I don't normally lean toward fruity scents but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I absolutely adore this one! Where Apple Tabac had a blast of true red apple followed by a sweet and spicy apple candle quality, like sipping cider in an orchard's gift shop in front of a display of apple pie candles, Akero is sneaking a slice of Granny Smith from the cutting board while your mother is making a pie. It's juicy but firm and just a little more tart than you might expect. There's a little bit of an apple shampoo quality about it that keeps it from falling too far into outright candied fruit gourmand territory, but it's fresh and bright rather than soapy. The drydown is where it really shines on my skin and where I really fell in love with it, though. It's still light and fresh but loses most of the mouthwatering tartness and evolves into something warm, transparently resinous, and just a little bit creamy. I lean toward spicier and woodier fragrances that wear into a sweet skin scent and this might just be the first fruit-forward thing I've fallen in love with since I was a kid. Something about this just works heavenly on my skin and I'd go as far as to say it blindsided me into becoming one of my top five favorite drydowns. I will be purchasing a bottle and maybe some classic apple shampoo to compliment it!

Freshly picked apples are one of my favorite worldly smells- I love getting my nose in the bag and taking in a big sniff of apple heaven when they’re in-season and I can buy local ones from the farmers market. This is exactly that- fresh, unwaxed, crisp, aromatic green apples. Just a hint of earthiness keeps this scent from turning shampoo-y, though I think for some folks who prefer pineward’s forested scenes this might lean a little too soapy. Despite the apple-ness, I think this is a perfect spring and early summer scent for me. Plays very nice with Acadian and coastal veil if you’re into layering. Mr Pineward describes this as a green apple soliflore, which feels spot on for me- any other notes present only add to the earthy-realistic part if this scent, and I definitely wouldn’t describe this as amber-y or warm spicy like the main accords section here suggests- it’s sweet and straight to the point.

Oh my, how I love Akero! The freshest, greenest, earthiest apple scent I have ever smelled in my life! It's filled to overflowing with crunchy green apples fresh from the tree. The smell of the warm earth floats up to you in the summer air and combines with the apple scent, and imbues you with a feeling of well-being and happiness that reminds you of youth and childhood. I truly adore this frangrance!

Akero, such a beautiful and fruity scent. In the opening, it’s crazy, literally like a fresh apple, a granny smith to be exact, not some fake apple, a literal real apple. At the same time, it’s covered in a blanket of soft sandalwood. So good. If you like apple scented scents a great and wearable scent. Lasts 10-11 hours on skin Projects pretty good (5-6ft) 9.5/10

Very apple and green-heavy with a bit of sweetness and woodiness going on in the background. Usually, apple fragrances make me think of the fall. However, because of the fresh greenery note in this one, it makes me think more of spring or early summer, when everything really starts waking up. A really pleasant fragrance.

Seemingly simple scent profile but with a crisp and cold freshness that is hard to dislike. Reminds me of biting into a freshly picked johnnagold green apple while apple picking on a brisk, cold late autumn day in Michigan. Love this one!

A really nice balance of apple and wood. Neither really overpowers the other in my opinion. There's also a spicy note that I only smell if I stick my nose right next to my wrist.

I got this as a second hand blind buy - I've been fascinated by Pineward for awhile, but knew that the house didn't really cater to my preferred profiles. It took me a little while to work up the courage to put it on after smelling it on paper - it was very powerful to me, but I'm glad I finally "braved" it. This is a very sweet and slightly tart green apple on a bed of spiced, dry woods and patchouli. I'm a fluffy/feminine scent lover, so this leans maybe a hint too masculine for me despite the sweetness level, probably due to the patchouli (which I always interpret as masculine.) It is enticing though, I'm enjoying wearing it. I can see what people complain about here with "candle" and "vape juice" accusations. It feels almost unavoidable for apple scents, the associations are just so strong for most of us! This doesn't feel cheap to me though, and the drydown is very pleasant and not super artificial. I'm wearing this over the remnants of a musky gourmand vanilla oil I'd been wearing, and I think that the vanilla may be helping it a smidge to round out the profile for me.

Akero doesn't give me the immediate sense of delight that so many of Pineward's more forest- or spice-focused offerings do, but it's intriguing and therefore lovable. The apple here is so different from many apple fragrances that--particularly given how its supported by the benzoin and sandalwood--it doesn't immediately scream "fruit;" instead, the initial impression is something I can't quite put my finger on, but closer to an old wood shed that's been used for storage and now has an indistinct, pleasant, warm aroma. The best thing about Akero, I think, is just how well-blended it is, so that none of the ingredients (e.g., the patchouli, which could have been shouty but isn't) shouts on its own.

All I can smell is a fall yankee candle. This is exactly the red apple cinnamon one. Some other Christmasy herbs or spices underneath, including pine. This scent also often comes in Glade plug ins. This is walking into a teacher’s classroom. Overall nice, but when people say they don’t want to smell like a candle, this is what they mean. Of course, we get this issue with different scents, this is just mine.

Definitely a large, realistic presence of green apples. Fresh, sweet, and tart. Smells like it actually came from a tree. An artful touch of benzoin+patchouli carries the apple accord home as it dries. Rounds it out and provides a bit of depth to the scent. Something slightly ashy too is sticking out. Nothing but good things to say about this one. Spring and fall appropriate. 8.3/10

On paper it's alright. Could use it as like a little room scent. Spray it on the paper a bunch and leave it to sit. When I spray it on skin it kind of reminds me of the Green Apple Jones craft soda. And as it dries down it is making me think of super sugary Kool-Aid.

368 Sorry, but this is terrible. Smells like Mr. Klean bathroom cleaner. No apples here! I do smell a bathroom cleaner type of lime. Then it settles into a medicinal chemical sent.

True story: So I put an order in to this middle eastern restaurant and went to pick up. The air was thick with spices and deliciousness so I'm surprised at what happens next. I'm standing at the counter waiting for the cashier to acknowledge me. She had her back facing away and didn't see me but turns her head slightly, starts sniffing, then goes "Whoa I can literally smell that someone was there behind me, how can I help you?". Dear brother, she was like 6 ft away. Look I'm a pretty handsome and well dressed guy so I'm used to attention but this got me NOTICED and had this little cutie gushing over me. She couldn't stop smiling. Alright, now let's talk about the smell. Once upon a time, in a far away land known as Philadelphia, I owned Greenly by Parfums de Marly which also has a nice green apple vibe but yeah ..... gave it away after smelling this. Akero has a much superior green apple note that literally has this surrounding/cloud like aura to it, I can't even explain it properly. Not a densely thick or overly sweet cloud, but more like a little happy cloud following you around and bringing joy with every sniff. Spray this in your beard if you have one and you'll be breathing in these occasionally tart but sweet wafts of the greenest apple, which is the prominent note. Don't even get me started on that pressurized sprayer letting off a long mist that gives the PERFECT amount every time. Oh, and for an EDT this shit got lasting power. Don't sleep on it. Expect 7+ hours with well above average projection. Not beast mode, but still quality. I guess this could be unisex but to me it leans masculine. I reach for it all the time because it's just so damn good. So good.

I can see the Yankee Candle aspect. But that was months ago when I first tried it in the colder months. It was almost forgettable but very distinct and familiar hence the spiced apple candle. Boy! When I tried it in the spring just now it really came alive. Very fresh and the spice completely opens up and plays well against the Green Apple tartness. Very uplifting and familiar definitely made for warmer sunny weather. Such a bright and an endearing fragrance that makes me excited to wear it because of the familiarity and nostalgiac feelings it evoked.

22nd pineward sample! this is a very apple forward fragrance. not too big of a fan because the apple note is similar to that of apple tabac, also smells candley. dry down is a lot more bearable, being a creamy sandalwood, still not a fan. longevity is meh, around 6 hours. if you like apple then this might be your cup of tea, 5/10

that apple smell is amazing reminds me of a bath and body's works hand soap but in a good way, you get hit with so much cinnamon and apple smells like an apple pie I would most likely be getting the 32ml smells so good for winter/fall this reminds me of all those falls photos that are orange with leaves everywhere 10/10.

Not sure where the hate is coming from on this one. I'm NOT getting "floor cleaner" and I'm not getting "Yankee candle" at all. It's an amazingly blended benzoin, Patchouli and a heavy dose of apple. Clean and crisp. Very mature. Very classy with only a touch of natural sweetness. Shines in the dry down.

This is a very nostalgic and weird in a good way scent. I really like it. It smells like a slightly rotten streifling apple with apple scab that fell from a tree in my grandma’s village garden.

One of the most wearable pineward scents. To me it has a sharp smell of grass and not much else. Not bad but not anything crazy though. 6/10

Earthy green apple scent without being overbearingly sweet. Reminds me of being at an apple orchard, very nostalgic.
