Centaure Cuir Casaque

A complex, leathery fougere. The fougere accord lasts a long time but is never dominant. The leather is obvious but it too doesn't try to dominate. Spice and floral notes are less obvious and it's just a touch sweet. Overall, well done and natural smelling, but I think I prefer Devin for this kind of idea. Centaure is a bit too "by the book," though natural smelling and with no flaws. The sandalwood eventually emerges but it doesn't provide any "wow factor" either. If you have Montana Parfum d'Homme and like it, I doubt this one is necessary, unless you want a tamer version of it. Note that this is not an aquatic (though there could be a little ambergris type of thing in the base) and the sandalwood note is really good ! UPDATE: Orange isn't listed (nor any citrus) but there is a kind of non-sweet orange juice over dry wood quality to this one, especially once the lavender settles down, though nothing in the scent is overpowering. If you hate lavender just give it several minutes to dissipate. Overall, it is very nicely blended and the ingredient quality seems quite good. Also, it's not an "80s power" scent, and would be good for the office, school, or formal occasions, especially for people who like those old scents but don't want to offend those with tender olfactory sensibilities. UPDATE #2: Another wearing and the dry cedar and sandalwood really dominates everything, making this one a contender in that category, even if put up against niche scents (once the top notes dissipate). After several hours the styrax is most obvious and it's highly blended at that point.

Leather. Starts with some citrus, but the leather is dominant. Moves into middle and base notes quite early, which are pre-dominantly leather (at least to my nose). The projection and longevity are above average, with at least 6 hours on me. Although I did not subscribe to the concept of "manly/ masculine" fragrances uptil now, this perfume has made me change my mind. The leathery smell is something one can associate only with a man. An excellent buy, for the asking price. Does anyone else see the similarity with Azzaro PH?

Pierre Cardin really did make the most beautifully crafted, high-quality scents. (Sigh)
