Venom of Angel

Venom of Angel is my first try of Piotr Czarnecki's sophomore trio of releases some four years after releasing Sensei and She Sensei, since renamed Shihan and She Shihan, the former particularly making waves (I still owe it a thorough review). Venom of Angel is a sweet scent dominated by coconut but featuring an elaborate array of sweet and boozy notes, ranging from the extremely sweet sugar cane to resins, rum, and white chocolate. Again, it's sweet, but it's not overwhelmingly sweet, as there's some bass and depth to it. It's a very nice fragrance and easily lovable for a fan of sweeter fragrances like myself. I'd classify it as a mostly-gourmand, dominated by food notes but nevertheless modified importantly but non-food notes: in this case, olibanum and cedar. Performance is strong, albeit not as strong as Sensei/Shihan. Pricing is $175 for 100ml, a slight uptick from the Shihan pricing of $160 for 100ml. 8 out of 10

This opens for me with a brisk, sharp, green note that is fresh, bright and a bit piercing. Immediately following the brusque slap of green, comes a wall of creamy sweetness that just washes over me and leaves me smiling. For maybe an hour or two the fresh green half is dance-fighting with the creamy sweet half, until finally they settle together in a strange, yet amicable accord. As it further develops the boozy qualities emerge along with the white chocolate. Delicious! It reminds me of a white chocolate cordial that turns out to be a bit stronger than you thought it was, so it goes right to your head. All in all it is a strange, yet delightful, mix of fun and coziness. The first half is a big party of pure energetic fun and frolic, the second half is the cozy drinks by a fireplace during the after-party. Bizarre yet completely addictive!

Sorry for being too dramatic but holy Moly it's an olfactory experience and a half. Don't be scared about the white chocolate, sugar and coconut. Yep, it's a sweet opening but it settles to such a creamy and wonderful fragrance. The ivy and aloe are very important notes in this lovely. They stop it being too heavy and cloying. The pepper is the perfect accent. The dry down is just dreamy. It's a posh, much improved, classy version of Britney Spiers Naughty Remix. Oh so naughty but gosh so NICE! Good longevity and sillage. Love It!

Ok ok ok. Scratch my old review. Before I said this was only alright but ACTUALLY I have been getting to know this one more and as it turns out I really really like it! Its not your typical fragrance. Its ...hard to explain. It starts like slightly spicey,piney leaves and turns into sweet, powdery, sugared chocolate covered ivy. I am not very good at explaining but I tried lol. It becomes a lovely lovely soft skin scent and Im addicted.

I finally got a bottle after sniffing my small sample for many years, and the new bottle smells differently, a lot like men's cologne. My sample was pretty old and had this sweet intense unisex base. I'm going to put my bottle away for a year or two and see if it deepens some, which has happened with some of my other fragrances. Fingers crossed! Edit: A couple months later and it's getting closer to the fragrance I knew.. Yay!

I absolutely love this scent. The cedar, white chocolate, and sugar notes blend together so nice. A bit synthetic on the opening for a few minutes but after that it settles into a beautiful sweet woody scent. Lasts around 6-8 hours on my skin with decent projection. I can’t get enough of this smell and it’s probably my favorite scent from Piotr czarnecki. 9/10. Would be a 10 if the opening wasn’t as harsh.

YES, YES IT DOES... Indeed yes... Coconut, Lindt White chocolate and white sugar cubes... Piotr is amazing. I found an old sample - forgot how amazing this is. If this is what you want this is what you’ll get. Completely delish gourmand - probably one of the best examples out there. Forget the woody suggestions. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I love the color of the liquid, but it smells quite soapy on me.

Update: I really do not like the extended drydown, which is a dirty musky ambery cedar. What a shame. Cannot rate higher than an 8/10 because of this. Venom of Angel is a beautiful little fragrance! Fresh mint is not one of the listed notes, but I detect a slight menthol to it. With the aloe vera, the white chocolate, and coconut notes, it has almost a solar quality. The ivy lends it a bit more greenness and the pepper a subtle spice. It has definitely passed the paper test for me, so I will be conducting skin and cloth tests next, but for now, I can safely say this is at least an 8+/10. I plan to update this review after more extensive testing, and I'm very excited for such a unique fragrance!

The initial sniff is sooo alluring! Sweet but sparkling with freshness, extremely unique! White chocolate is very evident in the first few minutes. Then the heavy cedar comes in and dominates all the prettiness of the beginning. That phase is just overwhelming with generic men's cologne note, not pleasant although you can smell the high quality of the cedar note. After few hours it transforms into white chocolate with coconut spinkles, pretty but not unique at all. Overall I have mixed feelings about this one. I will give it a chance and let it macerate coz the beginning is just stunning!

I definitely wouldn't classify this as a white chocolate scent. To me the ivy, aloe, and sugar are the most present through most of the wear. If there is any white chocolate to this it's blended very well into the other notes, barely adding a slight creamy effect to the scent. There's a sharpness to this. Almost like breaking open a stem of aloe where the outside edge is that sharp, deep green with the cooling aloe dripping out and toning it back down. I like it and it's a very interesting and pleasant composition but not something I'd enjoy wearing.

Mmmm... I like this very much. Fresh cedar and green aloe/ivy stand out to me. With that white chocolate and coconut, I bought a sample with myself in mind - however the scent leans towards a beautiful, high quality men's cologne. The creamier notes wonderfully rounding out the sharper cedar and green-ness. Though I like more feminine scents for myself, it is a scent I'd love to smell on my husband so there may be a bottle in our near future. Lightness and vibrancy.

Fresh and pleasant opening. I cannot pinpoint any specific notes, neither floral, gourmand or other. The only way I can describe this fragrance is that it smells pink, not the sticky sweet kind, but the fresh rosé kind - without the alcohol. Though not overwhelming, I would describe this scent as sweet with a hint of spice. More freshness and life at the opening, dries down to a deeper sweet fragrance.

This opened fresh and sweet, with an occasional waft of spice. I sampled it on a warm day and I feel like itd be better in fall with cooler weather. On me, it pulled masculine so I gave the rest to my boyfriend. He liked it.

Neither venom nor angel. Rather, sugar coated pine cone. Strange but interesting. I would not consider this at all to be gourmand nor a womans scent.

Wow. What is this? Licorice. Orange? Greens? Something flat in the background. This is one of those love it or hate it stand out scents. It would probably be offensive to others (me included) or exalted as unique and trendy. I would also say that any daring male or female might pull this off. Not me. Not by a long shot. lol.

I really love the opening on this, bright & neon electric, exciting, a bit dangerous. Gives me the feeling of being in some kind of alternative night club. Unfortunately longevity is very poor. My skin has eaten it up completely within an hour or so. Not even a hint of base notes. It's a shame but I do love that opening.

Interesting concept, kind of masculine foougere stripped of its classic ingredients. You get the woody green base, flashed of lavender (DHM), pine, fir balsam, mint. But rather than having the classic woody, spicy, aromatic, geranium core of a fougere it is replaced by sweet vanilla and coconut. Claiming white chocolate is a bit of a stretch and seems more like an accident of coconuty lactones and vanilla. I almost don't know if I should post this review because I admire the courage and passion of independent perfumers. But, well, this is a place for honesty and its just one random persons opinion: For me this is exactly the type of fragrance that shows that the general audience will buy just about anything if the marketing and story is strong. The fragrance is not cohesive and quite childish in its execution. The edges are not rounded. The materials don't come together to form a whole, each element (the piney resins, minty greens, vanilla coconut) have no olfactive link between them and smell like one big clash. It is clearly the work of an amateur perfumer with no formal training. But in the end who am I to judge? if people like it and get a smile from it, that's all that matters.

Smells familiar but different. Like an ambrox base + sweetness. A 'twisted' Sauvage, if you will. With a vanilla fruity something? I mean, I guess I get the coconut smell, or more like a vibe. Can't say I get the cedar. I get a sweetness, but it doesn't really scream white chocolate to me - seems more like the sugar cubes plus coconut scented car air freshener. That sounds bad, but this is actually pretty good. Seems a little 'scratchy' in the opening though, but it calms down a lot soon after. I feel like I'm getting some kind of freshness like lime as well. Also getting a little dirtiness or 'bite' - can't tell if this is the cedar or the black pepper or what.

Friend passed along a sample. This really smells and performs like something I could buy off amazon for $20 by one of the Arab brands. Very Paco. Could conceivably work on the scent-maxxing campus conservative type. Does not agree with my chemistry in the slightest. The pink juice is pwussy pwussy diva cuntiana tho. Idk. There’s some value in wearing a really nasty, cloying perfume when one is also perhaps a few days deep in a stimulant bender and looking beady-eyed, scabby, and unwashed. She’s somewhat risen to the occasion... Not something I would purchase.
