Entre Ciel et Mer

It is a sweet and salty pear, and also reminds me of the laundry detergent. This smell is clean, gentle and aquatic, but not a real sea for me. This smell can bring me back to those summer sailing days. It turns into a breeze, coming from where the sea meets the sky, that gently passes me by when I look far away on board. Love it!

This is good!! Reminds me of Cool Water Davidoff a touch, but less floral. Impressed with this salty sea aquatic smell! On me smells beautiful,I bet in summer this would stand out. I like it a lot!!!

I sort of think I need to step in and defend this one a little bit. While this is not the heights of the perfume industry, I would not go as far and say it is nasty. Entre Ciel et Mer is a very airy scent. It smells like sea water- slightly salty, with a bit of herbs and woods in the background. It is a very simple scent, that I think is more about the ambience than creating an impression. I remember ages ago we were discussing on this very forum the most natural scents- and this one would be right there on the top of the list. In his interview Guillaume explained what he wanted to achieve- a scent of a place, and if you look at it from this perspective, I think the scent of pretty successful. I am wearing it now the heatwave approaches and it is never too much, you can't really over-apply and it brings a little bit of seaside to the centre of a big metropoly.

Need to update my initial review, previously I had smelled a very odd, sour b.o.-type odor 30 mins after application of a small sample. I have since tried it again and it smells much cleaner, super watery, salty, and even beachy...weird. I actually don't mind it now. Still relegated only to summer, I wouldn't dream of wearing this in the winter. This would make a nice summer beach day scent to wear; it is salty to me and very "warm". It's a definite unisex scent. Unlike lots of "beach" perfumes, this one doesn't smell like suntan lotion or coconut. It is a tad cloying after a while, though, so this might give the sensitive types a headache. Both longevity and sillage were STRONG.

Never expected this one to grow on me, but it's becoming a very strong like. What fascinates me about this, is that it is a Chypre composition with a twist. In effect, ambergris is used in conjunction with cedarmoss. And would you believe it, ambergris that stays fresh and doesn't turn sour. Kudos! Not the best performance (about 5 hours), but it's 5 hours of freshness-by-the-seaside style. Opening is particularly beautiful for me, it really reminds me of being by the beach, with the subtle addition of pear and thyme. Later on, this morphs into lavender and thyme. Underrated.

A soft whisper of cool air, warm woods, and ancient, algae filled salt water. An intimate, modern, and slightly dirty aquatic that's subtle and great for wear during the summer. The salt and woods begin to fade as the scent dries down with the scent becoming floral.

Smells like suncream unfortunately. Furthermore, doesn't seems to have great projection.

100% Window cleaner, couldn't wait to scrub it off. Of five I've tried so far from my 90 samples, three have been scrubbers, this doesn't bode well.

I have got it for half a year, I put my nose on it last summer and it was very impressive at the first sniff, I sprayed it on my wrist and kept smelling it for several hours. I agree it's not long-lasting, but it certainly gives me a nice beachy vibe. It's not very fruity nor herbal on me, I smell the beach and the sea water. I love it. Maybe it has some similarities to Cool Water, I seriously can't figure it out, because I had it in 2000. Just the same group of perfumes or the same family, but features are very different. It isn't really the best during spring or winter, but during summer heat near the water it performs great.

Caraibic blue waters? Is it true that Pierre Guillaume recreated in here the smell where sky and sea meet? This is a beautiful rendition of a pear note without its fruity aspect for a wet yet not salty effect that benefits greatly the acquatic nature of the composition. I think I can pick up water-lily which isn't listed and a smooth sandalwood, sweeter and more rounded compared to Santalum Album. If you like the appeal of water notes without any calone, or iodized profile for a rather "blue bath" effect you will love this.

First on, it’s tart sweet sweet pea; I think it’s the pear and lavender giving it a fruited floral smell. It stays very pear-dominent but the thyme cuts the sweet a little while not being recognizable. Not sure how this conveys sea or earth. It’s a freshish fruity floral with herbal notes. Nice but nothing I’ll buy. I was hoping for a more literal sea and earth experience. That being said, it's pretty and easy to wear.

I was at first very surprised to smell pear and lavender, which quickly gave way to what I thought was kelp. The slightly rotting smell of seaweed, baking in the sun. I can only assume this to be the algae, but as it dries I'm also reminded of freshly cut grass. Everything is suitably caked in sea salt. I enjoy this or what it is, a watercolour sketch of a place and time. I don't find it very wearable socially.

Cheap and nasty grass scent crossed with a slight white musk and the brine of the others in the line. There’s so little to be said about this scent (and the whole line, really). Smells like a drug store product to me which, if it weren’t for the price tag, might hold some breezy charm. Atrocious.
