Katabatic

This is imo underrated. Main accords are also misleading. It should definitely have "fresh Spicy" up in the top 5 and should have the Smoky accord removed. I think this is amazing scent. It is very uplifting, invigorating and energizing. It can also be very mediating type of scent profile. It does remind me a bit of the red tiger balsam. A true aromatherapeutic experience. I think the new revision which has added spearmint absolute and upgraded to cinnamon absolute makes this even better now! Just bought a 52ml full bottle! This will serve well in any season. The materials in this creation is very interesting also. With extracts from the ruby cypress tree, dragons blood resin from the dracaena cinnabari tree which is obtained from the Yemen geography. birch, bergamot, amaretto, cloves, black pepper etc. This is a very nice hybrid of a woody and spicy as well as herbal scent. The reddish color of the juice is alone mesmerizing! 4,5/5 scent wise, Performance is on par with the typicak extraits from pineward, just great!

This is very spice forward with some resinous and camphorous accords, and some warm powderiness. This opens slightly sweet and boozy with a spiced amaretto. You get a blend of spices with a sweet cinnamon, warm cloves, and aromatic black pepper. Then you get some of the dragons blood resin come in along with a lot fresh greenness. It creates a warm and resinous aroma but with a contrast of very fresh and green earthiness. The scent is spiced all throughout but very herbal, green, and fresh with only a hint of sweetness. It manages to be very woody and smooth too with the orris and sandalwood.

This is honestly quite enjoyable... there’s a charming little root beer type of situation going on here . I hate root beer n I hate how it smells lol but here I surprisingly find it pleasant. I don’t think I’d buy this which is sad bc I really do want to own more camphor scents but idk I don’t see myself craving this. But it’s nice ! edit: okay........ this is kinda perfect. i need her........ it’s such a vivacious life enhancing scent like everything else is dull and uninspiring in comparison. The rating 3.5/5 on here is a travesty this is a modern masterpiece #recountthevote !!

heartbreaking to see katabatic leave the pineward site... the birch beer scent is sooo beautiful and totally unique. I only have a little left in my 4ml and I never want to spray it again just to keep the scent alive somewhere.

If you have happy childhood memories attached to 'Birch Beer' then get your nose on this one... It will transport you to another place and time... Wonderful stuff!!!

I get a whole lot of cinnamon from this punctuated by the birch beer others are talking about. Definitely a warm, uplifting fall scent!

I tend to yap a lot in reviews but I’ll keep this pretty simple. Birch beer on a warm summers day at the state fair. Yum. 8.5/10.

This sample (tested on skin) starts off very camphorous. the first 20ish minutes it has a slightly medicinal quality. The alcohol plus the camphor make it a little reminiscent of Vaporub. I personally like the smell of that medicine (though I wouldn't want the entire time of the fragrance to be there, but I like it enough to let it develop further. After 20minutes it moves into a cinnamon/spice area. Here, we move into Big Red gum territory. I personally never enjoyed chewing Big Red, but it is different enough that I’m okay. The final dry down would have to be significantly more to my tastes before I’d consider buying a full bottle. An hour in and we left big red but have moved to a pleasant broader “spicy” scent It feels like I shouldn’t like this perfume but at the end of the day I find myself begrudgingly enjoying. So often, i feel like these perfumes would make for great layering, especially together.. I am unsure if I would ever buy a full bottle at this point but I’ll probably finish the sample. Who know’s maybe i’ll end up deciding to get a dram or something. Honestly, I'm not sure what some of the reviewers experiences to get any sort of "cat pee" scent but this is just a prime example of personal preference and body chemistry making it hard to judge things based solely on another person's experience. If you like warm and spicy give a sample a shot maybe you'll land where I did.
