To Be Born To Shine Woman

Sugar-Crystal-Textured COFFEE-JASMINE Scent with Apple-Blossom & Cinnamon... Inspired by Black Opium Yves Saint Laurent, this isn't meant to be a clone but more of an approximation with a twist and excellent performance. Opens with a sweet citrus-floral burst with cinnamon adding some warm-spicy tones, that deepens into the coffee heart with jasmine & plum bringing some clean white-floral, soft-purple & fruity tones while rose brings a velvety, powdery quality. This all rests on a predominantly vanilla base with patchouli, sandalwood & cashmere wood. This has the fuzzy sugar-crystal texture of Black Opium. Overall I get a sticky sweet coffee scent with jasmine like Black Opium, but this doesn't have the pear-almond present in Black Opium, although there is still a faint impression on marzipan from the combination of apple-blossom & cinnamon with jasmine. I don't get the woody-almond notes in Born to Shine that I get in the drydown of Black Opium. Born to Shine has a more vanillic rather than woody-almond drydown. Like Black Opium, this is so close to a gourmand, that most will consider it one, however the prominent jasmine makes it lean more to Amber-Vanilla. The performance is excellent for year-round wear, but I would be more likely to wear this on fall & winter nights. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

The images dont do justice on how beautiful and pearlescent this bottle is! To Be Born To Shine opens sweet spicy and dries down warm and smooth. It's blended very well and smells like comforting autumn indoors (though i love it enough to make it work in any season). I'd say what I get mostly is cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, sandalwood, but I also detect the plum and rose. This isn't very in-your-face, so this could be someone's answer if they find Black Opium too strong but still love the spiced coffee and vanilla sweetness. I like layering this with Over Red to make my perfect version of Black Opium! It's a good layering fragrances in general- or it may be that I mostly have sweet vanillas so a lot of my collection works with it.

OMG this is just heavenly! Its like toffee heaven with a bit of coffee. I know there is no real toffee in the scent, not listed but i can feel definitely. My friends told me that i smell like a huge walking Kinder egg that has been filled with toffifee :D and someone sad that i smell like tiramisu cake. So yeah this is a 100% gourmand scent with very strong toffee/cake vibe. On clothes its just beast mode, you can smell days after, on skin its a bit weaker but still long lasting. I think maybe 4-5 hours on skin, on clothes forever *.....* its a fall and winter scent, at spring or summer it can suffocating bc its sweet.

This is a wonderful and beautiful scent. The coffee notes shows up only in the dry down, last. The apple blossom gives this scent the magical touch. A fruity floral which is projecting good because of the light patchouli. I always imagine italian young people going out and hawing a god time in some Italian city when i smell Police perfumes. This is a high quality, enjoyable and fun scent. Police never disappoints. This one great for summer even if the notes are autumn like. It has a coconuty vibe. I will layer this with coconut lotions from bath and body works and pink coco body mist, yummi! Perfect summer combo ,!

Such cheapie smelling so good!?!? What! It is actually pretty similar to Black Opium but better, it's like "hmm, I know this scent from somewhere, smells really good but I can't put my finger on it..". Reeeeaaaally good, I actually like the bottle, I like the "cap" - like a granade :D The only downside is it doesn't last that long :( Sometimes it goes away in 30 mins, sometimes after 1,5h, but it won't stay with you the whole day, that's for sure. Later it becomes a close skin scent, unfortunately. If Police made them Beast Mode, then they would be a really big player in the perfume scene.

I'm sorry, is it just me or this smells a lot like Dark Kiss by BBW?? I applied it again today and was like "Huh...it smells good but kinda familiar" and then I remembered that it reminds me of DK. And tbh if you smell them closely, they don't exactly smell the same, but if you smell them from far away (I applied these two on either arms) it smells pretty similar! Guess now I can create a scent profile using these 2 lol

Pleasantly surprised. When I first sprayed this fragrance in a box it smelled very nice, and then the patchouli came in soon after, and it was a little bit of a dirty patchouli. Apparently some got on my blanket and when I moved my blanket later that night I got a beautiful whiff. It smelled so good! I ended up wearing it the next day and on my skin I didn’t get that dirty patchouli smell. Successful blind buy!!

perfect- just wish it lasted longer and had more sillage to it apart from that its great and super cheap for its scent like seriously i would expect this to be way more expensive. also adore the skull bottle the opening is very similar to black opium but when it drys down it becomes more like hypnotic poison imo

Hits with an initial wave of powdery vanilla and strong candy spiciness: almost like those red hot cinnamon candies, if you poured a handful into your vanilla latte. The coffee and spice dissipate, and middle floral and citrus notes creep forward. The bottle is slightly gimmicky, but I really like this scent.

I think this is perfect for people who want to wear citrusy scents during colder times of the year without being “offensively fresh”. It is kind of similar to Black Opium, but more powdery and clean while still having that mysterious and sensual vibe. I actually prefer this I’m not gonna lie.

This ended up being one of my most-worn perfumes. It's like a chai latte with coffee. Creamy, vanilla, sweet in just the right amount. I no longer compare it to black opium because they simply aren't that similar after all!

Very good cheapie which doesn't smell cheap at all. It's a more cashmere, delicate take on Black Opium Extreme. Wearable all year round, gourmand without punching in the face. Very good sillage and longevity. Worth a try!

Why did they wake up in 2022 and made yet another BO clone? Perhaps to relate to some new BO flanker, a lighter version of the OG. I gave up on these BO flankers when I had to return Black Opium Neon. I always preferred BO EDT as it was more fresh with the tea-musk and lack of orange blossom-licorice effect so less warm than the EDP. Okay so no salty pear no waxy orange blossom here, happy about that, smooth notes on my skin, nothing obnoxious, very similar to La Rive Touch of woman with the bergamot accord, so better than Black Opium in my book, much lighter. It is as sweet as the EDP Black Opium (not the EDT). The BO impression is more prevalent at first, but at the drydown this is more floral on my skin and creates its own identity. I am tired of the Black Opium impressions, so why did I buy this. I don't know. It is much more aromatic and wearable than Black Opium on me and I do like that. It is very similar to La Rive's. The coffee is subtle on me, not stinky as it is with BO, (I am allergic to caffeine in real life) and the apple blossom makes it fresher. Projects well, lasts very long, great quality, nothing too spicy on my skin and not overly warm, so I prefer it to La Rive's too cuz that one is much warmer, deeper, stronger. This is not like To Be Good Vibes to my nose (orange, salty pear, super sweet and very citrusy). To be Good Vibes is much like BBW Pink Obsessed more citrusy and 100% a cross between La Belle JPG and Born in Roma Intense.

Ignore the bottle (these skulls are just...) and focus on the juice. The fragrance is actually lovely! For a cheap fragrance it’s well blended without any weird notes. Right from the start is creamy, warm and comforting. It’s sweet and it does remind a bit of black opium, but I mean a bit not like a dupe. It’s nice on its own but can be used as a base for layering. It lasts a few hours too but it’s not projecting crazy. Now in colder weather it can really shine. Really enjoy it and I catch whiffs of it all the time. Last even better on clothes. Good value.

Its very versatil. If you want an economic dupe of Black Opium then you should buy this one. Its like 85% the same as black opium. They have their differences. I see many people say and vote that patchouli is a note you can notice in here. Patchouli for me is a big NO NO when they are too strong. They produce me headache but not this perfume. I just smell a cremy coffe, kind of spicy and heavy. Perfect for cold and rainy days. And its super affordable!!!

I really want to like this, it’s such a fun bottle... BUT ... I’m getting vanilla gasoline. I’ve had this “gasoline” experience with a small number of other Police fragrances. I’m not sure if I’m anosmic to some of their accords, or what. I’m letting it sit in the back of the closet to macerate for a bit to see if it gets better. :( Edit: 8 months later this is WAY better. Nice and sweet vanilla/sandalwood. No more gasoline.

It's amusing how much I like this compared to many of my scents which were x10 the price. Does it spell expensive? No, does it smell good? Absolutely! There's no coconut note listed but it reminds me more of Hypnotic Poison and the beachy tropical coconut/vanilla perfumes (like alien goddess) than Black Opium. It's a bit fresher and younger than Black Opium.

Not bad but to me it is the same as Britney Spears Private Show. No similarity with LVEB or with Black Opium. Maybe a bit similar to Black Opium Nuit Blanche. It is a basic lactonic vanilla fragrance with coffee, sweet caramelized notes and that's it. Office friendly. Longevity is like another Police fragrances, short.

It’s pretty close to Black Opium, but it smells like a very cheap and synthetic version of it — which I can’t even be mad about, considering the low price. I mostly bought it for the bottle. Honestly, if you’re looking for a Black Opium dupe, I’d recommend Zara’s Gardenia — it’s much better, in my opinion.

I love this fragrance from Police, it smells so similar to the Black Opium by YSL but much cheaper and it lasts a long time on my skin, it's a great cheap fragrance you can wear everyday. This fragrance along with the men's version are my 2 new favourite perfumes from Police.
