Siano

Siano is surprisingly niche! The green pepper is incredibly STRONG and lends a strangely edible and realistic moist vegetal note. I've tried my fate share of niche and indie greens, but I've never experienced one like this. Outside of the pepper, I smell a shock of hay-honey osmanthus, crunchy bright mimosa, and fruity banana ylang. I don't smell cognac at all, but maybe it contributes to the tangible heavyweight of Siano. Siano is fruity without smelling like outright fruit. It is is not very floral, just oddly natural smelling. Not like sourced from nature per se, but like a theoretical scent that you may come across in the middle of a wild field. Siano is quite sweet while escaping either a gourmand or abstract perfumey bent. The sun total of all the odds and ends that call themselves notes reminds me of some exotic, alien fruit that probably tastes good but is just as likely to poison you, so you decide to just appreciate it at a distance. Love how unique Siano is! Also, it does not wash off, you must commit to wearing it.

Siano was, for me, an unexpected revelation, resembling as it does a gorgeous, long-discontinued scent by Royal Apothic, "League of Taxidermy and Preservation." That fragrance's name and packaging suggested something gothic and decadent, so it's interesting that this very similar fragrance by Phlur markets itself on their website as the house's "party girl" entry. I can see where this comes from -- this is a long-lasting, strong, bold scent. But it's not what I would consider a mainstream or obviously club-friendly. Siano is deep and rich, but without any of the candy sweetness or richer gourmand notes that typify current mainstream, more youthful nighttime scents. This has a vegetal green opening and a deep floral drydown. It's perfectly appropriate for hip, dark bars and outdoor dining. It's by no means a dupe, but it has something in common with the floral opulence of Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid. It's a definite evening scent, but in no way exclusive to clubbing. For this kind of scent, I think this is exceptional.

I agree with below - I was concerned about this being too feminine - however, it is actually delicious, and easier to pull off than chergui, David Yurman limited edition, along with many other unisex marketed fragrances. The first spray is a bit of peach or tangy grapefruit - very sparkly and delicious. As that slows down, it hits a more unisex-y vibe with some light sweetness. The citrus is so abundant, I was first tricked into believing it was powder - I think that's where the feminine vibe comes in. But fear not, I'm a burly, 250lb man and I'm enjoying every minute of this. So far I have been VERY impressed with this house as a whole - their offerings all exude quality and I have been very pleased with the three which I've tried - pleased enough to buy a full bottle of siano! 7/10

This is really beautiful! If Tokyo Milk La Vie La Mort and Estee Lauder's Beyond Paradise had a baby, this would be it. Actual notes: Green pepper, Ylang Ylang, Osmanthus, Mimosa, Cognac Impressively sophisticated and feminine. Somewhat of an overripe fruit note for about a half hour. Definitely a fruity-floral, but not typical and obnoxious. Absolutely radiant!

starts with rich fruit, almost overripe plum, along with some kind of sweet but not food smell that reminds me of a Lush store, green leafy base. With time it gets richer, spicier with some pepper, dark florals, fruit and some boozy notes. On clothes it is a little powdery, but still not "old" smelling. This is surprisingly great!

I think its more unisex then the rest of the line from PHLUR. Siano is a great composition of jasmine (or some kind of a floral, reminds me of jasmine), honey, black pepper, orange with a nice greenness. Very pleasant scent that anyone could wear.

I absolutely love Siano and find it addictive. It falls into that celebrity scent type of fruity-floral-synthetic-musky category that seems universally appealing, but this one is more complex, with more clear definition of notes. At first it reminds me of My Burberry Black and also J'Aime by La Perla. Siano starts out with intense, sweet fruity notes, like syrupy pear and sweet citruses, combined with musk. There is a subtle floralcy to it that I can not define. Over the course of an hour, I notice a nice balsamic note developing, adding a bit of an anchor to an otherwise Victoria's Secret-type of fragrance (which is fine! I'm not knocking VS). I find it really sexy and playful. Hours later the fruit has evaporated, and there is a deepening of the scent, a more Oriental feel, a more prominent amber note along with some woods. It makes me think of the color umber. The musk becomes surprisingly animalic on my skin--Rrrrrr!! Smells identical to perfumes I have worn that definitely contain natural civet, proving once again that cruelty-free ingredients can easily replace the real thing. In this stage, I also can distinguish some individual floral notes. I get a dark, subdued rose coupled with a gentle jasmine. Ten hours pass, and all that's left is that sensual, musky note that just smells luminous and golden. I sprayed once on each wrist. Sillage is great for the first couple of hours, then it becomes softer. My hairdresser said I smelled really nice. Notes should be: Violet, Rose, Jasmine, woody notes, musk, resins, floral notes, amber, cedar, fruity notes, pepper, honey ^ I smelled the majority of the notes at various stages. Update: It's been weeks since I wrote my review, and Siano is haunting me. Update: I bought a bottle albeit many months later! Edit: Since writing my review, Phlur added more notes. They now say they now say the fragrance is “energized by green pepper, ylang ylang, osmanthus, mimosa and cognac“.

Phlur is a gender-neutral fragrance line, but Siano strikes me as quite feminine. Immediately after a spritz on the wrist, I'm able to pick up bright citrus, peach, and floral notes, and so is my partner from across the room. This has quite a bit of sillage. An hour or so later, the scent transforms into honeyed peach / honeysuckle, and several hours later it calms down to something soft and warm that's a bit difficult to describe as anything but pleasant. An all around sweet scent that I'm thoroughly enjoying.

It is hard finding natural scents without the chemical allergens that my boyfriend is allergic to. I got a sample set and this and Moab are the ones I like most. I am wearing this one today and overall like it very much, I'm not sure I want a whole bottle of anything right now, wish they offered a 15ml option. I'm not sure about nighttime wear exclusively, it is happy, upbeat and fresh on me, definitely good in springtime or summer.

A very interesting and multi-layered scent. The opening is strong yellow floral, then it mellows and settles into the cognac/boozy notes. The dry down to me smells almost like patchouli and gives a slight oriental, spicy vibe, yet still maintaining the floral base. Great complexity and staying power (around 6-8 hours on me). All of Phlur's scents have impressed me so far and they are very unique.

Definitely very big and boozy mimosa--loved it originally, but I feel like it's way too loud for me. Lasting power is insane and bottle is beautiful, just much prefer Hanami. I have a 80% bottle I'd love to sell if anyone wants it. DM me!

I just received my samples from Phlur today, and I am already quite impressed with this fragrance house. Upon first spray I am hit with a blast of lush fruit overtoned with a slight citrus tang. To me it smelled of plum or peach, and had an almost juicy quality to it. This is definitely not a linear fragrance and over the next hour something more floral came to the surface. This has quite a lot of silage, and from afar there is something that reminds me of Creed Fleurs de Gardenia in this. There is definitely a white floral base under those fruit notes. I also detect something almost boozy in here. By the end of the day this had dried down to a nice lightly powdery but sweet white floral on my skin with just a touch of something fruity lingering, and it definitely lasted all day. As I said in my review of Moab, this smells like a far more expensive fragrance and is more interesting than much of the department store fodder in a similar price bracket. To me this is much more feminine than unisex, but I can definitely see men who appreciate a good white floral pulling this off.

BEWARE! When I sprayed this on, it was just once on the neck and twice around my hair. I tried wiping it off six times within 5 minutes and even had to change out my scarf and sweater. I thought from the pictures that I should wear this out on a ladies night, and the picture that it actually paints as you wear it is so god awful (and keep in mind, I am a ridiculously avid collector and tester of so many kinds of perfumes with low maintenance and expectation), that I had to keep wiping away the frown on my face that it caused that I had to keep inhaling this scent in the air it was so repulsive. Firstly, it comes off with a sharp floral that can only be smelt as pissed-on honeysuckle, either that, or a strange antiquities florals doused piece of fur that still has cat piss emanating from it. Then, as the perfume settles, you can smell dead and bitter Violets That's all folks. NEVER AGAIN. Even if you offered me a thousand dollars to wear it for one day, no way!

The ingredients smell top -quality, that's the only nice thing I have to say, I got trials of this, the Moab, and the Hanami and they're all far too gender-neutral for my taste, but they're more then gender-netural, they're neutral-neutral (with the addition of cinnamon in the case of Moab). They just say--nothing about a person at all. This starts out as if someone put Angel and a bellini in a blender. In a few hours, it dries down to smelling like an expensive hotel room-- but they all kind of smell like that -- genderless, aimless, pointless, passionless, there's no humanity there, they're mannequins, they're plastic Ken dolls, they all smell like office buildings or a hotel room, where there's a bed -- in which nothing ever happens.

I am wearing this right now and it's going on the second hour of wear. I'm looking forward to a shower and being rid of it, but it's not bad enough to be a scrubber. What faint praise! It smells exactly like the smell of laundry coming out of a steam vent from a small apartment building I pass on my evening walk. So, if you like the smell of dryer sheets, you'll love this! I don't actually mind the smell, but I'd prefer it on my sheets, not my skin. I like my fragrances with more sensuality. I've got an image of robots spritizing this to smell good. Not the best way to feel about fragrance imho.

This is one of my 3 samples, and while I really liked Hanami, this one has a sour note that reminds me of a lot of vintage perfume I feel like I am supposed to like but don't. It is light and fresh and gives me just the slightest bit of Grey Flannel, a fragrance I don't like. I also don't see the idea of going out with this scent. Doesn't say party and dancing to me at all. Maybe it is just my body chemistry.

I must say I hate the opening. The floral scent is overwhelming and very feminine. Once it settles down the booze starts to take over, and it reminds me of a tamer Bvlgari Man in Black. Longevity is good, sillage is light like most Phlur fragrances.

I think this reminds me of one of those 'dz' perfumes - Dzongka or Dzing. Or I might be completely mis-remembering.
