Fanghorn II

I LOVED this one. “Photorealistic” is the correct word. It reminded me of being outside as a kid, playing in creeks in the woods that surrounded my childhood home.

Okay, so, I will be one hundred percent honest. I didn’t mean to get this frag. I originally ordered “Funerie” but “Fanghorn II” arrived instead, I got it sorted with Pineward’s customer service (they have great customer service by the way) and they’re sending me the frag that I originally wanted free of charge :) That being said, this frag is quite pleasant, but it gives me a dull headache. It smells like a walk in the forest right after it rained. It may be my imagination, but I do smell a little bit of smoke in this frag, it isn’t overpowering or anything but it’s definitely there. This frag is very dark in color, so be wary when spraying around lightly-colored clothing as it may stain. All in all, for an accidental delivery, I’d give this a 7/10.

A really beautifully done scent, the closest to photorealism I've experienced in any perfume. The initial spray smells of cold dewy moss covered ground, the barest hint of wood smoke from last night's camp fire. As it settles and warms on the skin I realize it's not wood smoke, but the smell of actual wood, pine and fir bark, not needles. Spray this and then go sit outside for awhile. It takes me back to backpacking in Alaska, sleeping in a patch of thick moss and lichen, opening my tent to a crisp morning and everything is wet with dew.

Fresh but dark, fresh but dirty... a mossy and earthy pine scent. The feel here isn't like high-level turpentine, it's more like the smell of wet earth in the shade under a pine tree. It also has a very nostalgic quality to it. Liked it but the drydown is much more sweetish than I expected. Tag(s): dirty, fresh, mossy, earthy

Earthy, mossy, muddy. I like it.

Mossy fir, oh this one is the most mossy of the forest house. Very dirty, damp, slightly minty fresh, slightly sweet, dark, old, ancient, mossy and green algae jungle energy in the best way possible. Has a good sillage and longevity. A wearable stink bottle. Edit: i keep looking at the juice in this thing and think to myself of how septic it looks, and it smells like it too....in a good way.

earthy, damp, and sweet. my favorite from pineward so far! there's a little something in there that confuses me - it's something bitter, kind of like coffee grounds? maybe part of the "dirt" vibe. i don't dislike it though. sadly the damp mossy notes fade very quickly for me, but it dries down to a very wearable sweet piney fragrance. it's also not necessarily a christmassy, spicy pine which i love - i'm enjoying wearing it in the summer!

Holy cow. One spray is too much. Might need to dabble this instead. I remember vividly visiting The Pantheon in Paris, where the crypt of Marie Curie lies downstairs. This is that smell. The smell of death and eternity. Will spray when I go to a funeral. Hopefully not too often.
