Fresh Cream Soft Velvet

I went into this feeling like I’d hate it, but I actually came out on the other side LOVING Soft Velvet. Can we please get a standing ovation for her? She is the only one in the scent family that really showed out and pulled through! The other Fresh Creams really are nothing to write home about, in my opinion. I almost judged Soft Velvet too harshly before even getting the chance to let the beautiful aroma settle in. Within about 2 minutes I was completely sold. Completely in love! This smells almost identical to Love Rose by Myrurgia, the everyday Spanish body care brand. You can find it in any supermarket in Spain and Mexico. If you’ve never smelled it, let me describe it to you... Soft Velvet smells like a rich, warm hug. It smells like you’re hugging your unmarried, stupidly wealthy aunt from your mother’s side! She smells luxurious, clean, powdery, yet very sweet. Never juvenile, never old, but she has that signature “smell” to her. This is exactly what this smells like to me. It smells extremely familiar. It’s warm and sweet. Definitely can be classified in the gourmand category. However, it’s not a warm, vanilla confection. Soft Velvet has a creaminess and cleanliness to it, which definitely softens the gourmand. It makes it smell like a creamy, clean, white floral gourmand. Something that whispers, “I’m sweet :)” without being too sharp, cloying, or juvenile. This also reminds me of a shampoo and conditioner I used to wear when I was a teen. It reminds me of the John Freida brunettes line. It smelled nutty, clean, and chocolatey. This perfume is so luxurious, so clean, inoffensive, and smells better than most upscale fragrances on the market today. If you want to smell like discreet and opulent without wearing the usual stuff that’s on the market, get Soft Velvet. I 1000% co-sign for SOFT VELVET. It’s so good and so forgotten by the general public. I promise you won’t smell like anyone else, yet you’ll be remembered by everyone.

I was waiting for this perfume to finally be up on this site! I absolutely love it. 9/10. It smells like fresh shampoo, a bit flowery yet still holds those sweet elements the OG fresh cream has which is another one of my favorites. This one is definitely more intense, highly feminine, a super pretty daytime or night time scent. It lasted about 5-6 hours on me, which my skin doesn’t hold perfume for very long. I think it’s worth the price! ♡ I don’t particularly get the chocolate note but it’s very sweet and rich.

I tried Fresh Cream Soft Velvet while not expecting much, though I’m a fan of FCWC. And I love it! I picked up the chocolate immediately along with something floral. I also knew there was vanilla there! It’s subtly sweet and cozy with the slightest hint of a soft spice. It lasted 6 hours on my skin and projected well enough. Is this the ideal chocolate perfume I’ve been looking for?! Can’t wait to try it in the fall!!!

It smells so pretty and comforting! It’s a gourmand, but not super sweet or too much like food. It reminds me of gourmet chocolate milk, but elevated. I want this in a candle scent. It lasted all day and had medium projection. It’s non-irritating to sensitive people. This would make an excellent gift for a teen who loves perfume. The price is so reasonable.Very pleased with this fragrance.

Omg this is such a nice clean but comforting warm scent! The Lily and Ginger uplifts the chocolate keeping it away from gourmand but letting it have that smooth sweetness. It reminds me of how my bathroom smells after I’ve used my Shea butter scented soak bar and have lotioned up with cocoa butter or Shea butter lotions.

Adore this perfume, simply delectable without being too sweet. Some may find it cloying but the floral note balance out the vanilla for me. Incredible performance for a philosophy scent. Much better than the warm cashmere in terms of longevity and sillage.

Blind buy. Definitely has the fcwc DNA to it in the dry down. Crowd pleasing floral with hints of chocolate and cashmere. Will definitely be great for fall. I think the longer it sits the stronger it will become and it layers amazingly well with fcwc.

Vanilla forward, with a little bit of cocoa and ginger in the background, very simple, straightforward, and comforting like a warm but breathable alpaca sweater on a crisp day. I can't smell lilies in this, which is fine by me!

Floral chocolatey vanilla without being too heavy or cloying. Nice projection and scent bubble. This fragrance definitely slept on!

This smells like if Good Girl were a fluffy gourmand. Sweet, with a bit of spice from the ginger. I love this as a winter floral!

Smells like a chocolate covered cherry without any gourmand heaviness. I want to live inside this bottle forever

Having tried their Fresh Cream fragrance line previously, I was looking forward to this one. I was able to sample it today. It is surprisingly long lasting, given that it's an eau de toilette. Listed in the ingredients, but not included in the notes, are bergamot and lemon peel oil. This fragrance opens up with a sharp citrus scent, along with ginger. This doesn't give "soft velvet" to me. Perhaps a different type of fruit would have been more appropriate. Lily isn't a standout. It is more akin to a background dancer, with sweet vanilla being the star. There was not enough chocolate in this one. You really have to search for it. I appreciate their approach to gourmand scents. This fragrance could be enjoyed year round, at any time of day. It's not too rich or heavy. Unlike most recent vanilla perfumes, this one isn't garish or nauseating. It also has potential for mass appeal; it's not overly feminine, though not quite unisex. However, I can't see myself purchasing this. I have perfumes in my collection with more decadent notes already. I found the advertising to be misleading, as citrus is nowhere in the copy. I might give it another chance in the future.

I just picked this up and I'm liking it so far. I'm not blown away or anything but it just smells nice, very clean but also cozy and comforting. I was expecting/hoping for something a little different to be honest (slightly less floral, less sharp, more lactonic) but I'm not even mad about it because I do still like it. It smells like a hug from someone who uses fancy soap. This reminds me so much of something else but I can't think of what it is. It's definitely some kind of soap, though. I'm surprised to see so many categorizing it as a gourmand tbh. Even though I can smell the chocolate it doesn't strike me that way for whatever reason. Too soapy I guess. Edit: I don't think I like this that much, like it's not bad but I'm never driven to wear it probably going to return

i really like this perfume! it's very inoffensive to wear and just smells so cozy. my bf says it smells like a soap his aunt used to have when he was younger (in a good way lol) and i 100% get that vibe with it. it's not very strong on its own so it is good for layering, but if you want to leave a scent impression, it doesn't carry very much either. i only have gotten compliments on it right after hugging people. it pulls off being a white floral without being headache inducing, probably from the added sweetness of the vanilla :)

I really love the smell of this for winter! I just wish it lasted longer. Even if I overspray this, the scent is gone within an hour or so. It stays around a bit longer on clothing. I would love to find a way to enhance this to increase its longevity.

I like this perfume primarily for how nostalgic of a smell this is for me. I don’t get a lot of chocolate or vanilla, but more florals! This is a sweet, musky take on Fresh Cream and Warm Cashmere and has kind of a more clean but seductive smell.

I don't get much chocolate in this. That's a bit disappointing, but I still like it. I think it'll be a good bedtime scent. It reminds me of Good Girl Legere.

I'll come back and give a full review after I've worn it a few more times.

This is interesting to me...because nothing about it should end up smelling exactly like a butter from The Body Shop, but it does. Truly, the notes mesh, but also are an odd combo...and it's actually quite cohesive in the sense that the gourmond melts around the white florals so seamlessly. It's very buttery in texture, but it has a freshness of whatever white floral aromachemicals, and it truly smells like a lotion product. It's not bad at all, I do enjoy it, but it's (again, which has been an ongoing lament with me regarding Philosophy) overpriced. Also, the volume on this composition is quite low, and this doesn't project much. Which is par for the course with Philosophy. Most of their fragrances smell like subtle body products, and this is no exception in the slightest.

Okay, so let me start by saying I am a chocolate hater when it comes to perfume. But this is not bad at all! I only rated it okay bc this isn’t something I would wear, but it’s certainly pleasant & I could see why someone would want to wear it. It’s funny, it comes off as a fruity floral to my nose at first sniff even though there’s no fruit listed. It’s like I smell something slightly different every time I go to smell my wrist. The chocolate just adds a nice warm aura to this fragrance but it is mostly a floral vanilla. It smells creamy but not overly so. This would make a nice comforting scent for before bed or the type of scent you wear when you’re having a casual day in sweatpants & a hoodie.

maybe its just because when i sprayed this, i also had on the regular fresh cream lotion (which is an extremely potent scent. also delicious btw), but i dont really get much of any of the said notes from this. its a powerful hit of the lillies, and then nothing. i had to take a deep wiff of my wrist to even smell anything that wasnt floral, and even then it was still pretty weak. not a bad scent since i like floral scents, but definitely did not smell anything related to vanilla or chocolate besides my own lotion.

I got a sample of this today with my Shoppers order and it was not what I was expecting. I love Fresh Cream, Warm Cashmere and expected this to be in the same sort of category. This actually reminds me a lot of Solinotes Tonka, the floral is more prominent than I expected, not crazy strong or anything I just expected it to be more in the background than it was. I can't say I really got the chocolate or vanilla. It's just okay I don't think I'll be getting a full bottle.

I was expecting more lily from the vote and other reviews, but I mostly got a soft vanilla. It smells very similar to the original Philosophy Fresh Cream but with a chocolate twist. It's a simple milk chocolate that doesn't get dusty. It's definitely gourmand but not sugary. I think all generations can enjoy this type of gourmand. On my skin, it lasts about 3 hours and does not project much. It is also similar to the vanilla-chocolate in Clinique Cocoa and Cashmere.

This was a blind buy so I should’ve known better. Was expecting more of a gourmand but I don’t get any chocolate. This smelled so familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it until I did! This smells exactly like the dry down of Donna Born in Roma. Nothing spectacular that you haven’t already smelled in the market

Faint and aquatic white floral, synthetic & faint too.

I wanted to like this so bad... the notes seem right up my alley. Unfortunately, this practically disappears on my skin...I get a *whisper* of lily, and that's it. I was really hoping for the chocolate and vanilla to come through as some point, but they were MIA. I even tried to see if they would come through on paper, or on my clothes--no luck. Wouldn't recommend getting it if you're mainly interested in the vanilla and chocolate notes, go for something else :/

I bought this about 2 or 3 weeks ago and have been having the hardest time figuring out when to wear this. I also was trying to figure out if i liked this or not took a while but i finally wore this yesterday on a dark and gloomy day while it was raining all day and I actually REALLY enjoy this and the longevity is very good compared to fresh cream warm cashmere it lasted about 6 hours in my skin ( didn’t wear a lotion to boost longevity) I noticed I would go nose blind to this but when I would move or walk around I was get really nice wafts of this in the air it definitely has a velvety touch to it. today I decided to pair this with my signature scent yum pistachio && needless to say this will definitely be added into my signature scent I absolutely love this. Solid 10/10 release and I really REALLY hope they don’t discontinue.

Testing on paper: The best way I could describe it is that it smells like something your friend's mom would wear when you were a kid. It's pleasant but unobtrusive, and very super-normal adult woman fragrance in the best way possible. It's neither super young nor super old, and if you're around it, it's a pleasant impression without being overwhelming. Everyone here is right to describe it as a comforting, gentle gourmand. I might save the rest of my sample vial to wear to sleep once it's winter.

This stuff smells like the suave keratin infusion shampoo and conditioner the one in the rosey gold bottle, I know because that’s what I use I have both in these big pump bottles and while I think It smells good, I don’t really want all of me to smell like my hair products. I tested this out in Ulta the other day and thought about getting a mini size as a bedtime scent but idk still on the fence about it.

I like it but it’s not overly creamy. It’s more of a sweet amber with a floral hint. Definitely has that VS or B&BW vibe, so if you like that kind of genre, you’d probably like this. Edit: the more I wear it, the more I’m enjoying it. It has this sort of freshness/cleanness about it that’s unusual in amber or sweet perfumes. I think it’s the philosophy dna peeking through.

This is the best Philosophy fragrance hands down. Smells like Versace Crystal Noir EDT which I also absolutely love. In true Philosophy fashion, the lasting power on this is abysmal. I really do feel like this smells like you buried your nose in a vintage velvet dress from the 1940s. Not to say that this is dusty - it's not. It's just the vibe I get. Wonderful.

Reminds me of Versace crystal noir eau de toilette but less intense. (On paper that is) I’m assuming it’s because of the ginger note. It is a beautiful signature scent worthy perfume. Fresh clean and feminine

This is underrated. There is something about this that would be pleasant for almost every fragrance lover. It’s not a show stopping fragrance and maybe even basic but hey it’s good.

I don't get chocolate in this at all. It's very Lily heavy, which I don't mind at all since I love the smell of lilies. It sort of reminds me of the original Good Girl

No chocolate, just fruity white floral. Not sure where the fruity is coming from. Very slight ginger. It’s not bad tho. For real a Vera Wang.

to my nose it smells like Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber. I haven't tried it on my skin yet though
