Noir Okoume

Wouahhh I am surprised to see only one comment regarding this fragrance. Clearly this one is not known by many persons. But what a composition!! And this is a unique smell. This is warm, definitely not the dry incense but powdery... the mix is absolutely perfect. I agree with Lady Money it stays close to the skin, so you might want to use it for specific moment with someone ;-). The smell is sooooo good that it would deserve a much better projection or sillage. So at the end, one down side for me would be the price, I do understand the raw materials are excellent but the lack of projection/sillage for me do not justify the price. But make no mistakes, this is a great creation.

Woody, smoky, powdery, oud-ish, perfumey, an intense night-time scent. Oh I love this! It's quite different to most perfumes I own and suits the noir label. Delving into the notelist there's smoky oolong sure, but I don't get a tea vibe overall. It's more like the toasted buckwheat that is sometimes sprinkled on top of the tea. Myrrh is here so maybe that toasted note is coming from there. This is a dark one with moody resins and woods, some lovely glints of gunsmoke and powder and what I call iris's "perfuminess". And I suspect there's an animal here, lurking in the darkness.

What a beauty! Noir Okoume starts off a bit harsh, with a sharp incense note. But it soon settles into the most gorgeous creamy, smoky iris. There is a touch of sweetness here as well. It's a realtively simple, contemplative scent. Serene, distant, almost meditative. Not a scent that changes a lot, but takes us on a beautiful journey nevertheless. It's rather close to the skin but the lasting power is pretty impressive.

This was a really interesting one! On paper it smelled like straight-up charcoal, to the extent that I was pretty hesitant to try it on skin. I'm glad I did though, as it's a completely different scent worn. Still smoky, but so much softer, creamier, and gentler. This is a rare smoky scent that speaks more to relaxation and comfort than bonfires and barbecues. I really like it! I will say it doesn't really match any of the notes given. Not that it *doesn't* smell like them either, but if you told me to guess the notes I don't think I'd have picked oolong, orris, etc. It's just a generally nice, warm, "brown" sort of scent. Edit: Have tested this a few times and it's a tricky one! Sometimes I get the creamier, softer facets I mentioned above. Other times it smells a little more oud-y or something. Definitely sample before buying.

I'm having trouble distinguishing any 'real world ingredients', whatever that may be, but what I'm getting is familiar synthetic notes. I'm getting new shoes (specifically new Nike sneakers), a standard 'green' note, and something quite fragrant/aromatic. There's a stock 'musk-woods', it kinda reminds me of something likely used in Nasomatto scents, and something with a quasi-citrus top note. Regardless, I'm not 100% feeling it, it just comes across a little too 'regular' -- I'm looking for WEIRD and peculiar. Smelling this, I feel it's too office-safe. It might work for you, but it's not something I would go for.

This is a glorious smell, and totally unexpected for me. Looking at the notes I thought it would be dry and woody, but it is sweet and powdery and beautifully blended. I don’t know how this can be described as leathery. The disappointment is that sillage and longevity are poor and with a high priced perfume like this I expect better performance. Update - after testing this for a while I have revised my opinion and longevity is actually better than I originally thought. It really is a fab smell and I will buy a full size bottle when I can.

I like this a lot but the notes don't seem to tell the story at all on this one. This is very much a musky, slightly animalic (in a clean barnyard way, ie probably civet - the most polite of the animalic notes) leather. I get absolutely zero smoke that other people seem to be getting. I get none of the listed notes. This projects for maybe an hour or so then becomes a skin scent which seems to be typical of Pierre Guillaume, though this is the first thing I've tried from the brand.

Today to better appreciate this creation I ask you to look for images of a typical Gabonese artistic representation: the Font reliquary keeper. Imagine admiring this little statue in all its beauty while exhaling the smell of the wood and resins that compose it: you will have Noir Okoume, a dark, woody fragrance with resins that give almost smoky scents. Most elegant and mysterious.

It is one of the more interesting fragrances from PG. I'm surprised that no one has commented the animalic feel it has. In the drydown there is a huge vintage civet note, which is emphasized by the salty note.

Had much hopes for it, but sadly, it’s Bodyshop White Musk on me all the way 🙄 I agree with a comment below - imo, too office-safe. I wish I met that civet 😁
