Acqua di Pino Cologne

this is a blast of citruses, lemon and oranges with a hint of bergamot on the top, it has a kind of Acqua Di Parma resemblance, not the same, but Acqua Di Pino has that vibe that makes this fragrance close to its big brother Acqua Di Parma; the dry down is a good combination of herbal notes and a woody cedar base, like logs piled up on a wet floor of a pine forest, covered with mosses that gives you that woodsy aroma after a morning summer rain; definitely this is a mature alpha male cologne, there's nothing here for the new metrosexual girly boys that love taking a shower in the sweet and feminine fragrances that smell more like their sisters perfume than a man's cologne; Acqua Di Pino is a serious mature cologne for the man with a solid personality and strong character, for the man that stands on his ground and leaves a trail of his presence once he leaves the room. Pure macho scent.

A niche-like idea (not at all like "traditional cologne" of any type I've encountered), but the ingredient quality is not what I would want if I paid $200 or so for such a large bottle (which cost me less than $14 total, so this is not an issue). As another reviewer said, it's sweet and powdery (iris note), along with being spicy, green/herbal, and eventually woody (which is where it "gets cheap," IMO). The citrus is not even that strong at first. I don't like the far drydown much, and after a short while I find myself thinking it's a bit too sweet (not because of the sweetness itself but how it works in the composition, hindering me from fully appreciating the other notes). Good to very good strength. For a similar idea, compositionally (though not a similar scent), there is Ed Hardy's Love Is For Him, which I prefer.

I like this fragrance a lot, especially for the price. I get the ADP Colonia comparison (which I have), but there is something extra in this fragrance I prefer. There is the prominent citrus scent at the top and lingers throughout. What gets me is a pine forest accord that backs the citrus. I smell the scent of a hot, dry, dusty and sun beat stretch of trail through pine trees. I have smelled that scent in the Rockies, the Appalachians, the Adirondacks, and the Alps. Every time I wear this scent I think of hiking in the mountains in the summer. So while the fragrance is a warm weather scent, I use it during the winter for warm memories.

In the above "reminds me of" section....I am getting "touches" of all the scents listed there in this Acqua di Pino scent. IMHO. At first spray...I was hooked....by total surprise....lol..... Simple aromatic scent....herbal-ish...light spice/woods/citrus....This scent just "works" for me. Ok....sillage..in the beginning stages is very good....but it does calm down rather quickly....so the performance is very typical for this "type" of scent and formulation....so I expected that. For $20..4.2 oz.....yeah....it's a nice everyday easy grab scent.....And a pleasant surprise !!

Absolutely Stunning! The subdued citrus freshness with the piney, musky, herbal background is truly beautiful. Rosemary & Sage optimally blended with the ginger. It frees my mind and works miracles at each wearing. Strongly reminds me of West Indian Lime by Crabtree & Evelyn. I get an Oceanside vibe too. One of my all time favorite fragrances!! Stunning performance also, lasts for hours & hours beyond!
