Naju Spring

Naju Spring is a very unique gourmand, and one of the most unique perfumes from this house. The opening is woody, with a bright jasmine, quickly shifting into a green matcha note. As it unfolds, we get a sweet pear note, along with a papery rice, and a very prominent and savory feel, which is the BBQ. As this dries down further, I find the pear and BBQ to be stronger, and comfortably sit over the woods and florals, this is a very atmospheric perfume, and executes it’s concept more than well. Concept execution is beyond good, as mentioned earlier. This perfume has a deep liveliness, due to the castoreum. It gives the warmth, and lifts notes up quite well, it is exactly what a picnic would smell like, this perfume earns its point. Performance is great, and I find the projection to be perfect. This is a very interesting scent, so it does well on the moderate side, a tasteful choice by the perfumer. I found this lasting a bit over 10 hours on my skin, it lasts, but will not fill a room after 4 hours of wear. Wearability is a challenge, I cannot find a specific occasion in which I’d reach for this perfume, this is a perfume for the wearer and nobody else. It is a great conversation starter, and beautiful perfume to wear on adventurous days. It would be great on hikes, days at home, or at a park. This makes you stand out like no other! Value is excellent, for $195/50ml you are getting exactly what you pay for, this is a great work of art, and cannot be compared to anything else, even in the gourmand catergory. Final Verdict: 5/5 This perfume is a piece of art, a lively memory with a unique approach and atmospheric quality. This sits alone as the most unique perfume in my collection, before buying a bottle, I recommend sampling, this is a perfume lover’s dream, but not for a casual nose! Happy sniffing.

Where do I begin with Naju... My first time wearing it all I could remember was a very sweet Korean BBQ smell. I didn’t want anything to do with it for a week or two afterwards. Then I got curious and decided to revisit it. Wow am I glad I did. The opening is intense. There is a lot to unpack and it can get overwhelming. Lots of BBQ in the beginning-but not your typical BBQ. This is not a savory barbecue like some scents. This is a sweet barbecue, like teriyaki. This can be a little strange at first. The drydown is where the magic happens. Suddenly, the barbecue begins to fade, and a beautiful sweet pear ice cream comes out. It’s slightly lactonic but incredibly light. A very green and slightly earthy matcha comes in to cut down the sweetness. While you're still deciphering what you're smelling, a starchy (almost powdery) rice note begins to form. The rice lays a soft foundation for beautiful white florals and hinoki wood to finish everything off. This has easily become one of my favorite fragrances from the house and definitely my favorite Springtime scent.

Naju is apparently really a magical place, and this fragrance captures its springtime essence in a bottle. Imagine strolling through ancient forests, enjoying a picnic on pagoda steps, with the aroma of blooming jasmine and the warmth of sunlight on your skin. This perfume transports you there, opening with a burst of refreshing matcha tea and sweet pear ice cream, balanced by a hint of ginger and almond. It really is accurate based on their notes... As it evolves, the fragrance reveals deeper and I get big notes of toasted rice, and hinoki wood, intertwined with a hint of smoky tobacco. It settles into a comforting base of creamy sandalwood, the a subtle animalic note of castoreum.

A combination of tropical fruit trees with a lingering mystical sharpness lifts this fragrance into my nostrils. The floral and tropical top notes are very strong on this one. It makes me feel like I’m wandering through a garden of flowers in Sri Lanka or the Yucatan. A lot of citrus-like grapefruit comes through in the heart notes and the scent trails off quickly before the base notes become prominent.

Pictura Fragrans provides sublime artistry in perfumery. I am not saying each one is safe for office wear. Not at all. But each one provides an experience. Out of the few I have tested, Naju Spring seems to be the most wearable. Although, I have many others I have yet to experience. This is a lush journey. This is something I want to experience in person. A bucket list trip. THIS WILL AWAKEN YOUR SENSES.

This fragrance makes me genuinely upset from how horrible it is, I don't normally make reviews but I have to with this fragrance. Out of all the fragrances I've tried this fragrance and the rest of the ones made by pictura are the worst I've tried in my life. I made multiple people try these and they all had the same opinion if not worse. they have amazing longevity and sillage UNFORTUNATELY. The scent stayed in my trash can for WEEKS. It was pulverizing.

Dry genmaicha backed by cream, woods & smoke. Only a touch of sweetness, very interesting & pleasant tea scent. Despite not sharing many notes, the opening has a similar feel to Wonder Bouquet by Mugler or perhaps a more bitter take on MM's Matcha Meditation. Dispite how much I love the opening, unfortunately something in this comes off really weird in the drydown though, almost like the smell of nailpolish.

One of my favorite from this house, it reminds me of my friends house from Laos & Thailand. My friends house smells like sticky rice and sweet coconut candy that they make so this one is a bit similar it smells like a clean sweet sticky rice
