Luna Rossa Black

Let me start this review by saying this - I’m not the type of person to care much about batch variations. I believe in using what’s available, and if that’s significantly similar to a previous batch, or even a discontinued fragrance, that’s enough for me. When it comes to Prada Luna Rossa Black, however, I cannot believe how different this current version of the fragrance is from what it was. For more context, I first smelt PLRB from a friend’s bottle with the bottle saying ‘made in Spain’ and had the batch number 81831. He gave me a decant from his bottle, and I loved it so much. Once the decant ran out, I immediately bought a bottle. Me being who I am, I didn’t care much about the batch number, but it said ‘made in France’. That fragrance was a joke. From the original bottle, PLRB came off as one of the sexiest fragrances I’d ever smelled. It was in the same vein as YSL’s LNDL, and this was a fragrance that I thought was just as sexy. The fragrance is dark and thick, with the tonka being the main player in the scent profile. The angelica adds a touch of greenness/herbalness to the scent profile and balances out the amber in the fragrance, keeping it from becoming too sweet. As the fragrance dies down, the bergamot dissipates, and the overall scent profile turns more musky. Throughout its life, it’s got a touch of clean, powderiness, but it never takes center stage. The fragrance lasts the entire day with more than moderate projection for the first 2 hours or so. It leans masculine, but women can pull this off as well. Also, I can see any age group pulling this off. I’d have rated this a 10/10, and it would’ve been in my top 10 fragrances of all time. By contrast, the bottle I bought had awful performance, didn’t last for 4 hours, had zero projection, and the scent profile was so diluted. It was just pure powderiness and maybe a touch of tonka. It lacked any kind of depth and all the notes that made the fragrance so amazing in the first place. Had I not experienced the original, I’d have dismissed PLRB as garbage, and the only reason I could BARELY pick up on the original scent profile was because I had used the decant my friend had given me. Compared to that, this version was a joke. Fortunately, I managed to sell off that bottle. I was under the impression that perhaps my bottle had gone bad, but when I tried it out at retail stores, the tester was the same garbage. I’d give this (the current version) of PLRB a 3/10. Fortunately, my friend parted with his bottle and gave it to me, and it’s one of my favorite fragrances I currently own. However, the current version of it on the market is a joke. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone; do test it out if possible. Do NOT blind buy it.

The Scent: There's an initial kick of fresh green citrus that gradually shifts into one of my all time favourite dry-downs. It's an intriguing, clean, powdery/dry, slightly sweet smell that is warm & masculine leaning. It still manages to be fresh, as it doesn't have the sweet & resinous "stickiness" that some fragrances have with similar base notes. Somebody once said this should have been called Prada WHITE, as the soft musks and clean powdery notes feel uplifting and cloud-like. The Vibe: Images of corporate or executive professionals come to mind, but honestly this will always be a cozy scent to me, to either be paired with Roots sweatpants on summer evenings, or a leather jacket in the fall/winter. I agree with others when they say it gives the impression that YOU smell good, and it's not just a cologne. It lacks a lot of the accords that people immediately associate with cologne, so it's a lot more versatile for the office, church, etc.. So if you have fragrance sensitive people in your life, or are worried about giving someone a headache, this is a pretty safe bet. Performance: Solid, at least on my skin. It is NOT a loud scent. In the typical Prada fashion, Prada Black sits closer to skin an isn't trying to get compliments from people across the room. But don't get me wrong, you'll very likely be getting complimented on this. Also, it lasts days on clothes. My fiancé will often ask me to spray this on my hoodies before she takes them. Final Thoughts: If people in your community even happen to wear fragrance (which is not the case in mine), then odds are they aren't going to be wearing Prada Black. I see this as a total win, as it means you'll stand out as someone with differing taste from the more popular JPG/blue scent crowd. Also, I don't get the the whole "burnt or fresh rubber" effect that others unfortunately have. And I'm glad, as it's easily in my top three scents of all time. It's also the only bottle currently that I've repurchased, mostly because it's my fiancés favourite, and I hope to have a backup in case it ever get's discontinued.

Sweet, dark, beautiful. It's hard to isolate individual notes on this, but I will try and describe it. It starts out with some freshness of bergamot over green resinous notes, the dry down brings through some sweet lightly powdery goodness. There are sweet amber and vanilla notes from beginning to end. The blending is absolutely perfect on this. This is unlike any other fragrance I have ever smelled, although I do own quite a few that could be argued to be of a similar style. My bottle is a 2018 with the one piece top with the thicker atomizer that does not come off. I have smelled are similar in the opening but the newer ones don't seem to have the same kind of performance. This is definitely a fragrance designed for cooler weather or date nights. My wife loved this one when we tried it together in store. This definitely shines in fall and winter, but I could see this being used on cooler spring days as well. Performance is good, I get over 8 hours with my bottle, it lasts days on clothing. I would say it gives about 2-3 feet of projection for the first 3-4 hours and slowly dwindles after that. My skin also eats fragrance up, some beast mode stuff will only last 6 hours on me. This is definitely unisex leaning masculine in my opinion. I think it's mostly worn by men, but like other somewhat similar frags I have seen it compared to (Bvlgari Black, Midnight in Paris) the ladies can wear it too. I can't comment on how much it's like those two as I have yet to get them under my nose. My wife commented that it smells like a more masculine version of Bianco Latte, which I definitely can see the similarities with that strong coumarin base. This is an interesting fragrance, it's somewhat simple but also unique. I could see this being layered to great effect with something smokey and maybe with light leather notes. This is an 8.75/10 for me!

Luna Rossa Black is a sophisticated and modern oriental fragrance, launched by Prada in 2018, launched by perfumer Daniela Andrier. Representing a set of editions of the Luna Rossa line, this versão has now been removed to present a proposition but no turn, sensual and urban. From the first borrifada, Luna Rossa Black comes with an abertura fresca and discreet bergamot, quickly merged with a hearty but escuro and enchantment of patchouli and angelica, this is the last trace of a herbal toque and a spicy lift. The bottom, with the creamy custard, the comfort of the âmbar and the aveludado do almíscar hat, form a sedutora and refined base. Moderate projection for 2 hours, setting: 8 to 10 hours on average, maximum duration is within roupas. Sillage, moderado, com rastro elegante, sem ser invasive Luna Rossa Black behaved like a perfume but introspective and enchanting, which cried an aura of mistério ao redor de quem or usa. Ideal for use at night, meetings, jantars, social events or walks. She is a seducer and has a very sophisticated tempo, no grit, but little attention. You can also operate on days but in cold or air-conditioned environments during winter/outdoors. Our perfumes Midnight in Paris and Bvlgari Black, have a very strong scent. Final Rating: 9/10 Excellent fragrance that has many variations and a difference in relation to classic amadeirados or citrus fruits.

Avant-garde, contemporary, and timeless. Obviously, it had to come from Prada. This seems to capture the full essence and feeling of what I consider Prada in 2018, both in fashion and in perfumery. Synthetic but not chemical; a musk that is neutral in terms of sex and scent: white, powdery, and clean. With the help of angelica and coumarin, the amber becomes clear and light. It behaves more like a trail, a breeze coming off the skin where you applied it. Delicate but not weak, it does not need to be strong or loud, nor does it try to be; its confidence comes from its distinctiveness and uniqueness. If you are looking for a neutral perfume, equivalent to the musky fragrances that all women wear (and that smell wonderful on all), but for men, this is one of them. People who say it does not last, that it does not project, or that it smells like nothing are probably breathing through their mouths or simply do not understand this perfume. It does not need to be the center of attention, nor be loud, nor try to be noticed by others; but if someone does notice it on you, you will definitely become their center of attention. This perfume is suggestive and insinuating. If you are one of those men who play the saint but are anything but that, try it and maybe you will come back and give my review a like. One day, when I picked up a girl for a date, I applied two sprays just a few minutes before she got into the car. We greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek, and she said, “You smell like passion and my bed sheets.” She smelled like raspberries, and her bed sheets smelled like this perfume. Enjoy.
