Day For Night

This is a generic mass appealing amber.... I rate it a 9/10 Wait what? Yes! This whole olfactories line is not all that unique, rather they succeed in capturing the Prada aesthetic of modern, clean, powdery, but still so stylish and sleek. This fragrance is thin and transparent for an amber but i forgive it because the transparency let’s Daniela Andrier play with and highlight the smallest details, a whiff of leather, is that smoke? Caramel? But all this in an amber that you could wear just about year round exempting the hottest days. There’s a clean powdery feel behind it all, though I wouldn’t classify it a clean or powdery scent. Interestingly depending on the wear I get a dominant Benzoin note and other times I pick up just the beginning of a civet, maybe from the leather, at that point it hints at a designer musc ravageur, tho still very different. Very designer so I understand the lower rating. Also if you can only have a few bottles maybe this one isn’t the unique scent you need. But if you want a super wearable, compliment getting amber, that still has enough quality and finesse to keep an experienced nose satisfied this is a great choice. In a way I understand the person who said they see this as a $100 fragrance not a $300, the genre and style would suggest a $100 price tag, but the quality and the perfect balance would be impossible to find at a lower price. A big love for me. Who do I recommend this to? Anyone looking for a super easy to wear and Easy to like amber for just about all occasions but who are constantly dissatisfied with designer offerings. Also for this that already have a lot of niche and want a dumb reach for “wasting sprays” this is a great one to have just because even tho it doesn’t require much attention it is superb quality and blending.

Nice light transparent amber. So what’s the big deal? Usually when an amber goes “light” it means going really soft and vanilla. Less incense and less darker resins like labdanum. Day for Night is not that. Rather it not only incorporate rich true enveloping amber but goes a step further and includes a dark incense and a sour leather. Except then it makes them totally transparent, it reduces the opacity of the ingredients and leaves than as just a wisp supported by a transparent powdery and musky modern base (reminiscent of an “amber” like Prada black but then you add a real full amber on top). It’s a beautiful fusion of old and new. It’s not cheaply modern, but creatively so. The final effect is that from far you get a soft modern pleasing amber, that almost has caramely, appley, cinamonny touches, but doesn’t really. But when you zoom in and sniff it’s composed of very rich dark and leathery elements. One of my favorite ambers, but be warned it takes a while to understand... at first it seems too simple and flat, but then you realize the “designer modern base” is actually supporting a half powered classic amber and leather, and then wow, you realize why they called it Day for Night, both elements come together beautifully

I hated that I spent so much money on it to begin with because, next to so many others, it doesn’t smell like much and seems way too subtle for that hefty price tag. It’s now, coming back to clothes that were sprayed with it and smelling my skin hours later that I have developed an appreciation for how delicious it smells even if it doesn’t announce you when you walk up or leave a trail behind you. Anyone getting close to you however will know you smell amazing.

This is one of my favorite amber perfumes, and my favorite in the Olfactories Line. Day for Night is airy, and sheer; like a thin veil of decadent amber. It's definitely one of those perfumes that others will smell on you more than you smell on yourself. The sillage whispers to you throughout the day- just then you think its gone, the most beautiful sweet, slightly boozy, amber-vanilla will waft up, then disappear again.

Not really a gourmand, but an airy spicy ambery suede, minimal vanilla and with a dusty sweetness. Light and fine like silk scarf. I love Daniela Roche Andrier's creations!

This retails for $300 and truly do not think it is a $300 fragrance. Maybe $150. Maybe. But I found this for a crazy deal of about 80% off. This smells just like Velours from YSL Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection. However, the opening is not as strong which I appreciate more. The notes don't mention iris/orris but it have exact same opening as Velours. This dries down to a beautiful vanilla. The vanilla I was hoping for with Velours. There is a sweetness with the caramel but not overtly sweet. I tried it yesterday and after 7 hours I could still smell it though I did have my nose buried in my arm. I think this will shine as soon as it gets a little cooler (it was 95 yesterday). I prefer this over Velours. P.S. I'm currently seeking my Velours on Mecari!!

warm, golden, gourmand and transparent. that's what i get from day for night. i enjoy it's gourmand element-especially the hint of caramel and tonka. the drydown on my skin was light warm resinous powdery vanilla. too bad, it doesnt last very long :(

Very nice opening with amber and maybe leather. It lasted at least 10 hours when it was still detectable close to the skin. It was a nice amber fragrance for me, but nothing too exciting, especially at higher price point.

It's like a toned down Dior's Leather Oud with a touch of sweet amber; one of the only 2 worthwhile from this line

Very pleasant but I can barely smell it and it lasts about half an hour on my skin.

Sweet bitter amber. It has caramel, amber, milk, leather, & some kind of spice. I believe i can detect some kind of oud in here (European style oud) within a sweet amber mix. Later i can detect some honey and a slight syrup. The amber is an exciting material that honey, & vanilla goes quite well with and this one in here has that good mix of milk, honey, and syrup mixed with amber. 15 minutes in, i started to detect cumin, and slight cinnamon, as the sweetness, the honey, & syrup almost gone and partially stayed at the background. Its nice blend with sweet & spices notes.

I sniffed each of the new Olfactories scents straight from the bottle yesterday at a Prada boutique, but this was the one I decided to spray on. I found it very light and evasive with a faint creamy chocolate note. Not a rich dark chocolate but a sweet light chocolate, almost like soft serve ice cream. I can't really say much more about it. This whole line is confusing to me, most are so faint, watery and non-existent. I'll reserve judgment until I give each a fair shot, but for now I'm in no rush to really delve much deeper into the Olfactories line. A pass for now.

Daniela Roche Andrier's ambers are mmmmm. Deliciously gourmand without being gooey, they give me the impression of having smoky transparency with depth, like an amber painted with watercolours. I get citrus, caramel, benzoin, and virginia cedar the most atm. I look forward to trying this in different seasons to see how the fragrance morphs with the weather. Day for Night sits closer to the skin, but I still get delicious wafts throughout the day, so longevity is pretty good. I like to spray it at the nape of my neck so I can smell it whenever I move around.

This is a warm, balmy smooth leather with slightly sweet amber hiding in there. I was surprised because normally leather notes sour on me, but this one stayed constant and turned just the tiniest bit powdery near the end. Someone else mentioned that they caught a hint of chocolate in there, and I can definitely agree, although it's really hard to catch. It's there and then it isn't.

Definitely my favorite Prada ever. I am typically more of a niche girl, myself. I happened upon this line and after reading the ingredients, I had to try a few. I am super impressed. There are tons of lovely Amber/Vanilla perfumes out there, but this one stands out to me. It's like they picked my brain for my personal favorite notes (minus a couple...such as gunpowder).

Opens quite ambery and soapy, warm and clean. The soapiness being classic prada. Later it feels like wood and a smooth vanilla open more, with a bit of spice, but it remains clean and a bit powdery right the way through, almost sandalwood feeling. I don't think I'd upgrade from sample to bottle on this one, but I am enjoying sampling quite a lot.

Prada Olfactories is like a private guided tour throghout Daniela Andrier's lab. Here you can clearly notice some studies for Prada Amber. it's a privelege to smell this memories that are like the raw material of the artist. Amber, a salty caramel, patch and benzoin. Past and future, day and night or as the artist named it: Day for night.

sweet ambery vanilla, but surprisingly light and somewhat airy. i think this is a really beautiful take on an amber fragrance!! i find that amber can sometimes be a bit dour, but it's blended well here. crowd-pleaser scent

Blind-buy success. I really wanted to add an Amber styled fragrance to my collection and this was the one! Layered with Iris Malikhan this is a smoke show baddie

I absolutely love powdery leather sweet soft notes. Nothing screams. Very intelligent leather. Reasonable. Could work for men or deep intellectual women.

Prada | Day for Night. It's a beautiful refined sweet amber perfume. A little leathery and it seems lovely overall. Must try? 7/10 Essentials? 7/10

I could never thank Daniela for this masterpiece. Makes me so emotional every time I wear it. Extraordinary scent.
