Bois Naufrage 16.1

The only thing I'm positive about with this scent is that I love it. I cannot stop sniffing my wrist. It's warm and comforting and sunny, like laying on a hidden, driftwood covered beach while wearing a scent with ambergris. Intoxicating and comforting at the same time. However, I cannot decide if this smells more masculine or feminine. I go back and forth a bit, but the more I wear it the more I feel it just begins to suit the wearer, no matter the gender. I add a feminine touch to this scent, but I would eat it up on a man. Longevity and sillage are moderate.

So, this achieves something I've not encountered in a fig fragrance before - - it manages to be warm, sultry, powdery, sexy, musky and cozy whilst also being a fig scent, all at once! Usually they are bright and crisp, but not so here. There's a gently sweet spiciness to this that makes it fitting for year-round use. If you're usually wary of marine fragrances, there is no calone note here - - perhaps there is a hint of the driftwood you might encounter in something like Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Really nice and so well blended.

I just ordered a full bottle of this after falling in love with my sample; it'll be my second PG, and while as with Indochine I wish this had more sillage, it's too gorgeous for me to pass up. It's plenty feminine on me but I can feel woody notes lurking that would probably make it gorgeous on a man. On me the rich cocoa-fig notes come to the front, with wood and salt lurking in the backround; it's both rich and light, and will be lovely for warmer weather.

This is the truest 'sand/sun/beach' in a bottle. And when I say the truest, I don't mean 'coppertone', I don't mean coconuts and tiare, I don't mean orange blossoms and sea water. Not a dollop of fantasy-sweetness here. Afternoon sun, there are fig trees in the wind, hot sand rubbing against your skin. Meditarranean air in a bottle, with soft sillage. Delicious.

Wonderful woody salty interpretation of fig. PS! Fragrantica! There should be carob tree among the notes, not fig tree. Carob tree is called Egyptian Fig, but it's not a fig, it's totally another plant and you even have it already in your notes' register ;-).

The scent opens with a fig leaf-like scent. It weakens after a while and makes place to a woody, almost vetivery notes. Remains all the time close to your skin.

I find this uplifting. Starts off with a strong fruity, creamy green fig, nowhere near as potent as the one in Le Labo Thé Noir 29 (2015). I get a bit of pear similar to Ciel d'Airain (2010) also from Pierre Guillaume (albeit his Black Collection); the two fragrances could be distant cousins in terms of DNA. There's a dominant sea salt note that runs through it. As a comparison Squid (2019) by Zoologist has one, but it is overpowered by the pepper. Squid does the salty seawater theme better, but it's nearly twice the price given the 60ml bottle size. Drydown is dry green vetiver and a synthetic ambergris base which is musty and compliments the salty theme. This isn't a sweet fragrance in anyway, it's also not an Aqua or an Ozonic fragrance despite the sea salt notes. This is a totally unisex fragrance, possibly verging towards the masculine side due to the vetiver. Price in the UK is around £138 for 100ml which is OK for a niche fragrance. Sillage was moderate. Lasts around 7 hours on my skin which is good. Scores a respectable 7 out of 10 for creativity and using quality ingredients. 1ml sample

On the opening the vetiver is very evident but it doesnt really hang around. A unisex fig and leafy fragrance. Very green. I do get the salt and ambergris which hang on to the end. It's not very sweet either. It does transport you to the sunny Med sitting in the cool beneath a shady fig tree. Very pleasant and lovely to wear on a warm day. Good sillage and moderate longevity.

This is FIG. Fig leaf, not fruit. A hint of salty but I wouldn't call this a marine scent. It has that sharp biting fig note but is airy. In the drydown the ambergris presents and there is a definite vanilla note.

To me this is a figgy, green version of le musc et la peau. Very nice. Totally unisex.

Wow, I love this! I got to try my friend's bottle and I immediately bought my own. I would have never picked this myself based on the notes. Though the notes don't scream summer, this does really smell like summer to me! But think summer in France and not tropical beach in Jamaica. It's definitely unisex in my opinion, though I'm not sure I could get my husband to wear it (he wears only GIT, but I will try!). I'm sure it's gorgeous on a man in summer! You have to like unisex scents as a woman to like this, but there is an obvious fig aspect to it, which makes it very wearable for a woman. It has this acquatic quality in the opening which will make it shine in warm weather I think. I don't find it smells like Philosykos (not as green) or figue amère (not as bitter). I have the feeling every fig perfume has just been listed... This is a new firm favorite!

If you've never been near a carob tree they're sometimes called "cum trees" because the flowers smell quite like semen. This comes through for me in Bois Naufrage along with the salt and ambergris. Carob pods are also used to make fake "healthy" chocolate, which may be why some are detecting cocoa. I'm not sure where other people are picking up true fig but good for them, I'm jealous. It's not unpleasant, definitely unisex and quite wearable but unremarkable. A woody, amber scent with a hint of semen. A low key Sécrétions Magnifiques that people actually want to wear.

In 2017 Bois Naufrage is back as PG16.1 in exactly the same formulation. Inspired by a Lucien Clergue photograph entitled Naked in Driftwood, Bois Naufrage is a tender salty amber. Pierre yet again experiments with an exotic material: Egyptian fig (carob), mixing it with sea salt, vetiver and synthetic ambergris creating a warm musky woody perfume. Bois Naufrage is French for driftwood so the all the woody notes in the formula are intentionally given washed, salty and very smooth feel.

Wow. Almost all scents with a prominent salt note immediately turn sour on me and I can't wear them. This, however, does not! Maybe I wouldn't be so in love with this if I had the full range of beachy, salty scents available to me, but I am def going to get a fb for summer. Anyone else who skin chemistry had a weird problem with salty/aquatic notes, this one is a winner.

An unconventional take on fig (a theme by now very well explored in perfumery), 16.1 is more of an attempt to create a salty breeze effect with ambergris, exotic Carob (people say it smells salty, like semen), salt, vetiver. The fig note is adding an indistinct fruity green shade which could be sea weed drying on the beach or aromas of a distant orchard or both.

To me Bois Naufragé smells very very simple, slightly creamy fig that dries down to clean musk. Everything done in a very "pull back" manner. I'm a fan of PG but I do not really like this one. It feels overly simplistic and unfinished. It lacks the wow factor and uniqueness I find in many other PG creations.

Pretty much the same as teddito, it is more masculine, a woody amber, nice balance of sharpness and plump abmer orientalness, I got the salty note too for only a short minute at the start. It was interesting until the salty note disappeared. Giving my sample to my hubby.

To me it is more on the masculine side.Starts a little bit sharp, but quickly settles down to a pleasnt woody-amber scent.I do not feel the salty note, and as a whole I do not find this fragrance much interesting and different, despite the unusual notes listed.

It opens like smell of crashed fig leaves or thick, green foliage on branches. This is woody-fig fragrance. It reminds me a lot of Premier Figuier L`Artisan, but I like Bois Naufrage better So, if you are into fig fragrances, please give this a try!
