Tangerine Boy

MEN OF THE WORLD–IF YOU WEAR THIS, BE PREPARED TO BE FLIRTED WITH. NOBODY WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE. I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T. This is a wonderful unisex scent, and does exactly what it advertises–it would work easily on men and women alike, or anyone really. As a woman, I would have a lot of fun wearing this sunny, cheerful, bold and delightfully juicy tangerine fragrance. It's a more overtly juicy and sweet version of Clinique Happy, another fragrance I love wearing–and much like it, I do feel my mood brighten when smelling this, let alone testing it. If I smelled this on a man, I'd go crazy, plain and simple. This is a scent that advertises fun, approachability, energy and ease–which in and of itself is very sexy. Tangerine Boy is inoffensive in both scent and performance. Along with its sweet but not cloying, fruity and herby notes–nicely toned down by grassy moss and gentle, sparkling green apple–it has good, moderate sillage, especially on clothes. It also doesn't overstay its welcome. The tester lasted about three hours on my skin. It helps that it's not just a fruit fragrance–I think that slight twist of ginger at the top gives it that sparkly unisex vibe and keeps it from being too flirty and sweet. I'm tempted to get this for myself. And when I snag a guy, I might get this for him too. An instant summer classic.

Blotter v skin and opening v dry down is night and day. I wonder if people comparing to the Atelier citrus scents above have tested on skin... I say this because in the opening, it's a pleasant somewhat generic sparkly musky tangerine. In fact, I was generously gifted this scent from Phlur and when I received it, because of this, I immediately dismissed it. I was with my mom who happens to love citrus scents and she was like ohh I'll take it then! So I gave it to her. She sprayed it and again, didn't think much. An hour later, I was wondering what that sexy musky cologne-esque smell was. AND LOL wouldn't you know, it was my own mother. I think it takes the drydown to really understand the name and inspo of this scent (the key art gives F-boy in Miami vibes). And you know what, in the dry down it did indeed make my 60-something year old mother smell like an F-boy. A really freudian dilemma amirite? Game-changing? No. Unparalleled? no. But easy-to-wear, sexy, musky, mossy, cool all under the guise of a fresh sparkling tangerine? def. Is this fragrance responsible for the Renaissance of my mom? tbd. Anyway, all this to say, I quite enjoy this and you owe it to yr damaged self (oh am I projecting?) to wait for the drydown.

This legitimately smells like tangerine juice! 🍊 I tried this several times because it's the only one that interests me from the house of Phlur. I'm a citrus lover and this is probably the best tangerine fragrance I've experienced. Admittedly, there's not a ton of tangerine centered frags out there. It smells sweet and a bit tart, and a little juvenile but I still like it. I also like that it sticks with citrus the whole time without morphing into something else (which is cool) although musk or vetiver would be have been a good base a good option. However, I think those notes I just mentioned are too mature for it's target audience. It accomplishes this full citrus experience with aromachems (natural citrus will not last that long), and because of that, it become more synthetic as time goes on. I considered buying it at full retail but it's a bit too young for me. However, I would grab this on discount to wear around the house. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 7/10

Photo realistic tangerine. Not orange - actual tangerine. Super energizing. As is typical with citrus perfumes, it fades after an hour. But- here's how I use it: Saltair makes the BEST smelling moisturizers, body oils, and mists (not a paid endorsement). The Exotic Pulp line layers very nicely with Tangerine Boy and I can smell like a fresh, photorealistic tangerine for at least 4 hours. It's my summer smell. Also layers super well with so many other perfumes. Commodity Milk (Creamsicle), Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere (great for fall), Byredo Young Rose (summer nights), 1969 Purple Haze (seductive), Killians LDBS (sexy Creamsicle). That's just what I've tried so far. I haven't even gone into the woods yet! I think Tangerine Boy is worth the money, as long as you moisturize and use a light oil.

I’m quite new to the world of perfumes, so this is hardly an expert opinion, but I love this scent! The fun, youthful, fruity citrus zing off of the opening gives way over time to a more mature warm and slightly sexy spice profile that is simultaneously alluring and comforting. Perhaps marmalade-esque? I find it to be a very good transitional perfume for someone like me (I’m 24) who no longer wants to use the same perfume she used when she was a teenager (Belle Chérie by Fragonard) but also isn’t quite ready to smell “like a grown-up.” It lasts quite a few hours on my skin/clothes and I appreciate the intimacy of the sillage. I currently only have the travel size as the price point is a turn off for me but I plan to purchase the full size once I use up what I have!
