Rivages Noirs

Amazingly like Davidoff Echo. Despite the notes. Deeper, less citrus. After half and hour a bit more vanilla peeps through helping distance itself from Echo. I like both - please don’t make me choose. The opening of Rivages Noir is better and more lush with gorgeous layers with all the ingredients but it simplifies too much on the dry down where as in contrast Echoes dry down becomes more complex showing the spices that seem to have disappeared in RN. I’ll have to try it some more and update later.

Despite the other negative comments, I find myself always coming back to this scent just to smell it. I love it, but the dry down is sweet and slightly feminine which is very different from the opening.

Like an early 90s sport fragrance, but not very well done. I'd have worn this when I was 13

There's something very fresh and musky about this scent. I feel like it has some sort of cirtus, though may be the sweet melon and slightly herbal oil from cypress leaf interacting. It feels masculine to me, like there are some musk notes hidden here. It's sweet, the amber / vanilla are quite prominent but this to me is rather fresh spicy than warm spicy. Or at least both fresh and warm spicy. I can more imagine wearing this in the summer than in the winter. It even smells a bit like coconut I may be imagining it though. Where's the woodyness? Yeah, I got the Davidoff aqua-freshie vibe in this scent, too. Of course, it's upcycled, a lot more nuanced, but still kinda generic smelling. I can't fault it at all, it is what it says it is, but I was personally hoping for something a little more elevated or higher spec. ...

I freely admit to not having the most sophisticated nose - but this smells like standard blue colored Sephora men's fragrance of the last few years. Not the best of the series, that's for sure.
