Bindebole

I ordered a sample set from Pineward, and Bindebole is the one I gravitate most strongly towards. Easily one of the most realistic green/forest scents I have tried. A mix of pine/coniferous trees and the growth that comes from fresh greenery. It also calls to mind certain indoor greenhouses or botanical gardens I have visited but with a blast of open air forest mixed in. Not a hint of anything synthetic here, just clean smelling goodness. To my nose, it doesn't project super strongly, but I will catch wiffs throughout the day for at least a good 3-4 hours, and seems to remain as a skin scent longer than that. For those of us who wear fragrance for ourselves and don't like to announce their scent with an airhorn, this is a good option. Even better if you are an office worker who likes to take a bit of the outdoors indoors with them. I highly recommend picking up a sampler set from Pineward for anyone who loves natural, coniferous, or green forest scents. Only tough decision on this is what size to buy when I run out of my sample.

Pineward Perfumes Bindebole has an official note breakdown of poplar bud, pine needles, ambrette, crushed leaves, and cedar. It provides a heavy and authentic pine accord with some vaguely resinous background, a dark blend that is nonetheless somewhat green in the way that pine is, but not in a sharp, tingly, even minty way as sometimes can be. I’m quite impressed by this. Even though the fragrance does not lean much in the direction of a resinous, dirtier fragrance, it nonetheless is realistic, dark, and dense, and really does a great job conjuring the outdoors while being a smooth and wearable perfume. Bindebole has the same pricing as the rest of the house, at $135/80 for 37/17ml, and performs quite well, in high concentration (30% or so for all of their fragrances). The juice on the website’s photo of the bottle looks to be a darker green, in fact, which is nice 8 out of 10

*I get absolutely zero cat pee or urine from this lol This one was definitely a hyperrealistic tree scent, and I loved it! It opens very green, almost vegetal and of course smells similar to a tree. This smells like the leaves AND the bark. You get the crushed leaves that fall beneath the tree too. These leaves specifically smell crushed, not fresh. This does smell like a tree, but there’s depth here, it’s not simple by any means. This feels like a very refined aroma of a whole tree and I enjoy it.

I'm very impressed with this. It smells exactly as you would expect based on the notes, but in a wearable way. it smells like a fragrance you would wear and not just a cool smelling scent. It smells like a damp forest. In fact, the description on the website suggests a receding frost and I smell it. It must be a similar accord to Icefall by the same house. This a really cool pine/tree fragrance that smells like a men's barbershop-style fragrance. Good stuff.

Dusty cedar lotion. Like rubbing your whole body with jergens or lubriderm and then walking through the lumber area at home depot. Just a hint of a slightly tangy pine resin. Cozy and easily layerable sawdust vibe. Addictive. Would do well in hot summer weather.

My favorite of the house so far! Smells like tree sap. Fresh and aromatic. Bright and very green. Not too sugary, but sweet like a forest.

I have a special place in my heart for fragrances that I can walk outside wearing and genuinely not be able to distinguish from my surroundings. It's honestly a difficult feat to pull off—the town I live in is a mile wide if you're being generous, has more forest and farmland than neighborhood, and the fresh air itself is the driving force behind my quest for realistic natural perfumes. Pineward has put more offerings into this category than any other house I've tried, and Bindebole is another welcome addition. It smells for all the world like taking the long way home on a spring day, following the footpath worn into the no man's land along the edge of the old growth forest preserve and getting a light pleasant whiff of warm laundry on the breeze from a dryer vent somewhere on the closest residential street. So much so that I had to reapply it when I got home to figure it out and was surprised to find that even the laundry note was coming from the ambrette in the perfume, not just the house I walked past. A lovely scent!

Opens with sort of a tiger balm accord, and there is definitely mint in here, which cools the skin and eyes. This gradually transitions into a soft pine, then into sort of a "whole tree" accord, complete with sap, bark, cones and a touch of turpentine. There are a LOT of Pineward fragrances, and the differences can be very small between them. That is part of their intrigue - the perfumer/owner uses all different pine species and parts to create very subtle palettes, highlighting the nuances of each species. Fascinating. From a "wearing" point of view, however, no one other than the wearer would be able to smell the difference between this, Fangorn, Boreal or many others in this line, and you will literally smell like a pine tree to most observers. These are true afficianado fragrances, and the company makes this kind of analysis easy with excellent sampler options. If you love pine, you need to try this company. This one is one of my favorites so far.

This one smells like a tree bark, dry leaves and pine needles. Real smell of a forest. Most realistic scent I've came across in a while. Not a deep, dark, heavy scent like many others in this category. Imagine warm late fall day in the forest. Yellow leaves start to fall, you feel little breeze on a face while you lean on a tree. It's a first day I have tested it and a work colleague went nuts, when she passed me down the hall. Mind you she knew about my hobby and past 2 years, had to smell over 50 niche fragrances on me but never said a word. My other loves from this house are Fanghorn and Murkwood. I had a chance to smell two unreleased fragrances (thank you Nick) and Christmas Wine is really promising. Have to test it on a skin but I'm impressed how it smells on a paper. I really recommend checking in this house. If you looking for a forest scent that is realistic, natural, you will find it here.

Very minty and piney at first. Smells very masculine to me, reminiscent of a grandfather but not in a bad way. Maybe more a distinguished professor, late 40s, philosophy professor... that kind of thing. It really is very piney, I think the musk is what gives it the mature-masculine scent to my nose. I will now clarify that I think this is a phenomenal smell. Its very relaxing and mellow to my nose, pleasant and comforting. I wouldn't say it cannot lean feminine if layered with something sweeter and smelled on the right person; a lot of my other products are masculine leaning and might be coloring my perception of it. Over all recommend but sample it first since I feel its more than the sum of its parts.

The most interesting thing here is the sweet decaying leaf accord, that is very evocative of spring and autumn. This is most apparent in the opening and it slowly fades to a more woody cedar forward base, with just a touch of musk. I would prefer more musk. Some light spices, mostly cinnamon, help warm the composition and steer it toward perfume and away from pure scent experiment. This is a fairly airy scent and the performance seemed weak at first, but it surprises you with its staying power. Still, I would say this is mostly a personal scent, good for casual wear, but out of place in a suit. Overall a fairly charming scent. A strong like and possible purchase for me.

The pine is strong here, but more than that it is a very sappy and sweet smell. Almost sickly sweet. If you have ever had pine bud syrup (it is very popular in my country), it is IDENTICAL in scent. Like 100% the same. I enjoy it because i immediately recognize the scent, otherwise i would probably say it is too sticky and sweet.

Really dry and realistic woods with a touch of pine needles. Like a woodworker sawing up some lumber in clearing in the forest on a sunny day. Not dark at all like some of the others in the line.

Heavy pine note upfront recedes into greenery and woody. Reminds me of walking through a forest.

Didn't get any cat pee scent myself. The Pine note in this one is less overwhelming than in Oxylus, but i liked this one less. The subtle smell of damp logs or fungi might be what others were referencing, but I didn't get ammonia, and have been looking for the earthy vibe. Sadly I think this will be the story of all the Pineward scents - an interesting idea that is decently done, but without enough lasting power and stillage to be worth investing in. The pine has the front but everything is subdued so it loses some identity. Overall 6/10 Stillage (scents are quiet on me) 3.5/10 Longevity - 3 hours I appreciate trying new things but I need some lasting power.

Poplar (yikes, it's like the worst-case patchouli note possible) and pine. The most jungle dirty patchouli I have encountered. Nothing big but also unique. Might be my least favorite of the forest house. I keep overusing the word "unique" to describe the scents from this brand every bottle is literally different combination of pine/ fir and something else.

One of the lighter-smelling and more versatile Pineward fragrances. It's only slightly sweet, but otherwise reminds me of a holiday candle. I like the scent, except its projection is low and I seem to sweat it off pretty quickly. And like other pineward perfumes, it will stain light clothes.

i tried to like this one but I cant opening was bad dry down is mediocre to me it just smells like woodchip bags in the garden center in a LOWES with some green notes in the background 5.2/10

Pine and will stain your clothes like most of the other Pinewards.

There is a strong top note that smells like urine to me. And not fresh urine either. Had to wash it off. Some people think cilantro tastes like soap...

I revisited my sample of bindebole recently, which has been sitting in a box in the closet for several months. When I first got it, I remember finding it more tolerable than fanghorn 2, but not necessarily wearable, so when I pulled out my pineward samples for Halloween this year (wanted to wear gristmill and katabolic with my costume), I decided to give bindebole another sniff. I thought maybe it would work better as an atmospheric scent where it would have room to spread out, so I did one tiny spritz in the air in my bathroom and immediately gagged. The cat pee smell seemed to have concentrated and intensified to unbearable levels. I heard my husband (from the bedroom) asking "ugh what's that smell?", and in a panic thought maybe I could neutralize it with a better smell. I grabbed "autumnal" and did a small spritz. The air immediately turned to syrupy waffles soaked in cat pee, then spread everywhere. We turned on fans and opened windows, but it stuck around just as dense and overwhelming as when I first sprayed it. Coming home from work the next day, I still smelled waffles and cat pee when I walked into the bedroom. My husband, who experiences many scents differently than me, also thought it smells like cat pee and waffles. That being said, Gristmill and Katabatic were fantastic. To clarify, Fanghorn 2 also gave me cat pee, but I gave my sample to a friend who loved it.

Ok. I got a sample set of these (most of which aren't even on Fragrantica yet) as part of my advent calendar (how much does my wife love me?). I got this today. Yes, SUPER, realistic pine. Just a bit of smoke. I am a naturalist and I don't know what a poplar bud smells like (but I am going to try and find out this spring). I get LOTS of pine, LOTs of green notes and I would say just a bit of smoke and wetness. I am LOVING all of these Pineward scents and will certainly have a hard time deciding which couple I want to own. They all smell somewhat similar (as you would expect from a place called Pineward) but NONE of them have in any way seemed unworthy of buying. Very wearable. A safe blind buy if you want something pine-forward. Actually, ANY of their line would be safe if you want something pine-forward.

8th sample from pineward! this one smells clean woody and piney, nothing much to say about it. 5/10, the longevity is so poor, becomes a skin scent after 10 mins and lasts like 2.5 hours haha, wouldnt purchase

I got a Pineward sample set and think this is my favorite so far! It’s the most realistic of their offerings, straight up forest through and through. Very warm and natural.
