Skin Smell Rating: VERY piney. Piney and green. Almost astringent but backs off just enough as the initial dry down starts. Clearly warm skin/chemistry here has impacted the first scent in a very positive way. Glad I did a skin test. Dry down to the citron and tobacco came quick and is lovely but the initial Pine i loved seems to have moved far into the background. I’m hoping the greenness returns though. But I may have found just a lovely non-green scent for an everyday-ish smell. After 2 hours light citron and tobacco make this not gourmand but almost edible. I could even see this as a sheet spray. It smells mature, unisex. Truly an unexpected find and made me realize that I love whatever was used to capture this tobacco smell as it is a fresh and not smokey tobacco. 5/5 --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Additional notes from test strips below: Notes on Color/Stain Potential: Clear in bottle and clear on test strip First Smells (0-5m) + Rating: Pleasant light pine scent. Not getting any smokiness/peppery smell like the others mentioning Fir. 4/5 Second Smells (15-30m) + Rating: Fir made an appearance. Really seemed to come out of nowhere based on the first smell. It is still very very light and is truly background so far and not a star. A little bit of the musk and citron developing is coming through. 4/5 Third Smells (2 hours) + Rating: This landed int ao very floral-like scent but not feminine to my nose, very natural. maybe I just don’t know what citron and tobacco smell like. Fir is ever so slightly still present but very smooth. 4/5 Next Day Smell Rating: The tabacco and citron have not taken center stage but are equal players with the pine. This gets a skin test. 4/5 Overall Rating (Average of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Next Day): 4

Many Pineward fragrances reference similar notes, but--in my experience, at least--tend to embody distinctly different moods. Many of those moods are fairly contemplative. But Greymist, contrary to its name, is *happy*. Something about the combination of the fruitier dimensions of pine, fir, and citron, over the herbaceous underpinning of vetiver, reminds me of Imaginary Authors' In Love With Everything (even though they have not a single note in common), in their shared irrepressible cheerfulness. Greymist is still certainly more mature than ILWE--something like a determindly singing mountain chickadee to the latter's 80's skater-girl. I'd wear Greymist to an administrative meeting, where ILWE is for freewheeling days when I don't have to do anything terribly important. But they're both cheerful. Greymist hits in the middle of Pineward's range of longevity and projection on my skin--longer and stronger than many of the herbaceous fragrances, but definitely not as long or strong as the house's spice-forward offerings. Sprayed in the morning, it's detectable until about lunchtime--perfectly reasonable for something so light and lovable.

This scent definitely benefited from macerating/maturing. I bought a sample and when it first arrived, I sampled it and the smell reminded me of After Shock Liquor. I got strong alcohol and medicinal odors that obscured everything else. I wrote it off and forgot about it for a month or two. I tried it again and the alcohol smell was completely gone. It's a great pine/citrus smell that is really well balanced with tobacco. I ordered a full bottle and I use this daily now as my freshie for spring and summer. I think this is Pineward's most accessible scent. I wear this in the office and it gets compliments. I have layered this with both Pineward's Juniperus and a Burberry Hero Clone both with great results. Update 8-25: Bought a second bottle (32ml) to keep at my office for re-applications. The new bottle came with a beast of an atomizer. I get a solid four to five hours of arm's length silage on two sprays now. Great performance for a freshie scent.

Sampling Pineward Perfumes Greymist, a lovely pine/spruce/fir-centered blend that has raw supporting notes of tobacco and vetiver that together are a bit dark and green, with citron for freshness. It’s has a slightly ozonic quality to it, also, but it’s a coniferous experience first and foremost, with the other elements in support, and, like most of the house’s exploration of woods, feels high-quality and thoroughly-considered. This could easily be an everyday fragrance but nonetheless feels quite specially crafted and very much up to the high standard that the house has set these past few years. This is EDT concentration and has consistent pricing with the rest of the line, at $135/80 for 57/37ml, which I find very reasonable in the current market, particularly for niche/independent perfumery, and it performs very well for a modern EDT, with great longevity and projection. 8 out of 10

This is such a light and fresh green scent with a touch of sweetness to it. It’s an airy sweetness. This has very dry and earthy tobacco blended with fresh pine and bright citron. The musk is strong in this but it’s really enveloping and brings the whole scent together. I feel like this scent has a dampness to it that almost feels like greenhouse air, like if you were to trap the humid air in a freshly watered greenhouse, you’d get this. It’s an incredible smell especially with such fresh green accords. I love this one a ton.

Memory-Evoking, Cool, Calm, Warm, Comforting, Thought-Provoking, Ethereal, and Sexy...Wow! Have been wanting to try this for so long and so glad I finally did. This is a beautiful scent. From the initial spray evoking memories of childhood, opening gifts under the tree on Christmas morning, to the sublime dry down that is like a cross between a comforting hug and pure sexiness. Stunning fragrance, a new gem in my collection.

opened with a strong pine scent [very much like when bringing in the Christmas tree for the first time]. next there's a strong citrus note combined with the pine note. -later drys down to a moderate pine/citrus scent with musk and ventiver notes in the background. has a pretty decent longevity {could smell it on my neck for roughly 3-4 hours} 8.9/10

Can agree with the other reviewers about the vicks-like scent. For some reason my brain keeps associating the mix of pine and eucalyptus with a watery scent. Love this one a lot, one of my favorite scents to wear during these colder months. I look forward to seeing how it performs as the weather warms up.

Opens with a sharp minty/eucalyptus note, thankfully just for 10 minutes. Then a bright but deep blend of conifers and soft tobacco. Smooth and super wearable.

The most realistic, genuine pine tree scent I have found. Reminds me of a sun-soaked PNW forest

I sample good deal of scents but I am no expert sniffer, I'm more worried about overall feeling and the longevity/stillage. I got a sampler of pineward because I love mossy scents. I thought this was a solid scent. I think the Vetiver was the main accord that had staying power. The pine was there but much more subdued than Oxylus (thankfully). Maybe it was the citron opening but it reminded me of some of the aquatic scents that are all over the place, so it made it feel less unique. Stillage (scents are quiet on me) - 3.5/10 Longevity - 3 hours? Decent and worth a try, definitely gives Northwest Pacific coast vibes, but not special enough for me to want a bottle. 6.8/10

It opens up with every note mixing together into a fresh, musty, woody citrus that’s more than the sum of its parts. I can get the doctor office comparison but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Opens up into the wood later but it’s still fresh the whole time. I can see how this one might be polarizing but I enjoy the way no notes overpower the others. To me a lot of fragrances from this house just boil down to the wood notes, so this was a pleasant musty citrus surprise.

very refreshing pine, not earthy at all, tobacco in top note that kinda fades. like not love. would be good as a casual scent 7/10

This might be how it interacts with my skin, but its more musty and floral than what I was expecting. I don't really get a lot of the pine or fir notes. Must/powdery scents always remind me of a grandma's house and the brighter aspects of this doesn't help. Not bad by any means, pleasant, but not for me.

This is has a vetiver blend with something musky-sweet, mossy and grassy-green note. It's has a medium sillage and longitivity. Least fav of the house.

Idk how to describe this one, it just smells weird

Smells Exactly like sitting in a doctor’s office to me. Perfectly captures the smell of the vinyl exam table, antiseptic, tile floors, and fluorescent lights. Wild to me how starkly different my experience of this scent is from everyone else; I don’t enjoy it at all but perhaps it’s all my childhood medical trauma.

I accidentally initially wrote that Gristmill smells like poop, but it was in fact this one. On me it smells like a dirty bathroom with a pine scented air freshener. I think I am discovering that musk is a death note for me. Will not be wearing this one again.
