Animal Épicé

Maybe one of my favorites from this house, Animal Épicé is both bold and captivating fragrance and immediately grabs your attention with its intriguing blend of spices. The opening is a pop of black pepper, ginger, and tarragon, warm and inviting, yet with an undeniable and strong edge. As it develops, a subtle sweetness emerges, I think coming from the saffron that within 15 min adds depth and complexity to the composition. Thereafter, the animalic notes of hyraceum and perhaps musk choice are where this fragrance totally takes on a life of its own. This crazy blend weaves and evolves into a primal and heady cloud that is both earthy, a little raucous and yet sensual. This daring accord lingers on the skin, making Animal Épicé a truly unique and unforgettable fragrance. I don't think this one is for perfume "beginners" it's too complex for those looking for linearity or subtleness... this one is for the daring and bold.

Animal Épicé is the epitome of a comforting scent. This feels like talking a walk through the woods; only to stumble upon a log cabin with a roaring fireplace and warm tea already awaiting for your arrival. In the opening, you are surrounded by warm spices. Pepper and ginger prepare you for the entrance of a beautiful tea and tobacco combination that feels like a hug. Gentle woods emerge to ground you and remind you where you are; in the forest. Throughout the entire wearing there is a delicate and soft animalic touch, almost as if a curious creature is watching you in awe from a distance. This is easily one of my favorite fragrances of all time. An under-appreciated gem that brings me endless serenity.

This brand definitely deserves more attention than it receives. For me, Animal Épice is a real standout. The animalic notes play beautifully with a foresty, almost woodland-like quality and comforting spices - it feels very meditative and calming. If you love a bit of animalic depth, you won't be disappointed. And if animalics usually scare you off, give this one a chance anyway - the notes here are tame and elegant, nothing overwhelming.

The top notes for this scent are very spice-forward. The scent’s description here, which mentions black pepper, ginger, and tarragon is very apropos. The top notes are very spicy, but some floral and fruit come through in the heart notes - a lovely transition from the spice. One of my favorite extrait de parfums.

Probably my favorite from the brand or aquelarre, beautiful spicy opening with ginger and black pepper, when it settles it’s spicy with the most sensual soft animalics. Literally sensuality on skin

I expected a very intense and somewhat warm animalic fragrance from this, but I found that this smells so much more like the forest that animal I was thinking of lives in. The fresh-spicy side is absolutely predominant for the first hour or so. The ginger note plays a major role, but at the same time it’s not that easy to identify it as ginger before reading the notes, because everything blends, again, into the cohesive, wild "habitat" mention above. Also, it's not a gourmand-ish ginger, but rather a sparkle of light in the darkness, peeking between the leaves. In the dry down it progressively loses its cold greenness and slowly sets into some slightly warmer and dirtier, earthier territories - which, personally, is the part of the journey I liked best. Wait for it. Seriously. If you are like me, the initial burst and the subsequent top notes, can be off-putting. Not sure if is the ginger or tarragon. Really not sure what. However, this transforms to a very enjoyable experience. Wouldn't reach for it again and again. I think it would be a challenge to wear. Composition is fascinating.

A unique smelling take on a warm and spicy scent with a nice ginger note. It gives me a calming spiritual vibe as well as a sensual effect. It stays quite close to the skin on me but I think it fits its style!
