Unconditional Love

This invigorating fragrance has a lot more going for it than "black currant and flowers." I've always thought Unconditional Love is an overlooked gem among the multitude of Philosophy scents. Unconditional Love begins as a refreshing blast of fruitiness, with an initial burst of something juicy and quite citrus, like a note of sweet-smelling grapefruit. Next you are wrapped in a delicious cloud of blackberry/raspberry essences. It is what I think it would be like to stand under a fruit-scented waterfall on a hot day. As time passes, a rich darker berry rises in the background, which is the black currant. The closest I get to smelling "flowers" is a cheerful whiff of peony. Peony has always seemed to me to be a fruity sort of floral scent. Here it is pink and juicy and bright, and is a nice balance to the berries. Despite all the fruit notes, Unconditional Love is not overly sweet. It is sweet, but is a crisp and refreshing sweet. It's so lovely applied when you are fresh out of the shower, or as a pick me up on a hot, sticky day. It's like being immersed in a delicious, refreshing fruit drink with lots of shaved ice. In fact, if they sold a beverage that tasted the way Unconditional Love smells, I would absolutely buy some. In my personal opinion, I wouldn't bother with Unconditional Love unless you can get ahold of the eau de parfum version. In this way, Unconditional Love is just like another Philosophy fragrance I love, but has absolutely no staying power on me- Falling in Love. You have got to get the eau de parfum, or you are looking at zero sillage. You apply it, and half an hour later, it's barely there. I started out with Unconditional Love EDT, but loved the scent so much that I tracked down the EDP. I found it on Mercari, and it's available on eBay and other places too I imagine. If you like Unconditional Love EDT, but are unhappy with the performance, the EDP will surprise you with its staying power. You aren't going to get massive sillage with the eau de parfum either, but Unconditional Love EDP stays strong for a good four to five hours and is quite present before drying down into a skin scent. And that's pretty good, in my experience, for a Philosophy fragrance. The more the minutes go by, the more Unconditional Love reminds me of a creamy, delicious fruit dessert. If black currants and blackberries were made into a key lime pie-like dessert and topped off with vanilla whipped cream, that would be Unconditional Love on the dry-down. The black currant gets a little more tart toward the end but never veers into sour territory. I've worn Trish McAvoy 9, as I love blackberry fragrances. I think Unconditional Love presents dark berries in a much stronger and longer lasting way than 9. Unconditional Love would be a good choice as a first fragrance for a budding perfumista, as it is sweet and relatable, but has its own subtle complexity without being overpowering. Unconditional Love is the perfect Spring/Summer fragrance. It recalls fruit trees in bud, picnic tables laden with delicious fruit, and icy fruity drinks outside on a warm evening. If you are looking for something refreshing and fruity but not super sweet, I would definitely give Unconditional Love a try.

I am one lucky lady, first I am lucky enough to have unconditional love in my life and second my unconditional love gave me a wonderful Unconditional Love fragrance layering collection as one of my Christmas gifts that included the 2 ounce spray fragrance! The 2 ounce spray fragrance is just wonderful! including the notes of black currant berries with light florals and maybe a touch of vanilla mixed in, it's just sweet, warm, and fresh all at once. I love that even though the spray fragrance does have lasting power you can still refresh your fragrance throughout the day without making people around you wanting to run the other way or having a sneeze attack. I am sensitive to fragrance and have allergies, so this is a big plus for me! Infact, I've recently been spraying myself with Unconditional Love before I get into bed. For me, it is not only a lovely fragrance during the day, it also evokes a sence of calm and happiness when heading off to dream land. It's like aromatherapy for me! I love this fragrance and this being only my second Philosophy fragrance I've tried, I am so very satisfied I would give it 5 out of 5 stars! Falling In Love was the first Philosophy fragrance I tried. Unfortunately for me, the musk in Falling In Love reacts negatively with my personal body chemistry. Since fragrance is personal to everyone, I would suggest giving this fragrance a try and see if it tugs at your heart strings as it did mine. May you all give and receive unconditional love...

yes, Unconditional Love smells A LOT like 'Falling in Love'...I would say that Unconditional Love is like a flanker to FIL. There are a few differences though....FIL opens with BERRY and has a lot of sheer musk to it whereas UL opens very 'lemony' and develops into a sweet (but not not TOO sweet) Black Currant. I love both of them, and the subtle difference is enough for me that on days when I wish to have more of a 'musk' I will wear FIL and when I feel more that I wish to smell like dark berries I will wear UL. My older sister is not overly fond of musk so I would recommend this one to her over FIL. For me the main difference is the lasting impression...FIL is more focused on the musk with a 'kiss' of berry and UL is more focused on berry with a 'kiss' of floral. Lasting power is great on me for both, but is definitely helped by spritzing it on your clothes as well.

I have to buy my second bottle. It is a simple sweet happy fragrance on me. It is my every day scent. Most perfumes give me a headache and asthma attacks, yet this one never does! It simply makes me smile and when on the skin, it smooths out and becomes warm, soft and happy. It is very similar to Trish McEvoy 9, which is a bit more musky and complex, which isn't ideal for me. Additionally, on my skin the 9 does not last and fades within an hour, but the Unconditional Love lasts for hours longer. I've been wearing the Trish for a week, and am going to order UL because the Trish just doesn't do it for me. For layering, the body lotion smells more chemically and not as sweet. The fancier emulsion lotion does smell more like the actual cologne. FWIW, Undconditional Love smells nothing at all like Falling in Love to my nose. FIL is a much more laundry/fresh scent.

This perfume is so beautiful to me. It’s such a familiar and lovely scent. You can spray this as if it is a body spray and never get a headache. I feel as though it isn’t long lasting, but if I spray it on a shirt and smell the shirt the next day it is still on there strong. So I think it is just a scent you get used to. Every time I spray this it feels like a hug. It is euphoric and intoxicating to my nose. I have gotten many compliments on it, especially from men. Please never change or stop making this!

I was walking at Macy's when an associate let me sniff this and that one sniff got me hooked. I tried it on and after that, I couldn't get it out of my head. I had to get it and eventually got the layering set. I was newly married and felt the scent embodied its name exactly! I love it! It's very comfortable, sweet (but not in the cough syrup sort of way) and just envelopes me with joyful contentment. Unconditional love indeed.

I love this one. And I do not believe this note are correct. To me smells like lemony powdered sugared something. I so enjoy it. It doesn't remind me Philosophy Falling in Love. I have both of them, plus 4oz backup bottles of each. In fact I spray Unconditional Love on my shirt, and Falling in Love on my wrist. Totaly different to my untrained nose. Love both of them.

I really like this! It smells like a light sweet airy fruity candy. It is like a fruit cotton candy that is perfect to use when you just want to smell good anytime anywhere. I like using this during netflix time and snuggling with my partner. It smells comforting and the berry scents makes me feel warm and cozy. Love this!

I sprayed this on me, and when my boyfriend entered the room he said, "it smells like a candy necklace in here". It's sweet, tart, and simple. I do not find it heavy at all. I love it! It does not last long, but I wasn't expecting that. It's a nice casual fragrance for everyday wear or to the store.

I usually never go for berry scents, let me tell you this is so fresh, clean and sweet, i love it for this winter season. I hope i don't have any problem finding a back up bottle because i will be SAD if i run out of this..

I love this fun black raspberry candy, floral scent. I don't get black current at all. It's nice for days or lounging around in this sweet little scent. ❤️

Sugar plum fairy scent in a bottle. I immediately picture holiday berries frosted with snow when I smell this perfume. This perfume smells like a rich wild berry lotion to me. If you’re looking for a clean, just out of the shower scent with lotion on, then this is for you. I see this as a winter perfume because it’s more of a rich frosted berry, which makes sense because of the vanilla and cashmere notes. Some people say it smells like lemon, but to me I only smell the tartness from the raspberry note. It’s a very nostalgic scent because I get a lot of early 2000s lotion vibes from this. This scent does last all day on my clothes, but not so much my skin. It’s a nice everyday scent that’s perfect if you’re looking for a wintery berry scent.

I wish this smelled more like the UL firming lotion. I love the scent of the lotion. Can't get enough of it. I like the EDT but on my skin it's more citrus than berry, while still sweet. I like wearing it on hot days or around the house. I find it to be a cheerful scent - it always lifts my mood. Longevity is poor, unfortunately. You have to spray a lot of this scent for it to stay put. I find that to be the case with Philosophy. There's a lightness to it though that's inoffensive. Not attention getting but comforting. An enjoyable wear. Edit: I'm loving this scent more and more in the summer months. Makes me feel and smell delicious. It gets me compliments when I pair it with the firming lotion. One of my favourites now.

I have this perfume and do like it, although I agree with other reviewers - it doesn't last very long. Perhaps an hour or two? Starts off very sweet, but does end up with a nice warmth. Has a bit more depth than "Falling in Love" which is by far the sweetest of the Philosophy perfumes. "Amazing Grace" is still one of my favorites and that one does last all day on me, so I'm not sure why Unconditional Love doesn't quite have the same staying power.

Sweet & adorable. I'm getting a lot more from this than what's listed... if it only had "black currant" +flowers it would be at least somewhat sour... instead, I get a kind of a sweet gourmand fragrance... definitely something cake-like about this. I like it. The major flaw is the lasting power... on me, it seemed to only last for a few minutes. :(

My mom has it. Its very very sweet. Probably the sweetest scent from Philosophy. Its like citrus, berries & vanilla! Its very delicious & refreshing!! My favorite from Philosophy!! I cant remember what Falling In Love smells like so I cant say if theyre similar. Sorry.

This reminded me very much of Philosophy's Falling in Love. There is something very similar about these two scents. This one is not as nice IMO. But if you wear Falling in Love all the time and you need a change once in a while, unconditional love is a good variation.

In love with the blackcurrant! I will say that although not listed, I can definitely pick up a lemony note to it as well. I have the EDP, so for me, the longevity was fairly average.

Smells like cotton candy and lily of the valley to me. It is sweet, to be sure, but there's enough floral notes to keep it from being a pure sugar fragrance.

I'm surprised by all of the reviews saying UL smells sweet. I detect nothing sweet and the notes above don't mention sweet. To me it smells of berries and vanilla but for me, not in a good way. A definite B&BW scent and one dimensional. A berry scent that I love would be midnight fantasy. What a difference.

Unconditional Love smells like cotton candy when sprayed,but on the skin this is rancid! I don't think I've ever returned an online purchase as quickly as did with this. It arrived via UPS @ 5:30,5:50 I was standing in line @ Sephora exchanging it for something else!

Yes I get the pink lemonade & fairy dust sweetness I really wanted this to work for me but yikes there a puke smell in the opening I cant!! Once it dries down tht goes away but so does the sillage not long lasting at all comparable to a body spray

i will never EVER buy a scent just judging by reviews of others. to me it just smells of plain RIBENA! sweet jesus - i got full 50 ml of it - maybe i should just drink it?

Theres not many perfumes I hate but this is one of them. It just smells like blackcurrant Beechams or Lempsip Cold and Flu drink in my opinion.

I agree with those who say: too sweet with a strange twist on the skin.

For those in search of sweet laundry scents—you must be out there somewhere, else houses would cease producing and marketers promoting them—Philosophy UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is a much better choice than FALLING IN LOVE, as it opens and remains a sweet laundry scent. I find this composition much more likeable, although I do think that its name is a bit of an exaggeration. My own concept of unconditional love probably was decisively molded by my father—a civil engineer—who was famous in our family when I was growing up for spouting a variety of aphorisms such as “You could be replaced by a machine.” Many of these pronouncements appear to have been meant facetiously, but one of them bears directly on the topic at hand: “I may not always like you, but I'll always love you.” This is a clear expression of unconditional love: no matter what you do, I will still love you. Very similar, it seems to me, to the relation which must obtain between the persons I see out walking their dogs on frosty quasi-Antarctic nights in the darkest depths of winter in Boston. There they are, dutifully bending down to scoop up the poop of their beloved pooch without complaining or any indication that such a task is beneath them—though of course it is, down on the ground at the level of their feet! Yes, they could be at home snuggled under down comforters, but, no, these pet owners are out picking up steaming turds off glacial sidewalks. It's really a sight to behold and a clear sign to me that the only possible relation which could obtain between the owners and their dogs is unconditional love. But I digress. Although I do like a good citrus scent now and then, I'm not much for the fruity-floral genre, including the subcategory of berry perfumes, but UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is a perfectly wearable one and definitely more likeable and sturdy than FALLING IN LOVE, which perhaps appropriately somewhat falls apart. I would say that UNCONDITIONAL LOVE compares favorably to the Trish McEvoy blackberry fragrances and also Victoria's Secret VELVET AMBER BLACKBERRY. Yes, there are now a number of decent berry perfumes available, so there's no need to settle for anything but the best, for what they are. Different wearers will appreciate different features of these various fruity scents, but in the end I think that it's fair to say that berry lovers have cause to rejoice.

Great berry top note, and I get no farther. I can't get a philosophy scent to last more than one hour on me. I love their bath gels and skin care, but forget their fragrance EDTs. For the cost you are better off saving money and buying a Lolita Lempicka or a Jessica Simpson, Crabtree and Evelyn or even a Bath and Body Works. Seriously, scents stay true with my chemistry and last. I have never had this happen with any other fragrance line. So spray and go shopping, check in 10, 30 and 60 minutes. I read reviews that Ed Hardy scents disappear quickly. I can get Love and Luck and Born Wild to last at least 6 hours with a couple of good sprays. I am glad I got this and the small body butter as a gift with skincare purchase. I used them together and still no "stick", too bad, because this and Amazing Grace smell nice and Pure Grace for powder fans. Buy the bath gel and just enjoy the shower experience. Anyone else have a challenge with staying power? Sigh, probably just me, so sad, because I love it.

This was given to me by my boss. She knows I like fruity scents, and anything berry. Unfortunately... testing it now... not only does it make me feel sick to smell it, my CAT has just started to sneeze all over the place. :( And I only spritzed it once - 1 spray. I have developed a sensitivity to fragrances, I used to sell them. But somehow I don't think this is just me with this one. If you have fragrance sensitivities or alergies, I would test this outside FIRST! Headache and nausia. I just had to open both my windows and put a fan in one to air it out... and we are approaching FEBRUARY. :( It is going to get cold in here! lol. Will think twice before trying this one again. I think it might be destined for a give away or the trash. There is no way I can spray this again. :( Sorry Philosophy! Maybe it's a chemical in here? It's too bad it makes me feel so aweful and sick to breathe it. Hope this helps!

I'm on the fence about this one. I want to love it, something is just missing. All I get is berries, berries and more berries. Which is nice, it just reminds me a lot of something from B&BW or something a teen would wear, but it does have a nostalgic quality to it, to me, because it reminds me of my teen years. I'm waiting on the dry down to see what else I get but I've been wearing it for an hour or two now and don't see myself picking up anything else but berries. It's nice and mild, like pretty much all Philosophy fragrances. It's longevity is pretty good thus far. I'm just a little disappointed by this one.

This one is like Falling In Love...with an extra zest. Occasionally, I'll use the FIL shower gel and body lotion and then spray Unconditional Love over that. Very nice! They're similar enough to layer beautifully together. Yet different enough to create a whole 'nother attitude, when used separately. I love that about this line. It really can be suited to whatever your mood!

I have worn this every day flackbor over a year. It is blackberry/cotton candy scented to me. Others have posted that the scent does not last long. I can not smell it after an hour or so but people tell me that I smell great through out the day so I am guessing that my nose just gets used to it. My husband and son love the scent on me as well. I LOVE Unconditional Love!!

This is the first fragrance I remember that sparked a memory for me. When I first smelled UL it reminded me of an Elementary school teacher I once had. I vaugely remember her perfume/scent and it smelled something like this. Perhaps this is the reason I fell head over heels with this fragrance at the department store.

If you don't like sweet pick something else. As for me this is my signature scent the last 7 years, prior I wore Falling In Love for 5 years. I honestly that it was stronger or lasted longer, it almost disappears after 3 hours. I only wear other scents for novelty & I wish I had more novelty scents similar to this.

There are a WHOLE lot of other notes in it not listed, like a decent amount of vanilla and some citrus, fewer flowers than this implies. I like it a lot at first spray, but the drydown is slightly scary, not sure what it is, I think the cassis turns on me.

Gag. Way, way, way too sweet for me. Heavy, cloying, sugary candy-sweet. About 10 times the sugar as Falling in Love, and that one is pretty sweet, too, but much nicer, IMHO. Can't figure out why this is called a floral? No flowers smell like this.

I blind bought a body wash, scrub, lotion and perfume set of this scent (sold by HSN) for a steal on Ebay, and there's hardly any smell to it :( It's extremely weak, almost like nothing. I sprayed and sprayed.... Horrible purchase.

Wow, this is sweet! This was a blind by at Ross, for only 24.99, 3.4 oz. I like it...It reminds me of B&BW fragrances. Berry sugary....I wouldn't wear it on a date night, maybe to the gym!

I'm afraid to admit that I actually like this scent on me. Not for every day but it's a nice change. FIL Is still a fav for me but thus one isn't bad either,sweeter and more complex.

Sadly all I am getting is playdough & gardenia so sad and disappointed.

The body butter is strong. Smells very expensive n lasts!
