Suede Osmanthe 5.1

Emotion: Clean cotton sheets with leather belt on. Very Clean, expensive "detergent" you may say, cotton (not on the notes list though!..), with a substle hint of leather, very comfy, office-friendly and unoffensive. White shirt, business meeting appropriate. I find it quite similar to Blance Byredo and Coton Egyptien Phaedon, in the sense it is very soft with a hint of leather. Great sillage for 2 hours and it becomes a skin scent in 4 hours. Quite poor longevity, but appropriate for re-applying. If you like Clean Fresh laundry and Warm Cotton, you will like this one as well. Safe blind buy for this category.

Apricot, soap and leather. What an interesting mix. The fresh fruit tea makes my mouth water, but then the soapiness of the aldehydes abates the invitation. The suede is thin and rough. The overall effect is like an apricot facial scrub with a hint of woody dryness. Suede Osmanthe finishes quite light but overall is appealing and easy to wear with different notes rising intermittently. It's an artful fragrant experience that will appeal to those looking for something new without being obnoxiously radical.

I love this scent. It is fruity in an abstract sort of way and slightly soapy. The suede note is polite but it certainly adds a touch of class to the fragrance. In addition, the black tea note and a clever blend of synthetic molecules give it an element of mystery and depth. Unisex and long-lasting. There is a big sillage at first, but it fades within two hours. A subsequent skin scent can be detected.

This is beautiful. When I'm wearing it I feel clean and put together. It is perfect for the office but also interesting with the green osmanthus. I mostly get the osmanthus and also the aldehydes. The suede is very very soft. I'm normally not drawn to fragrances with leathery/suede notes, but I love this fragrance very much. It does fade away after 3-4 hours.

Gorgeous scent! Starts with a fresh and somewhat bitter and tart scent of a peach stone center, but quickly develops into beautiful soft osmanthus based suede: warm, comforting and slightly powdery. It’s sooooo soft and smooth that it’s almost buttery for my nose. Love it! My ig: scent.guide

A much more interesting Blanche with a flirty fruity note added, Suede Osmanthe is not as innocent or borderline sterile like Blanche, which in essence is a scent of detergent. It has a lingering scent that reminds me of human skin.

An interesting scent, especially in the beginning. Something I would like to wear. I smell apricot (fruity), and leather (suede) very clearly. 2 hours later it develops to fresh soap/shampoo smell on my arm.

Second musk from Pierre Guillaume, this is really really beautiful. The peach + tea note with leathery notes is just a wonderful combination. Absolutely gorgeous. 8/10

Summer fragrance for leather wearers. Lovely, well crafted, clean, fresh without being a "freshie". Will probably restock when I run low. More of a review coming soon.

Exceedingly pleasant, airier, more floral cousin to Lutens Daim Blond - delicate femme suede set off beautifully by the osmanthus note(s) and meshing harmoniously with a more subdued apricot. All very organic, nothing clashy, no unfortunate wrong turns in the dry down either. Really very good ... BUT like some other PG's I have tried it doesn't have the stamina or oomph to fight its own corner! Collapses right down to a hardly-sniff-outable skin scent within 3to 4hrs. So for my taste, pretty but too dainty. Could be unisex for the right man; any woman at all could wear this anywhere, as leather scents go, it's the soul of discretion. Certainly worth a punt if you are looking for a classy and restrained suede, but IMHO there are others in its class offering a bit more reward.

PG5.1 Suede Osmanthe is a novel leather. The perfumer mixes some classic leather notes with modern synthetic aroma-compounds which smell fantasy-like, familiar yet new. The black tea absolute is mixed with the Suederal molecule, aldehydes and cashmeran and together they create an illusion of the smoky musky osmanthus flower aroma.

Light tea/leather with a hint of sweetness from apricot on the beginning. No osmanthus at all. A very clean scent but not distinctive to other tea/leather blend. Suitable for daily wear though.

From PG website: "A precious Suede, a thin and delicate skin, infused with apricot and black tea notes, olfactive illusion of an osmanthus, conspicuous by its absence. Aldehyde, Black tea leaves, Suede... a game of olfactive chimeras." Not sure it has to be so complicated (game of chimeras?). I don't get suede-I get musk (clean one). I don't get black tea. I get apricot, tons of it, sweet ripe apricot. Beautiful. But short lived. Falls off the face of the earth within a few hours. it so reminds me of Cuir venenum, in that the same thing happens: fruit note plus leather and then it's all over. Not sure what to make of it...

The mix of notes in Suede Osmanthe is coming across generic, like a shampoo scent. On my skin this is nothing like Luten’s Daim Blond which is a lovely, complex powdery suede scent. It’s also very unique with heliotrope and apricot, unlike this Guillaume which feels mediocre. Of everything I’ve tested from the house of Pierre Guillaume, Suede Osmanthe is the most disappointing, #1150

just soap and a bit of leather

Reminds me of LV's Dan la Peau, probably because of the shared apricot and "leather" notes. Although I do not intend to acquire a full bottle of either scent, I vastly prefer the leather in Dans la Peau compared to the very faint suede here. Longevity is alarming, in that I have to ostrich deeply into my shirt to be able to detect it, and it's less than 2 hours after application. The scent itself is not offensive, but it is rather forgettable, which would normally make it an "ok" in my book. Combined with a higher asking price and extremely weak lasting power, my overall vote gets knocked down to a "dislike". Ooof.

This doesn't work for me at all - osmanthus bubblegum? Really? I don't smell any suede or tea, and the osmanthus note, if you can call it that, is so hidesouly synthetic and cartoonish that I struggle to take the whole thing seriously. Nothing changed an hour in, so I had to scrub it off. Such a shame, as the notes sounded right up my street.

I am on a search for the perfect soft suede scent. and this is not it. to my nose the opening is automotive grease and tires. dries down to a nice but super light osmanthus scent. no complexity there. Not my cup of tea

Didn't work for me at all - honestly smelled like perfumed sanitary products! Very sweet synthetic white floral with a plasticky note that must be the suede.

No suede, no osmanthus. That perfume has dusty feeling plus some not fresh fruity note. Base is typical musky.

@Bubbles1964 my intentions are to praise your constancy in leaving us, every day, a trace, a plot. Everyday. Thank you. Although I only know a modest part of the scents you explain, #1150, reading about them is always instructive to me and a personal pleasure. I extend these words to everyone, to you lovely people who write daily here, you are my wonderful outlet, I love this forum and "literary" space.

I definitely try to find the redeeming qualities even of perfumes I dislike, but this is just terrible. All I get is a totally static mash of soapy aldehydes, cartoonish suede accord, and the slightest hint of fruitiness. I really like & have purchased some of Guillaume's work, but this ain't it. ETA: I guess I did find a redeeming quality, which is that this is very weak. 😹😹😹

This is a very light leather fruity scent. Apricot like osmanthus, suede, musk...clean, soapy, fresh. Not exactly like Daim Blonde but it does has a slight reminiscence...that doesn't last. I like it ok, but is too short lived and loses the apricot leather notes too fast. You end up with a soapy fruity scent until it goes away completely... In just a couple of hours.

I bought this blindly on a sale and glad I didn't pay full price. While initially I smell the suede I get no osmanthus whatsoever and it dries down to a laundry detergent like smell that I can't quite get right with. It wasn't what I signed up for. I wanted suede the entire wear. Sold it. ✨

This is definitely unisex, in fact it would really suit a man more imo. I smell suede and tea with a hint of apricot. I definitely see why people say laundry detergent but it has a little darker nuance thar makes it quite lovely to me and a bit different. Interesting fragrance

this is Hibiscus Mahajad and Sun Bleached together. Hibiscus and leather in the opening and then it becomes cleener, and less powerful, with musks, aldehydes and flowers.

Peach tea fights with children's poster paint. An hour later, smells like a fabric softener from Waitrose - clean and well aired bedsheets.

A dusty road along an apricot orchid. Landry drying in the sun. Extremely unique fragrance.
