Elegance Cuiree

Damn, for something that's leather, amber, and woody- this truly is an uplifting beautiful springtime fragrance. It's sweet and fresh, and the leather is soft and light. I love freshies A LOT, and for a guy with a taste for that profile, I'd absolutely recommend this one. I'd say it's unisex. Women or men can absolutely wear this- but it might lean slightly feminine 60/40. I only have a 2ml, so I've sampled it on my wrist, meaning I can't really determine the longevity since I haven't give it a full wear. This for me is full bottle worthy. I'm not one who gravitates towards winter fragrances, but if this is a winter fragrance, color me there, because honestly, I'd say this one is for the spring.

Longevity in the 10-12 hour range for me. Projection is also very good. Closest I have to this would be Godolphin also this is less sweet/fruity than Godolphin (I love Godolphin) If you like Godolphin you may well like this too. Try it first, you may find it redundant to own both. There are differences but (right now at least) they seem minor. I think Godolphin has better projection but this one may be a better choice for those who don't want their fragrance to be quite so loud. If you're not a fan of leather frags then best not try this one. It's good. No...... It's great. Love it!!

Another love from this house. I’m bathing in it right now and it’s heavenly. Leather for sure, but it’s got a bright, cheerful disposition and underlying sweetness which is unique compared to my other leather scents. Light smoke. Nothing overbearing. Almost feels like a leather with gourmand touches and I love it. Seems to be fine in 80 degree heat and blooms like crazy, but I enjoy it more when it cools down in the evening. Sillage goes for miles. As the cooler Fall weather begins, it’s between this and BDK Crème De Cuir for first place.

I have a hair mist version, but it smells exactly like a perfume (even the same strength of the scent). The opening is green and aromatic (lots of juniper berries). It all blends nicely with a rich leathery base and a touch of fresh bergamot. I reminds me of Irish Leather by Memo a lot, but I love both of them. This fragrance frustrates me to no end. Almost perfect but then like Icarus its wings melt and in the base it comes crashing down. It starts out like a perfected Italian Leather. Brighter fruits, perfectly balanced leather - a white leather so smooth it has a suede-like texture but still the depth of a more traditional leather note. Leather and honey and petitgrain (maybe a lemon petitgrain?) bergamot, an ethereal sweetness that combined with the aforementioned gives a bit of a "lemon cake" note. Early on it is wonderfully balanced by a subtle but noticeable labdanum note, some incense and pepper. Juniper here is - so rarely seen - smooth as silk. There is a grassy note, some galbanum on top of the isobutyl quinoline leather (same core leather as Italian leather, Irish leather, etc), but here it is all smoother, and airier and feels more refined and elegant than the Memos which feels comparatively scratchy (though they really aren't, it's just a testament to the unbelievably refined texture of Cuiree Elegance). As the hours carry on the leather and deeper notes recede more and more and what is left is that airy lemony cake note. I was hoping it was just my nose, but others list this as having gourmand qualities and it is totally true. It ends up feeling out of place. A too weak, too thin, too sweet and too banal dry down for the perfection that came before. I can't remember the last time I went from such elation to such disappointment over a wearing. I thought I found my perfect leather. I thought it was true love. Instead, I was abandoned at the altar with nothing more than my tears and a mug of tazo Lemon Loaf tea in which to shed them.

This fragrance has a light touch with its management of the leather notes. Bergamot and juniper deliver a lovely bitter/sweet opening. A dash of warm patchouli and a resinous woody base steer things towards a romantic coda. Simple stuff really but I like it a lot.
