Spider Web

Opens with a blast of green grassy fig, like the fig was just plucked off the tree, and the sappy white milk is leaking out all over your fingers. Yes that imagery makes a lot of sense. Then grass, like freshly mown springtime showers grass. Definitely a green-leaning perfume. The soft lemony notes peep through the milky grass, and reveal a ripe fuzzy peach musk. A bit syrupy. Then a slightly acrid chestnut and wheat note hover around the whole thing. I can see why some people smell this and immediately detect the acrid notes that make them go “no way I’m reaching for this” I like it. It smells like playing under the fig trees in the yard as a child to me. Slightly dirty and unkempt but sweet and nostalgic. It softens quite a bit on the skin and dries to a peachy musk that I don’t think anyone would find offensive or off putting at all. It reminds me a of a sprite with clothes made of leaves. Mischievous and earthy.

I am reviewing the candle version of Spider Web. So for me, when I smell it, it’s very fresh — like walking in a rainy forest. It’s very leafy and silky, and I get this soft, airy feeling from it. In the background, I also get something kind of cornflake-like, like a dry cereal note, which makes it feel a bit textured but still natural. And very, very slightly I get chestnuts, but not the sweet baked ones — more like raw chestnuts. It’s not sweet at all, just very subtle and earthy. Overall, it just smells very fresh, like a rainy forest — leafy, silky, and slightly grainy in the background.

This scent does remind me of grass at first, but then you smell the chestnut and the peach which makes it smells better in a couple of seconds. Not the best but it's not bad or anything. I just feel like it's a missed opportunity with spider web.

I was really expecting to love this but I was let down. It has some sweet elements but to me it reeks of grass.

You know, I cannot decide what to think of this thing 😭😭😭 First spray I am BLASTED WITH THIS ODDLY FAMILIAR OVERWHELMING GREEN SCENT?? I sit here going, holy, that’s... what is that...??? Then it hits me. It smells the exact same way these green drinks I used to drink last year around this time smelt and tasted... The ones I had to stop drinking because by the beginning of August I was about to throw up at the very notion of drinking one 😭 After all the green I was horrified by, I go back and curiously smell my wrist again cause I’m like, man, surely it wasn’t THAT similar, right?? It’s completely changed by then into the most beautiful peach scent, a lightly green but realistic peach taste type of scent which I absolutely adore, it’s just phew man, I’m gonna have to learn to survive the green drink part first if i’m gonna like this good enough for the peach...
