Gilded Fox

I bought the variety mini roll on pack at Sephora to try out since their bottles and display are so cool looking and this was the first scent I tried and it's a winner! This is a delectable and edible natural cocoa powder gourmand without the horrible synthetic harsh notes that cause headaches and doesn't have a monster projection which I find a lot of gourmands have. I sprayed this on my wrist and ate a bag of chips and every time I opened my mouth I would slightly taste some of the cocoa notes emanating in the air near my wrist and it tasted naturally sweet and good like real food. The cocoa notes are well blended with everything else for a soft seamless cozy scent that lasted on my wrist overnight. I am very impressed because cocoa is not a scent that has been very successfully been the focus of a perfume in my opinion without it getting too coconutty which I hate.

It's not exactly what I expected, but still good for what it is. The cacao is the most obvious note the first seconds I apply it. You would think it's going to be a warm chocolatey gourmand with some wood in the back, but no. It dries down pretty much to rum and lots of cedar. The butter is never present as literal butter, but might be rounding out those notes the way vanilla does in other perfumes. On me, it basically smells unisex. It's warm and cozy, something I'll be wearing a lot in the fall. It reminds so much of White Fox by Solstice Scents, for those who have smelled it. I think it's just because of that cedar note.

It's like I'm walking around in a powdered cocoa rum cloud. I LOVE this fragrance. Pinrose has some winners for me- I also love Pillowtalk Poet and Cuddle Punk, and secret Genius is ok, too. Gilded Fox is very warm. It makes me feel cozy. Cocoa is really distinct to me and in a very good way- I think a lot of chocolate scents have more of a vanilla bean or coconut vibe? But this is unmistakeable. really lovely.

This fragrance is such an underrated gem. Definitely the longest lasting and most unique of the Pinrose offerings IMO. Very chocolatey and boozy with some beautiful amber waves, but somehow still elegant and different. Can't get enough of it and wish it were available in a larger bottle.

Gilded Fox is my favorite fragrance by Pinrose. It smells like hot cocoa with rum on my skin. It isn't overly sweet or cloying. This is a perfect fall/winter fragrance. Fortunately, I get 8+ hours of wear with this so the longevity is not an issue for me. The sillage is fairly moderate.

Sweet milk chocolate with some bourbon barrel and marshmallow notes. This is a playful woodsy gourmand. Great for layering with other warm and woodsy fragrances; my favorite is to layer with By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela or Aquolina Pink Sugar.

A blind buy that I LOVE. A definite unicorn, there. I get cocoa, the spiciness of the cardamon, the butter makes it a bit creamy and the cedar grounds it with a little sharpness. The amber seems to ride in the background instead of taking over on me.

I'm totally in love with the chocolate rum part of this. I was surprised at how how well it mixed with me. It immediately puts me in a better mood. I'm a fan forever of this Pinrose scent. I also like Cuddle punk and Secret Genius !

Cocoa powder + rum. Deeeee-lightful. Even better when layered with Secret Genius.

I have this perfume and I love it. I’m obsessed with and always on an endless quest for the perfect spicy, boozy chocolate perfumes (aqualina’s chocolovers has always been a favorite too), and this one is not my absolute *perfect* ideal of this type of gourmand, but I do really love it and reach for it most days during fall. It’s a spicy, woody, boozy chocolate, it’s mature for an edible gourmand and it has dimension and layers. Initially it’s very chocolate up front, the spice is there immediately and so is the rum. The chocolate aspect is alllmost, tootsie roll? In a way...but not like in a cheap immature way! I never really notice the floral aspects to it, but I guess I can detect it slightly if I really inhale. The dry down is very woody and still chocolate...it reminds me of eating a fudgesicle when you get down to the stick and can really taste the wood with the chocolate. I don’t totally love that part but I don’t hate it. Like I said I’m still in search of my ultimate, perfect, ideal boozy spiced chocolate scent. But I will continue wearing this one in the fall until I find an even better one. It makes me feel sexy, seductive and opulent, even witchy.

Got a sample in the towelette form of this with my sephora order.. must say upon opening the pack my nose curled a bit I got hit with a huge blast of almost synthetic like cocoa.. I said ok maybe the skin with play a diff story. so I applied.. at first I was like nuh uh no still smells the same.. then a few moments later it was like oh hello what's this emerging. You get the most intoxicatingly beautiful hypnotic cocoa-nilla mix. It's like opening a new box of chocolate cake mix & then splashing in a bit of rum and vanilla extract for flavor..think rum balls..it's has a smooth whimsy merged with a devilishly-sexy vibe, though slightly synthetic it still balanced with a level of quality. It's deff. foody I also get a slight powderiness from it. deff a fun/ intriguing scent, Pinrose is good for that, not sure if I'd leap for a full bottle (think I may get sick of it after a while) but I could see deff. getting the towelettes.

Sometimes there is a fragrance you just can't classify as reminding you of something else. You think you have the name right there in your head, but then it's gone before you can take note of it. That's how Gilded Fox was for me. Then I realized the reason I couldn't place it with a fragrance was because the scents I was thinking about were all foods! This fragrance is a fun one for fall. It's boozy and chocolatey like a spiked hot chocolate or chocolate cake, but it's creamy enough to make sure no one thinks you're a drunk. I seriously want this just so I can sit by a fire, sip hot chocolate, and go to corn mazes and smell this while I do so. It's really unique and really suitable for fall, and it's got a little bit of sexy in there as well. Pinrose did it again! What a fun and well-balanced effort! I'm definitely getting to be a fan of their work.

The first time sampling this I was immediately transported into a place memory more strongly than any fragrance I've experienced yet. It was in a ski chalet, while the snow was being groomed between sessions, resting on the sofas by the fire with full view of the glittering slopes. On the sound system came "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin (already a decades old classic by then but the first time of my hearing it), and I finally understood why all the teenage boys around me talked about wanting to master it on their guitars. A sublime moment of novelty and first times that I was grateful to have surface again for me. So, I snapped this pretty up to have for my collection. It's deliriously boozy, definitely luxurious, and divinely suited for snowy white winter nights.

There are gourmands that still smell like a perfume. Then, there are gourmands that straight up smell like something edible. Gilded Fox will make you want to nibble on your arm if you’re not careful. To me, it smells like a cross between a white Nestle Crunch bar and fresh baked rum cake. As an aquatics/green scents fanatic, Gilded Fox is everything I typically avoid in a fragrance. Yet, I have to admit I kind of like this one. I think part of the issue is that I live somewhere that’s hot 9-10 months out of the year, and this is definitely a cold weather scent. I could see myself giving this another shot around Christmas time, or maybe Valentine’s Day. It has that holiday dessert kind of vibe. If you like Prada Candy or Cartier Baiser Fou, you might give this a shot.

Warm and cozy. Similar feel to 'By the Fireplace' by Maison Martin Margiela or 'Boyfriend' by Kate Walsh. It doesn't have the smokiness of the first and it is a little more sparkly than either than those. It is also sweeter and more 'glam'. The rum and the cocoa notes are the most prominent, followed by amber warmth. Nice for fall or winter. Too heavy for spring or summer. The scent card says 'sips like spiked hot cocoa,' which is fitting. This would be perfect if you wanted to feel as if you were clean and a bit made up, but wrapped up in a cashmere blanket with a decadent cup of something sweet, hot, and boozy, while fresh sparkly clean snow was glimmering outside the window.

(Based on the "petal" sampler, may be different aerosolized) The initial hit is just a blast of Kahlua liquer mixed in hot cocoa. My skin gradually draws out the cedar note to combine into something kind of root-beer-ish but more chocolatey (my skin emphasizes cedar notes veeery heavily so I wouldn't expect it to be a focal point in general). It's mild in strength but shouldn't be headache inducing. Good for middling weather conditions, not too hot or cold (spring/fall) and good for day to night. This is a good unisex scent. Edit: After 7ish hours it has dried down to a very faint cocoa butter lotion scent. Pleasant enough.

Gilded Fox, which I discovered just last fall (2019) satisfies my chocolate cravings because it's not too literal, not too sweet, lasts long enough not to overpower my senses, yet still isn't fleeting. Up front I get the cocoa note, the cardamom, and the butter. Later the boozy note comes forward with the cedar. Finally, the amber and vetiver set in and yet throughout, the cocoa note still floats along. This is a chocolate that isn't a candy bar. Instead, imagine a sly, woodland creature having found your goodie stash.

A beautiful fall fragrance that gets better with time. I had a bottle and the first time I sprayed it I didn’t love it, the notes didn’t meld well, but come back to it a few months later and it’s a lovely cross between a spicy cardamomy wood and a liqueury gourmand featuring vanilla, cocoa and booze notes. Put them all together and it reminds me of a much less harsh and over the top By the Fireplace crossed with Angels Share. Totally unisex with good sillage and longevity, lasts about 7-8 hours on skin.

I initially did not like this fragrance because it's SO CHOCOLATEY! I felt like a walking, talking slice of cake every time I wore it. But I've found that when I pair it with my more woody perfumes, the chocolate really compliments them and that spicey cardamom smell becomes a lot more apparent. Wouldn't buy it to wear just on its own, but the little sample I have has served me well.

Very very very Woody. It's chocolate wood for the first 20 minutes and then you're left with straight wood. It's nice if you like Woody fragrances. I personally find it comforting. But I wouldn't call it a gourmand. I agree with the review that it's synthetic. The wood smells like synthetic wood but it's nice none the less.

A cardamom and amber fragrance that is a dead ringer, although slightly more subdued than, ELDO 'Remarkable People'. Still trying to find a true original by this house.

While I'm not sure this perfume is for me, it did have an interesting story too it and lasted all day - albeit very close to the skin. The opening notes were a burst of dry chocolate, and this was perhaps my favorite moments of wear. The chocolate faded quickly, though, into something that reminded me of a Frankincense/Myrrh mix, even though those aren't notes in it. I think it was the amber taking the front, as it was rich, warm, and smelled 'golden.' I wouldn't call it "spicy," per se, but it was cozy. It was just a shade sour smelling on me to like, for my personal tastes, but I could see someone who likes warm woods and fragrant oils liking it. This was the bulk of wear, and lasted quite a long time, albeit I had to hold my nose an inch or two away to smell it. The last couple of hours, it dried down to a dusty cedar, which was an interestingly pleasant and unobtrusive smell, as if someone laid our cedar planks on a distant bonfire. I think I might have grown to dislike it had it been a stronger scent, actually, but as a mild skin scent it was nice. As it was all facing to near non-existent, even as a skin scent, another gorgeous burst of chocolate came through, like an evening cup of cocoa. So far, this is the most interesting of the Pinrose scents I've tried, even if it's not for me. I might try it later layered with a sweeter caramel type scent, to see if I can round it out, as it's a tad sour and too unisex for my personal tastes as it is.

This is a woody, slightly boozy cocoa with a bit of cardamom spiciness. Cozy and comforting for fall days and curling up by the fire. The drydown is a little too masculine for my taste overall.

Boozy hot cocoa is what it smells like, a little too gourmand for me to want wear anywhere but at home on a cold day with the dog curled up next to me.

complex and cozy at first, but then mellows and becomes more sweet, almost sickly sweet after awhile.

I really loved this scent initially but I keep smelling a thick plastic note in this that overpowers what could've been a beautiful spiced chocolate. It has a lovely cardamom note along with the chocolate and a bit of booze but it's like I'm smelling it all through thick cellophane. I'm not sure if it's due to the plastic from the bottle somehow seeping into the perfume itself or due to a synthetic musk or fixative but I find that the plastic is always there hovering in a thick layer on the surface. I'm not sure if anyone else is getting that though. It could just be me.

I wanted to like this so much. The combo of notes sounded so wonderful. Alas, this smells like cocoa powder and bug spray on me. I was disappointed. It smells nice on one of my daughters, though.

Smelled like a generic, spicy masculine fragrance to me. It is not my style.

I get chocolate mint from this

This smells like a cheap, chemical assault to the senses. Someone smelled an older man wearing classic Old Spice and tried to re-create it in a dollar store lab. Sharp, masculine, and chemical.

Cardamom, rum, woody, cocoa fans this I it! I absolutely adore the scent of cardamom and cocoa and this nailed it. I love paring this with my palmers cocoa butter lotion and OMGG it’s divine. The lasting power is not the best I get about 4 hours a maximum of 5, but I truly enjoy this scent so much that I do not mind reapplying. What I smell: The first thing my nose picks up is cardamom, then rummy woody cocoa with some buttery vanilla notes. Then about 2hours in the woody notes come out more, and at the 5hour mark I get an extremely faint vanilla skin scent. After 8 hours I smell nothing on my skin if I don’t layer it with anything. Overall I adore this scent for cold nights, it’s my signature for Halloween, men compliment this scent on me and ask what it is so they can buy it for their partners. For me it is hard to find a cardamom scent, and I really do enjoy this for what it is. I absolutely love this fragrance, but, but I will say I cannot wear this in warm weather. I took this with me to vacation in Miami and wore it one night and I got a terrible headache, and oof no no. Besides that this is wonderful! Overall 9/10 Longevity 6/10 -5hrs top (you can layer to stretch it but longevity is lacking) Projection 7/10 Versatility 4/10 (to me it is only cold weather appropriate).

We all love scent and that's why we are here. But let's face it, most perfumes are just mediocre and that's why when we discover something truly outstanding we want to sing it's praises. Unfortunately that's not Gilded Fox. Deep, pleasant spicy scent, with excellent base notes of vetiver and amber. I also pick up a bit of a synthetic, chemical smell, but I'm not sure which note it's coming from. It will work in all seasons if you like oriental gourmands But I have two points to make: this kind of scent is so common these days. In fact, I can list several others in my collection that are alike. And all of them have much better performance. Secondly, the Pinrose line really behaves more like an EDT than a EDP on my skin. I get 1.5 hours tops and then it's a skin scent (I know, they are made for layering..... but still.) For a little more money you can buy something similar, but more unique with much better longevity and projection. And you won't have to layer it. After all, if you need to buy two bottles you're better off investing that same amount into one really good perfume. And that's why Gilded Fox is just another mediocre offering. I still like it, but I won't be purchasing it.

@ chridela I get great projection & moderate+ longevity... mine is this really red juice in a clear glass bottle, I know that it’s real because I bought it from their site (50ml) ... it’s a very odd choice & I’m glad my favorite color is black because when I spray it on my wrists it’s deep orange! I’ve had her for a year, I prefer her now than I did when unboxed so perhaps that oxidation & time to mature made the difference, I’ve got to spray it on something white ... any wager it stains... I like to wear her with vanilla romance, saves some coin going in with a mist when I want more, I’m a serial over sprayer. Nothing worn on my skin seems to last. So I prep my skin with a balm I’ve made with some perfume related ingredients that are used in compositions to aid in all manner of performance as well as amplify the intensity of all the notes ... soon I will make it available, must be perfected to the umpteenth degree & im toying with the addition of another additional ingredient... it works like gangbusters though

I received a decant of this from Scentbird (along with two other chocolate fragrances) and this was my favorite of the bunch. I was worried the chocolate might smell too synthetic, but not at all. I get lots of buttery cocoa, warm spices, and vanilla. The dry down was definitely reminding me of something that I couldn't place, until I went back to my tester of Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, and realized that these smell very similar on me, at least in the dry down. Funny, because according to Fragrantica, they share zero notes in common, and Gilded Fox doesn't even have Vanilla listed in the notes. Gilded Fox is not as heavy as Un Bois Vanille, so I'm more comfortable wearing it in warmer weather than UBV, but GF is also more apt to change on my skin depending on the day (?), I've tried it several times this week and sometimes I LOVE it, other times it can smell a bit sour.

im not generally into sweet scents, but i'm really into this one. the vetiver kind of grounds everything, makes it a little fresher, and there's a kind of boozy vibe somewhere in the background? bear with me here, im new to fragrance vocab. i dunno. not a fav, but i wanted something that other people would like on me, and this fits the bill. lasting time is ok, maybe 5 or 6 hrs, but it keeps pretty close to the skin. one weird thing: the copy on the box called this scent "sexy?" on me it mostly smells like hot chocolate. delicious and cozy, but not exactly arousing? am i missing something? anyway, solid 7/10, especially for the price, looking forward to smelling sweet and slightly alcoholic during the cold weather.

This is a lovely gourmand, all cocoa and dusky evenings...warm, luscious and sweet without being child like. I normally do not love sweet fragrances but this is so deep and musky on me as it develops, I can't help but love it. Another big bonus for me is the fact it smells remarkably similar to Jo Malone's discontinued Blue Agave and Cacao scent; one that absolutely loved my body chemistry and I received so many compliments when I wore it. The perfume rep at Sephora said the nose behind this fragrance also used to work for Jo Malone, so.... Maybe we can thank him for letting Blue Agave and Cacao live on? Try it. I think you will like it.

This was my first experience with Pinrose fragrances. On me, this starts of as strong and "dirty", almost intolerable unless I spray it down my back or somewhere away from my face/nose. THEN, it slyly turns into something wonderful that you'll find yourself trying to sniff out to see what smells so good. I get no cocoa whatsoever, but plenty of luscious vanilla; warm and bouzy. Seems to last forever on me. After trying this several times, I decided that it needed to be added to my collection. I'm glad that I did.

I like this, but I don't love it. That's mainly because it dries down fairly quickly to a slightly spicy, sawdusty scent on me. I really enjoy the buttery, boozy scent that this opens with along with cacao powder. Unfortunately the buttery smoothness goes away too quickly and I'm left with something dry and raspy (vetiver?) which is an interesting concept (cacao + vetiver) but kind of just turns into sawdust on my skin. It's like the next level from powdery: dusty. This would be better with some more butter XD

The sales associates at Sephora will direct you to this scent if you tell them you're on the hunt for something cozy or chocolatey. You will spray it on a tester. You will say, "Yum." You will dare to spray it on yourself or ask for a sample to try on your skin for later because you're already wearing something. What the sales associate will neglect to tell you is that as delicious as this smells, it will be gone in an hour. You'll no longer smell it. Poof.

Boozy, sweet, slightly woody, this one is really nice in colder rainy days like today. I got the rollerball trial set at Sephora and this one is better than I'd thought it was going to be. I am a fan of this scent, but I haven't decided if I'd spend money on a full bottle yet. I really like Secret Genius and will buy that one for sure. This one and SG last pretty much all day on me, I'm going into almost my 12th hour and I can still detect it on my hand.

I mean, it WAS good the first few seconds. Then I went outside to go to work and by the time I got there it was gone. I was excited to have a chocolatey warm gooey goodness in my collection to help me warm up this winter, but the sample I got from Sephora may go in the garbage since the longevity is so terrible. And I really wanted to like it too, including all the rest of the brand, it seemed so cute.

I wanted to like this, notewise, it is all things I can wear. However, there is something that is acrid on 'off' to my nose. I suspect that I might be able to smell, and DO NOT LIKE the fixatives this house uses, as I've noticed it in other things I've tried from them. Sans that note, it's a really nice boozy, spicy vanilla that is similar to a number of other things I own, but not quite as good.

Like chocolate Easter bunnies. Like the cocoa butter I used when I was pregnant. Like a glass of Ovaltine. Like a stick of butter mashed with brown sugar. Like a hot buttered rum sipped in a warming house. Like a sweater on Christmas morning. Like an oiled beach body. This could be so many things but it is yummy and very long lasting. One of the few Pinrose scents that actually lasts!

Smoke from burnt rubber, petrochemicals and synthetic chocolate first on. Dries gentler to synthetic chocolate with that edge of chemical still and final dry down hours later is Gold Musk; vanilla and musk in a pleasant sugary combination. Lasts all day as a skin scent, but the opening synthetics aren’t great. It isn’t toxic, but it’s very chemical.

A bougee version of Axe Dark Temptation I got when I was a kid. Strong chocolate scent mixed with an alcoholic note from rum. Very sharp and intense yet quite yummy and sits well on my skin. Wore it on a rainy day and it still can smell soft chocolate scent which I enjoy. Would literally consider keeping it!

Deliciously scrumptious for five minutes, at the end of five minutes, it disappears as if never sprayed, but leaves behind a faint whiff of powdery vetiver. But I never get any scent from this house to last more than a few minutes on my skin anyway.

I got this a year ago as a Fall scent, because I loved the Pinrose section at Sephora. After a year, I'm not crazy about the cedar, it is very strong. It's so sweet, it could use a bit of tartness as a counterpart. Can barely smell the cardamom.

Sampled this today and loved the beginning burst of cocoa. Unfortunately it faded quickly and left a vague vetiver/cardamom trail and then poof! it was gone in a flash. Wish I was getting the rum and butter cookie business.

This reminds me of Black Phantom. For the price, it is decent. Notes are as listed by Fragrantica. Unfortunately, the performance is abysmal- minimal sillage and projection - which is too bad because it is a nice gourmand.

Butter cookies and spiced milk chocolate. Slowly fades to amber with remnants of cookies and powdered hot cocoa mix. Lasts all day.
