Acqua di Pino Cologne

this is a blast of citruses, lemon and oranges with a hint of bergamot on the top, it has a kind of Acqua Di Parma resemblance, not the same, but Acqua Di Pino has that vibe that makes this fragrance close to its big brother Acqua Di Parma; the dry down is a good combination of herbal notes and a woody cedar base, like logs piled up on a wet floor of a pine forest, covered with mosses that gives you that woodsy aroma after a morning summer rain; definitely this is a mature alpha male cologne, there's nothing here for the new metrosexual girly boys that love taking a shower in the sweet and feminine fragrances that smell more like their sisters perfume than a man's cologne; Acqua Di Pino is a serious mature cologne for the man with a solid personality and strong character, for the man that stands on his ground and leaves a trail of his presence once he leaves the room. Pure macho scent.

A niche-like idea (not at all like "traditional cologne" of any type I've encountered), but the ingredient quality is not what I would want if I paid $200 or so for such a large bottle (which cost me less than $14 total, so this is not an issue). As another reviewer said, it's sweet and powdery (iris note), along with being spicy, green/herbal, and eventually woody (which is where it "gets cheap," IMO). The citrus is not even that strong at first. I don't like the far drydown much, and after a short while I find myself thinking it's a bit too sweet (not because of the sweetness itself but how it works in the composition, hindering me from fully appreciating the other notes). Good to very good strength. For a similar idea, compositionally (though not a similar scent), there is Ed Hardy's Love Is For Him, which I prefer.

I like this fragrance a lot, especially for the price. I get the ADP Colonia comparison (which I have), but there is something extra in this fragrance I prefer. There is the prominent citrus scent at the top and lingers throughout. What gets me is a pine forest accord that backs the citrus. I smell the scent of a hot, dry, dusty and sun beat stretch of trail through pine trees. I have smelled that scent in the Rockies, the Appalachians, the Adirondacks, and the Alps. Every time I wear this scent I think of hiking in the mountains in the summer. So while the fragrance is a warm weather scent, I use it during the winter for warm memories.

In the above "reminds me of" section....I am getting "touches" of all the scents listed there in this Acqua di Pino scent. IMHO. At first spray...I was hooked....by total surprise....lol..... Simple aromatic scent....herbal-ish...light spice/woods/citrus....This scent just "works" for me. Ok....sillage..in the beginning stages is very good....but it does calm down rather quickly....so the performance is very typical for this "type" of scent and formulation....so I expected that. For $20..4.2 oz.....yeah....it's a nice everyday easy grab scent.....And a pleasant surprise !!

Absolutely Stunning! The subdued citrus freshness with the piney, musky, herbal background is truly beautiful. Rosemary & Sage optimally blended with the ginger. It frees my mind and works miracles at each wearing. Strongly reminds me of West Indian Lime by Crabtree & Evelyn. I get an Oceanside vibe too. One of my all time favorite fragrances!! Stunning performance also, lasts for hours & hours beyond!

I’m honestly baffled how does this EDC outlast most of my EDTs and even some EDPs? Acqua di Pino Cologne by Pino Silvestre somehow clings to my skin all day like it’s got something to prove. Bright, green, and clean with that classic barbershop bite. I also get a creamy vibe. Total sleeper hit in my rotation. I need to get a backup bottle por si las moscas. ❤️

Much better than the Fougere. I was kinda afraid of the Iris note, which is my least favorite one, however, in this case it is brilliantly executed. Dry citrus overall with an interesting depth. Refreshing at the same time. Instant classic with a modern touch. For the price an absolutely brilliant winner. A must have, I'd say.

I love this scent, though I didn't like it at first. Unique, sophisticated, all-rounder. H/S not wow but not bad and inexpensive price.

I was looking for a light, refreshing, citrus forward cologne that I could spray in the morning for a bit of a zesty olfactory wakeup. My parameters were light, cologne concentration, lower price, and naturalistic (doesn't smell like pledge or cleaner). I stumbled upon this fragrantica entry, and own and sometimes enjoy the original Pino Silvestre (which doesn't share much, if any, overlap). Due to the low price, and being impressed with OG Pino for the price, I did a blind buy. I think this ended up fitting the bill for what I was looking for almost perfectly. Thank you to the below reviewers, because I think they summed up this scent very well. It's a very dry, herbal citrus which quickly transitions to a waxy iris in the middle and dries down to a warmer musk with a very light, vague "woodiness". If this had a discernable cedarwood note, or it boosted the woodiness somehow, it would be the complete package for me. I solved this however, by layering with CDG Wonderwood. It really does the trick in bringing that forest depth, and the two have a nice synergy. Overall this punches well above it's weight. I also think this is quite versatile, as it doesn't give off a generic men's cologne vibe, or smell like the non-descript amalgamation of aromachemicals you might pick up passing by a department store perfume counter. For that reason I could see this being used as a personal fragrance, room/linen refresher, or to be left out for guests to use on your bathroom counter. The iris note softens this in way keeps this from teetering to any one gender, the citrus is not too loud, it's not headache inducing, and the performance actually is more like an EDT than an EDC. For $20/100ml, an impressive feat. Worth the gamble due to low risk/low price, and it's versatility at as a room/car scent if it doesn't work on your body. EDIT: After spending a little more time with this one, I think the iris mixed with the small touch of powderiness in this one is just a bit too much for me. Which is a shame, because otherwise it would be a glorious cheapie for me. For $20, not the worst gamble, but money is money.

A nice classic Italian cologne that won't break the bank while ostensibly trying for an AdP Colonia vibe. It starts with a blend of sweet orangey bergamot and herbs. I get rosemary and a hint of clary sage, but not as urinous a sage as you might get with other EdCs. There's a rosy component in the mid which shows up as the citruses quickly die off and the orange blends with a powdery iris. This may sound odd, but the heart reminds me of Carpet Fresh. Does anyone remember that powder from the 80's that people would sprinkle on their carpets before vacuuming? Strange memory, I know, but that's how scent burns into our brains. In any case, the drydown gets sweeter and I smell more of a sandalwood than a cedar, while there's a general greenness that plays on the Pino heritage. The orange sweetness and woods blend with a sort of labdanum accord tied together with coumarin. It's a classic profile and a classic scent. It's not something that sets one's heart on fire, but it smells nice and it's hardly a bad option for those of us that enjoy old school colognes. PS: in regards to the parsley note mentioned below, I've gotten comments of "cilantro" from people around me. There's some kind of green leafy herb in there for sure.

For anyone still on the fence like I was, it's basically Ferrari's Bright Neroli with a massive dose of freshly cut cilantro. And I don't just mean basically, I mean EXACTLY. Honestly astonished that so few people have mentioned it thus far. I've been cooking with cilantro for years and even own Bright Neroli and AdP's Colonia Essenza so I can say it with utter certainty. The comparisons with Essenza are also justified because of the floral musk that Maffei used and there's a tinge of that signature PS pine accord in there too; but the overall effect is ridiculously obvious. More natural smelling than most of the offerings from PS, but if you don't like cilantro, chances are you won't like this. A heavy metal detox in a bottle.

Up top, I get all the citruses listed, but it quickly settles into a realistic, slightly bitter orange peel fragrance with a good-sized dose of waxy iris. In the drydown I get an Italian parsley note similar to what I smell in Eau De Rochas Homme, which lasts to the end. The cedar is a no-show for me, which is a bit of a bummer, and longevity is 3-4 hours on my skin. AdPino EdC is nice, but not quite as refreshing as I had imagined. Definitely worth a shot for the price, as it is different from other classic eaus de cologne in my collection. The prominent green elements make it perfect for rainy spring and summer days.

Loads of citrus – especially orange – with herbs and ginger. Very bright and slightly sour at the top, and that’s pretty much how the scent stays until the musk comes in to soften it up a bit. The major presence of the herbs and spices gives off a slightly medicinal vibe, but this is classic thru and thru. Surprisingly good performance for an Eau de Cologne concentration as well. I’m not sure who voted it as being similar to Prada L’homme but that’s completely false. Of the two new Acqua di Pino releases, this is the most classic smelling.

Pino Silvestre Acqua di Pino Cologne..... a perfect spring fragrance with all the citrus tickeling your nose. It leads to a soft warm and creamy floral centre with a touch of spice where the iris and ginger play well together. It has its own character but it also reminds me a little bit of Giorgio Armani eau d'Aromes just a bit less concentrated and Acqua di Parma. For a cologne it is quite long lasting considering that a cologne sits basically just above an aftershave strengthwise. Nice soft day time fragrance.

Clean citrus opening followed by a dry, crisp, pine and citrus drydown. Faint hints of ginger and iris. It feels like a walk through an Italian beachside forest. Not the beach or typical Italian citrus groves, but through a gentle piney forest. I get the comparison to Armani Pour Homme and ADP Colonia, but this is less sweet...more dry and piney. It's a subdued scent tho with weak sillage, but given the incredible value, just spray more or more often. Very nice. Scent: 8, Sillage: 6, Longevity: 6

Aqua Di Pino Cologne - The bottle is nice and represents the scent (like it's brother Fougere - the green). The opening is more lemonish and reminds me a very old barber-shop with the gentlemen with the hats and it is very nostalgic. Later is the iris with the other notes who make it more contemporary. It is a very pleasant scent and I noticed it is very calming + relaxing too! I think Pino Silvestre don't make any bad scents! Well done!!

I can not say this is the best fragrance but for the money i paid it is,longevity in cold weather at the moment is around 6h ,projection around 2h ,,, Very light citruses ,good for someone to wear for office or meetings,not offensive like many other does...I love this scent especially in the morning after shower ,so fresh ,,,

This is a remarkably fresh and pleasant fragrance. Well worth the <$20 you’ll pay. Classic cologne that performs like an EDT. Can’t overstate how unexpectantly pleasant this is. I like this a lot. 9/10 Smell

I had high hopes for this one. Pino Sport is a favorite of mine and a top-notch uplifting, casual citrus aromatic with masculine underpinning, and I expected something similar from Acqua di Pino Cologne. Not even close. As reviewers said below, the citrus exudes nicely on top but then quickly burns off and at that point it reminds me of Bottega Veneta Illusione, which is one I didn’t care for. It then settles in immediately as a skin scent that barely lasts, even with a heavy hand on the trigger. And that skin scent is rather dark, non-descript and bland—except for a twinge of parsley, as noted by Orochi. I can visit my nonna’s garden if I want that vibe. If you want an amazing piney citrus fragrance, I recommend Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Essence Aromatique for a wonderful experience.

The opening is very bright and zesty, just like Eau Sauvage or Colonia, but the greens and herbs are more pronounced with a "spiky" feel from the Pine and Cilantro. The drydown is not as soapy as others, but a bit spicier and creamier. It's okay, and good for the price, but smelling it up close gives it a harsh and sharp feel. Better smelled wafting through the air.

First, it is amazingly cheap. Amazon gets it to you in a couple of days for under $20 with tax as of when I tried this out. It doesn't smell bad but isn't for me. Very heavy soap vibes for me. I associate it with "nice laundry". So I like it, just not on me. Probably a nice easy gift for a young guy trying to sample things.

For the top note, I get a harsh, alcohol blast of a 'sweet' orange; then, later ;then, some herbal notes. To me; the fragrance is fresh, in a 'cheap' manner.

This really doesn’t work on my skin. It’s so zesty and stingy. Not for me, but nice that so many people love it. The Fougere version is much better IMO.

At 20 bucks on Amazon I thought 'what the hell', and pulled the trigger based off of comparisons to the beloved soapy ADP Colonia, but I only get that faintly. In the opening I get the blast of orange. On the dry down I definitely get the cilantro accord others have mentioned. I guess from the rosemary and sage. This should have been named 'Acqua di Cilantro'... Love cilantro, but not sure I want to smell like it... Not what I expected, but will give it a few wearings this summer and report back, but I sense the cilantro association will turn me off on this one. Update: After getting some air in the bottle and letting it steep a bit the cilantro is less pronounced, but still there. What remains of the scent is very pleasant and I want to like it. Will give it some wear this summer at the lake when I'm by myself.

There's several fragrances that didn't agree with me for one reason or another but the number of scrubbers, I can count on one hand. This is one of them. Is it sweet, perky, zippy and zingy? Yes. Too much. Way too much. This might layer well with Lagerfeld, if you want to come across like a citrusy H-bomb (who knows, there might be such an occasion) but the Big L should tone this down some and that would be a good thing. On its own, the sweetness is both cloying and undying, especially when the powdery iris wakes up. Gah! For me that's bad enough, but the worst part is that I never get anything that I recognize as pine, cedarwood, or anything woody or herbal to balance out the sweet. I was hoping this would be better than the disappointing Fougere but so far, it's worse. Maybe aging the bottle will help but I'll probably ditch it. Live and learn. PS Also getting zero cilantro here. I almost wish I did.

Oh dear, I'm going against the grain here, I'm afraid I can not stand this! I've never had to wash a fragrance off but I dislike this that much. What a shame because I had high hopes for Aqua Di Pino Cologne, thinking I'd find a hidden gem. I really don't appreciate the sharp, harsh even, citrus, rosemary, and ginger opening, on paper it should work but the balance is all off. I hate reading when fragrances are compared to cleaning products or to air fresheners but that pretty much surmises Aqua Di Pino Cologne, especially when the prominent and irritating pine note kicks in. After 90 minutes of smelling pine I threw the towel in, on another day gave it another try and reached a firm conclusion. Maybe Aqua Di Pino Cologne is one for the old school scent connoisseurs but not for 99% of the rest of us.

I truly enjoy this one. It is similar to ADP Colonia, but nowhere near the quality and only about 50% accurate. It's unique enough to stand on its own. Perfect for spring and summer, casual, leisure, office. Very subtle, low sillage and projection. I get about 2 to 3 hours with 5 sprays so be sure to decant . For the price, no complaints, just respray. Notes that I can detect during the opening: Orange, lemon, bergamot, rosemary and ginger. Lemon, rosemary and musk on the dry down. Iris might be the very subtle powdery effect. What is the cilantro nonsense though? It's not even a listed note, nor do I detect it period! What an echo chamber in here lol. It's so common to see others repeat the same thing to the point that it's boring. Overall rating: 7/10

A wonderful and exceptionally inexpensive citrus aromatic scent. The orange, ginger, and cedarwood (with a hint of rosemary) create the lovely olfactory illusion of a coniferous forest on a beautiful sunny day--this made me feel like I was hiking along the Columbia Gorge on a fresh and bright fall day. The musk allows for a clean, smooth finish. And yes, as someone said below, they get the iris note right so that it does not smell like lipstick. I recommend this to anyone who loves retro men's fragrances.

Blind bought this on impulse on a hot day for $16. Unfortunately, I do get the cilantro vibes, because this is herbal but also kind of damp/musty. I have been known to enjoy some damp musty vetiver a but this one isn’t hitting me right. Might use it for the car.
