or you like something subtle and sweet, this is a really nice fragrance for the price. It’s perfect for any weather but makes me think of late summer/early fall, maybe because that is blackberry season! Edit: The longevity is better than I remember. I wore this one again and although the scent is light, I could smell it all day.

Generally speaking, I like stronger fragrances that last well throughout the day. Falling In Love is not one that is super strong or long-lasting, but I still love it! There is something very sweet and elegant about it's 'cleanness' and simplicity. The greatest thing about it, is that you can literally spray this on right before you leave the house or meet up with someone and you don't need to let it air out or 'breathe' for awhile. It's very light and has no over-powering quality, so it pretty much goes on just the way it stays. Very simple - Vanilla, Blackberries and Musk. It is touted as being a super romantic fragrance and it does work well for dates, etc. But it's not strongly sensual, but lovely and soft. Not a lot of silage, it's a scent you have to get close to before you really smell it. I re-apply every few hours on days that I wear it.

I adore this sweet little concoction, and I've been wearing it for over 10 years. I rarely wear sugary fragrances, and when I first purchased this, I bought it because it seemed unusual! Falling In Love smells like burnt sugar and sweet berries, and I love it mostly because it's special to my kids. When my boys were little (they're now 17 and 12) they always asked me to wear this "for them". It's a cozy, happy, fresh, extremely pretty scent that I've worn recently for my 3 year old daughter. I can wear this anytime, anywhere, and thoroughly enjoy it. It's one of my bedtime favorites, for inducing peaceful dreams. I always buy the edp version, because it has more vanilla and berries. The edt develops a strange, watery melon note on my skin, and I don't like melon. The edp is all warmth and creme brulee.

I remember first sniffing this years ago after picking up a mini version in the checkout line at Sephora and thinking, "This smells like everything that's good and right in the world." I have to echo previous reviews that say it smells strongly of blackberries and cotton candy, but it's very soft. It's not syrupy, cloying or artificial, it's airy and light. When I smell it I smell a beautiful childhood and young romance. This isn't a childish or immature aroma, but maybe you could call it girlish. I'm transported back to my childhood in a wonderful way when I spray it. The only caveat is that since Philosophy was bought out the new spray is very weak and the longevity is poor. Hunt down the old eau de parfum online to get around this problem and save the new version for touch up spritzes or travel.

Love the smell of the firming lotion because of the extra dose of vanilla. It's a pick me up in the morning after showering. When I first bought the lotion the scent seemed odd - but it grew on me quickly and I had to own the perfume. The EDT is muskier with a little more citrus. It's a dupe for Trish McEvoy's No.9. I have both and find No.9 to be my favourite of the two due to the vanilla in the dry down - but FIL is half the price. This scent is so fresh. I always enjoy wearing it. Light and lovely. I find FIL, Unconditional Love, and Trish McEvoy's No.9 to be perfect for work and running errands. I just wish all of them had more sillage and longevity. FIL and UL disappear within half an hour. No.9 stays much longer if you're generous with application. Spraying on clothes helps for all three.

This is a very close dupe for any who miss Victoria's Secret Pink Fruity and Bright, a scent I wore a lot in the late 00's. I had the whole line of it in it's iconic rectangular and blocky hot pink packaging. It was pretty popular in my area, so I was baffled why VS kept other Pink scents and discontinued a popular sweet tart scent. Luckily, the scent lives on in Falling in Love. Sweet, sugary blackberries splashed with vanilla cream. Like most Philosophy scents, I'm sure the longevity could be extended by using matching shower gel and body lotion, but I do wish the perfume on it's own lasted longer. It stays close to the skin and then it's gone within a few hours. Usually this would turn me away from buying a scent, but this smells so delicious I keep coming back to it.

The smell of the turn of the 21st century. Falling in Love was my "office scent." Close to the skin - but radiates enough that I can smell it without pressing my nose to my arm - and smelled good to me without offending anyone else. If they could smell me, they were too close. The current formulation (picked up from Marshall's in 2023) smells exactly like my memories - a sweet, fluffy blackberry candy vanilla musk. I find that the current version lasts a good 3-6 hours on my skin. Back in the day - I would get a full day's wear. I suspect that change is more of a result of my age and drier skin vs. any "weakening" of the scent. I used to have skin that would hang on to scents until I scrubbed them off - so YMMV.

One of my all time favorite scents from Philosophy. Simple notes yield perfect results at least with my body chemistry. I use the perfumed scrub in the shower, follow up the lotion and finish the perfume. My stepmom has all of the Philosophys in dupe fragrance oils and real perfume form... I take advantage every time I go see her ♥. The notes that stick out the most to me are blackberry and Lily of the Valley (this one being my absolute favorite note of all time).. I see a lot of ppl say the longevity is ehh. One trick that works every time is spraying perfume on my outfit and my outerwear (if it's spring or fall). Makes a world of a difference. Definitely leaves a scent trail. Just heavenly! 😍...

I found the 4 oz. bottle in the clearance section of Winners for $25. For that amount of product, and knowing how much it would cost me at a Sephora, I'd thought I'd give it a try. If I didn't like it, I'm sure I could have found someone in my friend/family-circle that could give it a home. I was pleasantly surprised! Right off, heavy on the blackberry, VERY fruity. I generally avoid fruity/gourmand scents but my nose likes this one. It's longevity could be better. If I'm looking for a light, summer-appropriate scent to throw on for a quick errand, this is the one I grab. The Falling In Love Summer version is similar (and my preference between the two), more musky, and way less fruity.

This is one of the only scents that my body chemistry doesn't outright reject. Other white/fruity florals go sour on me! It opens sweet and floral, then a couple hours later the blackberry surfaces in a vanilla confection. It isn't so sweet as to be teenage girl, but more college age young sweet sophisticate bookish kind of girl. My mother loves opium and those musky scents, but strangely fell for Falling in love... It works with both our chemistries, but alas, it is not my signature scent. I was looking for a more bold zest to it, but it is a tried and true lovely scent that will always be on my shelf. Oh, and I have yet to meet a man who doesn't do an about face when he sniffs this!

I loved this years ago and rediscovered it a year ago. I cannot stay away! I love the sweetness of the berries. I mix a tiny bit of Demeter's Amber scent to add a tiny bit more warmth and make my perfect signature scent. I cannot resist smelling myself when I'm wearing this. I am "in love" with it! Never will be without this one. Have a backup of this and will never be without it. My LOVE. Edit at a much later date: either the formula has changed or my nose just doesn’t detect it any longer. It can barely smell the newest bottle I purchased. So sad! Why?

I have a huge bottle of this, must be almost four ounces. My bottle is older, so I don't seem to be having the recently complained about longevity issues. Having said that, I don't think Philosophy perfumes have great longevity in general, so take that with a grain of salt. This is sweet, and to me somewhat smells like a carnival where they are spinning cotton candy. I have another perfume that is super similar: Victoria's Secret Pink Sweet & Flirty. I like them both for when I want something sweet and fun.

this was a sleeper hit I found at TJ Maxx one day and forgot about on my perfume shelf for months. once I finally wore this, I was SHOCKED with the sillage and lasting power. it is no beast mode fragrance, but for such a light, sweet (SUPER SUPER sweet- think pixi stix dust sweet) fragrance it lasts and projects a decent amount! I can see how some may see it as juvenile-leaning as it is a very sugary candy scent. I love it though and wear it often! it makes me feel soft and girly :)

I was in tj maxx for a couple of hours debating if I should get this perfume. Some of the reviews left me hesitant. I purchased it and opened it in my car immediately. I couldn't smell anything! I was crushed. After I got home and came back to it, I fell in love. It's such a sweet sugary berry scent that's light and fluffy. I wish it only lasted longer. The silage is great especially if you don't want to immediately stand out, but the longevity is a shame. Still love it though!

This a very simple fragrance, and I love it. To me, once it dries down, it smells like blackberries in water. It's very simple, very soft, very feminine. Smells like the happiest, most genuine girl you'll ever meet. It's clean and fresh. I'm not a fan of florals or bright perfumes, but this one just satisfies an itch for me. It's so beautiful, and I have great memories of this perfume. Honestly, this perfume just makes me so happy when I put it on. I'll always repurchase it.

I LOVE this perfume. Picked up a small one at Marshalls... went back for the full size... then got another full size. I don’t love vanilla in perfume but don’t pick it up in this at all (this is an EDT produced in January 2022). Honestly, the notes in this are almost indecipherable (which I prefer because then I don’t hyperfixate on it). I get the cotton candy sweetness but to me it’s really a fresh and sweet perfume that’s easy to wear and works year round, night and day.

very very nice scent and my kind of scent! i love these “skin” smelling perfumes because they just make me feel so clean and cozy regardless of the weather! “falling in love” has more of a musky fruity scent, i can’t really smell the vanilla on me but that’s perfectly fine because i do like fruitier things. if you like personal scents that you can only smell then this is definitely for you! it’s a very calming fragrance and for me it’s a 10/10

It smells sooooo good! This is a romantic fragrance. Light and sexy as the blackberry & vanilla scent gently envelopes your body. Men absolutely adore it. If you are looking for a strong staying power fragrance....this isn't it! You must layer the shower gel, lotion and fragrance for it to stay and then I still find myself spritzing throughout the day but oh, how I am addicted to the entire Philosophy line.

I love the initial blackberry scent that comes through. It has a very youthful essence and would be a great first perfume for a young girl. It has my heart because it reminds me of those strawberry shortcake scented dolls I used to play with in a fruity gourmand kind of way. After sampling this I went right back in to buy it. It‘s a great escapism scent that brings me back to those innocent years.

Picked this up from TJmaxx on a humbug, and this is such a fun, cute, and flirty fragrance! This is a pretty girl perfume for pretty little things 🥰 Easy, easy springtime and summertime reach. I can’t wait to wear this with my floral dresses when the weather gets warmer. I don’t see how this could ever offend anyone. Smells like a fruity blackberry whipped cream parfait. I love it!

I really enjoy this one! I can definetly smell blackberry. Not so much flowers, just blackberry and I love it! It doesn't remind me Philosophy Unconditional Love. I have both of them, plus 4oz backup bottles of each. In fact I spray Unconditional Love on my shirt, and Falling in Love on my wrist. Totaly different to my untrained nose. Love both of them.

My mom wore this when I was a kid, and I think this might be one of the first perfumes I have ever bought. I need to repurchase or find a longer lasting dupe because it is so beautiful, graceful, and soft for a berry scent. So many good memories tied to this, including when I got my body spray version stolen from me by TSA

While I ADORE this scent, the projection and lasting power are terrible, even though I have the EDP. Because of this, I have to treat it more like a body spray and keep re-applying. The smell is lovely, elegant and sweet, and completely non-offensive. I don't see how anyone could not like this.

This is my bedtime scent! It opens with a sweet, juicy blackberry, and the dry down is a deliciously fluffy clean vanilla. It's warm and comforting and sweet and feels like a hug from an old friend. It only lasts maybe 2 hours and is a very intimate scent, hence why I wear it to bed.

some people love it, some people dont. I dont know what it is. It dose smell sweet but I can say, I own a lot of perfumes,over the years. For some reason this grew on me I love it. One thing I wished that it had was the staying power. Looking forward to trying pure grace!!

Nice for the price! I purchased a 4 oz bottle at TJ Maxx for $16. I don’t have anything negative to say about it. Seems very pleasant for winter and spring. It’s a scent for a young lady maybe early twenties, I but I will try it with Miss Dior to see if I can amp it up.

found this gem at tjmaxx for $15! I'm a philosophy lover so I obviously picked it up and WOW! it's so nice. I'm not a clean girl purist, as I prefer something soapy and floral-sweet to pure cucumber water, and this fits the bill perfectly.

This is just so amazing smelling on my skin! I smell juicy blackberries that are just slightly tart and sweet. Blackberries warmed in the sun. The vine and a hint of musk. It's delicious! As a bonus the EDT lasts all day!!!

I’m sensitive to most fragrances, they tend to give me a headache. This scent is light and sweet, it smells great and doesn’t bother me at all. If you don’t like strong scents I think you would enjoy this perfume.

Not a safe blind buy because it's quite fruity and sweet. I can visualise some people disliking it thinking the "overpowered" sweetness is too artificial but this is a yes for me 💋💋💋 uniquely beautiful and cute.

Love this! Very refreshing. I have both an older bottle and a new one. Same scent but lighter which is fine. This is a gorgeous scent that can be worn day or night, summer or winter. It's just plain nice.

This is my all-time favorite fragrance and I am obsessed with it. Unfortunately, it does not last long at all and an hour after spraying it, I cannot smell it unless I put my nose right up to my wrist.

Sweet! This reminds me of spring air, and when the blackberry bushes in my backyard began to fruit, my family would pick the blackberries and make ice cream with them! Perfect mix of sweet and floral

I wear Falling in Love probably more than any other fragrance I own. It is a very soft, inoffensive scent that draws a lot of compliments. A little bit of blackberry mixed with a soft musk....lovely!

Awesome fragrance! One of the few new femme marketed fragrances I like. This is unmistakably BR540 dna at its heart with juicy berry, jasmine/hedione, and vanillin. Decent longevity and projection.

If you like Philosophy Falling In Love or Trish McAvoy #9 Blackberry Musk you will love Montale's Fruits of the Musk! It's similar yet more concentrated!

This would be one of the best imo if it were simply more concentrated. It's a clean musk with berry undertones but it's just too light.

This is stunning. Musky blackberries, not sickly sweet. A twin sister to Trish McAvoy BlackBerry vanilla. ❤❤

Falling In Love was my first Philosophy fragrance purchase ever! Now just so everyone knows that I did not rush to judgement in reviewing this fragrance, I purchased the 0.5 ounce spray in November 2011. I also recommend anyone loving fragrances that feature musk, vanilla, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and blackberry try this fragrance. The only problem this fragrance posed for me is that musk and my body chemistry produce an undesirable scent that smells very close to Off bug spray (not really something I like to smell like). It took a little research to find out what note was producing such an undesirable scent on me, but after researching the fragrance notes of other fragrances I have tried that also smelled funky on me, for lack of a better word, they all have one common note, musk. If anyone out there has a similar problem I would suggest trying Unconditional Love because It features a fruity black currant fragrance and some light floral notes, no musk. I have not tried any of the grace fragrance sprays so I am not currently able to comment on those fragrances yet. I am giving this fragrance 3 out of 5 stars based only on my personal experience with this fragrance and how it smelled on me. Fragrance is so personal and individual to each and every one of us that this review is just sharing my own experience with this fragrance and by no means meant to detour anyone from trying this fragrance. I would just like to add that I did not have any issues with this particular fragrance and it's staying power or being too overpowering. I am one of those people who has allergies and sensitivity to many fragrances, so even though this did not smell the greatest on me, it did not cause me to have any allergic reactions which for me is great! I'm so excited to try the new Love Sweet Love fragrance spray by Philosophy coming soon! This is also my very first review I have posted on this website and I really hope it is helpful to some of you out there. I love reading all of your reviews, thank you for taking time to write them and educating me in the wide world of fragrance!

I remember having a mini version of this in high school. I loved the scent so much! I would love to get my hands on it again. If anyone would like to swap, PM me! EDIT: I got a mini in a swap and it was as amazing as I remember! The musk is there but just barely. It smells like vanilla but not in a gourmand way. There is zero powder which is hard to come by nowadays with vanilla which is a HUGE plus for me. This would be a great perfume for a teenager (instead of a celeb scent) and great for someone in their 20s and 30s. Although it is sweet, it is beautifully blended and not synthetic at all. Definitely the best Philosophy fragrance in my opinion. EDIT #2: This really does smell like Trish Mcevoy blackberry and vanilla musk. I've been debating getting a bigger bottle of this for $30 or going for the trish mcevoy for $100. I decided to go with this one. It really is great.

Soooooo sweet, like the jar of colorful hard candies your grandmother offers to all of her guests. The nice thing about this scent is that it's not overpowering. It becomes quite subdued, and strangely, makes me think that if "falling in love" could smell like something, it would be this. I was having cocktails with people from work. I left my purse with a colleague, and that was a big mistake never to be made again, because when I came back, I found her and another male colleague going through it! They had pulled out my little bottle of Falling in Love and were both absolutely dying over it. They were passing it back and forth, inhaling deeply with their eyes rolling around in their heads! It sure has an effect on people! I wanted to yell at them both, but I was too amused by their "high" from my perfume. They looked like my cats on catnip.

The first sniff is chemical. Alcohol. 70%. Second sniff is the action of putting on a big knit oversized cardigan in a cream color. I won't lie, I go back to it because of the bottle, I took that philosophy PERSONALLY. Anyway, it really does need a few minutes for the actual notes to show through, through the cloud of musk. However, that same musk makes it a comforting scent. On paper I am able to smell blackberries and vanilla and it is SO spring-like! On me, the chemical dry down is still a heavy cardigan, and the fruitiness comes through in a lotion type of way. It is not something I am opposed to, but I feel like an outlier this time.
