Lumiere Fauve

This is actually so so good and so much under the radar! The best Cocoa and Ylang perfume that I know - It has a big strong radiation. It lasts forever !! in the base notes I get some tobacco and honey but not overpowering. There are some other note. I cannot describe it is a little bit of a secret note, it’s very mysterious, but nice very softly animalic -in a warm cozy gourmandy way. No screeching or scratching notes. Here the fragrance is strong without shouting which I very appreciate- worth the test. I will look out this series from Pierre Guillaume for sure.

The opening of Lumiere Fauve by Pierre Guillaume Paris is very masculine, and very old school. It mellows out in the mid and it becomes quite pleasant. It smells like the men's department in a high-end boutique department store ln the 1970s-80s, or what I imagine the haberdashery in the Kingsman movies would smell like. To be more specific for me personally, I basically lived in an American high end department store called Jacobson's as a kid with my mom, who shopped there multiple times per week. We spent all day throughout the four floors of the store. My mom and I had lunch in the restaurant on the top floor (I always had French Onion Soup), I played with fancy handmade wooden toys in the toy department, I hid in the warmth and softness of the racks of fur coats while my mom shopped .... it was very similar to the old British television show, Are You Being Served. Well, this fragrance smells exactly like Jacobson's. It is thick, rich, sweet, oriental, and decadent yet elegant. The honey-cacao-tobacco notes are lovely together. The sweetness from the honey binds beautifully to the tobacco. Guerlain is literally my favorite house. But to be honest, Lumiere Fauve is much better than Guerlain's Tobacco Honey, in my opinion. There is a subtle hint of the listed ylang-ylang note. And I can definitely smell the leather accord in the mid and dry down ... and coming from a guy who generally dislikes leather accords, the leather in Lumiere Fauve smells great. I can't imagine wearing this casually, on a man it feels like it requires a suit or at the very least, business casual attire. It is also one of those Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde fragrances that would smell bold and masculine on a Type A male yet gorgeously flamboyant and feminine on a confident woman. I really like it throughout its course, but especially within the late mid and the dry down. It evolves and morphs dramatically over time. Although I know he did not own this particular fragrance, it also really reminds of my father. I can almost see, hear and feel him as I smell this ... coming home from work, taking off his suit jacket and picking me up and carrying me to the bedroom where he would throw me on the bed for fun, which I loved. In my opinion this is not blind buy safe. ZGO Perfumery has samples available, that is where I got mine. I would give it a very high score of 9/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.40. It is exceptional, in my opinion. But as you can see, it conjures up a lot of beautiful memories for me, so I may be a bit biased.

I want to try it...the composition seems to be so good and balanced! I also love the design of the bottle. Pierre Guillaume is a truly genius nose from the young generations!
