Van Gogh’s Irises

Sitting in my art class, charcoal smudged on my fingers, I catch a whiff of something intoxicating. It's my perfume, "Van Gogh's Irises," inspired by the vibrant spirit of the artist himself and his amazing paintings of irises. The initial burst of citrus and lavender is like a breath of fresh air, a reminder of the vibrant colors I'm trying to capture on my canvas. As I continue to work on my sketch, the elegant, powdery iris notes emerge, mingling with the faint scent of my charcoal and paint. It's a beautiful contrast, the delicate but heady floral scent against the raw, earthy smell of my art supplies. Notes of amber, vanilla, and spice create a warm, comforting aura around me, like a hug from a loved one. I close my eyes for a moment, inhaling deeply. The fragrance evokes images of Van Gogh's iris paintings – bold brushstrokes, vibrant colors, a sense of untamed beauty. It reminds me to embrace my own creativity, to let go of fear and self-doubt, and simply express myself through my art. When I open my eyes, I feel a renewed sense of inspiration. My hand moves more confidently across the paper, the lines flow effortlessly. The scent of "Van Gogh's Irises" now lingers in the air, a strong reminder of the passion and resilience that lies within me. This stunning perfume has become my muse, a confidante, and source of artistic inspiration. I can hardly believe I found a fragrant embodiment of the beauty and resilience that Van Gogh found in his irises, it's simply stunning.

Original and interesting take on the "dirty iris/violet" trope (which I'm always a big fan of). It does immediately smell powdery like you would expect it to, but in an unusually "dense", "rounded" way that's not at all easy to describe. If this perfume had a solid consistency that could be touched, it would feel like a paste - coincidentally (or not?), just like the very oil paint Van Gogh himself, in fact, used; if this is intentional and the actual reason behind the name, the vision has been masterfully executed. So far the most elegant offer from the brand among the ones I've tried, although it’s not a "shiny", light, or sparkly idea of elegance. Above the notes there’s a sort of ceiling of dullness that make the fragrance odder and more comforting at the same time. (@sharpteethstarlet on TT for more reviews 🌝)

Immediate smell is that of shoving your face into a floral bouquet. You get the flower as well as the cut green stem. This impression fades somewhat quickly and the green gives way to a clean and slightly powdery heart. There's a little spice and herbaceousness but it doesn't stray from its identity. This is far from a powder bomb imo and is well-balanced. Maybe I'm being influenced by the perfumer's description, but there is something melancholic about this scent. It's equal parts adventurous and restrained, hopeful and sad. It reminds me of the flowers you bring to someone dying in a hospital. Unlike any other "floral" fragrance I've tried. Probably going to grab a bottle at some point.

Violet pours out in the top notes with this scent. It’s like running through a marvelous garden filled with purple blossoms. A very self-reflective fragrance, which is evident in the Pictura Fragrans description – written as a letter from Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo. The heart notes appear with soft, warm, and buttery amber - as if the roots of the gardens are emerging through the flower petals. A marvelously distinct and unique scent.

This fragrance is absolutely beautiful its the most creamy lavender i've ever put my nose to and exactly what i've been looking for. It projects enormously for a good 2-3 hours and keeps good projection for 4-5 hours after longevity is longer than 12+ hours im sure after more time ill only enjoy it more

Very floral, with iris dominating. It's ambery in the dry down but also smells very clean and fresh. I absolutely love it, it contains most of my favorite notes/accords.

This is not your typical powdery iris fragrance. This seemingly transports you into the wild. You don't get just the sought after parts of the Iris prized for perfumery. You get the entire world the Iris comes from. Outstanding performance. A little challenge to wear, but it is wearable. Truly a piece of art.

For me, not powdery at all. I get the iris but yes with a buttery texture, supported by lavender, turmeric and bay leaf, overall very herbal and perfectly unisex. To me, turmeric fragrances though appealing in concept, end up smelling "sallow." Do not find this like any Francesca, the silage and wear are much lighter too.

i really wanted to like this but it just smells like an old lady going to church (in a bad way). do not the oud. it's irises. why oud.

It’s a bit harsh with spice leaves and quite dry. I think the wood and castoreum also add to the sharpness.

Like walking into the nurse supply closet in elementary school, in the worst way. Papery stale, medicinal smell from the bay leaf to the cardamom. This was honestly an assault on the nose. I will admit that I was lured in by a beautiful bottle. All style, and no substance. Side note, not specifically about the fragrance: Unfortunately after buying the bottle, while eagerly awaiting it's arrival, I took a look at the Instagram account for Pictura Fragrans (painting of plowers...) and all of their art is generated ai slop. All of the website art is too. For a brand that claims to celebrate the painting of flowers, they're unable to actually hire artists. The fragrance reflects that lack of commitment to creating artwork as well. It's as if they let an LLM create it all. The bottle is still beautiful though so once I use the current contents to deter raccoons from using my garden for a latrine, I'll have that.

I cannot stand this. It's an overwhelming, unpleasant sanitizer smell, like when you scrub your hands too hard and they get all dry and cracked. It really is ridiculously soapy. You smell very clean—but a bad type of clean, like you were too dirty beforehand. It recalls memories of running into highway-side bathrooms and having to pee too badly to care that the floors are disgustingly sticky.

This perfume is a beautifully balanced fragrance that combines freshness, warmth, and a touch of sweetness, all wrapped in a luxurious, enduring base. Very long-lasting and ideal for anyone seeking a versatile and sophisticated fragrance.

Juicy freshly cut citrus over cosmetic powder violet & a touch of iris butter. Very nice, but considering the name I expected more iris. Imo has a very similar feel to Acne Studios by Frederic Malle, although perhaps a bit less "bright".
