Que Eau de Barbeque

I gave this to my brother-in-law for Christmas a couple of years ago, as he is an avid BBQ-er and also has a sense of humor where I thought he might enjoy this. Gotta love the crazy commercials! I got to take a whiff or two- it's quite striking. Definitely prominent tar-notes (birch-, cade, pine-) as well as fresh wood notes, warm spices. I love smokey fragrances (own both 'Arso' and 'Fvmidvs' by Profumum Roma, 'Eau du Fier' by Goutal), so I do plan on getting myself a full bottle of this one of these days, and will update the review. EDIT 7 Aug, 2015: Finally have a bottle of my own and am studying a single spritz on my hand. Definitely I like it. It's more-complex than the notes above suggest, yet it is a simple composition. Clove stands out a little-more-prominently than I would prefer, underneath that is cinnamon, black pepper, and honey, then some nice fresh wood-notes balanced nicely with smokey tar-notes. A little vetiver, styrax, and patchouli. The overall effect smells incredibly like a fine barbecue with fragrant woods smouldering- a very rugged, pleasing effect- and one of the most-unusual scents in my collection.

Someone anonymously sent me a sample---THANKS!!!! This scent really does, at first, smell like a smoky BBQ. I happen to LOVE the smell of roasting meat, so I was very excited to find a fragrance which captures that aroma. The incense note is not a churchy incense, which would not work in this scent. It is more of a sweet woodsmoke note, which is ideal. However, there is a slight rubbery smell which creeps in towards the drydown. This is disconcerting and makes this fragrance a "like" rather than a "love". However, I still want a full bottle, because it's otherwise delightful. Longevity and sillage are good. Many people asked me if I had been cooking, or if I had just left Bub's BBQ (my favorite restaurant in the universe)!

As I say about "bacon classic", I just can't believe someone would wanna smell like the unpleasant odor (because "barbecue" is not what I call scent but well and truly an odor) of greasy and smoked meat .... Well, if someone can like it, providing that it doesn't make others sick .... Perfume industry is turning insane : what a pity ....
