Animal Mondain

Just arrived! Beautiful natural tobacco ala PDM Herod, TF TV, Chergui et al... Gorgeous refreshing opening slightly dusty green herbaceaous slight mint like feel which is the pear leaf (bodied out by slightly damp hay) changes over 10 - 45 minutes where in the dry pipe tobacco asserts itself with a dry waxy honey (rather than syrupy) in equal parts moving everything else to the back ground. At this point it reminds me of 18.21 Sweet Tobacco though this is retains just enough green with a reduced sweetness and less syrupy honey which keeps this surprisingly fresh and natural ala Miller Harris Feuilles De Tabac and great as a hot weather or summer tobacco scent. Happy blind purchase however whilst not poor in performance this so far performs on the mid to lower scale in longevity and Sillage on the usual offerings from PG. I have had to spray a dozen times to get a get smell... Adam_Forziatis comment ‘Chergui eat your heart out’ sums it up succinctly...

Sort of reminds me of Kilian Gold Knight which is a great fragrance, but to me this one is more about tobacco and the Kilian is more about anise. What makes this interesting, is the tobacco here is unique and has the nuances of Turkish gold, which is a blonde cigarette tobacco not common in perfumerey. Aside from that, the honey is present (like in gold knight) along with some nicely and moderately done spices. Worth mentioning that this is hardly "animalic" at all. It should be fine for most people unless you're a real sensitive wet noodle. Kohrs is much smokier than this formula and the tobacco here is dry leaf. It's not a honey bomb like vintage Kilian back to black, and B2B also has cherry tobacco. Overall this is a great fragrance with a unique tobacco note that keeps me coming back for more. ----------------------------------------------------- Scent 93/100 Performance 60/100

Just an unimaginably good fragrance. What a precision of combining pear with tobacco. Sometimes I hate pears, but sometimes I love them. Here it is juicy, fragrant but not sweet with girlish naive sweetness. The sweetness belongs to the honey and is completely independent of the fruit. How this perfumer made such a masterpiece? How did he combine all the other ingredients, maybe sprinkled them with tiny blades of hay grass, which are also easy to smell here? This hay coumarin is so damn relaxing and makes you think of a holiday in the countryside. I must say once again, a real piece of art, and gargantuan in its dimension.

Definitely rings Kilian. Somwhere between Back to Black and Intoxicated ,but it also reminds me of Angel Muse from Mugler. Cozy ,comforting ,close space safe and beautiful.

PG's attempt at capturing the atmosphere of the 30s. I'm sure he has his reasons. Regardless, this is an underrated gem. From PG website: 'Pear Tree Leaves, Turkish Tobacco Absolute, Mahogany Wood' So, you can see there is no mention of honey or hay. Those notes are part of Chergui, but other than a superficial connection between the two, that's where the comparison ends. There is a sweet aspect to Animal Mondain, but I think that is an aspect of the tobacco note. Opening is tobacco and something resembling licorice, followed by tobacco and wood. Both stages are wonderful. Also fromt the PG website: 'Between the spicy ardor of Cozé and the balmy and liquorish opulence of Liqueur Charnelle, Animal Mondain interposes itself as a new Tobacco in my production. Stripped of all artifice, it is a gender free olfactory creation inspired by the modernist architecture of a Mallet-Stevens smoking room.' Performance is better than initially thought (about 6 hours) with decent enough sillage, but wish it were more.

Super animalic, beastly. This is fantastic but it doesn't project as much as I would like. Further test needed but it's wonderfully composed. Ok, now that it's warmed up on me...this smells like an old world male wytch, like a forest wizard that practices black magick using rotten animals and other poisonous roots and herbs. A little hint of Hexensalbe in it but much more masculine inclined. I like it! If you want a really earthy, raw, bit brutal animalic this is your jam. Well done.

Chergui without the funk. It's... polite.

PG Animal Mondain—hay and tobacco opening, very aromatic. Settles down quickly to less fresh and more nuanced. I’m afraid the longevity is not good... In less than an hour it became very non-descript skin scent.

Review Foundation: Have a tester, live in a high humidity country, tried because it was a free tester included in an order. // Thoughts: the opening for me is clean and green. It does go to a clean, spice, very slight tobacco with honey. It smelled rather generic on me, though. Like inside a department store, which is absolutely fine. It’s pleasant and inoffensive. // End Opinion: I didn’t get any of the hay, had I done so I think maybe my experience would be different. It did not strike me as unisex at all, and as an older woman I really enjoy some very masculine unisex scents. In my mind I see a confident young man (20s-30s) wearing this. It also gave me the most horrible headache so eventually I had to scrub it off.

There is something off-putting for me. I see it is reviewed well here and online but I would recommend to sample before buying this as I did blind buy and regret that. In fact, I would even let it go if someone wants to trade me a frag? Just message me. It has massive potential, very unique and hints of other classics but I think it is the hay and pear notes combined that I just can't get over. Ironically, if you remove that note it would smell more commercial and mass appealing and then may lose as many fans as it picks up. Quality is there, dry down is decent and certainly better for the cold weather.

انیمال موندا به معنی حیوان دنیوی . این چندمین تست من از برند پیر گیوم هست . و ماحصل کلی شناخت من از این برند با این چند تست اینه که این برند خیلی خیلی خوبه . انیمال موندا در شروع کل سیستم بویایی رو فلج می‌کنه ی اتک شدید از بوی رازیانه . سبز . تند و تلخ چند لحظه بهش فرصت باید داد . تا تصویر ی گیلاس کوکتل میوه ای با سیروپ عسل تو ذهن تداعی بشه . کل رایحه عطر روی نت عسل استواره . بینهایت خوشبو و زیبا بلند شده این عطر . من هروقت نت عسل میبینم بیاد عطر مزخرف بی از زولوژویست می افتم . انیمال موندا رایحه عسل بسیار زیبایی داره . که با آکورد اسپایسی معطر شده و با بوی پوست سیب سبز و گلابی میوه ای و با تنباکو و کاه و پچولی حالت هربال و چوبی . انیمال موندا کاملا عسل محوره با حالتی بوزی ( مشروبی) . درای داون عطر به پچولی اشاره نشده ولی واضحا احساس میشه . جوری که ی آکورد هربال و پودری و سبز با بوی عسلی بخودش میگیره . این قسمت عطر منو بیاد ادکلن بلک ایکس اس پاکورابان میندازه . انیمال موندا حسی نامتعارف داره ولی اگزوتیک نیست . خاصه ولی کاملا وربله . درضمن این عطر انیمالیک معرفی شده چون نت عسل تو چارت نت های انیمالیک تعریف میشه . ولی چرک و کثیف با تعریف مثل سیویک و هیراکس نیست . کیفیت عطر و بلندینگ شاهکاره . پرفورمنس خیلی خوبی هم داره و راحت ۳-۴ ساعت روی پوست احساس میشه .

I'm test wearing of a .7ml sample so I'll need to further evaluate Animal Mondaine. What I can smell is nice. Pretty much the notes as listed on this page manifest. It came to my attention as being similar to one of my favorites - the discontinued Michael for Men by Michael Kors. Based on the notes and accords, I was thinking it might be closer to Serge Lutens Chergui, with its tobacco and hay notes. It's been a while since I've given Cherguia wear, but I sprayed it on blotter to refresh my memory. It's not nearly as sweet as Animal Mondaine. Although there is some overlap with the Michael Kors, the fruity accord with the dried fruits and plum, and suede note really differentiates Michael for Men. Plus Michael for Men by Michael Kors has better performance. If you haven't tried Michael for Men I highly recommend it. Xerjoff Naxos isn't that great a comparison either, given its amped up lavender and near-cloying sweetness. But this Animal Mondaine seems pretty good and is worth further exploration.

not sure what is happening here...based on the mentions of big and rich tobacco frags I expected a blast but it is not what happened. Also it is much lighter and ethereal than expected. PG knows his way around tobacco which we have seen in his other scents, however, I do not know how I feel about this one. It is as though this one has two conflicting paralel stories going on at the same time, sorry, a bit schizophrenic. The hay drydown is decent, but still. (Review based on a sample from Aus Liebe Z. it is a sexy musky scent. I hate testing samples that don't have a sprayer, but its potential full bottle worthy... In fact, it is bottle worthy! I don't really get tobacco, but it's a really a musky pear doing it's thang being freaky unda the sheets Update: this fragrance is criminally underrated. The times I've worn it never short changed me in any way. I believe it's the honey, hay and pear giving it that sexy animalic vibe. 10 for me

It’s an art deco creation that is woven from classic and modern ingredients. A charming portrayal based on its traditional backbone where a green, hay-like and juicy start merges with honeyed tobacco as main note and then settles down in woody musky base. That was a surprising ending which I found to be so sexy, because of an amazing semi-animalic musk in the base. I only wish it were a little less timid.

This is mix of Lapidus pour homme and Prin Nocturnal Poetry. But I would rather wear one of those frags than Animal Mondian Very wearable and sophisticated but too weak on my skin

Beautiful opening. Ends up as a clean spicy woody clean musk and slight animalic. I really like it.
