Golden Rule

I love Phlur, but this is a little disappointing. I can’t think of a single other fragrance in their brand that smells designer, and that’s one of the things I love about them. But this is not only designer, this is common. Imagine my surprise when I sampled this and it smelled just like my scent of the day, which happened to be Libre + Paradoxe. I’ve never passed on a Phlur scent because I have too many that smell like it. But i nearly passed on this one. Now, having said all of that, GR is the best take on this scent profile I’ve come across. The decisions made to use pink pepper instead of bergamot and orange flower water instead of neroli give us a clean perfume that doesn’t smell like perfumed cleaner. If you compare the notes from Paradoxe and GR, it’s easy to see that the scent is nearly same, but the Phlur’s approach feels more intentional and skilled. I will likely replace my Paradoxe with a full bottle of GR when it runs out. I’ll be enjoying the travel spray of GR in the meantime. Btw, It’s also the best performer the brand has released. Lasts all day and the dry down is beautiful. No shock though, given what it smells similar to... these are long lasting accords.

This one... this one has my heart. Sadly, the longevity sucks, but I just re-apply. It’s such a good fruity white floral with vanilla and sandalwood. PERFECT for summer. The mix of notes is amazing 👌 I’ve smelled a lot of fragrances in the last few months and this is the one I decided on. The vibe wearing this is like you’re standing on the beach eating fresh fruit with the sun in your face. Lasts about 4 hours on my clothes. I have yet to receive compliments, which makes me believe the sillage is also weak. If they could have made the fragrance longevity match the price, they’d have completed their mission. Edit: got rid of it. There’s such a small window in the year where it works for me to wear. And longevity sucks. Great, but there’s greater.

This is SO nice! Is it unique? Absolutely not. I agree with the suggested comparisons - in the opening it smells like a mix of Paradoxe and Libre. It's fruitier than Libre but lacks the strong undercurrent of amber found in Paradoxe. In the late dry down it smells like Paradoxe Intense specifically though rather than the aforementioned two. For that alone, I think Golden Rule is actually worth investing in despite it being so "basic" - it's giving me the impression of 3 perfumes in one! (I won't be for the moment as I'm happy with my collection, but this is going on my potential future purchase list.) Longevity is every bit as good as Paradoxe Intense too - sprayed on my hand about 8-9 hours ago and it's still going.

Oh, this is so surprisingly good! When I smelled this in the store, I HATED it, but I got a sample in a discovery set and I decided to give it a try. And it is so, so good. Top notes, I get a fruity floral, but not one I’ve smelled before. There’s a definite pineapple note, which I thought would be weird in a perfume but paired with the white floral, it’s lovely. Then the scent quiets down to a delicious creamy coconutty goodness. Think drinking a pina colada on the beach surrounded by tropical flowers... but better. I don’t get any wood or spice notes, but that might just be my skin. Big fan. Big, big fan. This might have kicked Vanilla Skin out of the way for favorite Phlur scent.

I absolutely fell in LOVE at first sniff! This to me, yes smells familiar but that’s the hope actually of this brand fragrances & they say that in the packaging. It’s supposed to invoke good memories, experiences or senses of a memory in your past or present life. It may smell similar to Prada paradox I need to try them side to side but that’s good for me as I live paradox. I literally placed an order for a full size as soon as I smelled the travel size. This is in my 3 most loved Phlur fragrances in my collection & I have like 14 of them or more. Highly recommend!

Ah, Paradoxe! I couldn’t remember why this smells familiar but yes - that’s it. I would describe both Golden Rule and Paradoxe like: “floral opening, clean laundry dry down.” This is described as vanilla but I’d call it a cozy-blanket vanilla, balanced with other things, NOT a super vanilla like a lotion from B&BW or Tihota. I would not have even used the word vanilla until I saw it listed here as an ingredient. This scent would be great as a daily versatile scent, great for a signature scent. Safe for work or public spaces. Feminine, pretty, cozy, clean.

My man Frank came through on this one. It's sultry and gorgeous. Warm vanilla with tropical notes (coconut and something elusive and sweet); mildly spicy, fruity opening, although I don't detect much citrus, just pear followed by a luxurious fresh floral. I love layering this with Phlur Heavy Cream. The vibe I get is a dinner on the beach at an upscale tropical resort, wearing a sundress and strappy sandals, but it's equally appropriate for a sweater/jeans outfit in the winter. It can be sultry. It can be cozy. It's just fab.

I bought a travel spray and have full-wear tested several times now. Smells VERY similar to Paradoxe Intense, but Paradoxe Intense went really weird on my skin. I wanted to love it, but there was just something so unappealing on my skin. Golden Rule has all the gorgeous facets but smells divine on my skin the length of the wear. If you wanted to love Paradoxe Intense but it didn’t work with your skin, try this. If you love Paradoxe Intense, this would be redundant in your collection.

To me this smells like Prada Paradoxe with added coconut. Absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to wear it this summer! Update : This is absolutely beautiful. Definitely similar to Prada Paradoxe, however it's a bit more playdough-ey and vanillic when it dries down. It's also a lot softer and projects less, I hope it will become a bit stronger with time. I have to convince myself I don't need it since I already own Paradoxe and Paradoxe Intense haha. But it's definitely a love.

LOVE this perfume! It gives me Prada Paradoxe vibes but a little fresher and with coconut. This is exactly what I have been dreaming of recently. It lasts forever although the initial sweetness (top notes) tends to fade within about 3-4 hours. I sprayed this on my wrist at 6pm and I could still smell the mid notes and base of the perfume when I woke up the next morning.

A lovely sweet, fresh pear and mandarin spritz fades to a more warm and subtle fragrance on the dry down - reminiscent of Missing Person but a little sweeter and more coconutty. Really love this one - it’s soft and subtle and feminine. Perfect for summer days. I layer it with Father Figure for a greener, fresher take.

So, I've sat with this scent for about two weeks now and I love it. I plan to buy the bigger bottle. I've gotten quite a few compliments on it and it's a skin scent for me. It leaves a subtle trail and that's how I like it. Here today, gone tomorrow. LOL..

I looove this but I just wish it lasted longer, especially for the price. I get maybe an hour with it. Perfect summer scent tho and I like to wear it with vacation’s sunscreen or aloe perfume for added summery vibes

Gorgeous floral scent! You should definitely be a lover of floral fragrances because if you don’t, this one is not for you. I am super impressed!! Reminds me of Tilia. LOVE this brand!!

Mmm very juicy! It really showcases well in the heat while not coming off cloying. Smells a lot like Born in Roma. The coconut, waterflower and vanilla are more foward to me.

I really like this. I get a lot of juicy mandarin and florals. I don't really get coconut or any type of creamy feeling. I think this will be great for spring and summer.

TLDR; I really wanted the notes and confidence they were selling. Instead they bottled a designer remix. But by no means is it not a good purchase for the right person I like it, but I also like YSL Libre, and that smacked me in the face immediately. I feel like those of us who love phlur have loved the affordable niche that we’re getting and this smells like a designer perfume.... I now even think it’s weird they chose a gold bottle. 😑 it’s an almost exact YSL x Born in Roma mix for a huge price cut. Thats fortunate for some, but unfortunate for those of us who were looking for an inspired 2025 scent that makes us feel confident and unique. I saw someone else describe it exactly as, YSL and Valentino DBR. I truly didn’t believe these notes would collide that way, but it’s like they just tossed them in a tumbler and re bottled it. I’ll absolutely use it, it’s not a “waste” but it’s definitely super sad because, I really needed a “pick me up” perfume that hits the mark on confidence right now. I’ll keep looking, and I’ll update if I feel differently.

golden hour is a beautiful phlur scent. its a very fruity and flowery vanilla, especially on the opening, and develops a more aquatic fruit smell after it settles. it smells a bit like soap/shampoo up close, but its one of those soap scents that would make you buy the soap/shampoo specifically because of the fragrance. everything in this perfume rounds itself out perfectly and makes it very addicting. it doesnt remind me of the beach, though it does remind me of a more sensual evening during the summer. i can see it also fitting during the day as a more flirty fruity vanilla. i personally wouldnt wear it during the early/midday as often though because it just doesnt fit the scent profile as much in my opinion. do your best not to overspray! as dreamy as golden hour is, it can turn into a headache. id say its worth the price for sure.

I agree with the review below, Prada Paradoxe, with a little V&R Flowerbomb Tigerlily warmth. It's very nice, and I will definitely wear it, but I will likely not reach for it often enough to use up my travel size any time soon. The pear is nice, and comes in right away, the coconut comes in as it dries and seems detectable still in the dry-down. The orange flower is a main note in here, but I would not say that is a negative. It mixes well with the pear and coconut. The pear does fade, for the most part. I am not getting any strong citrus, like other reviewers. I would be more excited about this if it were not so similar to scents I already own. If you do not own FB's of the two mentioned above, this may be a good one for you.

I was gifted this for my birthday <3 I'm a big vanilla fan but not normally a fan of coconut. This reminds me a lot of the opening of Coco Shimmy by Snif, which I actually really enjoy! Where it differs is that Golden Rule has a kind of a sharp opening, likely because of the pear and pink pepper combo. I don't get much orange or citrus from this at all. The dry down is beautiful, tropical summer-y. It's interesting that this is a January release because it feels like a Spring break or summer fragrance to me. Golden Rule keeps that beautiful pina colada scent where Coco Shimmy loses it in a matter of 20 minutes. It's got good longevity and overall is a very pleasant scent. It's nothing groundbreaking but I'm not mad at it!

This is YSL Libre, but young and more approachable. Her little sister who lives for spring and summer. No lavender for those who dislike the note. It lacks the sharpness I initially get in Libre. Much softer with the vanilla, sandalwood, and benzoin base. Yet, also not an overly woody or vanilla fragrance. I don’t discern the coconut note, which might have given it a warm weather vibe. While I do think it’s a nice spring/summer fragrance, it can be worn year-round. This doesn’t have the longevity of Libre, but it’s also significantly cheaper. If Libre is too strong for you, but you like the notes, this might be a better option.

This is what I expected Libre Flowers & Flames to smell like, albeit sweeter. Golden Rule is a beautiful floral vanilla with a hint of citrus and a well-defined coconut note. It's cute, flirty and smells like an upscale beach-side boutique rather than sunscreen. Don't be put off by the pink pepper note if you're not a fan of it, as it's used very subtly here. I've yet to smell Paradoxe, but if you like YSL Libre Intense, Rabanne Olympea, Dossier Gourmand White Flowers, etc. I think you'll enjoy Golden Rule as well. Golden Rule is sweeter, but they all have a somewhat similar vibe. :)

I really like this perfume. It feels familiar in the best way—kind of reminds me of Princess by Kilian, even though the notes aren't exactly the same. It has that cozy, slightly sweet vibe that I think a lot of people will find really appealing. Chriselle Lim calls it “the art of attraction,” and honestly, I get it—it’s super easy to like and definitely gets compliments. My favorite part is the dry down. The vanilla, sandalwood, and benzoin becomes really creamy and smooth—just so warm and comforting. Not the most unique scent out there, but definitely one I enjoy reaching for.

This is a mild fruity floral that I find shines in hot weather - the pear keeps the jasmine from being to heavy or headache-inducing. The vanilla is not gourmand-sweet, and combines nicely with a not overpowering sandalwood in the base. Like a few of the other phlur samples I'm tring out, it's a pleasant skin scent. If you want to knock people out with your scent, you will find no value in it at all, but for me, I find it pleasant and even a bit sexy.

I enjoyed the opening, a burst of orange blossom and jasmine, it felt lush and clean. The dry down goes more into the solar frangrance, more elegant, powdery unisex type scent, the jasmine continues to shine through, but with a hint of warmth. I think I like the opening more than the dry down on this wintery morning, but will see how it feels on my skin after a few hours, can see this being really nice in the warmer months.

I bought a 10ml, liking it so far, but need to spend more time with it. Performance so far isn’t so great on me, but I need to spend more time with it. Reminds me of Gorgeous by Michael Kors. **Update - Re. Comparison to MK Gorgeous - it is lives in a similar family / concept but Gorgeous is more floral, a bit more sharp with subtle woods, and Golden Rule is creamier, more round, less floral. But they seem like cousins.

I'm surprised to see this rated as a summer and day time fragrance. To me this is a little heavier and more gourmand, better for nights and fall. The coconut, vanilla, and sandalwood come out the strongest for me. I'm also surprised to see this rated so far feminine, as it reminds me of several classic masculine warm scents. Another from Phlur that I would wear daily if not for the poor staying power.

A fruity, floral scent with a splash of vanilla. Very nice! I guess it's pretty generic, though? Which isn't to say bad, just not all that unique; I've walked past numerous women wearing perfumes that smell basically identical to this. I've been pleasantly surprised by all the Phlur decants I've sampled so far. They're like staple clothes - nothing too outlandish but essential to one's wardrobe.

I almost purchased this the other day from Sephora but I'm glad I took the time to spray it on skin in store. As I let it dry down a good bit it reminded me of a less strawberry version of Burberry Her Elixir. It was just too similar to other fruity florals that I have for me to purchase. It's a pretty fragrance but, I was expecting something more... I guess.

This smells identical to old fashioned, powdered, granular laundry detergent! Seriously. I don't know what it is about the notes, but that is ALL I can smell... And, honestly, it's not even a detractor lol. It gives it a nostalgic and clean feel. I like it and am always slightly intrigued/amused when I wear it! This is the hair & body mist, to be specific.

I like this fragrance on my skin chemistry. I do not get anything Prada Paradox , because I dislike those flankers. This works on my skin and I think its enough warmth and floral for spring. Want a bottle for sure. ** EDIT Ended up returning this as the drydown turned something annoying on my chemistry ....so its back at the store to stay.

I really wanted to love it. The notes are great, sexy and summery, BUT the perfume doesn't remain for long. The longevity of this perfume is ridiculously low, and it doesn't project at all. For the price and hype, I was expecting something a little bit oomph. But I guess my skin doesn't agree with Phlur.

Less sweet version of Prada Paradoxe. I don't smell any coconut at all in this fragrance, just white florals, but not indolic, so I guess white floral water. Not a whole lot of fruits here either. This is still feminine leaning imo, but the sweetness is dialed back. Dries down powdery sweet

I love this new release from Phlur! Golden Rule has nuances that remind me of Paco Rabanne Million Gold For Her and Kilian LDBS Extreme! It’s sweet, yet sophisticated! It’s a slightly tropical vanilla with a cozy sandalwood at the base. I think it’s one of the best from the brand!

Phlur "Golden Rule only lasts about 90 minutes before it vanishes. I really like the fragrance but the longevity is very weak. If you're used to fragrances like Kilian LDBS or BR 540 that last 3-4 hours then you will be dissapointed with Golden Rule. 6/10

Loved it at first try in store, but once I got it home the longevity and projection is lacking 😔 I still adore the journey of the scent from first spritz to the dry down. I don't find it too mature or granny sweet floral like some others.

Lasts so long, I could still smell it after the club. Sweet and flirty without becoming cloying in the heat. A go to summer fragrance and a compliment getter, its my go to for the club now. I can see how it smells like Prada's Paradoxe

This is more citrusy than I thought it would be, according to the chords. But soft and sweet enough for me to enjoy. I think the orange flower water gives it that light freshness, while the coconut and vanilla give it some sweetness.

Smelled this at Sephora - immediately thought "wow Ive smelled this before". This is 100% YSL Libre! Total dupe. It is great, dont get me wrong, I LOVE Libre, but totally unnecessary to get Golden Rule if you already have Libre.

I can’t lie this smells like Prada paradoxe mixed with scooby doo fruit snacks, it’s ok definitely not a winter sent but could be cute for summer

A sweet creamy summery scent that smells unique to me. Not sunscreen heavy, yummy but not in a gourmand way. I like it the more I wear it.

Quite unique, a little retro, a little dusty, a bit spicy (personally for me it is more nutmeg-spicy rather than pepper-spicy), ambery.

Prada Paradox repackaged. It's nice.

Tropical, creamy vanilla with a generic sweet feminine profile. This opens with a burst of super sweet juicy orange and pear with Jasmine announcing itself. There’s an immediate pang of familiarity, it’s a bit like Prada Paradoxe in its dry down (minus the ambroxan) and the other super sweet, feminine fragrances of the 2020s. After 5-10mins it settles to become its own perfume. The sweetness eases slightly, the orange flower water is more delicate on your nose than the bergamot that is used in other perfumes with a similar profile, and then the coconut milk starts to gently come through. This isn’t overly coconutty, there’s just enough in here to give it a velvety, tropical edge. My nose doesn’t pick up any pink pepper in this accord at all. Maybe a tiny hint of spice, but maybe my nostrils are reaching here lol! In the dry down, I’m getting what I now think is the Phlur DNA that’s in Missing Person and Vanilla Skin with the benzoin and sandalwood. It makes for a slightly creamy, sweet tropical vanilla but it’s gentle with a warm comforting, ambery base. An interesting observation, the morning after sampling this, I woke up and smelt my arm where I sprayed Golden Rule and it smells exactly like Missing Person. I think to the general public, they might smell this and asked you if you’re wearing Paradoxe. It’s got that vibe. But it’s more sensual, creamy and tropical compared to Paradoxe’s brightness. To a more trained nose it’s a different perfume. However, if like me, you enjoy Paradoxe on other people but can’t wear it yourself due to nausea inducing headaches, then Golden Rule might work for you. I think it’s safe enough for shared office wear on a sunny day. I’ve had this on all day and there’s been zero headaches. If you’re already a fan of Vanilla Skin and fancy a sweet tropical version, without the musk, for the summer, then this might be perfect for you. If you dislike super sweet perfumes, then you’ll likely dislike this. Collection Status this was a sample from a Phlur discovery set. It’s a nice fragrance, but not my thing and gives me body spray vibes, so I really think it’s not worth the money when you might get the same vibe from a B&BW.

I’m a Phlur fan but I feel like they are becoming a dupe house. Where’s their crazy names? That’s what brought my attention to the house to begin with. The opening of this is very fun.. it has that same gummy bear like quality that Mood Ring has but it’s a bright candied peach. I honestly thought i was going to like this until it took a dark turn into Prada Paradox. Why? Just why? I scrubbed and scrubbed knowing this would not go anywhere and about 7 hours later I’m left with the opening only tamed down mixed with Prada Paradox. If you like the Prada I would say this is better. It did lean a tad animalic. There is no reason to have both unless you really love the scent profile. I usually at least pick up a travel of anything Phlur but sadly I will pass. Whipped Rose is a better version of Mancera Roses Vanille. Why oh why, Phlur?

I bought this on a whim, I’ll be honest. It isn’t a bad fragrance, but not one of my favourites. It has a more youthful DNA than YSL Libre (which I bought my mum) but I find it very similar to many fragrances out there. She isn’t super special. I just get a sweetness and floral with light vanilla and musk. For me personally, nothing to ring home about. Not a super strong vanilla scent for the vanilla people, and the same sentiment goes for the citrus and floral notes. It seems to be rather generic. Though if you are not super particular about your scents and do not have a specific thing you would like to smell like and enjoy all the notes listed, then try her! She doesn’t last very long, but could be nice for the office.

I enjoyed the sweet honeyed clementine topnotes. Then come the vanilla and jasmine—the vanilla here is soft but very sweet. This is a super feminine, friendly, uncomplicated fragrance. It's nice but it doesn't smell like me. I agree with Curly Hen below about the body spray vibe. It does have kind of a Bath & Body Works thing going on—not derogatory, but if you really love this you could probably find a super similar scent profile there. Smells like: Someone who wears ballet flats and does Pilates and straightens their hair every morning.

The first time I wore this it had a horrible screechy opening, possibly the pear or white florals, I'm not completely sure. It dries down quite nicely though fortunately. I discoved this smells much better on a hotter days when the vanilla comes through more and the opening is not so intense so I've been able to enjoy my sample during the heat waves but not something I need more of. Like other Phlurs I've been sampling, it becomes a skin scent fairly quickly.

Mix a lot of Prada Paradoxe, add some YSL Libre, some My Way from Armani then add some I want Choo by Jimmy Choo, a dash of Michael Kors Gorgerous! and a sprinkle of Mugler Alien. Swirl it all up. Redundant release but I suppose it is trendy. Do like it and own it (will probably sell). I realize that whatever accords they used here are abundantly common. It could have been a flanker of any of those above-mentioned lines.
