Le Musc & La Peau 4.1

Some days one doesn’t want to smell like perfume. Some days one doesn’t want to smell like bergamot, or vanilla, or tobacco, or some flowers, or leather, or a mixture of any of those, or really strongly much of anything at all. Some days one just wants to smell like a human body — perhaps like sexy skin magnified. That’s Le Musc & La Peau for me. It’s a white musk (and supposedly combines seven kinds of musk) that is just creamy and soft. Like coming out of a shower. Or putting on a clean white linen shirt. For me, on the right days, or to just be unadulteratedly musky and, as such, sexy, this is a darned good choice. A note on comparing it Le Labo Another 13, which may help explain Le Musc & La Peau better, since they are often spoken of as similar. I have both and both are mainstays, but I find them different. While both are unabashedly skin scents, Another 13 is more forceful, is more affirmatively of a scent with its peach and apple - in fact, at first it almost smells floral to me, although that dies down to more of a metallic or dirty musk. Another 13 has more a defined character as a perfume. Le Musc & La Peau is closer to simply musk, ambroxen and aldehyde — cleaner, simpler and more skin like. Very faintly underneath you can get an underlying whiff of the rosemary, cedar or tonka that it has but they are quiet and subtle. Altogether it’s quieter than (at least on me) than Another 13. More subtle, more of a fresh shower than - as with Another 13 — Iso-E over a slight white fruit dirtier sexiness. Another way to think of Le Musc & La Peau is to compare it to Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade — They stand at opposite extremes: if 1740 is raw animal sexuality, Le Musc & La Peau is quiet sensual intimacy. The sillage on this is low but the longevity is not bad: at least 4-5 hours or so. But altogether quiet and most certainly not a monster scent in any way. Finally, this is a fine base for any number of perfumes. It add a quiet musky undertone that is almost imperceptible but it is there. I prefer it to Molecule 01 or 02 for that purpose.

PG's site says this contains "a blend of 7 different musks" as well as the ingredients shown here. Well whatever those all are, this is pure magic on my skin! (I bought DHIguy's bottle, hah). I get an opening not dissimilar to the milky herbal + creamy gentle sandalwood of Tam Dao. Cypress? Myrtle? Rosemary..? Not sure what this cool, wet green tone is here, but mixed with the milkiness and muskiness it's a fascinating display. (It reminded me a bit of Profumum's Ichnusa too, which has a delicious milky herbal myrtle note with fig leaf.) Rather than going powdery or aldehydic (soapy) on me, it begins to bloom into more of a white and amber-musk mix after an hour or so. (I get almost no powder or aldehydes other than the sparkly fresh air kind of aldehydes. No soap here on my skin.) Ambroxan became apparent as it's well-known feather-like texture and almost clean laundry sort of scent blended with the white musk and richer brown musks, lifting it off my skin in a beautiful performance (3.5 hrs in now). I took a walk on the beach after 3 spritzes after receiving it and the wafts were amazing and noticeable. Instalove for me! Must be a chemistry thing, as I do have good vibes with ambroxan, musks, and PG perfumes as a broad generalization. Received 2 compliments on it right away, too. Mmm...

I got the sample while buying Sunsuality from this brand. At first I tested it in a paper and it smelled soapy, I didnt like it. The shop assistant gave me a sample and told me to test it on my skin because it mxes with the skin chemistry etc. At that time I wasnt really into musky clean scents (im an amber pachouly girl etc), so I decided to put it after my night shower and skin care routine just to feel boujie at home. That was a terrible mistake because I relized how GORGEOUS it is. It smells kinda milky, I know there are no milk notes but to me it has a cold milky non-sweet vibe. It smells fresh and expensive and deep, its full of layers I cant describe. I cant believe a soapy frag could smell that differently on the skin. I had similar experience with Sunsuality too, I think Pierre Guillaume frags need special place and occasion to fully develop and grow on me. I also layer it with Sunsuality and its a gorgeous mix, they really go well together. Its on my purchase list and I think Ill get the 100ml bottle. I think it might be a good base for other frags too. I love it.

Very sensual musk. Definitely fits into the category 'your skin but better' and the name of the perfume is spot on as it truly feels like skin scent. Musk here is not harsh or too loud but soft, sensual and truly feels like a natural skin odore. Sandalwood gives it this typical creamyness but it is not so prominent that woody notes would seem dominant it is quite calm and just adds to this skin-like effect. This is actuall very very great perfume, one of the best from this brand. As soon asn I tried it I knew I was going to love it. It stays on skin for quite some time so the longevity is great, does not have a sreaming sillage. Intimate, warm, sensual.... very, very beautiful perfume. A must try if you are looking for a creamy skin-like scent.

First Impression: clean skin with touches of aldehydes, sandalwood, and of course musk. If I really concentrate I can pick up a tiny amount of vanilla.This is damn good. Reminds me slightly of Acca Kappa Muscio Bianco but without the awful windex vibe and sharp lemon. It's really nice if you're looking for a "clean skin" scent but you might have to train your nose to smell it. After further testing, I found the sweet spot with 8-12 sprays for projection. Longevity on my clothes is about 24 hours still faintly detectable. I've tried a lot of white musks, and this is becoming a favorite. Scent 9.4/10 Performance 6.4/10

It’s been 24 hours now. One gym session and two showers later this is still going. I applied two drops from a sample vial for reference. If you’re experiencing longevity issues then you’re probably one of those people who have a hard time detecting musks. As far as projection, this wasn’t meant to be monstrous. However, I’m still getting distinct wafts from my wrist a day later and 2-3 feet away from my nose. It’s a beautiful scent. I sometimes have a hard time with musk-centric scents à la Nishane Muskane. This, however, is a soothing, soft and airy musk with the slightest hint of sweetness. Really pleasant stuff.

I love this perfume!!! So cozy, comfortable, sensual and soft. It smells like a puppy’s belly! 😍 It’s very comfortable to wear and people don’t get offended by it whatsoever. Most people don’t understand I’m wearing a perfume at all. They can smell something but they don’t understand it’s a perfume. When I want to make it stronger I add something sweet like BR540 (a majorly overhyped perfume) or Hob1 by Khaltat. I know I said it’s like puppy’s belly but... if you spray it a bit on your naked body after your evening shower, it could be used as an aphrodisiac 😜

Mmm. I like LM& LP all by itself as a clean, casual and laid back skin scent (but more.) It's slightly soapy, slightly musky but with dimension and depth. I also used it as a base for one of my new loves Imaginary Author's, Fox in the Flowerbed, which sorely needs a sillage boost and better base longevity. Boom! It enhanced and improved FitFB by at least 60% (my nose's detection math.) It enhanced FitFB's sunny, fresh florals and that little elusive note that I adore in FitFB. Double duty indeed!

Le Musc & La Peau is my ultimate comfort scent, the one that I reach for when life gets hard or before a challenging day at work. It’s not so much the sum of its notes but rather how it makes me feel, like I’m close to someone I love. My colleague says it smells like her baby’s head. It’s soft and kinda fuzzy, but to me, also sensual in its own understated way. A true unisex gem for people who don’t need to scream their presence to the world

Oh, this is good ! Stays on my shirt for days with very light projection. Just clean and pleasant and in no way "perfumy". In the opening there is just a hint of rosemary before it turns somewhat powdery and settles into clean musk within 30 minutes from there on it stays linear. I would love to enjoy the heavenly rosemary opening a bit longer - but the musk & aldehydes are so clean and bright - it just forces me into a good mood.

This fragrance is pure warmth and familiarity, a creamy, cozy musk that feels like a comforting hug. It is a guaranteed compliment getter and i love to share the scent with my boyfriend. Perfectly unisex. At the start there is a lovely hint of rosemary that adds a fresh yet subtle lift, but as it settles the dry down is all about pure comfort. It is not fresh or airy, it is warm, enveloping and incredibly soothing.

A lovely musk, sandalwood and tropical floral. Kinda sweet and woody too. I can struggle with musk dominant scents, but not this time: from start to the slightly masculine dry down, Le Musc & La Peau is in sync with my chemistry. A three season versatile head turner—Spring, Summer, Fall. I’m really admiring this composition. White musk heaven.

A fresh musk (I cant believe ive found one). Lovely for every day, not cloying, pleasant, clean. It's just missing something to make it truly linger/last longer. Definitely getting this for summer though, sometimes musk goes synthetic and cloys, so I can really appreciate what this one is trying to do. It stays clean even after a while. 9/10

This is a warm, creamy musk. It behaves like a second skin, the sweetness in it differentiates it from other musks that tend to feel laundry-like. It gives off the sensation that you cleaned yourself with a classic soap, then applied Nivea cream and some tonka elixir. If this sounds appealing to you then you'll adore it. I know I do💜

Creamy and airy. It's kind of barely there, it could be almost mistaken for just a really really nice natural skin scent. Love! Works for every occassion. However don’t expect pure freshness from this. When I mention ”creamy”, I almost mean buttery. It’s a buttery musk, not an aquatic or airy musk.

One of the most sensual musky fragrance on the market. Wonted second skin scent. Clean, watery and seductive. In fact, there is a lot of ambroxan which push the sillage hard and making an aura full of confidence and sophistication. Perfect for the office time and daily occasions.

Had me at first wearing. Absolutely Incredible. The combination of notes and how they are blended offers something new for me. From a house that gets hardly any love in the fragrance community. Pierre Guillaume you have my attention and my admiration

fresh soap with something a bit bitter and sweaty (but just a little and it doesn’t take away the overall freshness). the texture is a bit dry but gentle. it clears my mind and erases the memories.

I fell in love with it immediately. After some months of wearing it I realized that the scent was so familiar to me. If you are a 90s child and your mother used Merito iron spray, then you know.

This is so milky to me. A gentle soft musk thats clean, milky, and cool. Effortless laundry. In the best way. I share this with my husband so it is safely unisex. A new obsession for me.

I, for whatever reason very much enjoy this. Performance isn’t the best, but it’s still worth grabbing a bottle.

Kind of smells like hairspray but i dig it

No mention of aldehydes or ambroxan. My nose senses those two very quickly and I don't smell any. This is an excellent clean musk. I wear it on its own, but it's also a brilliant primer. I also have the body/hand cream, which is (if that were possible) even nicer. You wouldn't expect the rosemary to fit, but it actually makes the scent and gives it a South of France quality. Obviously it's a skin scent, but longevity is around the 6 hour mark.

This is a nice scent. It ended up being a BB from luckyscent. This lasts on my skin for a good 6-7 hours. Projection isn't what I would like it to be. I can smell it for the first hour and then becomes a skin scent. I guess that's what it is supposed to be though. A fragrance for people who do not normally like to wear fragrance. I get a woody baby powder vibe from this fragrance. I'm not totally disappointed with this purchase but am also not super happy. Overall it is a nice fragrance but just not my cup of tea. Le Musc La Peau is naughty and nice. It's a sweet crystal musk with an animalic side that peeks out from time to time, if you look for it. The perfume is a bit floral (I thought violets for a moment) and quite soapy in the base. There is a vague impression of rosemary that I quite like. It gives the perfume a subtle woodiness, a bit like men's cologne. The pop of masculinity in a crystal musk is just my style. I find it sexy, much in the way that D&G's original "red cap" pour femme has that bit of basil that adds just the right touch of testosterone.

I wish I could smell this more on me:(( The little whiff that I get is delightfully warm, white solar musk with a creamy hint of ambrette and tonka a la Another 13, or Glossier You minus the iris and pink pepper. There's something vaguely herbal or aromatic there- maybe the rosemary? And a bit soapy, but it's gone before I even have a second thought about it. Bummer, because I do love a fresh, aldehydic musk as a year-round staple.

This is a fine enough for me but not an instant love. It is a soft musky that has some depth and a feminine edge. It dries down quite powdery on me and not unisex. I cannot think of a comparison but there is a sense of familiarity to it. This feels like a t-shirt and jeans type of scent where someone would hug you and think that you smelled nice but wouldn't necessarily process it as a perfume.

This musk-centric fragrance is exceptionally simple. It's clean. It's classy. It's fresh. But, it's not exciting. Imagine freshly-washed clothing. As the perfumer said, this would be a perfect perfume for layering or adding some cleanliness to your other perfumes. As a standalone, I can't help but feel a bit bored.

This is a beautiful, lovely light and soft musk. The pine and bergamot are quite strong on my skin, which overall makes the musk more original than I expected. 6.5/10

Light, airy, soft baby powder like scent. Lovely as a skin scent, and comforting for night time or after a shower.

Aquatic, musky, nutty, creamy. Definitely something from the past, masculine leaning.

I find this scent quite boring. I'm not sure why I'd spend niche perfume prices to smell like nice soap. I can get Kiehls Musk lotion, oil, and perfume for much less, and get a much more enjoyable musk experience that is both clean, sometimes a bit dirty, and also projects/lasts much better. Le Labo Another 13 is also much better for all the same reasons just menitoned, imo. I wonder if partly it's my skin, and I just absorb scent - it just really disappeared on my after the opening and I need to look for it to smell it. My deodorant is stronger. Based on price, I can't recommend it but sample first if you must.

So strange - on me, the scent seems to dissolve almost completely after 5 to 10 seconds into an extremely subtle skin scent. A very light, clean, slightly powdery musk. If i make sure to get a little on my clothing and not only on skin, I can catch the scent a little more, so I do that.

Totally fine, cozy, and appealing, but hardly memorable. I find Avon’s night magic to be not only comparable but more interesting with better performance.

I think this is a nice clean skin scent BUT I struggle to smell it after the first 10 min. Projection is also 0.

This is a nice comforting, close to the skin smell, but unfortunately lasts 2h max. Dont waste your money.

This is a blindingly clean musk, and translates to pure soap on me. Or, should I say, SOAP. I'm sure this would suit someone who likes soapy musks, but I prefer my musks rich and creamy.

Nothing special...low sillage. Received as a sample and not bottle worthy IMO. Somewhat, as someone else mentioned, boring.

I dont get this cologne. I cant smell anything. But my wife did and she likes it. Its gonna be a no from me.

This is the ultimate clean musk fragrance. I’ve been looking for an understated “my skin but better” fragrance and this knocks it out of the park. It reminds me of staying in a luxury five star resort and using the most expensive spa products left out in the bathroom. This isn’t in anyway harsh like so many sparkling aldehyde soapy fragrances because of the quality and the round lactonic fluffy skin like musk and just a pinch of buttery ylang. However, I will say those aldehydes are immediately there and soapy in the beginning reader. There is glittering bergamot and tranquil Rosemary especially at first then it calms into this serene natural musky skin layer in the dry down. I’m reminded of a placid still watery lake (but with no lake smell lol). The ambroxan pushes this fragrance off the skin and projects this beautiful fragrance so that I CAN smell it through the day on myself. It’s a fragrance that draws people in but they don’t know why. If a hug had a smell this would be it. This also lasted a decent 6 hours on me. This musk is AMAZING. Ten stars.

This is a really nice, elevated musk. At first, I went nose blind to it, but my fiancé actually complimented me, and the whiffs I did catch were really lovely. After giving it a full wear, I can confidently say I love it. I’m a sucker for a good musk, and this one absolutely hits the mark. I sprayed two spritzes on each wrist after a shower and went to the movies, and I couldn’t stop smelling it radiating from under my sweatshirt. It’s gorgeous. If you like scents like Dedcool Milk or Riddle Original, this is in that same family — but it’s different enough that I still want a full bottle even though I own the others. There’s a unique creamy freshness to it, thanks to the ylang-ylang, rosemary, and aldehydes, and they blend together beautifully. I used to think rosemary wasn’t for me in fragrance, but I’m learning that I actually enjoy it. I loved wearing this, and I’d be just as happy smelling it on someone else too.

This scent reminds me of a gorgeous man, freshly showered and shaved, in a nice suit headed to the office. It’s unisex, as a woman I love wearing this. It has a slight cologne-like vibe, but it’s soft and intimate, sweet and clean enough for both sexes. It isn’t too sugary or strongly musky. It’s fresh light and clean. It is a skin scent so it doesn’t have the best projection or lasting power. I typically prefer stronger scents, but this is one of my favorites for offices and intimate settings, when I don’t want my perfume to stand out or demand attention. It smells expensive, like whoever wears it has money and confidence and doesn’t need to show off. It’s fairly linear on me, the dry down smells like a softer version of the opening. Lasts a few hours on skin, dry down lasts a couple hours longer, and lasts even longer on clothes.

this has to be on the scents that invented the "clean scent" category/trend that we see nowadays. it's laundry softener, it's baby powder, it's familiar and inoffensive, so much so that I became nose-blind to it in the first minutes. I especially love how the sandalwood was blended in this, making it very easy to wear and avoiding that the "laundry softener-baby powder" ever felt scratchy. it reminds me of a freshly ironed cotton shirt, still hot and slightly humid. also, it has that addictive quality, probably from the ambroxan. if it had a better staying power and projection, I'd buy the full size because I feel like smelling this on my clothes would be heaven. I will be trying the extrait version of this.

So, at first blush I loved this enough to buy a whole bottle. However, I quickly noticed that, on me, anyway, the scent that I love (which I really can't isolate) burns off in about 20 minutes and leaves me with a powdery, semi-metallic musk that I'm just not happy about. (It's the same with Jovan's White Musk which actually smells narcotic and beautiful on some people, and cheap and vaguely metallic on others. I fall into the latter category.) It's a bummer. If anyone loves this fragrance, wants a 98.9% full bottle, and has something they'd like to swap, feel free to send me a message.

A very lovely full bodied musk fragrance but oh so soft! It's in the style of Clair de Musc SL only this one is less flowery. It's warmer then white musk Montale which I found metallic After 1 hour I can hardly detect it on myself, It becomes a skin scent very soon. But I like this a lot, for days that you want a very soft musk which is not flowery. This one you wear only for yourself! and sometimes I want that....p.s. but finally I prefer SL after all. The 4.1 is best in the final stage and in clothes the next day, the SL is more presence in the whole wearing.
