Moonlight Gypsy

First time trying anything by Pinrose and I have to say I quite like it. It's not what I would call a particularly complex fragrance. It stays very much the same throughout it's lifespan (which is reasonable) but the feelings it evokes makes it very pleasant. It's rich and smokey and smells like an occult shop. It definitely seems like a gypsy would wear it.

Looking at the notes, you'd expect this to smell something like Angel, but it's distinctly different. The patchouli is there, the gourmand chocolate is there, but this is much deeper and spicier to me. The cardamom is what really makes this fragrance. Overall, I'd characterize this as an aromatic gourmand. It's chocolatey, rich, and moderately fruity. It smells like a dark chocolate covered cherry with a boozy red liquid inside, rolled in plenty of ground cardamom. I don't always agree with what the marketing says about fragrances, but this one does remind me of a dark, sweet, mulled red wine. A new fave when it comes to patchouli fragrances. EDIT: This reminds me of Al-Rehab's Al Sharquiah, but in a good way! I didn't like Al Sharquiah because it smelled too chemical and sweet for me, but this is like a MUCH better version of that. The cherry is reminiscent of Al Sharquiah's dates but not cloying, and the chocolate reminds me of the dark oud + rose combo. EDIT EDIT: just wanted to mention the dry down smells almost identical to the dry downs of Hypnotic Poison and Pegasus. The cherry goes from red and fruity to dry and almond-y, so in combination with the patchouli, you get that weird, earthy chemical sweetness. Not bad per se, but different from how I'd like for this frag to dry. Wish the cherry stayed juicy.

I agree with the incense shop impression. There's a handmade incense vendor at a festival I go to every year. Moonlight Gypsy reminds me of the smell in the air around their booth. A mixture of many things rich and incense-y. I can specifically pick out the sandalwood, patchouli, cherry, and spice notes. The longevity is good. It's definitely a mood setting fragrance. It has an earthy upscale hippie kind of vibe. I want to wear it with paisley and velvet.

A warm, sweet, and smokey fragrance; reminds me of visiting an incense shop. Pleasant and comforting.
