Colonia Ambrata

So I ended up receiving a sample of this with another order, and had no idea what this was. Pineider is an Italian brand that makes mostly leather and stationery products, and their line of fragrances seems to be a limited one-off thing from the past. I'll start off by saying that this surprised me in a good way. Something about this one just invokes emotion, and is remarkably nostalgic for some reason. It smells familiar, like a scent you recognize but can't put your finger on it. Super classy, masculine, old-school, and mature, filled with photorealistic, dusty, heavy woods. The opening reminds me of something like an shed filled with old antique tools with sawdust on the floor. That might not sound appealing but it genuinely is such a pleasant scent. It's lightened up by some florals and a touch of greenery, and a note that somewhat reminds me of a cherry cigar that becomes more prominent in the dry-down. This is definitely one for an older, sophisticated man, and not something I would ever wear, but wow this is a really good fragrance. Very artistic and tasteful.
