Mango Mood

Came for the mango, stayed for the floral hedonism. I don't know what chemical sorcery happens on my skin, but that mango lasts all of a fart then dark berries – sure, let's just say they're black currants to be fancy – and those middle notes take over. No vanilla. No patchouli... good, because I dislike that soapy wood smell. Yes, sweetness, but I wouldn't say it's a brown sugar kind of sweet. To my nose, it's the berries that give Mango Mood an earthy, jammy sweetness, and that high-key works to ground those florals. I do get a sprinkle-sprankle of sweet pink pepper, which gives it a faint citrusy zing without actually adding orange, lemons or limes. Love that. ("Mango Perfume, No Coconut, Other Tropical Fruits or Citrus Challenge", anyone? lol) Anyway, back to the mid notes: stunning. Sweet, violet, aquatic and green. Absolutely delicious. Was not expecting to like those florals as much as I did. Not sad about the mango wafting in and out over the next 24hrs. Moderate sillage, beastmode longevity on me. For those who want a photorealistic mango, you won't find it here. This is mango fruit stripped of all the subtle aromachemicals that signal "mango" in your brain. This is a synthetic, candied mango. And, despite the name, it is NOT the star of this fragrance. P.S. If you want a "mango" perfume with intimate sillage that devolves into barely smelling anything (noseblindness? legit poor performance?), comparatively trash longevity (4hrs), and too-strong patchouli to ruin your nose for the rest of the day, try Khadlaj's La Fede Aura Manga Splash. It's exactly the same as Phlur's Mango Mood but slightly more expensive and worse.

I nearly didn’t buy this because of all the negative comments here. But then I thought about it and noticed the notes were similar to other perfumes I enjoy that also happen to be unpopular, so then I decided to say screw it and blind buy it anyway since everyone has different tastes; and I love it! It’s a lovely body mist so I was right to go ahead and buy it regardless of what everyone else is saying. My sister also agrees that it’s great, she said it was sweet but in a good way and I agree, there’s a sweetness to the juicy and realistic mango but it’s also a mature and somewhat sophisticated scent due to the other notes. Personally I’ll be wearing this during the summer as it’s a wonderful summer scent and I’m very surprised a lot of people aren’t fans as to me it feels like a very safe blind buy, I’m kinda confused why so many people don’t like it because I think it’s quite the people pleasing scent too, though to each their own I guess. Edit: this is amazing, I love it and can’t stop smelling myself today since it’s all I’m wearing, maybe it’s just how it reacts to my body chemistry but it’s absolutely heavenly on me, it’s such a sexy scent too which I forgot to mention earlier. When I finish the bottle I have now, I’m 100% getting the biggest bottle.

This is Mango Skin on a budget. Mango Skin is stronger, with a smoother and more refined dry down. But I would say these two are extremely close like 90% similar. I don’t think Vilhelm Perfume reveals all the notes because there is something soft and silky in the dry down that Mango Mood does not replicate. When I smell Mango Mood I pick up a realistic, juicy mango and a spicy grounding patchouli that does not smell dirty. There is a little sweetness in the base that I think is the brown sugar and vanilla. I do not smell any florals. I have had this for about year and the Mango hangs around a lot longer now. When my bottle was new the mango note dissipated quickly. Longevity is very good and the projection is moderate. Which I think is a positive because patchouli is such a polarizing note. For layering suggestions: anything from the Rabanne Fame line. But for something more tart, pair it with Saltair Exotic Pulp. 8/10, because Mango Mood is a versatile, easy reach scent that stands out and can be worn year round.

Wow do I love this. Heard that it’s similar to Mango Skin and that is 90% true. It has that juicy yet green mango with a black berry undertone like in mango skin. There is a very light patchouli way in the back and becomes slightly sweeter in the dry down. Lasts pretty good too for a body spray, like 6 hours. So happy to have this in my collection such as steal for $38 and that it’s a great dupe for mango skin

when compared to the tiny sample of Mango Skin that I have, this is an exact dupe. I love the sweet perfume-y, juiciness of this scent and that it performs like a perfume! such a good one to use during the summer while ur at the beach or use before bed for an uplifting scent. I did get the larger size but honestly you do. not. need that much since the performance is amazing for just a few sprays.
