Aquelarre

Aquelarre is an ode to our repressed spirit. It has an allure which is very unique. The opening is citrus forward, a light welcome, but quickly gets shrouded in a mysterious veil of smoke, and leather. As this perfume heats up, you begin to notice delightful touches of booze, and a prominent custard note. It becomes thick and creamy. The smoke, rose, oud and sweets make this feel like a passionate dance, elegant yet untamed. Concept execution is somewhat abstract. It is interpretable to each nose, this is more of an idea than a place or moment. There are so many subtle components like saffron and rose, that make it a playful, alluring, and bold fragrance. This one is a head scratcher. Wearability is A+, this can be worn any time in the winter, it is s great cozy scent, that will definitely evoke comfort in people around you. This is a great perfume, that does not just revolve around oud, but make it part of the play. A very daring scent profile. Performance is beyond great. This perfume lasted me well over 12 hours, and had a lovely sillage. This perfume is like smoke, it is elegant, and takes over anywhere you are. You will be noticed, and most importantly you will notice it even more. I caught whiffs of this all day, and the following morning. Value is great, it is one of the more expensive from this perfume house, $210/50ml but for good reason. There is a deep complexity that is only unraveled after various wears. You will always come back and find something new. Final Verdict 4.7/5 This is a great fragrance, although the custard takes time to harmonize with other notes during the first few hours of wear. Other than that it is a great balance between mature smoky notes, and sweet, Boozy notes.

Bam better than a hit from Jake Paul! I caught a whiff at Indigo perfumery in Ohio. Diggin' that whiskey and custard mix... I can't help but wonder if the perfumer used and actual aged whiskey base to make this perfume. Never come across a scent like this. On my skin the leather is the primary resident DJ as the base. Personally, I could do without this much leather. The sweetness disappears as well. The custard remains; is the strongest and best custard note I've ever smelled. It's a powerhouse with unique vibes. 💣 One half spray lasts 12 hours and sillage over six ft. I tried getting the sweetness back and topped with Delina and Let the good times roll, this still shines through. I love the animaliic part and smoke too. I think this would be perfect on a mysterious guy. Perhaps a guy who likes Bourbon, smokes and has leather seats. Maybe he'd get laid on them. I'd like to be the one wearing it because it's my vibe. I gotta find a way to overpower this leather with a strong sweetness. Maybe I'll slightly dilute and add whatever tones that down. The leather didn't overdose my nose, on paper it blends... I need that blend to work the same on my skin. Will be back to edit w more progress

Based off the notes, I expected this to be a take on a typical oud and rose combination but this is so much more than that. It rook me a few days to really understand this as it is so finely blended. The consistent profile that I get from this perfume is a smokey leather. The rose in this perfume stays for a few minutes and leaves us with a smell that is similar to that of steam, which I believe is coming from the clary sage and hindanol. There is a light creamy aspect of this perfume which is complimented by the boozy notes. Although there are many notes listed, this has a smell which is more uniform compared to other perfumes. It's hard to pick out exactly what I'm smelling at certain points but that's the beauty of it. The smell of this perfume may be described as a smokey leather, but perfumes like this one will have different reactions from different people. I would recommend sampling this perfume if you like more daring scents, as I got many different types of reactions to this scent. I personally think it is great.

The best I've tried so far from the uniquely bold selection of the brand; this fragrance goes all-in in the sinister-autumnal mood, and I'm here for it. The "overture" is a smoke & booze bomb, it Immediately evokes the thought of sitting in front of a huge bonfire, drinking liquor - and maybe, also something salacious going on, thanks to the animalic and leathery undertones. The sweetness only arrives in the drydown: very close to the skin, underneath of all this darkness, hides something creamy and edible. As funny as it may sound, a weirdly specific scene came to my mind; at 4am, while this whole satanic ritual comes to an end, a bakery on the other side of the road starts turning the ovens on, creating the most paradoxical cross-fade effect. A modern or ancient rave / party in the forested mountains of Northern Spain. This is really the world that Pictura Fragrans' Aquelarre evokes! Aquelarre opens with a rich, intoxicating oud, and a covering layer of Bergamot that slowly fades into splashes of whisky. As the fragrance evolves, a warmer and spicy heart emerges, swirling with notes of tobacco, leather, and smoky incense. To my senses this becomes an extraordinary blur of intensity, maybe even a bit if anything like Orto Parisi's Seminalis, perhaps more intense and yet more approachable. I feel the perfumers vision of this perfume as a reminder to embrace our wild side, and explore the mystery and freedom, of our "untamed spirits".

Aquelarre is the embodiment of resilience in my eyes. This starts off wild; rubbery, smokey, almost overbearing in intensity. I picture the opening as the tribulations one encounters in the journey of life. Then as it calms down, a sweet and airy lemon custard reveals itself. This custard continuously presents itself in quick moments throughout the wearing. I like to think of it as the momentary enjoyment we stumble upon in our daily lives; sweet, yet always fleeting. The scent continues to develop and blend into a beautiful balance between the heavier and the sweeter sides. One that makes itself difficult to be forgotten.

There was an immediate surge of leathery fruit when I first applied this scent. Then it settled into a musky mystery. As the heart notes rose, I smelled smoke and also felt as though I was venturing into an old wine cave, but instead of wine barrels, it was filled with barrels of fruit and whiskey. There is a masculine quality to this scent while also smelling like a cigar that burns in a centuries-old bordello. The base notes gave this extrait de parfum a feeling that you’re deep inside a magical house of burlesque – maybe in the audience or maybe even on stage. This is a seductive new scent by Pictura Fragrans.

This is one of my favorites. It’s very mature in my opinion and it’s kind of hard for me to wear. It smells like a ritualistic campfire but you get a hint of sweetness that just lures you in. This is my favorite out of the bottle and samples I received. 9.7 out of ten!

Insane one, sweet woody dark yet vibrant leathery and sparkly. Spicy woods leather with booze and custard and has this fire sparkle like aroma. Absolutely love it

This fragrance is very intense and complex. Performance is very good with borderline overwhelming projection. On my skin it opens with an immediate blast of leather, whisky, and smoke, but interestingly these notes are far from harsh like they are in many other perfumes. I think they are tempered by the floral and citrus notes that all combine into a hard-to-describe blend. Begins drying down into sweetness and creaminess which create the listed custard note. I don't think I notice much oud or animalics, I think they blend extremely well into the more prominent top and heart notes. Something about the composition comes through a little plasticky or lipsticky on my skin - not sure where that is coming from looking at the notes. Maybe the rose? I've never smelled anything like this before. I don't think this one is to my taste, but it is objectively an impressive fragrance and worth a try if you like boozy, smoky, leathery gourmands but want to smell different than everyone else around you.

I agree with @sharpteethstarlet below. Smoke and booze. Finished with a dessert feel or somewhat of a gourmand. Not sure if that really captures it. It doesn't. Certainly doesn't give it justice. But I am having trouble pinpointing this one. It is a complex fragrance and makes my mind wonder. Scratching at what I am feeling, clawing at what it reminds me of. Evokes memories of a warm summer night visiting family in hot south Texas. Pipes are being smoked along with basic cigarettes. Drinks are being consumed. Laughter fills the air.

On first spray it's smelling like rubber and gasoline. I admit, I wanted to give it a try but I tapped out at about the 20 minute mark, I couldn't stand it anymore and I tried to wash it off with soap and water and then used some alcohol wipes. It's still on me, strong as before. I'll come back and update if it dries down to something beautiful. This is my first try of a Pictura fragrans and I have 4 more to try. Hopefully I enjoy those more

This fragrance is well-composed, with a rich blend of leather, smoke, and woods that many will appreciate. While recognize its quality, it doesn't quite align with my personal preferences. I can see how some might love it, while others may find it less suited to their tastes. That said, I'll give it more time and wear to see how it develops on me.

Complex, intense & animalic, this is very dark, sweet, and boozy. I get mostly rose, smoke, & leather in the opening. Also lasts & projects for ages! I would pick up a full bottle of this. Although, it is kind of hard to wear...

This one gives me a fairy tale vibe. It’s sweet, lactonic and dreamy, it also has booziness and a fur-like smell to it. Nice and unique

This fragrance smells like the song: 'U weren't really here I missed you'. That's the best way I can describe it
