Zaffran

This is how Preacher world smell, the one from the comics, not the series. Really high quality spicey and herbal leather. I bought it because it is said to be like Bull's Blood and because there is clove. It's not really like Bull's Blood so much as it's an 'If you like Bull's Blood, you'll like this", nonetheless, it is unique, beautiful and strong. And people who feel strongly about scents will get why this is so amazing.

My initial impression is this is a very unique and beautiful Fragrance! I'll be wearing this for a few days to get to know it. Then I'll review it on my YouTube channel "Daniel San!". So far this is a gorgeous Fragrance! I am very pleased.

Main notes I get are orange and a really leathery saffron. It’s well done and smells good. On the masculine side of unisex. Not getting as much of the spices, it smells more bitter / herbal in the background and has a faint background note almost like a citrusy white wine. No sweetness. A little Vetiver. Like but don’t think I will reach for it. Not very “me”.

It opens like a knife fight in a rusted elevator: ambrette fizz, tobacco ashes choking the air, clove smoke, caraway sweat, castoreum oozing out of an old leather boot, and that metallic screech — blood on copper, maybe. I pick up vetiver like mold in a jazz basement, musk thick like a dead body’s breath, patchouli crawling through the cracks, cardamom thrown in like broken teeth, sandalwood dragging its carcass behind. Yes, I love animalics. But this? This is not a blend — it's a brawl. The top hits like a bad fever: cumin-stained shirts, old gloves, castoreum in heat, and that goddamn metallic tang like chewing on aluminum foil dipped in regret. No thank you. Unwearable. Unforgivable. A scent that doesn’t dry down — it deteriorates.

Orange and a leathery saffron as the below reviews says in the open. I also get a quite distinct vegetal green note I guess from the costus and then an airiness from the rose. I see why people put it reminds them of Rhino as the opening leathery saffron does a touch (although no booze like in Rhino) but they really go in different directions very quickly, Rhino far more medicinal leather and this via the costus and rose an almost bloody leather. Interesting fragrance, but not one I would wear often the costus I find a bit too raw. If you enjoy this you might also enjoy IA Bull's Blood.

Overly dirty saffron... Ambrette, tobacco ashes, clove, caraway, castoreum, & metallic notes. I get vetiver, musk, patchouli, cardamom, sandalwood, & an awfully touch of metallic. Although i am an animalic blend lover, but this isn't a pleasant blend! At least not a pleasant top note because of the caraway, gloves, castoreum, musk, and that touch of metallic. No thank you. Edit (45 mins in) This is pure disgusting, the metallic and tobacco are forming something unbearable! i couldn't it remove it from my skin even after using alcohol danat + soap. Too much.

I have just been transported to a Robin Hood movie, with scenes in the forests, with lots of fog and humidity, Royal guards and horses wet by the rain. That's how Zaffran presents itself to me: dry and leathery in an instant, Mossy and green in another. It is a fragrance rich in spices, but with Woody nuances that insist on appearing during the evolution. Contains notes of Saffron, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon, in the output; Blood orange, Kaffir lime (Citrus with origin in Galician lemon), Mandarin orange and Tangerine, in the heart; Lavender, rose, sandalwood, patchouli, Costus (also called in Brazil as cana-do-brejo, periná, etc.), amber, tobacco, musk, Indian and Indonesian vetiver and Choya Loban - resin extracted from the Boswellia tree, which is originally from India and Saudi Arabia, rich in anti-inflammatory properties. This resin is also known as Indian Frankincense, whose oil is dark and the aroma can be slightly smoky and leathery, balsamic-woody or resinous, widely used in leather scents, fougère, incensed or with forest aspect. Without a doubt, is the great secret of this creation. Zaffran touches the skin very dry, male and leathery, with a strong whiff of Saffron and cloves. Only after 1 hour of its application, it is possible to perceive the tobacco and, above all, the vetiver. For those who enjoy this note, this is a full plate. One thing that I realized is that, in a second test, applied in a more generous manner, the citric part became more apparent. But, without doubt, the nuance of leather is absolute in this scent. Particularly, I don't nominate this fragrance for women. And I go further: this is a niche perfume for a few connoisseurs, only for those who already joined in this market and can recognize the quality of this type of fragrance, perfect for mature and secure men, who appreciate strong perfumes.

I am a woman and an artist and I love to wear this fragrance when I cook, create, explore, make love and about all else, except when with babies. Yes, it is very strong but somehow so comforting, with the wood and moss notes, that I think of being in a damp forest with a lover. I do prefer fragrance that adds the wood, smoke, moss, leather and incense. This one is an original. I also wear Serge Lutens Chergui, but they have not a thing in common except for the orange. But so different. Paul Kilar's scents are for an artist, obviously, since he himself is one. The layering is much like I would approach a canvas. So many choices and you keep adding and subtracting until, Finally, you got it right!! I had bought this one for a lover, but in the end, I was selfish and kept it for myself. A great decision, by the way. I cannot think of a certain thing to even compare it with, as far as other scents. Its a unique and very hard to control passion when you wear this one.

A lovely fragrance that is long lasting. Evocative and I like the full allotment of saffron and exhilarating tones. Honing in on spice characteristics with secondary notes of sandalwood, red tower, flowers and a continuation of spice characteristics in addition to the saffron. I sense notes of pepper, clove, and Bay leaf. I love the long last nature of this fragrance and one that is so distinctive that if I smelled with a blindfold I know it is this specific fragrance of Zaffran by PK Perfumes.
