Full Moon (At the Temple)

It’s been awhile since I wore a perfume where I could use the word unique to describe it, but that’s how I feel about Full Moon. There’s an obvious green aquatic feel, but I’m also picking up a vegetable garden— earthy, fresh, and the ground is wet from rainfall the night before. Final assessment: tossed salad vibes with carrots, leafy greens and celery. I see the list of notes and I can comprehend that’s what the perfumer used (geeen tea, Hinoki, Yuzu and shiso). Whatever is in this, I know I have not smelled this combination before. It’s just wonderful to be this surprised.

full moon smells like a sweet yet natural earthy scent. it primarily smells like fresh rainwater and wood to me. i also get hints of citrus at the base. it smells so natural and beautiful. it smells like you have been walking through a rainforest that has citrus plants scattered throughout. whenever i wear this i get so many compliments. i also love how realistic the rainwater smells. it smells so fresh and delicate. it is a staple in my collection and i will definitely be repurchasing. thank you, poesie! ♡

Originally bought Full Moon to round out a discovery set from Poesie but ended up liking this scent way more than expected. Strongest note fresh out of the bottle is rice and shiso. Soft, a little sweet, and lightly spiced. If you've ever eaten sakura mochi wrapped in shiso leaf, this evokes a similar feeling via fragrance. The citrusy scent from the yuzu is there, but not overbearing. It’s delicate, crisp, and clean—really good overall and I plan to get a larger bottle eventually.

i looooove this wow, definitely lived up to my expectations. the notes are all there and they play very beautifully and naturally together. the more green and citrusy notes are rounded out by the rice, making the overall scent feel more complex and less generically fresh. super serene and wearable for everyday while still feeling unique. i wish this came in a larger, more affordable size

My favorite Poesie scent. I really wish they sold spray bottles and were less expensive. But otherwise this is very unique and unforgettable. This really does smell like a moonlit night on the water with the green tea, rice, and leaves. This smell works year round. Day & night. I just love it.

This perfume rules. Perfectly unisex, perfectly balanced. I honestly can't get enough. This is a sophisticated and relaxing perfume. The rice note lasts, and the lake water accord feels reverential and spot on. A rare scent that works in both summer heat and winter frost.

Spring 2023. I bought the water mist for my hair. It's a very delicate and fresh scent. I'd recommend the oil for a more lasting impact. To me, it smelled like sticky rice but to my best friends it smelled like their mother and their crush, respectively

A comforting fresh, earthy subtle scent. I definitely smell the rice, the green notes, and the hint of yuzu. A true unisex scent imo! This perfume is like a fresher, greener version of Poesie's "Soft", and I prefer this one for those reasons.

drinking citrus green tea in a mossy cave. This is an amazing rainy day scent that becomes warmer with wear. It dries sweet while keeping its balanced clean/earthy quality. soo beautiful and atmospheric- I love it!

First impressions: A great example of telling a story and setting a scene with scent. The yuzu, rice, green and water notes all really paint such a full picture. A beautiful bouquet I can see working year-round.

Absolutely gorgeous, unique scent. Sits very close to the skin, and smells almost like soil and night air. Longevity isn't great, but it is one of the most beautiful scents I've ever tried.

Honestly, this is kinda masterful. Delicate, evocative, nostalgic, fresh, peaceful. Really well executed as a concept, too.

It leans woody, green, and aquatic, with a whisper of yuzu zest peeking through, but only just. While it wears close to the skin with low sillage and moderate longevity, it’s a deeply evocative scent that succeeds in storytelling. The hinoki wood comes forward most distinctly, supported by a subtle green tea impression. My partner described it as “a tea house next to a sawmill,” which unexpectedly nails the experience. I do wish the white rice and yuzu zest were more prominent, as their presence would have elevated it to perfection for me. That said, this is a fragrance I plan to revisit after some time to see how it evolves. 📦 The order came within a week and the aesthetic from this house fits Poesie's vibe well. Simple, soft, dreamy, imaginative. ☁️🌼☁️ 🍃 After maceration (May 2025): With time, the rice note has finally emerged. Its evolution is soft and grounding, lending a gentle warmth beneath the cool, meditative exterior. It’s still not dominant, but it adds depth and balance. I find myself reaching for this during seasonal transitions; it feels particularly fitting on quiet, liminal days like today (the last of meteorological spring). The overall character remains unchanged: serene, ritualistic, and intimate. A fragrance best suited to those who appreciate green-woody compositions with a poetic, skin-close presence. Recommended: Yes, especially as part of Poesie’s custom sample set. Ideal for lovers of atmospheric, contemplative scents that tell a story without shouting. Final Edit (March 2026): I full sized this. It's truly one of a kind.

Wet, leaves a cool damp impression. Soapy musk, green, an interesting starchiness stitched throughout. Something about the blend of the citrus and Poesie’s signature rice note leave me feeling all cozy in the end. It’s just not gonna be my fave because I just don’t love soap scents, but I feel a little fond for this one.

This is so interesting. It’s definitely starchy, savory rice with lots of aromatics. I thought it was ginger, but I think it’s shiso and hinoki wood. It’s unusual but quite pleasant.

this is almost a great scent, with the cool herbaceous rice notes really being reminiscent of a sharp breeze blowing in over a deep moonlit lake in the woods. unfortunately, have to pass on this one, because there's an underlying chemical tang to it that i just can't shake. the yuzu intensifies on my skin the longer i wear it, and mixed with the watery notes, just starts to remind me of citrus-scented furniture polish. i can enjoy it for maybe 10 minutes before i have to scrub it off cause it loses that crisp dark awakening and turns into a headache of an artificially aquatic cleaning product.

I really love how I experience the different notes comprising Full Moon (at the Temple) from Poesie Perfume, so separately and distinctly upon the first few minutes of sitting with the scent: the grainy popped corn sweetness of the white rice, yuzu’s tart, sparkling floral citrus complexity, the musty mineralic mossy limestone melancholy of cool lake water. These elements orbit each other independently until they merge seamlessly and suddenly with the otherworldly holiness of the hinoki wood in a tender, glowing poem of a perfume. The inspiration for Full Moon (at the Temple), Lady Murasaki’s writing rituals, and her pilgrimage east from Kyoto, where at the temple she observed the August moon reflected in the waters of Lake Biwa, these things really speak to me, as a writer who practices my own rituals, who frequently and frustratingly observes the various sums of the disparate words I’m writing forming an eventual, sometimes satisfying, and hopefully beautiful whole.

The rice note is strong, slightly citrusy, gourmand in a Not so sweet way., if there's such a thing. Like rice pudding with a splash of lemon but no sugar added. There's sweetness, but its coming from the rice, not sugary or vanilla sweet. Starts to turn green when the middle notes emerge, there's some bitterness to it, interesting scent.
