L'Eau Guerriere 20

A bracing spring morning hike over pine needles. Tingling fresh, sinewy and austere - I get an overall astringent, crisp 'n cool effect which is far more outdoorsy-woodsy than you might expect from the pyramid, and sadly much less of the resiny warmth than other people here can smell- which is a shame for me as a little more richness down the bottom end would round this out nicely. Tantalising, almost-bitter whiffs of conifer and juniper keep your nose tingling and alive - odd wafts almost verging on the scent of gin. Tending masculine but wearable for anyone who likes a really authentic forest smell. (Not reminiscent of fake-pine cleaning products or sawn lumber in any way, it's much much classier and more organic than that.) However, it doesn't quite have its boots laced firmly enough to be properly rugged - the performance on me is on the weak side, never projecting far or lasting more than a couple of hours. So, a bit of an oddity and it runs out of puff, but a great olfactory walk all the same. ETA: In hotter weather, the woods and resins bloom a bit more on the skin - they are still very dry and aromatic rather than rich/ambery, but it's all well in keeping with the spare and sinewy style of this scent.

I get a very strong note of copal here. Copal is resin burned as incense in Central America--the word comes from a Mayan word for incense. It's not entirely clear which tree resins are used. Anyway, this fragrance transports me to a church in Guatemala, dark and fragrant with copal, the soft mutterings of prayers in Maya barely audible. There is a feel of cold stone, humid rainforest air, and clouds shrouding a purplish volcano. Ominous and evocative, very secretive, passion just below the serene surface. I love it.

Oh wow, this smells like Christmas! Like pine trees, sap, and frankincense from the Three Kings. The aldehydes give it the uplifting feeling of tinkling green and red lights and Christmas carols playing in the background on a phonograph. I like how it reminds me so much of Christmas, yet it's not foodie at all. No cinnamon or nutmeg or anything baked. Plenty strong and lasts forever on me. I'm not sure what else to say except this is another must-have from this amazing house. Instant love!

This fragrance is very fine, neat, fresh and almost powdery to smell after an hour on the skin. It starts off though with quite an overwhelming smell of union and earth (might be personal ofcourse). A very special scent to wear and to smell. Would be a definite head-turner for me! :-) Highly recommended if you like something a little suffisticated.

I love it. This is one of the scents I would like my man to wear. I agree with fountaingirl: a tiny bit soapy, clean, but not too much. Woody, herbal, resinuous, cool. It has a relaxing, calming, soothing effect on me. I guess I would like to wear this when my man is away, and it would comfort me while I miss him.

Surprised !! When I smell it first time ... It smells my mothers handbag when I was a kid !!!! I'm now 53 year old ... and she's no more alive ... Of course I bought 2 bottles (limited edt) and so I get my mother scent on my hand .... So strange!!

Super underrated, if you can find it on sale and like scents like wonderwood you wont be disappointed. Very short lived is my only complaint

The freshly lit incense floats lightly like mist around the body. 🍃 As the fresh and vibrant green subsides, the woody notes of pine and cypress gradually intensify in the middle, as if parting the dense foliage, touching the tree trunks, and intertwining with the smoky, cool-burning sensation that boldly climbs the softness of the plants. With the passage of time, musk and frankincense resin become more velvety, merging with the sweat and oils of the skin, creating a hint of sensuality. The incense burns throughout but gradually becomes tranquil, gentle, and hazy until the green is completely consumed. 🍃 Interestingly, this fragrance possesses contradictory qualities. It embodies both the modern, icy, metallic urban feel and the sacred and solemn essence of ancient mythology. These two aspects subtly intertwine depending on the attire and the desired aura of the day. Overall, it gives a dry, fresh, transparent, lightweight, elegant, and green impression. Interestingly, at higher temperatures, compared to the metallic green sensation of winter, the dry woody aspect becomes more prominent. The character associated with this fragrance is not cold but rather cool. They have a calm and firm demeanor, gentle yet distant and aloof. 🍃 Additionally, whether influenced by the name or not, the imagery in my mind evokes a sense of ancient civilization and sacred rituals. It portrays a stone temple covered in climbing greenery, where the echoes make it difficult to determine the origin of the sounds, surrounded by almost inaudible murmurs and chants, simmering beneath a calm surface. In my perspective, 20. L'Eau Guerrière embodies a thoroughly contemporary fragrance, defying the brutal and destructive image painted by its creators. Instead of an ostentatious hurricane, it unfolds as a green zephyr, especially well-crafted in its initial stages. The excellence of its first phase makes it particularly suited for a spirited and swift car ride. Nevertheless, it remains a fleeting composition with modest projection, a factor that undoubtedly influenced my assessment. If I were to pinpoint the optimal season for Warrior Water, it would undoubtedly be spring, with its lush green surroundings. Despite its weightier and sweeter base, it seems that Pierre Guillaume's creation leans more towards younger perfume enthusiasts. My rating: Worth getting to know. (5/7)

From official website: 'Cinchona bark, Incense, Aloe wood, Gin Tonic accord, Cedar.' As for the notes list on here, who knows how that happened! It is meant to evoke the burning of laurel leaves at the oracle in Delphi... Opening is stunning in an unusual way, to the point where you feel this is going to be a freshie of sorts, but after those first 10 minutes it becomes clear that this is going to be a woody-incense scent of some kind. The middle phase is rather strange in that I felt that it disappeared (i.e. that it would be short lived), but then it returned for a beautiful drydown that is heavily cedar and incense, The overall effect though is one of lightness. Like this a lot.

Somehow this is sophisticated and complicated without a lot of ingredients. L`Eau Guerriere undulates from lofty aldehydes to grounded smokey wood. There's a tiny bit of sweetness coming from somewhere. Subtle and sexy, bubbly and sweet at the same time. Update: I come back to this and find that sometimes it's...eh...ok, but other times it's such a lovely grown up smell that makes me feel an edge of smug sophistication.

This does smell like christmas, in an herbal way instead of sweet. Very green, piney, woody. Felt like it dissappeared after a few minutes but the drydown is pretty good. I have 100+ niche samples for swap within Europe - updated spreadsheet of samples on my profile, get in touch!

Like most other PG’s I’ve tried, Eau Guerrière is almost startlingly original: I’ve been sampling lots of fragrances for years, so almost everything reminds me of many other scents by now, but PG’s work almost never does: they really are the very best when it comes to imagining surprising but functioning note combinations. In this case it’s a natural, outdoorsy wood note with lots of spicy frankincense and a very fresh aquatic/metallic green note. Definitely interesting, but (the clue in the name) much too far on the masculine side of unisex for my own taste.

Metallic opening that explodes into woodsy, spicy, musky scent. The frankincense and resin notes really linger. In the dry down, the notes really shift for me between spiced sugar and a woodsy, graphite-like scent. Butch woodsman vibes for sure. I am not sure I am so keen on the resin notes--they remind me a bit too much of Etat Libre's Afternoon of Faun, which, on me was overpoweringly resiny to my detriment! This PG scent really settles down into something warm and huggable. I am sure it would be divine on someone super masc.

I don't know what it is about Pierre Guillaume fragrances, but every one I've tried smells almost good. And then there's this ... metallic / gasoline-like scent that ruins everything. It makes me feel like I'm in jail or working in an auto shop. Literally because of the metal smell! I really hope I don't receive more in my monthly sample kit. Not a fan.

This scent accesses all the airy aspects of frankincense, aldehydes and greenness to form a scent I didn't much care for. I was intrigued by all the ingredients, and thought that I would enjoy them, but the scent unfortunately lacks any grunt and base. It's quite sedate and has a funny Nasomatto quality to it. Not for me.

I expected more incense from this and was disappointed! I have to say, I am an incense nut so the "olibanum" note had me at first glance and I thought this would be oily and resiny and dark. It is surprisingly light and very wearable as a day scent. Even though it was not what I was going for, it is still a great frag, opens with some soapiness, a bit of what smells like a very quiet salty musk and some metal. Not a watery ozone, but something that still smells ozone-y to me. This is a cold scent, but soft and clean and fierce all at the same time. Nothing I would want to wear, but something that if I smelled it on a man it would make me take notice -- it is unusual and quietly intense.

Aldehydes and green/ herbaceous notes joined by frankincense, a subtle oud note and something else that smells much like resinous cannabis. Dry, woody and masculine in a very modern way. Maybe not groundbreaking but incredibly likeable and easy to wear. Together with Comme Des Garcons Standard, one of my favorite office fragrance of the past 5 years. While L'Eau Guerriere is surely not a sillage monster I get a reasonable projection and lasting power. Rating: 7.5/10

A very complex and intelligent opening,everything is rich and glacial and all of a sudden starts getting warm revealing again the top notes but in a warm way,emotions flow revealing many textures and memories : cypress and pine needles, green notes, basil,coriander, patchouli, cinnamon, jasmine, vetiver, cedar and geranium; the dry down is very aromatic leather, tonka bean, amber, musk, benzoin and oakmoss. Very 70's/80/'s power house.

Green and woody with a juniperous touch. The opening is to my nose a bit messy aldehydic, but it soon settles while green, woody and slightly citrusy, balsamic chords takes over. Sillage is soft and on my skin the scent disappears allmost completely after an hour. L`Eau Guerriere is in a way interesting but not a scent i would like to wear very often.

This is the third PG I have gone crazy for. In a nutshell: sexy lumberjack, chops down trees and builds you a cabin. What goes on in that cabin afterward is your business... It’s a super natural, foresty, scent. I think lovers of church type incense and the outdoors will love it. I want to bathe in it!

I like the smell, but it is very fleeting. After a few minutes, it's gone. It may be suited to indoor and office environments, but outdoors in the tropics it is beaten into submission in no time.

Very odd fragrance. Spicy but a little too "fresh." Not unpleasant. Not something I'd seek out again, though.
