Not Your Baby

This one was super surprising to me. I do not, as a rule, like powdery perfumes. The opening notes in this one cannot be described as anything but powdery. However, at least to my nose, it does not give baby powder. I think it is the powder note most often associated with violet that I pick up on. I can't honestly say that I detect cardamom, mimosa, Tonka bean, sandalwood, or vanilla as individual notes, but I think they come together to make an innocent sweetness that I just love. It's probably been 30 or more years since I last smelled Love's Baby Soft, but when I first encountered Not Your Baby, I got a very strong memory that took me back to middle school dances. It's not a replica, but it's Baby Soft's sophisticated older sister--still innocent, but with a touch of sensuality. It's a perfect every day perfume and light enough for wear around people who don't like fragrance. It doesn't project far--maybe arm's length--but it does last all day.

Well, I have had a baby, and nothing about this perfume reminds me of baby wipes. It reminds me more of milky baby’s breath. It also reminds me very much of a fragrance I loved a long time ago by Crabtree & Evelyn, called Susanna. It came in the sweetest baby-pink packaging. I was probably 12 when I fell in love with it and bought a tiny bottle. I still have the bottle! It was a sweet, soft and innocent floral. I always got the image of pink baby roses. This smells so similar to Susanna but with an added note of warm milk. I detect mimosa and a hint of violet in the mix. It becomes increasingly milky into the heart and base--and it's the best milk note I have ever come across in a perfume. Reminds me of condensed milk. Nuclear strength, this perfume! One spray in the morning is still radiating straight to my nose 6 hours later. I’m so glad I discovered this! Thought I’d never smell “Susanna” again! This is like a creamy gourmand version of it.

Love this one. It is strong from first spray, with a prominent violet note. Overall it is a powdery sweet violet scent with a hit of spice and vanilla. After a half hour or so the violet calms a little and it becomes more blended and the individual notes are not quite as distinct. As it progresses it becomes almost a skin scent, clean, powdery, fresh. There is absolutely no fecal or even fruity smell - I feel like I'm smelling a completely different fragrance than some of the reviewers below and I'm a mom and have dealt with plenty of poopy diapers. I'm stumped by some of the analogies. It's a love for me, but not a safe blind buy unless you love powder and violet notes. Also, the performance on this one is far better than Missing Person! ETA: This is in the same vein as Kenzo Flower but I find it much more wearable. I love rose but the prominent rose in Flower coupled with the powder and violet is too much for me to wear regularly.

I’ve been having a hard time with Not Your Baby by Phlur. I bought a bottle two years ago and loved it, wearing it every day. After about three months, I noticed the scent started smelling off, and the liquid inside had turned yellow. Since then, I’ve sprayed it a few times at Sephora, and it smells great when the juice is clear. However, I’ve seen a few different bottles at different Sephoras with the liquid turned yellow, and when I sprayed it on myself, the off-putting smell came back. I’m starting to think it’s the formula. Has anyone else experienced this?

Surprisingly long lasting(8-10hrs), very modern, very chic. On me the cardamom and mimosa, and violet, really project on me and the sandalwood base sticks around forever and smells like buttery popcorn...it’s strangely delicious. Every time I’ve worn this and people hug me they dig their nose into my neck. Love this perfume, it’s innocent and playful. Not the loudest, but if over-sprayed can be more noticiable and get a really solid moderate projection. Summer scent for this year, for sure! And the bottle is so cute!

The opening of this is so good, a little crisp, a little powdery. As it dries down, it turns into mimosa, almond milk, rice flower. Definitely the fragrance of an innocent girl, I wouldn’t even call it alluring or inherently seductive whatsoever. With that being said, it’s light, delicious and comforting. I really like this one. Layered with baby lotion, I could see it being a winner. I feel thus scent would be easy to layer in general with something powdery, vanillic or even coconut based. Very nice.

I have to agree with the comment below. What baby head? If at all, than baby as in a loved one. Gorgeous fragrance.. on my skin this becomes a milky flowery freshness with a bit of a spicy cardamom at the top. Soothing and happy. Discovered it only couple of weeks ago and am actually sorry this is becoming discontinued. The lasting power and even the projection is actually impressive for Phlur as most of them are rather an intimate situation.

This is a delightful scent. Bright floral at first, slightly more powdery on the drydown, then warm & smooth violet powder with creamy cardamom. I was afraid the tonka bean would overwhelm, but it's perfect with the other base notes. I smell like baked goods 30 minutes after application but not in loud or synthetic way. I don't think I would pay $100 for the full size, but I would definitely wear it if someone were to gift it to me 😉

I love this so much - was thrilled to finally get a bottle for Christmas (dropped many hints). It reminds me of changing nappies/diapers but in a good way - it reminds me of the sweet moments I shared with my babies when they were tiny, at nappy change time when it was just me and them and I was caring for them. The dry down smells like a full diaper belonging to a breast fed baby - sounds revolting but if you know, you know!

Say what you will about this smelling like babies (in a bad way), but I can’t agree. Are we still even using baby powder on babies? Yes it is powdery. But I found that the base notes strongly pushed through even very shortly after I first sprayed this on. The warmth of the tonka bean and vanilla are so satisfying against the cardamom top note. It feels very cozy and comforting. Never once made me think of my own baby ^_^

I LOOOVE this perfume. I find it is such a great everyday cozy scent and it lasts a lifetime on me. I often wear this to bed and I can still smell it - strongly- the next morning. I know the hype is over Missing Person, but I just could not get down for it. It made me feel queasy and I was skeptical to try “Not Your Baby” but I’m so glad I did. If you’re not a fan of MP, definitely try this ❤️

I adore this fragrance. I wore this after I gave birth to my second daughter at the hospital to create memories tied to it. I thought the name funny in the circumstance But that being said it has that baby powder, baby fragrance lipsticky vibe to it but more modern. Sweet, powdery, delicate but still projects. It’s not the longest wearing in my collection by far but I really enjoy it.

This is such a nostalgic scent for me, it smells like a perfume I had when I was younger but its now elevated. I put this on around 6pm last night and at 11am the next morning it is still so incredibly strong! I'm super impressed with the longevity, I only did one spray on my wrist and it still smells like I just sprayed it on. I'm sure with more sprays this will be eternal.

I am obsessed with this scent!! First time I tried it it didn’t really stick out among the other Phlur scents in my sample kit. But when I started wearing it, I quickly became besotted. It’s so cute and comforting in a soft way, powdery with a hint of flowers and sunshine. And babies, or kittens. Something about it just gives me a rush of nostalgia and happiness. 10/10

I hate the smell of baby powder and I didnt even know that I liked powdery scents until I smelled this baby and I am OBSESSED with her. I looooooove this scent. She is THAT girl. She's a girl's girl knows how to style her hair just right and will help you do yours too. She always has the cutest clothes and the latest makeup trends and doesn't gatekeep. We love her.

Hmm... i think i would have loved it amazingly had i not already owned Jo Malone’s Mimosa&Cardamom fragrance. They are identical, only difference is that NOT YOUR BABY has a vanilla note to it and is sweeter. I personally love to mix this with MISSING PERSON to create an even more unique fragrance. Still love it regardless on it’s own. ⋆ ̊。⋆౨ৎ ̊

I don't typically like sweet perfumes or gourmands, but this registers really fresh-powdery and spicy on me. I wear it every day in the summer. I ordered the Phlur sample kit expecting to like a skin scent like Missing Person and fell in love with this one and bought a full bottle. It is clearly polarizing, so I'd say try it before you buy!

I absolutely adore this scent, from top to bottom. I don’t get diapers or baby heads, but I also don’t have kids. It smells like a happy young woman frolicking in a flower field with a mischievous smile. It’s sexy and innocent at the same time. I’m on my third bottle and I hope they don’t discontinue this!!!

This is like a slightly floral milky baby powder but in a good way somehow!! I do really enjoy it but I have to layer it with perfume oil and overspray to get any longevity. I typically do not like powdery scents but I think it's really nice. Definitely can see how it is not for everyone.

I might be biased because I really love the smell of baby wipes but this perfume is so nice. It smells somewhat clean (like baby wipes) but the cardamom note makes it smell sweet and comforting. Reminds me somewhat of south asian deserts because of the milky cardamom scent.

This reminds me of a grown up version of Love’s Baby Soft! It’s a very nostalgic scent for me. I like it a lot. I would classify this as a “snuggle/bed” scent. Or a “rainy day, watch a movie at home” scent. There is definitely a place for it in my collection.

Gosh finally got a chance to smell this on my trip as its not available where i live. It literally smelled like a warm hug and faint faint lotion. I’d love to have it but i can get same effect from actual vanilla lotion.

This scent is lovely. I also want to say that I wore this to work the other day and my coworker told me that I smelled “like a freshly washed baby”. So it’s really living up the baby smell allegations. LOL

Its definitely not my every day scent, but I feel so powerful wearing this! Its very sexy. The performance is incredible. I love how I feel wearing this so I don't care what other people think.

I love this mostly for that cardamom note. Makes it so cozy and unique. I also get some of that Tonka and Sandalwood adding to the creaminess. It’s one of my more unique perfumes.

Im shocked with the reviews. I absolutely love this perfume. Wish it lasted me longer. I don't smell powder at all. It reminds me of jolly ranchers or some sweet candy.

Most beautiful scent ever but I would like to note that I feel like it’s overpriced as it smells almost identical to guess marciano which is under $30.

I kind of love this. I can see the Mimosa and Cardamom similarities but it is more lactonic/sweet. This is also superrrrr lipsticky in the best way!

Personal: 7/10 - It's fun, playful, and powdery. I enjoy it, though I don't find it particularly enthralling. Mass appeal: 8/10 – Sweet, powdery, spicy, fun fragrances are pretty safe, but the milkiness may be divisive. Performance: 6/10 - Its performance is fine, but it's still a light fragrance, despite warm notes. Value: 6.5/10 - Phlur's pricing is reasonable for semi-niche, but the DNA isn't worth it to me. Uniqueness: 7.5/10 - Cardamom and sweetness isn't unique, but this violet forward angle is. It's still firmly in mainstream leaning territory, but it has personality and airiness despite warm notes. SCORE: 70/100 Full bottle buy? NO, fun, but lacks depth or masterful blending. Blind buy? YES, it's safe, but there's cardamom. Only safe you like Le Male le Parfum. Recommend? YES, if you want something playful, light, and still spicy. Date night? YES, casual, fun, and a little quirky. Office safe? YES, light, approachable, and it won't offend anyone. But not everyone will love it. Pros: Playful, girly, gourmand with a twist. It's approachable and fairly easy to wear. Cons: The spiciness certainly isn't for everyone. Not super interesting. Violet isn't universally liked. Not Your Baby gives off the baby powdery violet, spicy cardamom, and sweet YELLOW floral profile in the best way possible. It's really solid, and offers a lot of what Le Male le Parfum offers, but in a more unisex, and softer, form of delivery. It's got a creaminess that LMLP lacks that I associate more with a chai tea than a perfume. This doesn't quite fall into the gourmand territory, but it's close enough. Disclaimer first - I’m not as educated on the technical terminology of fragrances as most people here are. I’m just a Joe-Schmoe who likes stuff that smells nice. Okay, moving on... Every once in awhile I crave the smell of baby shampoo. I had to use baby shampoo for a long time because, supposedly, I was allergic to many other shampoos but not baby shampoo. That’s per my mom. How I could be allergic to other shampoos but not a shampoo with as much fragrance as stereotypical baby shampoo beats me. Anyway. It’s a nostalgic, comforting smell for me. So I knew I had to try this. I fell in love immediately. Not Your Baby so like the grown up, slightly sexier? version of baby shampoo fragrance. However, what I failed to realize is baby wipes also smell similar and of course when you smell baby wipes, your brain immediately associates that smell with baby poop and urine. So I can’t say it’s a great fragrance to wear out in public but it’s nice to me and I like to wear it around the house. However, it has 0 longevity and 0 sillage. I’ve used some really crappy body sprays and perfumes in my day and still this perfume, and the only other one by Phlur that I own, have the shortest longevity I have ever experienced — we’re talking an hour TOPS. After an hour, there’s nothing left. Not even a whisper or hint of it on flesh or clothing.

I like this- to me it smells clean, soapy. A lot like the old school Palmolive liquid dish detergent- the bright green one. It also smells like an older shampoo they used to make- Prell, which was also very very green. It was also concentrated and in a tuble so you would squeeze it out like toothpaste- it was marketed for oily hair and extreme drying. Just a very clean soapy scent with a hint of sandalwood- not sexy, but nice for daytime wear, just a little something to spray on during the day for work or home. I did not get baby anything- not baby powdery, milky, diapery, vomity, etc- it is just nice, clean, inoffensive. (or after reading other reviews- I hope it's inoffensive) I only use a little bit of perfume, though. I can't see spraying a ton on. Since I said soapy, clean and nice in my review a lot, obviously nothing too crazy. No strange guys buying flowers and running after me (like the Prell and Palmolive- very 70s 80s reference iykyk) And like others have said- it is discontinued so cheaper than usual on the website, which is why I went ahead and bought the bottle.

This doesn’t smell like babies at all. (Thank God) I think some people just let the names of fragrances get into their heads too much. To me it comes off as a very clean, soapy, floral skin scent. It reminds me of something from decades ago but i don’t know what it is. The cardamom doesn’t really stick out, but i think it rounds out the top notes and prevents the florals from taking over. The bergamot contributes to the soapy quality. It is definitely somewhat powdery too. The sandalwood and tonka give a nice earthy base to it. I didn’t expect to like it—i only have it because my mom got it for herself and didn’t really like it so she gave it to me. But i really do like it. It’s a clean, pink scent. Sadly it doesn’t have much sillage after the dry-down and it is like, completely gone after a few hours. Edit: this is honestly a banger. I bought another travel size—the full sized bottles are sold out and it’s discontinued. I’ll be sad when it’s gone.

I love a good baby scent if it's done in the right way (baby shampoo, lotion, and as a Gen X, the smell of Cabbage Patch dolls I played with as a kid). This takes me back to when my kids were babies. The gentle soft smell of their freshly washed hair. The sweet little baby's breath burp after a feeding. The whiff of baby clothes/blankets as you take them out of the dryer. Upon first spray - I get more of a yellow floral/green type of scent, which truthfully isn't my favourite. The true beauty of this fragrance comes out as it dries down. Just the right balance of soft and sweet. This isn't something you'd wear out on a date or to the office - it's something you'd spray while you're enjoying a day off at home, curling up with a book, or getting ready for bed. Worth having in your collection if this type of fragrance appeals to you. A travel spray is best if you want it to last all day - I only get 4-6 hours on my skin.

My initial take on this perfume differs entirely from all the reviews I have seen. The cardamom and vanilla notes in this perfume reminded me of an authentic cup of chai. As a south asian person, I associate the scent of cardamom with the chai we make at home. Now, I'm aware it doesn't entirely smell like chai, the cardamom just reminded me of so. My initial thoughts on it were that it was a unique floral twist on a cardamom-heavy vanilla chai which was why I loved it. Seeing all the comments on it discussing that it smells like a baby/baby powder made me realize that it kinda DOES smell like that after it dries down haha. It's weird because it really does feel that there is a musk to it that makes it smell skin-like. But honestly, this perfume is so unique, warm, and comforting.

How in the world did the Phlur company distill a whole ass baby? This is a whole photorealistic baby. A nice clean baby, washed with Johnson's Baby Wash (original), massaged with baby lotion, with clean baby clothes that have been washed in Dreft, and who has just had a full diaper change and you can still smell the baby wipes. You hold the warm snuggly thing and sniff the top of it's head, boom, "Not Your Baby". I really enjoy this scent a lot, I want to keep sniffing it, but I absolutely do not want to smell like it, nor do I want anyone around me over the age of four months to, and I would probably side eye anyone who did smell like this on purpose in real life. Maybe it's not so weird for people who haven't held many newborns.

Comparisons of this to the Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom are not my experience... the sweet violet and vanilla are dominant on me, with a soft nuttiness from the tonka bean (which always happens with my chemistry). When I wear this, I smell like maple oatmeal: lightly powdery (not baby powder or talcum), sweet brown sugar, and sandalwood-earthy. The review below about 'cooked pasta' sounds like the dark side of the cozy warmness I experience! Editing to add (12/10/23): got a full bottle (not sample) and it makes me so nauseated. Something about the bergamot mixed with the “cereal” note is absolutely stomach turning. I’m so sad because I loved this... too bad.

Not your baby has a powdery sweet floral scent that really surprisingly reminds me of a very pleasant baby powder. The violet really comes through making this scent turn into a pleasant powder. The tonka bean and vanilla base also come through as support for a deeper sweet smell. I am surprised with how well balanced the whole scent is because all elements come together to create a unified beautiful scent. I don’t think this scent transforms a lot but the scent it gives it really a nice skin scent. It stays very close to the skin and is another perfect before bed smell. However I can also see this scent being perfect for spring with its florals. ☺️💕

My college scent was Lacoste Inspiration, and I really mourn the fact that it was discontinued. But this gives me flashbacks in the best way. It's a powdery vanilla with some florals - it is missing the white floras that Inspiration had, but maybe for the best that it doesn't smell *exactly* the same... I get the nostalgia for the scent without feeling like I'm in college again. To me, this is very "hot girl summer" even though it has more mature powder and yellow floral notes. I can pick up on the play-doh notes if I try, but I have to be focusing on trying to find that.

I like this, maybe not enough for a full bottle but definitely enough purchase the travel size any time I run out. This has a very "your skin but better" aspect to it for me. It does smell a little baby powdery and then there's like the slightest peach milky vanilla thing going on. It smells fuzzy. If you know, you know. This would make a nice daily scent for someone who doesn't really want a perfume that is overly obvious. Once it dries down, it really kinda smells like you just washed your skin with a sweet baby powdery soap and you can smell the remnants left behind.

First of all, I must say that Phlur really knows what they’re doing with perfume. I have tested most of their perfumes and my favorites are Not Your Baby, Mood Ring, and Missing Person is now growing on me. I put NYB on around noon yesterday and it was still going strong when I went to sleep around midnight. I took a shower this morning and I can still smell it, a very flirty and sweet scent. I love how it changes to be a little more gourmand with shower steam. But yes, Phlur makes lasting perfumes. Well worth the price for its quality.

It smells sparkling, like carbonated. It also smells like that one scene in Dirty Dancing where Baby is watching couples dancing on the bandstand next to the lake at night (y'know, before the whole abortion plot) Wait... 'Baby', is that where I'm getting this from? To me, it smells like rose gold fireworks dissolving over a lake on a warm summer's night. Edit: Okay, clearly I've never smelled a baby in my entire life. But if this is what they smell like, I need to find one. Also, Playdough - that's what I'm smelling now. Still like it.

I believe this is a very skin specific scent. I’m not sure if it’s a Phlur thing, but very different scent than notes claim on me. It started with cardamom, which I was excited about, then quickly hit the violet ( which oddly reminded me of a Prada Iris scent) then quickly became a powdery confusion. I didn’t hate it, but if I bought a full size based on notes,I’d return it. It did have nice sillage, and was on my skin about 4 hours, clothes 5. I think I’ll not revisit, and don’t recommend a blind buy here.

Liking Not Your Baby was this powder hater’s conversion! And I know why. This reads distinctly lactonic to me, like what I wish every scent that lists heavy cream smelled like. Milky sweet, not sugary. A skin scent for a lucky few. On me, this didn’t veer toward diaper territory (thank god) or grandma’s house, but it’s definitely not for everyone...or everyone around you. Used up a travel size happily but I’ll forgo the full bottle because I’m told it’s too baby powder-y. Oh well!

Fresh, green scent with a bit of powder intially. Smells peppery and squeaky clean. Non-projecting. Retains fresh smell, develops sweetness and more powder on die down. I get the name - It’s like an angsty "teen" baby that starts off really fresh with you, green in the gills, but over time softens into a lovely baby powder scent. Imagine a toddler saying “I'm not your baby” crossing their arms, but secretly they really are wanting love and affection after they cool off.

I just got this soft beautiful fragrance. Love it, and I have to say I love cardamom in fragrances. I get mimosa also and this is a soft close to skin minimalistic type of fragrance. Does not smell like wipes at all, trust me I’m a mom! This is the white T-shirt and jeans with loafers type of fragrance. Perfect for spring and summer too. Longevity so far 2 hours. Soft so the sillage is close to skin. I do recommend 8/10 the 8 because it sits so close to skin.

i don't know how this manages to SMELL cute, but it does. i have to resist the urge to say "awww" every time i smell it which is a new experience for me for sure. i don't get the baby or diaper smell that people seem to be complaining about? its very soft and springlike. more floral than i was expecting but very gentle and grounded by the powdery and vanilla notes. it reminds me of vintage illustrations of little fairies sleeping in flowers.

This smells like spring lilacs in a bottle! The most airy, fuzzy, ethereal, soft flowers, like walking through a spring garden in full bloom. Edit: This seems to change on my skin depending on the weather or my body chemistry...on a hot day it pulled very powdery and Nivea body cream that was borderline cloying... Still pleasant and soft floral, but I'll need to try it out a few more times!

So I used to wear this back in freshman year of college, and I had super mixed feelings about it. I used to get complimented by my coworker a ton about it, but it never really convinced me... But now as a senior, I've come back to it and ordered a used mini and... Damn. It smells like what I imagine Fawn from Pixie Hollow smells like. Like... it smells like a fairy!

I didn’t get the baby diapers from the perfume but that’s literally all the lotion and body wash smell like. Straight up diapers. Glad I got them on sale. The perfume has those notes but there’s enough accompanying them that it’s not overwhelming to my nose. That being said, it’s nothing special to me. And the performance leaves a lot to be desired. This is...fine.
