Live Joyously

Finally, Fragrantica included this little gem. I've had it for a year now. It starts off with a sharp, almost aldehydic blast, then mellows to alcohol.......then within about 20 seconds, the magic begins. Soft, gentle floral. Peonies, with a rosy scent. I really do not get any orange....I'll have to strike that. I do get a mild peppery scent, however. To me, it smells a bit more oily than powdery, but definitely floral. It gets a little sweeter as it stays on, but not sickly sweet. Sillage is not great, but I can smell it in wafts, on and off. Wears better in my inner arm vs my outer arm where it seems to just disappear. Now the visual: After a big gulp of pink zinfandel, I breath in heavily through my nose, waiting for the warm sensation of the alcohol to settle. Meanwhile, I get up, walk to the French doors, to find a beautiful pink bouquet, all pink, peonies and roses, in a white porcelain vase on a pedestal. No wind is blowing, no extras, and there they are just exuding their fragrance steadily...... then about a half hour later I take a small bite out of a butter cookie. It's a good scent for the summer or spring. UPDATE Spraying this in your hair will last 8 hours plus, It is absolutely gorgeous on a hot summer day. Very feminine, not really that sweet at all. Stays linear, floral, and fresh. I love it.

I bought this perfume from Ulta when it first came out in 2014. What I love about this perfume is the Jasmine even though it is not listed. Peony is listed, but I don't smell the Peony. It is a true Jasmine "Sampaguita" scent. This is a lovely soft feminine scent. This is great to wear at work and weddings for daytime in the spring and summer. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is quite light and weak. Lately, I tried layering this with Nina by Nina Ricci to make it last longer and amplify the scent. This can be worn by someone of all ages who loves Jasmine who particularly loves the Sampaguita flower. This smells just like the delicate flower. Edit 3/01/20 I just purchased a travel size of Elie Saab Le Parfum. It smells identical to Philosophy Live Joyously except Le Parfum is stronger and more long lasting. I am so happy I found Le Parfum so I can layer them together. It is an exact dupe. I am so looking forward to layering them this summer.

So in love with this perfume. The safest perfume I have in my collection. It’s soft, perfect for summer and great for walkings on the beach in the evenings. I don’t know how but I even feel sea salt in this, not at all like in the Olympea from Paco Rabanne which is pure salt, but like the warm feeling from gentle summer breeze you get on the beach, this is exactly the feeling I have when I wear this perfume. I really can’t imagine another more safe perfume than this, nothing gross, nothing that induce headaches or nauseas so is totally safe for those with fragrance sensitivity. So happy I found this, I love this more than some of my niche perfumes.

Opening smells almost exactly like CK Be, but settles into something more floral, like CK One. I’m either going noseblind or the smell is completely gone within a few minutes (on paper). Very nice and pleasant, somewhat of a sunscreen smell. EDIT: the smell lingers for a few hours on skin and the projection is pretty decent as I get whiffs of it throughout the life of the fragrance.

i was pleasantly surprised when i tried this as a sample. i like it.it's pretty and soft and floral and i cant stop sniffing my wrist but thats just it. i cant smell it wafting so i have to keep my nose pressed against my wrist so silage is poor and i have a feeling that longevity isnt far behind. what a shame. so not quite a love but close.

It is true that : It smells exactly like inner philosophy, and will madly remind you of Narciso Rodriguez for her, both EDT/EDP. I know the SJP smells similar to FOR HER, I just never buy celebrity fragrances. It is long lasting, and actually it reminds me of Cabaret by Gres.

This surprised me! Really sophisticated. It's reminiscent of Sublime Balkiss, which I LOVE. I find this has good performance, 5 sprays lasting about 6 hours for me. Update: I recently acquired Inner Grace; IG and LJ are nearly identical upon testing.

Another blind buy for me. This really does smell a lot like SJP Lovely but not really in a bad way. I wish it was more floral-y but it smells pretty good. Lasts an okay amount of time.

Considering that Ulta-ing is a hobby of mine, I'm fully acquainted with the Philosophy line and it's not awful. Sure, I used to get stoned and watch QVC late at night and imagine the housewives in flyover states hoarding vats of Pure Grace lotion (shipped on auto-delivery every 90 days) but I've healed that part of myself and realized the bandwagon ain't bad. I like this scent. I wanted something sexy, something sultry, while still being a safe, boring, basic Mom eau-de-parfum. Like, the PTA president who has a $400 bong in the garage. Does your Chrysler Town n Country smell like Nag Champa? This scent is odd because it's as if Pure Grace got into a time machine and came back from 1977 doused in Clinique Aromatics Elixir before morphing back into a J Crew-wearing mom who keeps joints rolled in her Kate Spade wallet.

This is very light and short-lived; you have to bathe yourself in it to get it to last longer than four hours. Even layering it over a musk won’t help, nor does applying it to your clothes. Honestly, if I didn’t have the bottle, I would have thought it was an EDC. It does have pretty good sillage right after you apply it, and it’s nice and light- a good casual scent for warmer weather. It doesn’t perform anything like either NRFH EDP (the patchouli is too light) or NRFH EDT ( the beginning isn’t as tart) on my skin, so this would be a great scent for someone who’s just trying out scents with patchouli. I like it overall, but I don’t see myself buying it again.

I do see the resemblance to SJP "Lovely" however I feel it smells more reminiscent of "Inner Grace", of which I have and love both. It has more the spiciness, if you will, to Inner Grace IMO

This I have come to conclude, is essentially Inner Grace. They discontinued Inner Grace but really just gave it a new name and look ;) lol

A rather pleasant floral scent, but nothing too outstanding. Also, the fragrance doesn't stay on for long, it disappears rather quickly.

Inner Grace's washed-out cousin. Bought this because of the reviewers' helpful comments about finding an Inner Grace dupe since it has been discontinued. They were right on the money -- this is very similar in scent -- but it has none of the long-lasting qualities of the Inner Grace body emulsion that I used to wear. That scent lasted all day, and it was a lotion! This perfume lasts less than 30 minutes and then you can't even smell it on your skin. Very unfortunate. I will disagree on the Narciso Rodriguez for Her comparison; I have both, but the NR has a pronounced musk that is not present in Live Joyously. The latter is more of a clean scent. Update: Okay, despite the above complaints, I still love this scent! I bought some backups and I'm going to have to just reapply and live with the poor longevity. The scent is so uplifting that it makes me smile in the morning ... can't resist!

Reminds me a lot of Tocca Cleopatra and Tocca Belle - sort of a spicy, serious note at the beginning that reads very sour and bitter to me (the Cleopatra part), then dies down and gives way to a sort of sunscreeny peony bouquet that sits very close to skin (the Belle part). It’s a lovely, soft, clean, true peony that is very easy and inoffensive to wear. Longevity is not great though and the only time I like it is when it’s dried down, so there’s a narrow window of enjoyment that doesn’t make it worth it to me.

This perfume is like an eclipse, truly amazing but gone in minutes. I really like the gentility and femininity of this scent, but I used almost an entire 2ml sample bottle to get it to where I could smell it, and it has utterly disappeared just half an hour later. I asked my BF to smell me and see what he thinks, and he thought I wasn’t wearing perfume. Too bad, because it was initially quite delicate and lovely.

Got a couple samples of this and it just isn't for me. 1st whiff smells like an old Avon perfume that's gone off to me, that fades quickly and then smells very floral with just a touch of spice and powder without being heavy at all and ALMOST like it could turn into something I might enjoy and like something very familiar that I cant place, but then within 15-20min on me it turns intoa very light patchouli powder basically, almost zero floral scent remaining and I never detect any citrus in any stage on me. The strange thing the scent is like something that is usually very strong and overpowering but instead it's super light so I think if you like this kind of scent but they usually are too much for you, trigger a headache or are just want a warmer weather or cleaner version you may love this.

This was quite linear to me, like a slightly-sweet musk and not much else. Every note is blended so well that it's not really detectable: the patchouli isn't super strong or overwhelming, I did not detect any tangerine, and the peony wasn't very clear either. Not a lot of depth - I love musk, but felt like this didn't have anything super special going on. Probably best used for layering. P.S. I hunted this down because another reviewer said this was a "soapy citrus" - I LOVE soapy + citrus, but it was neither of those for me at all, unfortunately!

I love that these come in 15 mL bottles. Perfect for collectors, or travel. Indeed, I enjoyed carrying Live Joyously on trips, because I knew it would never offend whoever I was with (like my family.) Of course, as you all know, this is very similar to Narciso Rodriguez for her (EDT.) Live Joyously is a sweet floral musk. The citrus here doesn't read as specifically tangerine, but my husband walked in the room after I sprayed this on and asked "why does it smell like oranges in here?" so I guess it does smell like oranges, at least to someone else. To me, it's mainly sweet, slightly powdery peony (almost like sweet pea) and musk. Live Joyously does the same beautiful thing that all the other scents like this do (Lovely, Cleopatra, etc.) it warms and unfurls on your skin as you wear it. It's pure magic. Compared to the other similar fragrances, this is less thin than Lovely - it has more body. Lovely is also distinctly a herbal lavender perfume, whereas this is a sweet floral all the way, later a sweet patchouli, perhaps. This is sweeter and weightier than Lovely, but has less body and nuance than the Narciso, even compared to the EDT (not comparing to the EDP, that one is too voluptuous for me.) I solidly like it. This is my favorite Philosophy perfume. I even love it sometimes, an hour in when I sniff the crook of my elbow - it makes me want to only wear these kinds of musky perfumes for the pure heaven of the drydown.

I don't know what everyone else is talking about. Live Joyously smells like unburned Gonesh patchouli incense circa 1977. The best head shop scent I have ever found. Start to finish, just head shop patchouli incense, no dry down, no orange, no peony, no girlie stuff. What a shock that philosophy would release something that actually SMELLS GOOD and has CHARACTER. Usually, their stuff is watery, chemical-fresh, bland, and apologetic. I am not a philosophy fan. But this is good! It does remind me of Lovely, but I like this more because it's a little sharper. The bottle gives a correct impression of the scent. A tie-dyed box would help, too. Or the cover art from "The Best of the Grateful Dead 1967-1977" with the skeleton wearing a crown of red roses. Not sure where I could wear this...it's not too loud, but if I wore it to work I would probably be drug tested (amazing since I don't even drink coffee). Live Joyously = Dead Head perfume. What a long strange trip it's been....

Live Joyously is a soapy citrus with a slightly spicy base. It is linear and lasts 4-6 hours on me, which is more than I expected. The sillage is moderately poor. On its own it is nothing special, but I enjoy layering it with more musky scents as we transition into autumn, or more fruity scents to transition from spring to summer. In the summer I do like wearing it alone but because of how hot it gets here and how much I'm sweating, the lasting power is reduced to only 2-3 hours, which is why I don't recommend it by itself unless you don't care about the wear time. If you wear fragrance to the gym it would be great for that. I know not everyone is a fan of layering, but if you already own this scent and you aren't too fond of it, try using it layered and you may be able to get some enjoyment out of it.

A sweet, powdery, floral fragrance, with subtle balsamic and grassy undertones. I usually find patchouli a bit sharp—like dry, dirty grass—but here the grassiness is clean, sweet, and mild. There's a coziness to Live Joyously that's warm but very light; like curling up on a porch-swing on a calm summer morning, with your bare legs tucked under a cashmere throw-blanket. It's subtle, feminine, and placid. It reminds me of Chancel Chance EDP , albeit more vague and short-lived.

Patchouli bomb on me but ephemeral. Definitely understand comparison to SJP Lovely. Philosophy and SJP are both produced by Coty so probably the same patchouli supplier. If you can only chose one - go for SJP - it’s more layered, longer lasting, and cheaper. That said, I really like philosophy fragrances including Live Joyously. They make me happy! Live Joyously is full on patchouli which I like but it is not long lasting.

The reviews for this are really inconsistent. The reason I am about to blind buy this is because of the peony. I LOVE peony. Secondly, I just discovered Philosophy and after trying all that is available at QVC right now I settled on Pure Grace. I am hopeful that this smells like PG but with Peony notes. No idea what inner grace smelled like but if this has the SJP Lovely vibe, I am in.

On my skin, this is a patchouli explosion and I LOVE it. The scent is dirty, sexy, and clean all at once. It reminds me of a head shop on Haight St..I will wear this! Live Joyously also lasts eternally on my skin and clothing. I think if you like scents like Lush - Karma you would definitely enjoy this.

If you love peony, don't buy this. It is gross. Its like if Narcisso R. for Her had a few drops of Prada Amber accidentally added to it. If you do like peony and that's why you went for this one(like my co-worker did), then buy Gucci Envy Me, you'll be much more pleased.

This is Inner Grace on Steroids! I'm so happy that I tried it! Philosophy you listening? Don't be F- kers and stop selling this! You'll lost me when you'll decided to stop selling Inner Grace. Redeem yourselves! LOL!

All I could smell on my wrist was cotton candy and baby dolls. Smells like super sweet florals, like little girl perfume, a huge sugar bomb. Not working for me.

this is like if cleopatra by tocca was crappier. i don't know what it is that makes it super cloying and headache inducing? it just doesn't have enough depth.

This could very easily be a dupe for Narciso Rodriguez EDT and its dupe, SJP Lovely.

Am I the only one who smells iris in this perfume???
