St. Moses the Ethiopian

Phronema is one of the handful of houses that suit me so well that I keep track of new releases and make sure to sample anything that seems up my street. When I saw the notes list for this one, I think I might have purred, “Come to mama!” Orris, myrrh, good quality sandalwood, laudanum, coffee. It was like the perfumer decided to put in everything I love. So I ordered a sample of this along which a bunch of others I haven’t tried yet and this was first out of the bag and onto my skin. And I am not disappointed. This is a glorious myrrh perfume sweetish and with a lovely dirty resin dry down. The butter I don’t really get but the orris butter does give it a waxy richness. The spillage is huge and the longevity is until the next shower but it still seems very natural and unobtrusive. It’s only the beginning of March but I think I might have found my best find of the year already.

Yeah, this is one of the best perfumes I’ve ever smell. It smells nostalgic high-quality inviting. I am 100% going to own a full bottle of this at one point this is a must try note that it does lean a little bit feminine and the opening is very basic, but the dry down is absolutely amazing with the four that I’ve tried with this brand. This is easily the best.

Feminine leaning fruity iris scent, quite nice, rivals a lot of similar niche frags. This and St Joseph the Hesychast were my favorites from the house. Both of them are more feminine than the other woody resinous fragrances in the sampler. I am thrilled to see an Orthodox perfumer. I am hoping he includes some female saints soon.

The blackberry comes across as cherry which is what I get at first spray. I can pick up some resin behind it. Without going into the notes too much this is just a great smelling fruity perfume. Sharp fruit with depth, no shampoo.

Absolute masterpiece. Smells like a blackberry surrounded by iris in a forest. Sligtly feminine but it's just how a blackberry scent smells like. I rate this a 9.4/10, full bottle worthy
